Solid food! I love Thai food and I must say they have one of the best curry's around. I started with the chicken satay, I got five of them, which came with a peanut butter sauce and a cucumber chutney and it was great. The cucumber chutney was a great addition to the dish. My main course was the yellow curry with chicken, which was loaded with chicken, and it was sweet with a slight hot after taste. Perfectly balanced. My partner started with the seaweed salad and stated it was good and the dressing made the dish. He then got the green curry with shrimp and at the low prices they don't skimp. It had at least 10-12 pieces of shrimp and lots of veggies. He said the heat was perfect. The portions are big I had enough to bring home for another meal. A must go! read more

Awesome duck noodle soup in a no-frills setting... and for a very reasonable price. We went way out of our way to come to the Lark Street location, and it was absolutely worth it. It reminded me of some of the hole-in-the-wall places we used to check out in NYC where the food is so good that you easily forget about the slightly dingy surroundings. I'd love to try some of their other dishes... just wish it was closer to home or work! read more

I ordered togo, the food was gross.. I ordered shrimp curry and it barely had shrimp in my curry; also the chicken saytee was cold and dry; the white rice was disgusting no salt.. no flavor... over cooked.... I will never go back there for thai food ever again!!! Bangkok bistro is way better def recommend that place for anyone who likes thai food... #yuckkk read more

Absolutely terrible! Rice was inedible. I'm not sure I've ever gotten food before that I had to throw out. Really quite sad it used to be awesome. read more

Great Food, Good Prices. 2 of us had dinner here today for $25, including appetizers. I've been hunting for a good thai restaurant in Albany and until finding Sukhothai (located directly next to Bomber's), I had always needed to travel to Saratoga. Knocked of a star because of the ambience (small room, we were seated directly next to the door, and it's windy/cold). Otherwise, really great. read more

I am so disappointed with this restaurant. My boyfriend and I had dinner for the first time a couple of weeks ago. I love Thai food! I havent had Thai food ever since I moved from Hawaii 3 years ago. Hawaii has goood Thai food! Well, anyways, I like the menu because they had a lot of variety. The staff was really nice and friendly. I had the sweet and sour veggies with Tofu and my boyfriend had the beef curry. Which was really good however, the food came to us cold. I didnt complain because it was actually really good, it was just cold. But I was almost half way done with my plate when I saw the produce sticker still on the sliced red bell pepper. I know it was just a sticker but it made me kinda sick! I wish I had a better experience because I love Thai food but I probably won't go back. read more

The customer service is good there. The place isn't big but you feel comfortable being there. I love their Thai Iced Tea. The food is a little satly. read more

I've been to this restaurant a few times and every time is a satisfying experience. Friendly staff, and fantastic curry dishes!

It was ok. Nothing bad, nothing great---decent food, but didn't leave much of a 'wow' impression. Inside is very cute--about 8 tables total and the kitchen is essentially right there with you. Service is very nice, although they were a little pressing to get the order. For instance, my boyfriend went to use the bathroom as we sat down with the menus and no joke, literally as he sat back down to the table the girl came over and asked if we were ready. I don't know how she could have missed him just sitting down since we were the only ones in there andgb she was standing right there. So obviously we weren't ready so she came back about 120 seconds later again...hmmmm...we had to shoo shoo her back about 3 times and then finally another guy came over once we were ready. However, they were very kind and pleasant so I don't really hold it against them. they were just obviously looking for something to do. Food--we got the ginger rice dish with chicken and the musman curry chicken, miso soup, and thai egg rolls. Ginger dish was similar to a chinese ginger chicken but with different veggies such as mushrooms, carrots, onions, and green pepper. Musman curry had potato, peppers, onions, peanut, and coconut milk. Both were pretty tasty. The egg rolls were a little greasy, but had a good flavor and the dipping sauce was tasty as well. Prices--not too bad, but there are a lot of upcharges depending on the protein you get if it's something other than chicken. For beef and pork, it's a $1 upcharge and goes from there up to $5 upcharge for seafood. Overall, like I said, tasty food, just not overly memorable or very wow-ish. Flavors could have used more punch. For instance, boyfriend commented that his curry wasn't spicy and was a thinner sauce than anticipated. read more

Not the same since reopening. I've have friends and colleagues that used to eat here for years. Upon their re-open the food is AWFUL. It started off okay and has become abhorrent. I will eat just about anything. Really. Almost anything. Ordered sticky rice and it was completely inedible. Disgusting. I assume it got wet, had been there all day, was actually wall paper paste...don't know but if you can't make rice then pack it in, my friends. My business will be taken elsewhere. I hate writing bad reviews about small businesses that work hard but, come on. Rice that can't even be described as rice served on a Weds at 6:30 pm. Shame on you. read more

Ordered in for the first time! A coworker of mine recommended Thai and so I placed an order by phone. Down side to doing that hard to communicate with the person who picks up, we repeated the order about 8 times until it was right, she was patient so I didn't mind. There's a $30 minimum for delivery but they were prompt she said 45 min and they were over in 35 minutes. The food was hot and everyone's meal was separated. Pad Thai dishes were a huge disappointment my husband did not like his and my coworker said it was flavorless, I went with the Pad Kee Mao with chicken, definitely didn't like the chicken but the noodles and the flavor and the quantity I received for lunch was a great deal. My friends had the basil and cilantro fried rice and enjoyed their meals. I saw the Pad Thai and I would stay away, it's just odd for a Thai restaurant to not have a good pad Thai option, maybe it was just because of our to go experience! I liked my seaweed salad (it was probably a 3 oz portion) but price was reasonable, I will surely return and hope to eat in next time. read more

At first glance, this establishment would appear an unlikely candidate for a five-star rating. Unlike other Thai establishments in this area, this is a fairly small venue, bordering on "cramped." Also, this restaurant lacks a dedicated parking lot - and in a part of Albany that is notoriously short on parking So why the five star rating? This place rocks, plain and simple. Inexpensive, tasty food, promptly delivered by a friendly staff. While it's likely that you'll have to walk a few blocks after you park, along with a few blocks back to your car after eating, I can comfortably assure you that it is worth every step. On top of the descriptions already attributed, the cuisine largely manages to prove wholesome and healthy (with a few exceptions, I'm sure). Since moving to Delmar, I've had very few reasons to fight Albany's traffic and terrible parking. Sukhotai might just incrementally change that. read more

My boyfriend and I love this restaurant. It's amazing food with amazing service. Whether it's takeout or dining in. It has a really cute and quaint ambience. read more

I have 50-50 review on this place. I had an extremely bad takeout order one evening on a snowy day where they totally messed up our order.. they gave us the wrong dish.. as did they totally butcher my drunken noodle dish that tasted like soggy egg noodles with soy sauce and no other seasoning.. not to mention there was no veggies in it... we soldiered through looking forward to our mango and sticky rice dessert only to find that the rice was stale and tasted like it had been sitting in a warm pot for 2 days and the mango wasn't even ripe!!! It was sour and extremely hard. On the other hand.. their panang curry and their soups I find to always satisfy... their noodle dishes (I've also tried their pad thai before)..not so much. but I find their presentation is nice with the shaped rice. So.. I will always come here specifically for panang curry or their curry soups... they have yet to disappoint. read more

The food wasn't bad, but it wasn't great. I had the tamarind shrimp, which was just a little too sweet for me. Service is good though. My waitress was friendly! read more

Fav place for thai in capital region. It has an authentic taste and great menu to choose from. I haven't found a place yet that beats their spicy eggplant rice plate :) read more

SO I've had plenty of Thai food at a great number of places. I'm amazed to find one of the best Thai dishes that I've ever had is in Albany of all places. I had the chicken pumpkin curry... explosion of flavor, perfectly creamy... completely delicious. This place is likely to become one of my staples for my visits to Albany. read more

To be honest, probably some of the best Thai food I've had in America. Friendly staff, clean space, and very tasteful and beautiful dishes. Would highly recommend to anyone in the area! read more

Great little place. Their lunch specials are fantastic in price and flavor. I've eaten here several times and it's always very good!

Love satay and mu yang! Must try mango and sweet rice.

Good Thai food. The curries are yummy. The pad Thai is good. Very cheap, especially for the portion size.

This place is adorable and has really good thai food! The portions are pretty big too, and it was only like 30 bucks for dinner for 3 people! read more

My husband and I tried Sukhothai a few weeks ago. The food wasn't bad, but it definitely wasn't great. We tried two different curries that just didn't have a lot of flavor. We both felt that we have had better Thai elsewhere, and not just in NYC, but in the area (like Tomo in Slingerlands). The atmosphere isn't great, so that doesn't make up for mediocre food. The service was ok. Doubt we will ever go back, which is too bad since I would like to see places in downtown Albany thrive. read more

What a find in downtown Albany! Dumplings for appetizer yum! Seafood salad Delish. Tom kha coconut soup divine and ever so filling. You won't leave hungry. Pineapple and pumpkin curry both outstanding. Pumpkin flan a bit different for my taste! So much food. Good thing we walked home read more

huge thai food fan, however this was the first time having it in albany. Food was great, with large portions and fast service.

We have been to all the Thai food in the area (we live in nisky), and this is by far the best. The place is very small, and is not situated in the best part of town, its food is spectacular. (Go for the Panang curry and netted prawns!) I almost didn't want to write this review, because I feel the place is my little secret! read more

Excellent! Will definitely be back. Had a Thai Ice Tea, Chicken Satae, Thai Suki and a Tom Yum soup. Everything was incredible. There was a nice amount of heat to the spicy dishes. The Chicken Satae came with a great peanut sauce. Best 'Thai' restaurant in the capital district. The place is small and got really busy for lunch, but the service was still really friendly and prompt. Overall, I am really happy with my experience there. read more

I've ordered from Sukhothai countless times. We stick to the same dishes: tom kha or tom yum soup and green or pineapple curry. Can't go wrong with these they are delicious. Recommend ordering out instead of eating in. read more

My go-to Pad Thai. A great place to eat in or take out. A great place to grab dinner with friends, or better yet to invite friends over for dinner and provide a feast from Sukhothai. Very friendly staff and always quick if you call in for carry out. read more

First place I had Thai food. Very great food at a very low price. The atmosphere is nice- it's a garden level restaurant and though small, it feels cozy, not cramped. Their ba mee Heang (im sure i spelt that wrong) is outstanding it's very spicy and the cilantro is great. Their pad Thai is excellent as well. Another great option is the bubble tea. Overall my favorite restaurant in the region, as I am a student and cannot afford 20+ for a night out with friends, or lunch. read more

Sukhothai has a couple locations and this was the first time I've been to the one on lark st. A nice quaint place. I always appreciate getting a decent amount of rice with a bowl of curry. Some other Thai place tend to skimp out on that. Good curry with tofu. Will come back again even though most of the times when I head to lark, it's to go to bombers. read more

I recently stopped by this place on a Sunday afternoon when I was craving some Thai and my usual place was closed. The location on Lark Street is like a garden apartment with about 6 or 8 tables and two tables for outside seating. I had the spring roll appetizer followed by the Pad Woon Sen with chicken. All of the food was enjoyable and portion size was reasonable compared to the cost. The dipping sauce for the spring rolls was a bit sweet, a bit hot, but not thick enough to cling to the spring roll. The meal I ordered came with your choice of miso soup or seaweed salad. I wanted to try the seaweed salad (and thought I had ordered it), but the miso soup came out instead. No worries, the soup was flavorful as well. All in all, the whole meal was enjoyable. I had read a different review that had commented that the glass noodles were "too wet". I wasn't sure what they meant until I ordered the Pad Woon Sen and learned that the dish had a bit more sauce than was needed. Luckily the flavors were enjoyable and the noodles were moist, but a bit too moist for my taste. read more

If you have the patience to order in person and wait 45 minutes, this place is great. If you rely on placing an order over the phone or online, go somewhere else. Placed the order on eatstreet at 7:58. Received confirmation that is was received at 7:59. Food was never delivered. When we went to pick it up, it wasn't ready. They said they never received the order. They promptly cancelled the order, and refunded the money. When my Wife came home and told me the order wasn't made it was 9:00pm. So I called the restaurant and they said they didn't receive the order from eatstreet until after my Wife left, so call it 9:04pm, and she hung up on me. I think to myself, "maybe Eatstreet jacked this one up." So I call Eatstreet. They have confirmation that the order was received twice. So I call Sukhothai back and tell them that I know they received the order, and she says that her manager will call me. I tell her that I know for a fact it was received, and ask when the manager will call me back. She then hangs up on me again. They're clearly trying their best to utilize technology to enhance customer service, but they're also clearly failing miserably. It's too bad, because the food is actually GOOD. Their service is just piss-poor and when you're starving at 9:15pm, nothing else matters. This place is dead to me. read more
