Always a safe and quick go to when craving for quality sushi-The Nozawa Trust Me is our go to and the always seem to deliver no matter the location. This time also ordered the pink lobster which was the bomb!!!! In case you haven't been to sugar fish before, they provide four set menus/omakase at a very generous price. The one we ordered is about middle tier but great quality and pretty filling. - Tuna sashimi in ponzu and chive. Very vinaigrette starter (I love vinegar anything - Next you get two albacore and two salmon sushi each with its signature chive and sesame toppings to give it an aesthetic twist. Very fresh - this is followed by a Toro hand roll. No extra fillings but pure fish and seaweed roll which allows you to taste the fish and its fatty delight - this is followed by tuna (2), yellowtail (2), sea bream with citrus salt (1 piece and my favorite), and Hiram (1) sushi. All fantastic - you end with a bluefin tuna hand roll. Honestly not a huge fan of bluefin tuna in general but you can request for an alternative. - I also added the pink lobster sushi which was just DIVIne Also, each meal comes with an edamame app so no need to order. Of course you want to go for à la carte you can. Just feel the menu is a better buck for your money.

Sugarfish is like the In n Out of sushi restaurant, the quality is consistent, it never disappoints. They have locations all around. There are obviously better places, but also come with a higher price point. * Wait time could be longer if you trying to walk in on a weekend, we waited for 30 mins. So make reservations if possible We both got the Nozawa Trust Me, the portion is enough to make you feel full after the dinner. Everything is fresh, the nori hand rolls are great (prefer the toro more to the snow crab one). Everything is a solid 7-8/10, favourite is the Tuna and Chutoro Sashimi, scallop nigiri and the Hirame sushi that comes with yuzu ponzu sauce. It's a staple for sushi and won't disappoint, if you want a casual sushi meal. [[HIGHLIGHT]]Ambience and service are okay, nothing exquisite.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] [[HIGHLIGHT]]It's a casual spot that's clean and has great quality control, there are always better places but this won't go wrong.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]]

I had a great time at sugarfish. We had a party of two, arrived at 830, and were seated within 25 minutes. We were celebrating a birthday but they do not do any special dessert or drink for birthdays. We both ordered the tasty me and it was fantastic taste and value. The fish felt fresh and each piece was well marinated. It truly was too much food and I struggled to even finish the dishes. I can't wait to return for another meal the next time I'm in town! [[HIGHLIGHT]]NOTE: the tables are pretty close together so conversations can be a bit difficult to have if you struggle focusing in loud environments.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]]

[[HIGHLIGHT]]Fine dining ambiance with luxe interior and high class service.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] My friends and I came in immediately after watching the dodgers win the World Series at a bar close by and were quickly helped to a table before closing. We tried to be quick with our orders and did their Trust Me menu option which features rounds of quality sashimi, edamame, and lovely hand rolls. I had some of their green tea to help ease my throat from the World Series cheering and chowed down all the plates so fast i couldn't help it! I was pleasantly surprised with the chunky and delicious quality of the fish for an arguable outstanding price. You're getting premier bites, upscale service in a beautiful dining room. The plates came out fast and their presentation was excellent. The attention to detail and focus on the customer was obvious. I'd love returning to dine here. [[HIGHLIGHT]]Their staff was friendly, the space is romantic, and it's a quick stop for a sushi fix![[ENDHIGHLIGHT]]

Not sure how it took me this long to finally try SUGARFISH, but it was honestly well worth the wait. Anything from the Sushi Nozawa Group has to be amazing. [[HIGHLIGHT]]I went to the Beverly Hills location on a weekend and this spot was packed. We were lucky to be seated so quickly![[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] I started with an iced green tea (refills are free and you can take a cup to go) which was delightful. I split the Nozawa Trust Me with another person and it was the perfect portion size. The courses started with edamame. Then came tuna and chutoro sashimi which was insanely delicious. The rest of the courses were albacore sushi, salmon sushi, toro hand roll, chutoro sushi, Japanese yellowtail sushi, New Zealand sea bream sushi, Hirame sushi, and blue and dungeness crab hand roll. WOW. We also added a scallop sushi which was so sweet and fresh. Everything was incredible, can't wait to come back again.

First time going and it was amazing! The fish was so fresh and melted in my mouth. I ordered the nozawa trust me box and I loved that they brought each set out at a time so you didn't get everything all at once! Highlights were the tuna and chutoro sashimi with ponzu and chives. I didn't really enjoy the toro hand roll but the crab hand roll was perfection, it had just the right amount of sweetness using the blue and Dungeness crabs! Everything tasted fresh, clean and high quality and the [[HIGHLIGHT]]I loved the mood lighting while enjoying a great meal.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]]

Sugarfish Beverly Hills lives up to its reputation when it comes to quality. While I've heard people say it can be overhyped, the fish truly speaks for itself. Every bite was incredibly fresh, clean, and perfectly prepared -- the kind of sushi that almost melts in your mouth like butter. Simple, unfussy, and focused on letting the fish shine. Def would come back!

I love Sugarfish! It's a very approachable place for people new to Omakase and a good reliable spot for more seasoned Omakase enjoyers. It's always very consistent. The fish tastes fresh and the rice is perfectly prepared. I always order the Nozawa Trust Me and I feel like it has the perfect amount of food. I 've been to multiple locations all over California, but the Beverly Hills location is the one I've most frequently visited. They are all extremely solid and consistent. Great service, always good food, and a great spot for some casual Omakase.

The best sushi experience we've ever had. From the incredible service (our sake cups were NEVER empty, shoutout to the GM Sue), to the multiple rounds of delicious, unique seafood, to the genuine passion from the head chef, it was one of those evenings that left a lasting imprint. [[HIGHLIGHT]]And the ambiance was a perfect blend of traditional Japanese cuisine and a modern, exclusive LA atmosphere.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] We can't wait to go back. Could not recommend this place enough.

I came here with 5 friends on a Tuesday night for dinner. There are no reservations available and you must have all members of your party present to be seated / moved off the waitlist. Parking in this area will pretty much have to be paid; there is a $10 public parking garage across the street if you park after 6 pm. SUGARFISH is famous for their pre fixe menu in general, and I opted for the "Trust Me" which includes edamame, several rolls, hand rolls, and sashimi. Ponzu tuna sashimi 4/5, I liked the fish and it tasted fresh but I think they overdid it a bit w/ the citrus sauce Albacore roll 5/5, but rice not well packed, split up when held immediately by chopsticks Salmon roll 3/5, nothing special Yellow tail roll 2.5/5, while soft it was overly salty Scallop roll 4/5, soft melts in mouth, strong yuzu Tuna Tora hand roll 3.5/5, I liked the warm rice but the tuna wasn't anything special

Brandon the host was great! Both hosts were so sweet actually! This was my first time dining at this location. I was with a group and they were a bit rowdy, but the staff was polite and service was great. We didn't wait long at all for a table. Food was delicious!

What's the best time to beat the rush on a Sunday?

You can go right when they open (11:30am). With all the new locations open, the wait is not as crazy as it used to be. I would also go during non-lunch, non-dinner times...like 2p-4p is usually a good time to grab a table.

What time do they open for dinner? What's the best time to go to beat the rush on a Sat eve?

    3pm is dinner

Do they let you bring in a birthday dessert?

    Do they take reservations ever?

    Gluten free dishes?

Sushi and sashimi... rice is gluten-free

    Are there Vegan options?

No. This wouldn't be a place for vegans.

I am not one of those people but I do understand the sentiment. When a restaurant becomes an institution there is always the risk that it coasts. So I will say this clearly. It is not coasting. We came on a Friday night, reservation made weeks in advance because my assistant knows better than to leave it last minute. The room has this energy that I find difficult to describe to someone who has not been. It is lively without being loud. There is money in that room but it does not announce itself and I find that refreshing. I spend enough time around people who need to be seen. We ordered omakase style and let the kitchen guide us and this is absolutely the correct way to experience Matsuhisa. The black cod with miso is legendary for a reason and I do not typically enjoy when a dish lives so heavily in its own reputation. This one earns it every single time. The yellowtail with jalapeño is another dish that sounds simple until you taste how balanced it actually is. There is real technique beneath what looks effortless and I respect that enormously. My husband had the sake pairing and was very pleased. I stayed with a Burgundy I brought because I called ahead and the corkage situation was handled gracefully and without attitude. That matters to me more than people might expect. Where I have mixed feelings is the service. Our server was warm and knowledgeable but the pacing between a few of the courses was uneven in a way I noticed. It did not ruin the evening but at this price point and this level of reputation it is the kind of thing that should not happen. Nobu Matsuhisa built something real here and it shows. This is not a restaurant riding on nostalgia. It is a restaurant that still has something to prove and mostly succeeds.

For me, the experience was less successful mainly because of the fish dishes. The flavors felt too strong, and some of the dishes gave me the feeling that the fish was not handled or seasoned properly, which affected my enjoyment of the meal. I was expecting more balanced and fresh flavors. On the positive side, there were a few dishes I did enjoy. The mushroom salad was very good, and the cucumber salad was fresh and enjoyable as well. Those were the highlights of the meal for me personally. The atmosphere in the restaurant was pleasant, the place itself looked nice, and the staff were friendly and attentive throughout the evening. Still, overall, the food did not really suit my taste, so for me it was an average experience rather than one of the better restaurants I've been to

NOTE: Dined in on 10/27/24…read more Definitely want to write a couple of reviews before the end of the year to shine some light on restaurants that really need some more love here on Yelp. Rockpool sounds a little generic for a sushi spot, but the quality of the fish is quite delicious for the value. In particular, the lunch omakase is probably amongst the best sushi deals I've had for a sitdown spot. I'd definitely take it into consideration over let's say... Sugarfish. People often talk about how "fresh" fish tastes at sushi restaurants, but I feel like the best raw fish is often aged to an extent. The taste of the fish here is good, but I don't feel that they always use the best cuts. For example, the otoro was tasty, but it was not as marbled as I'm used to seeing. That said, another critically important and often overlooked component of sushi, particularly in handrolls and nigiri, is the rice. The rice here is delicately warm, pairs well with the fish, and has a pleasant, slightly sweet and vinegary taste. Simply delightful. The miso soup was also quite delicious, with a hearty, deep, set of flavors in the soup stock, and the scallop hand roll here was so good, I forgot to take a photo before devouring it haha. The lunch special should be enough food for most folks, but you're always welcome to add additional items to it! Now, is it good enough for me to try the more expensive dinner courses? Debatable, but it might be... just barely! The value proposition is hard to ignore, though. It's certainly one of the best deals you'll find on the Westside.
