I needed to get something for lunch and decided to try Oschcola's Home Cooking. This place has been…read moreon my radar for a few weeks. I'd passed it a few times while driving on Airport Boulevard. I was working from home so I went there on my lunch break. When I walked inside I saw a few patrons sitting at tables. There was a a buffet style counter set up with the work staff behind it. Each of them greeted me as I walked toward the counter. I was asked what I wanted and I said thought instantly about the fried chicken I saw. I ordered that and the meal comes with three sides and cornbread as well. I chose mac and cheese, black eyed peas, and mash potatoes and gravy. The server rung me up and I took my plate to go. I can't remember the first thing I tasted when I got home. I believe it was the mac and cheese. It doesn't really matter. The sides were really good. Mac and cheese is usually my favorite side but I thoroughly enjoyed the black eyed peas. Don't get me wrong the mac and cheese was excellent but the peas were superb. The mash potatoes were creamy and the gravy was savory. The cornbread was the type that had the pieces of corn in it. I liked it. Now the main course was of course the chicken. It really looked and tasted like authentic homemade fried chicken. I loved the seasoning on the chicken. It was some of the best chicken I've had in a while. I definitely want to come back.

Traveling here on business, I sat at the bar watching the TVs and listening to the locals chat. It was relaxing and honest. The servers were attentive, never letting a drink get low or an empty plate sit around long. Highly recommend if you are looking for a place to chill and get great comfort food.

You ever walk into a place and immediately think, "Yep... this is either going to be amazing or I'm…read moreabout to make a terrible decision"? Welcome to Judy's Place. Because this spot is not pretending to be anything. This is full-on, unapologetic dive. And I mean that in the best possible way. You walk in and it's like the '70s, '80s, and a little bit of someone's '90s basement bar all got together and said, "Let's not change a thing." Old banquet-style tables, a bar top that feels like it's hosted a thousand stories, and walls that have clearly seen some things. I loved it immediately. Now let's talk food. The folks next to me were deep into the chicken and dumplings and talking about it like it was a life event. You know that kind of table chatter where you start reconsidering your order mid-bite? Yeah, that. I went shrimp po' boy... and no regrets. Shrimp fried just right. Crispy, flavorful, doing exactly what it's supposed to do. Solid sandwich. The fries... eh, they showed up a little tired. Not terrible, just kind of there. A little cold, a little soggy, like they'd already had a long day. But here's the twist. You don't come to Judy's for perfection. You come for personality. For the feeling that you just discovered a place that doesn't care about trends, doesn't need a remodel, and definitely isn't chasing Instagram. It just is what it is... and somehow that works. Fold this into your expectations. If you need polished, keep driving. If you want real, pull up a chair. It's fun. It's different. It's got character for days. Four stars. And honestly, half the star is just for staying exactly the same all these years.

We reserved a table for twelve at 6PM two weeks ahead, so we anticipated a seamless evening. We…read morewere seated relatively quickly, which offered some optimism, but the positive experience stopped there. Because the reservation required a form to be completed, one might expect the restaurant to be ready for a large group. We were quickly mistaken! We placed our appetizer orders along with our main dishes and then waited nearly an hour, only to be told that multiple appetizers and dishes were not available. It took an hour for the kitchen to advise our server that half our dishes weren't available?! That's a long time to wait for news that could have been shared right away, and it set the tone for the rest of the night. The waitress was clearly overwhelmed, and the restaurant didn't seem prepared to handle a large party, even with advance notice. When we spoke to the manager, BACON (we were told that is his first name), he showed no remorse and made no effort to make things right. Just provided excuses for the lackluster service. There was no sincere apology, and we weren't offered so much as a complimentary appetizer for the extensive wait. A small gesture would have gone a long way. To top it off, there were multiple mistakes with our bills, which added more frustration at the end of an already disappointing night. Extremely disappointed in the poor communication, limited menu availability, and lackluster customer service. Although the food seemed fine, I am unsure whether our hunger masked any flaws by the time it arrived; the early letdown left a lingering impression. I hope management takes this feedback seriously, because a reservation should mean something. Be prepared if you're going to accept a large party!
