Its a Subway. And just like any Subway, your experience can vary wildly. I've had good experiences here and I've had bad experiences here. The latter probably more likely than the former. Depending on which "sandwich artist" you get, you can be greeted by someone that clearly does not give one-half a crap about their job and have that reflected in your meal. Why do I keep coming here? Convenience. If I have 10 minutes to grab a meal... $6 at Subway can get the job done. I guess I can give some credit for the size / cleanliness of the location. The staff here is always attentive, will ask you to repeat yourself if they didn't quite hear you, and work to make you an excellent sandwich each and every time. I don't come here too often but since it's so close to work I find myself here from time to time and I'm never disappointed. DISCLAIMER: I'm writing this assuming everyone knows what subway is. I never thought I'd end up reviewing a subway, but I've frequented this location numerous times for lunch and not once was I ever disappointed with the outcome or service. Lets begin by saying that this location is one of the cleanest subways I've ever seen. I normally go to lunch around 1 pm or 1:30 pm and despite how crowded the place might be, I always see staff members going around and making sure the tables are clean. Speaking of staff members, they are really good at working a prime shift. Every time I walk in, there's always a long line, however, it moves super quick and I'm out and back in the office in less than 10 minutes. The staff are super responsive and efficient. Keep up the good work! When it comes to food, need I go into detail about that? It's fast food subs, and it's as fresh as it is going to get. Subway has tried to come back through several promotions and good advertisement, and they are really trying their best to preserve the freshness of their food. Their prices haven't increased significantly in the past few years and the 3.50$ sub of the day is always a good option to save money on lunch. It's fresh, healthy and even cheaper than prepackaged sandwiches at 7-eleven. Will be back again! read more

The employees are what make this a great location--cheerful and usually engaging. The location isn't the most visible, but when you find it, you'll notice the high ceilings and spaciousness. Typical Subway--tasty sandwiches for a good price. read more

SUBBING UP I have to be honest and say I haven't been to a subway in 6 years. I use to eat at Subway like three times a week and unlike their incarcerated spokesperson I was actually gaining weight. I then realize that the eat fresh method didn't include all of the hidden sodium. My footlong sandwich actually had enough sodium for me as a male adult for the whole day. What? How was I supposed to survive 24 hours on a single footlong, so I walked away from Subway. Since my departure Subway has secretly reduced the sodium in their lunch meats. They didn't want the customers to know because people have an addiction to salt. Subway could actually reduce them more but customers might notice the changes. Subway has also changed their bread too. They got busted for having some real bad crap in there. Is Subway better? I would say getting better. Restaurants now a days have to be careful because one bad leak to the Internet could ruin their business. The Internet has been good for our health. It holds restaurants accountable for what they are actually serving us. Am I back? No not really. I needed Subway in an emergency meal at 9pm in the loop where everything closes like a sleepy Iowa town at 6pm. I ordered the Black Forest ham footlong to split with my little one. I had to talk her into it because she didn't remember we use to split these when she was 3 years old. It was a special moment. She's been to Subway in the last 6 years with friends on play dates but not us. I think her sub is all pepperoni. I hate to tell her the sodium in that. She's got that Sicilian blood brewing for Italian meats. In fact, she asked me to add pepperoni to our ham sub. How cute is that? I had to nicely tell her no. The girl working at the subway was a little preoccupied. She made a sandwich for the guy in front of me but she kept peeking out the front window and ran in back a few times prior to making my sandwich. She also disappeared to the back while making my sandwich. I'm not sure if she had a stalker outside but her actions were peculiar. One of the good things about Subway is that you can load up the veggies on your sandwich. This location only wanted to give me 2 leaves of spinach but they had no problem giving me a whole bag of iceberg lettuce. Same old subway! Trying to save money. I had to request more spinach because I like spinach. This location also had red onions which I don't remember other locations having. I also love Chicago because we have the hot giardinera as an option. My lips were honestly burning from the heat. Was the sandwich good? Yes! Did it hit the spot? Totally! My preferred downtown Subway for its clean and spacious interior and relaxed atmosphere that clearly smothers the competition, the Subway a block away on State Street. What can I say? I get my sub fast, a choice of seats to eat at, all while avoiding any Spanish come-ons from the male sandwich artists. Way to Eat Fresh! read more

We all know that no one goes to a subway for the quality of the food, and certainly not the service (why do we go again?). We also know that as far as Subways go, the restaurants downtown are much worse than the ones out in the suburbs. At least the suburban subways have after school high school students to mess up your order. This Subway however surpasses the rest in terms of poor quality and service. If you like to be screeched at for your bread choice (that they are probably out of) 3-4 people before you even reach the glass, this subway is for you. If you want the person taking the order to not understand a single word you say unless it is one of the sandwich names on the menu, then this subway is for you. If you want the person adding the veggies to get a 4-5 sandwich backup because of the screecher 2 people up the line from them then this subway is for you. Above all else, if you want the veggies that the backed up employee will place on your limp piece of bread full if processed cold cuts and oily cheese to be brown and slimy, then ladies and gents, this subway is for you. Most importantly if after all that stellar service, you want to be charged the wrong price constantly, be harassed regularly by homeless people while eating in store, and have that behavior condoned by the staff, then this is absolutely positively the subway for you. This Subway straight blows. They don't know their own promotions. Ordered a sub on the daily 5 dollar menu, and they charged me 6.50 for it. This is Subway, if I wanted food worth almost 7 bucks, I'd just go to Chipotle. read more
