This has got to be the cleanest & quietest shake shack I've been to. We ordered the limited edition Dubai pistachio chocolate shake. It was good, but it didn't really have that signature Dubai chocolate flavor we were hoping for. We couldn't taste any pistachio, and it honestly felt like the pistachio chunks were left out. There wasn't much chocolate either, and the shell was really thin. It didn't even crack when we pressed the sides. We also thought it could've used more kataifi. Well I'm finally done with the West Loop location. As you can see from the pictures I placed 2 orders over the app. 1) black truffle single w/truffle fries 2) double bacon cheeseburger w/fries One order was perfect while the other was missing the bacon (photo attached) I checked the receipt and surely they got that right. This is my 4th time visiting West Loop location and each time something is not as ordered and I will not return. If I want Shack Shake I will go to the Oak Lawn location after church going forward. RESPONSE TO ELLIE: Thank you so much, but this is too many times having incorrect orders from your West Loop location. It is appalling that your associates cannot get an order right. This was my first Shake Shack experience and I was very happy with how it went! Definitely lived up to the hype and I plan on coming back very soon. The price wasn't too crazy expensive either, especially when you compare it to the quality of food you're receiving. I just wish I tried the "Hot One's" menu...but I was too late! I appreciated this location and any place that "accidentally" gives extra fries is always going to get a 5/5 in my books, so thank you Shake Shack! I can't speak for the service or ambiance since we ordered takeout. However, the food was really good. I always like having my fries with BBQ sauce, so I love that they offer BBQ fries. They had a BBQ seasoning on them, which wasn't too overwhelming. I am a baby with spices, so I had milk with it but most people wouldn't think it's spicy. They also offer different BBQ sauces with their BBQ fries (Carolina BBQ or Shake BBQ sauce). I got the Shake BBQ sauce and my boyfriend got the Carolina BBQ sauce. I thought the Shake BBQ sauce was good. I didn't even try to Carolina one because I hate mustard. My boyfriend said the Carolina BBQ sauce was good, but nothing special about it and it tasted like most Carolina BBQ sauces. As for the burgers, I really liked mine. I am weird about condiments, so I only had pickles on it. They were thick pickle slices (not the cheap super tiny ones from McDonald's). I went to Shake Shack in Oak Lawn, IL to pick up my order, I showed them my receipt and they didn't want to give me my order. They said "someone else" took my order and they told me to ask for a refund. I had to order it again and wait in line again, when they could've just simply given me my order after I showed them proof or they could've just RE-DONE MY ORDER... So can I get a refund I guess? This is so unbelievable. I can not believe how rude the employees were as well. Super rude and unprofessional. Stuff like this is just......... like I cant even explain or say anything. By far the worst Shake Shack I have ever been to. The staff is extremely rude. The wait time are extremely long and the place was empty. I got back to work after ordering and realized I was missing 2 burgers from my order. I came back and showed my receipt and the staff argued me that I was lying and had received everything. I'm so frustrated and annoyed by this meal I could shed a tear. Literally been up since 7am moving across the state. I haven't eaten all day. I'm going to assume they need to change their fryer oil because this entire meal was disgusting and inedible. The fries were very over cooked with a terrible aftertaste. My go-to is two double cheeseburgers with fries. This is one of the best 2000 calorie lunches for ~$20 in the city, potentially the best considering it has a fair amount of protein and the beef is all-natural. I've ordered this combination dozens of times and nearly every complaint has been for the delivery drivers. The fries are consistent, the burgers are consistent. Once or twice the burgers were prepared too sloppily or there was weird cross contamination from other things being cooked (like whatever relish they use) but these complaints are irrelevant. I ordered the smoke shack burger, it was actually very delicious. The meat was cooked perfectly, it was very cheesy and had a lot of bacon. I decided to order the double, and I thought it had a lot of flavor, and was huge. It cost almost $11, unfortunately does not come with fries but it was delicious. I would order it again. I was definitely full after eating it. My fiancé tried the spicy chicken sandwich, that was almost $8 and I did not feel it was worth it honestly. Good location right next to the train station. My first time having shake shack. I know where have I been. As a Californian I have to say it. I like In N Out better. Shake shack is like in between Five Guys and In N Out on the burger spectrum. Five Guys represents that heavy backyard grill burger that'll send you into a food coma. In N Out gives you that lighter, simple, classic, aromatic and fresh vibe that hits the spot. Food (7/10): Truffle burger - looks delicious. Lots of competing flavors. Surprisingly enough a bit too heavy on the truffle oil. The temperature is something I noticed that I usually don't for burgers. It was too... Room temp. The sub temp didn't bring out the flavors and burger off the grill feel. The bun was also much softer than I expected like Hawaiian bread. Personal preference but it was too pastry soft for me. Chicken bites - tastes "healthier" with the white meat. Very similar to the Bare chicken nuggets you can get at Costco. Obviously better cooked and prepared. Used the honey mustard sauce which was pretty standard. Fries with cheese - very standard looking but well done. Surprised and impressed me the most. The fries look very unassuming like cafeteria fries. They are a bit crispy on the outside. It's the cheese. The cheese is like a Kraft's Mac n cheese. Maybe have the option to add some spice to the cheese like Dave's Hot Chicken. Service/ambience (7.5/10): Pretty good for a fast food spot. Staff is friendly. Like the other burger chains the establishment and bathrooms are well kept. Shake Shack twice in a row is pretty awesome. I tried the Palo Alto, CA location and then flew to Chicago, IL for work. Lo and behold, Shake Shack was right next to my office in the West Loop and I got to eat it again. Location (5/5): It's literally right next to the Morgan Station CTA. It's also in West Loop where the people told me is the "bougie" part of Chicago. Surrounding area was really nice and felt safe. Store (5/5): Definitely felt like new construction. It's a beautiful store that is very clean and spacious. Good amount of seating and the decorations they had inside were tasteful especially the "West Loop" wall art. I thought the staff here did a good job in keeping everything clean and its well appreciated. Menu (4/5): Since I always get the ShackBurger, I decided to try something else and explore the menu: (1) SmokeShack - $7.19 - This burger definitely has a different taste than the ShakeBurger. Loved that it had bacon and chopped cherry peppers. It was good but I still think I like the ShackBurger better. I think its because the ShakeBurger just tastes like a traditional cheeseburger and that just hits my flavor profile better. Personal preference on my end. 2) Fries - $2.99 - Just got basic fries this time since I got cheese fries last time. Came out fresh and delicious and nothing to complain about here (3) Fifty/Fifty (L) - $3.69 - This is basically their version of the "Arnold Palmer" which is half lemonade / half ice tea. It's on the sweet side but it does taste really good and I enjoyed it with my burger. Total meal came out to be around $15.02 which is on the pricey side for just a burger meal. Just keep in mind that Shake Shack is more of a premium burger spot and expect to spend more. It'd be cool if they have "combo meals" in the future like other restaurants to bring down costs and ease of ordering. It'd be great to say, "I'll have a #1" instead of separately ordering burger, fries, and a drink. Overall, this location of Shake Shack is pretty solid and I would definitely go back here when I go to the Chicago Office again. Well done! read more

My lovely friend and I were wandering around the Fulton Market area on a brisk but sunny Sunday afternoon, so we popped into Shake Shack for lunch. She had never been to a Shake Shack before, and this was my debut in this West Loop location right off the Morgan CTA Green Line stop. There was a decent crowd but our order was placed efficiently, and the food came out with minimal wait. We ordered a Shack Burger and a Smoke Shack Burger, the latter loaded with some yummy strips of bacon. We split an order of cheese crinkle cut fries. Our lunch was tasty, and we enjoyed some people watching inside and out. Our table was crafted from an old bowling lane - cool or what! - and there were TV's showing college basketball games. I just so happened to be in the area post finishing a spin class workout at CycleBar for a Yelp event. Catching CTA Morgan at the time enroute to and leaving the spin class I took a look on Morgan St to see what businesses were near and lo and behold, Shake Shack was off to the side. I have actually been procrastinating on visiting the location in Skokie for sometime now since discovering it, thanks to Yelper - Passhon J. Since I have visited this location I can now cease that visit because I was not fond of locating Shake Shack inside of the Old Orchard Shopping Center at all. Now, despite this location not being inside of a shopping center like the Skokie one, its interior appeared the same. And I loved that its menu was plastered up on the wall, and readable! As for its menu, out of a list that consisted of burgers, chicken, hot dogs, and fries, plus several drinks, beer & wine, I ordered the Chick'n Shack which is a crispy chicken breast sandwich with lettuce, pickles and buttermilk herbo mayo. In the future I would love to return and try one of their burgers because it's what built that interest to visit Shake Shack in the first place. And I did love that they give a restaurant pager letting you know that your order is ready at the counter. As for the Chick'n Shack, it was fresh, hot, and tasty! And damn well worth trying if you are contemplating something to try on their menu or if you love chicken sandwiches. During this visit, the employees were courteous and friendly! Once I finished my meal I was buried in my phone Yelping, and one of the employees took my tray despite me sitting right next to the trash receptacle. I was also startled by one who greeted me, asking how am I doing once I finish my meal which I rarely get anywhere unless its once I walk through the door. Big plus, Shake Shack! In closing, Shake Shack surpassed my expectations and since I now know what to expect at this location I would not hesitate on visiting again. I remember when Shake Shack was THE NY burger shack and how exclusive it is. Nowwwww, it's literally a block from my work and an amazing lunch spot! (They do also open late and have beer on tap so it's a great night spot as well for some munchies after dark in the West Loop.) I've been trying to gain weight so sometimes I actually get 2 single shack burgers instead of the 1 double. The buns is soft, almost like a Hawaiian bun, and the patty is definitely juicy and melts with the cheese. I always ask for everything on top because I need that balance to soak up the grease. You do get pretty food coma afterwards at work so beware! Crinkle fries here, always on point! Haven't had a soggy fry from here. I've also tried their shakes (Cookies and Creme AND the seasonal Cascara one). It was thick but more on the ice cream side where it's VERY milky. They were both sweet and the Cascara one was unique with chocolate bits within every sip. I also learned about their app, which is pretty nice to order ahead so you can just pick it up without having to wait in line and wait again for the food when it gets crowded during the lunch rush. Went to this Shake Shack to try the new chicken tenders. The location had great speedy service, no line to wait in. I think I will just stick to the shack burger though! The tenders were not crispy enough and extremely salty. Also, they only have two sauce options... Maybe because they are new? I tried the shake of the month, vanilla toffee and it was AMAZING I would return just to have the shake. Their shakes always blow my mind though... I haven't been to Shake Shack since they opened their first location in Chicago, so it's been a while. The bf and I decided to give the new west loop location a try one evening and it was surprisingly pretty empty inside. The bf got the SmokeShack double, I got the Chick'n Shack, and we shared an order of fries with cheese on the side. The burger was decent, but I've had better. The fried chicken was pretty good. The crinkle cut fries were good and crispy, but I'm not really a fan of their cheese sauce. Service was good and friendly. And I think it's pretty neat that they incorporate Chicago bakery products in their concrete shakes. Shake Shack is definitely a nice option to have in the area, but I'll stick to my regular spot for my burger fix. read more

As good as it gets indeed. Yes I'm one of "those" people that have never been to Steak & Shake or Shake Shack. I didn't even know there was a Shake Shack anywhere near Chicago. Lucky me they built a brand spanking new one next to one of my offices so I not only get to try new food, but have a new place to review! Walking in the "fresh construction" aroma hits you like a ton of bricks. It's a manly smell, a mixture of musk, wood, and protein. The interior is built to the standards of a modern food court, nice, clean stainless steel finishes coupled with wood furniture & paneling to create a chic atmosphere that would attract the trendiest of crowds. For those of us that come in bigger flavors you'll be glad to know that Shake Shack's tables are not the low to the floor, gum on your pants traps that exist with the confines of a McDonalds or Burger King. Shake Shack's table's are the perfect height and they have normal chairs. For a restaurant close to downtown the prices aren't as steep as you would expect although definitely comparable to Five Guys prices. Burgers don't come with fries nor drinks so altogether you'll spend around $15-$18 for a complete meal. For a place that doesn't market itself as "gourmet" all I can say is...ouch. I ended up getting the Shack Stack, Shack Cago Dog, Fries & the "featured flavor", a watermelon basil lemonade. The total came out to be just under $25 which for a burger, hot dog, fries and lemonade I have to say it again...OUCH. The place starts to get busy around lunch hour, but they were able to get people's orders rather quick. From that point on it was just taking a number and finding a place to sit. Shake Shack uses a neat tracking system that is embedded in the numbered plaque you get. My order ended up taking about 30 minutes to get to me. It got to the point where the staff was even confused as to why it was taking so long as I didn't order anything special. Once I finally got my order I was blown away by the presentation and quality of the food! It's rare to get a menu item that actually looks like it does in the pictures, but the staff here at Shake Shack actually did it! Is there a perfectionist cook in the kitchen who threw out 15 burgers because they weren't good enough which is why it took so long? Who knows but Jesus Christ the food tasted as good as it looked. Everything was cooked to perfection, the mushroom perfectly fried, the cheese perfectly melted, the fries had a perfect level of crisp and weren't oily as well. I scarfed down the hot dog which was the only item that didn't rise above the level of "a decent hotdog." A work of art deserves to be cherished so I took my time working on the burger. The meat was perfectly seasoned and tender along with the lettuce being almost plastic looking how beautiful it was. Overall, I've found my go to burger spot. The food is nothing less than perfection from a griddle. While the service time is less than stellar (I was honestly expecting to be comped something for the wait, but they offered nothing even though they were very concerned if I was going to miss my lunch break because of the delay) the food really makes up for it. And they don't skimp on the avocado!! Pride Shake - I love that they donate 5% of the sales to The Trevor Project! To be honest, this tasted just like a strawberry milkshake. But still tasty. And they're good was brought to them vs him yelling out order name. But overall food was on point I jus didn't like the way the employee treated customers.
