4 Piece Chicken Tenders and fries

We happened upon Boxcar Betty's after an unsatisfying dinner elsewhere and stopped in for a "small" bite. We shared an order of tenders and fries and it hit the spot! Crispy fried chicken, tender on the inside, flavorful and tasty. And the crispiest fries I have ever had, ever, no question! I liked the honey mustard sauce better than the BBQ sauce, and I wished they had vinegar for the fries, but these are just quibbles about an amazing meal. Definitely worth a visit!

Salad w/ Fried Chicken. Can get tomatoes too. Great flavor, very fresh. Big salad, I saved half for lunch the next day.

Great fried chicken! Good flavor, seasoning, tastes fresh. Good service. Owner/franchisee is always around. Try the salad (very fresh greens) w/ grilled fried chicken. Good flavor. Get your veggies in while you treat yourself. Fries are good too. Chicken tenders are 100Xs better than Mickey D's. Get the tenders to go. The sandwiches are super good too. Highly recommend.

I've only had BoxCar Betty's a few times from their original location in South Carolina. Management at the restaurant was friendly and greeted us at the entrance. We placed our order and sat down. Our order arrived fast and it was everything was perfect. Our group ordered three BoxCar sandwiches, and why would you eat anything else. Our food arrived hot and filled with pickles, spicy mayo, peach coleslaw, pimento cheese, and fried chicken. There are three protein choices of Fried Chicken, Grilled Chicken, or Pimiento Stuffed Portobello Mushroom cap that come in the four main sandwiches. I love that you can also build your own sandwich.

This is a AWESOME $10 lunch spot!! It's the typical quick lunch spot with small tables. The fries were good and seasoned. The chicken sandwich is better than that Popeyes one. I said what I said, lol. Only draw back is I don't like the pimento cheese and they don't take Apple Pay. But you can sit down and eat. I have already told multiple co-workers and I will be back on Monday!!!

I pass by this storefront every day on my way to work. It's located in the 2nd floor corridor of the Citibank building so a bit difficult to find if you don't know frequent though that corridor. If you take the Olgivie station trains, its the shop just before the sky bridge over Canal St. I have a fondness for chicken that is fried and biscuits. Put them together and we're pretty good friends. The biscuit didn't hold up too well (tad crumbly when squished together), but was quite tasty. I tried the chicken sandwich with some honey and their buffalo sauce. The buffalo sauce was a bit lighter than what I was expecting. I think there was a squirt of lemon which was quite pleasing since it's not as harsh as vinegar. The sweetness of the honey countered well with the acid in the buffalo. It's a pretty good sandwich for sure. They claim to have one of South Carolina's best chicken biscuits...pretty darn good I say! Worth a try.

First time eating here with my wife! Food was delicious! Chicken sandwiches (the Betty and the box car) both had great flavor and tasted so fresh! I usually always have a sauce for my fries to dip in but these seasoned fries were great just by themselves, that's a first! Thank you for your polite, quick courteous service!

That's not enough slaw...but sandwich was great and the fries were nice and seasoned.

The last sandwich place here didn't do so well. I sure hope BB's lasts a lot longer! Yay! I love chicken sandwich places! I came by for lunch and was really surprised to see how busy it was. You order at the front and kind of shimmy along with the rest of the line as your order is being made and called out. I ordered the Boxcar and it was delicious! My only real complaint was that it came with no more than a tablespoon of coleslaw. Check out my pic. It's kind of pitiful. The fries were great and I loved how you get to choose your own sauces. I only tried the ranch and the spicy mayo. The mayo was good but I didn't find it spicy at all. Great for dipping the super seasoned fries in. The ranch was a joke. It was waaaaay too watered down down and had the consistency of skim milk and just was not appetizing. Even though the quality control is a bit lacking, I was still incredibly impressed. Because at the end of the day it's all about the chicken and it was fantastic. Juicy, moist and seasoned well. That pimento ain't bad neither.

This place is awesome!!! Omg, probably one of my new favorite biscuit place for now. I was visiting Chicago and was browsing around places. Since it was early in the morning, so not many places are open yet. I saw this place and it caught my attention. I'm always a fan of chicken biscuit. I decided to walk in and try it out. Friendly greeting from the owner or one of the worker there. I ordered two of their chicken biscuit. One specialty and one regular. It was delicious, I can have them every single morning, lunch, or dinner. Overall, a must go place for me. Only thing is that the wait time is a little longer than expected. It was worth it though! :)

Very good for a quick takeout burger / meal. Reminds me of a nicer in&out or five guys, just better and less greasy. The fried chicken could've used more spice for my tastes, but was good nonetheless. Again - it's a fast casual takeout spot in an office building - above par. Pro-tip: there's a "park" a block over near Caterpillar's offices. Grab your food and sit on the benches over there.

Love, love, love fried chicken and Boxcar Betty's helped satisfy that love. While it may not be the greatest fried chicken I've ever had it still hit the spot. Ordered the Build Your Own Chicken Sandwich with fried chicken, pimiento cheese and housemade pickles and a side of fried green tomatoes. The fried green tomatoes were like burn-your-tongue-hott when they came out. They were a little too greasy for my taste and too large a serving for just one person. Really yummy ranch to dip in mmm mmm.

The result is meat that is naturally less tender and moist. I was going to ding them until I realized this; thus, it's not a criticism, just the reality of the cut. Their menu is incredibly simple! There are some options available (e.g., sandwich as plain, hot, honey, honey-hot). They also have fries, nuggets, and cans of soda. This simplicity means they're able to specialize very well and make deliciousness! I ordered a sandwich, honey-hot, with the standard mayo and pickles. The chicken was hot and crisp with a thin layer of scrumptious crust. The meat was cooked well, especially given the nature of chicken breast. The honey wasn't overdone and gave a pleasant sweetness. The heat reminded me of Tabasco sauce; while respectable, and the acidity helped add a new flavor dimension, the heat was minimal for my palate. It would be nice if Red Light offered an extra-hot option. The pickles and mayo were in perfect amounts, and the bread was a fresh brioche. Bonus points for the sando not falling apart on me, as happens with places that stuff massive, lopsided thighs to look pretty on Instagram. The service was lightning quick! I had the sandwich in hand less than a minute after ordering. Staff were friendly, welcoming, and polite also. The value is great! In a world where everything costs an arm and a leg, $8 for a reasonably sized chicken sandwich is more than reasonable. Finally, there is no indoor seating whatsoever. There are, however, ample standing-room tables around, with one having overhead heaters. Thus, while not necessarily a destination, Red Light Chicken is a phenomenal neighborhood chicken shop!

Luckily I had a discount and was able to try it most of the sides. It was french fries the mashed potatoes and the ethnic Mexican elote for corn on a stick with chili butter and Mayonnaise which I heard of and seen but never tried until now. Anyways starting with the mashed potatoes they were delicious. They were not too thick and texture nor was it too whipped. It was just right as well as the gravy that they use which is not too salty. The french fries had the right texture and crisp as well as the season that went well with it it wasn't too soggy and it wasn't too bland. The Mexican elote which I was surprised as a comedian named Leon Rogers mentioned about this Hispanic treat and I just didn't imagine chili powder with mayo on corn but now I taste the difference it is a wow delicious. As for the tune styles of cooking chicken between El jefe and crazy Chico I went for the crazy Chico. This one is Brian's in herbs. It was ok. A healthy choice to eat for dinner versus eating fried chicken but it was fresh but I didn't taste the wow it's not bad but it was not a wow good. When I come back next time I'm going to have to try the El jefe version and it comes in two different sizes I went for the quarter order. Service e was very friendly as I was the co-workers guest. As for the ambience it was very casual and minimal that's the way My co worker husband wanted it because they could focus on specialties versus having so many things in the menu and then lack the best of what to deliver. So far 4 out of 5 stars but will be coming back.

The more pickles the better!! What is new: these fried chicken wraps. OMG. I don't want to compare them to a mcdonalds snackwrap because that would be offensive to Budlong.... because the ones BL makes are just out of this world. As expected, the chicken size is great, it actually fills the wrap. I ended up ordering both the hot honey and the bbq. Both were awesome I just wish I got something with a little more spice. But I still will be ordering these again! I also tried the fried pickles for the first time which were great! I just wish they used dill pickles instead of bread+butter (I assumed they used this?) because they were a bit too sweet for me. But if you like bread and butter pickles you will love these. Next time I go I neeeeeed to try their plant based nuggets. I'm not vegan, but I LOVE vegan foods, and think more restaurants need to follow suit!
