My favorite Shake Shack in the city!! Prior to our current situation, I've dined in numerous times - for both lunch and dinner and every time it's a pleasurable experience. The crew is super nice, the store is always clean, and I can always find a seat. What more could you want?! I've been craving a Shack burger since our shelter-in-place order took effect, and the other day I decided I couldn't wait any longer and ordered Shake Shack delivery for lunch! Lucky for me this location is only about a mile or so away so my food arrived super quick, and was still warm! I ordered my usual: a double shack burger with cherry peppers and onions. YUM! Writing this review has me craving another one right now. Shake Shack did a nice job of packaging the order and stapled the bag shut, which is nice gesture. I was seriously so impressed that the burger tasted just as fresh and good as eating in! Cooked to perfection, juicy, cheese melted perfectly, with crisp and fresh lettuce and onion. Can't wait to return to this location when things settle down, but in the meantime I'll continue to order delivery and/or takeout! read more

Upon eating at this restaurant me and my companion noticed some things. We were ask for vaccination card but large group came in and sat down and was not asked for their cards. And they're good was brought to them vs him yelling out order name. But overall food was on point I jus didn't like the way the employee treated customers. Let me tell you..... This place deserved a 5/5 since the second my eyes landed on it. My friend recommended the Chik n' Shack and it was literally one of the best chicken sandwiches I have ever had in my life! My friend had a double burger and fries and they were super delicious as well! The entire place looked spotless on a busy Saturday evening and John, the person taking our order was super nice and helpful, which was great because it was my first time eating here! All in all, great experience, amazing food, and reasonable pricing. Lots of free parking available in the area, but you do need to hunt for it! P.s.: Their malts are absolutely YUMMMM!!! I came here twice in one week to try the delectable burger people have been raving about! They're good, I am not going to lie. I like the accoutrements, the fries, and the burger itself is seasoned to perfection. The atmosphere is very "burger shack" like. Open seating and good for big groups. The condiment bar has more that ketchup and mustard and the paper bags that the food is placed in is more upscale that your average burger joint. Parking is scarce, and the construction makes it difficult. However, the restaurant is right off of the Pink/Green line stop. read more

After watching a Try Guys video where Keith eats everything at shake shack, we decided to add the restaurant to our list of places to visit in Chicago. We both got a chicken sandwich, and for the price of seven dollars, it was really worth it. The chicken was hot and it was a rather large piece of chicken. They did not skimp on the pickles, as there was a pickle in every bite. Loved the mayo. We also ordered a cookies and cream milkshake, and it was one of the best milkshakes we had ever had. It was a bit confusing though since this wasn't on the menu. They have vanilla, chocolate, caramel, black and white, strawberry, peanut butter, and coffee. I assumed black and white may have been cookies n cream (a standard flavor in most places), but I asked and it wasn't (forgot what it was though). Shroom burger is amazingly delicious. Don't bite into it too fast, the melted cheese is hot! There are many options to customize your burger: lettuce wrap (remove bun), gluten-free bun ($1.00 up-charge) sliced onions, pickles, and bacon. I recommend ordering a side of the shacksauce. You can smear some on your burger or use it as a dipping sauce for your fries (my preference). So so good. Only sad part of Shake shack is that the price adds up. Like, take 85% of it came home with me because I couldn't drink too much at one time, rich. It's really good but a serious choc-o-holic's shake so you may need to take it in small doses. -Smoke Shack Burger - the single patty burger had bacon, diced up cherry peppers and shack sauce. This was truly a smokey type burger...I think it would go perfectly with a good smoked beer (cue Revolution's Chicago Smoke). Everything was done well on this burger. -Shroom Burger - I had never had this in my visits to Shake Shack before and pretty sure this is my new go to item. Well the store is definitely understaffed. The place is very filthy and no staff member even came out to clean the place. I paid $8 for a burger that is smaller the the palm of my hand and I'm not a big guy. The burger is very bland. I can go to McDonalds to get a higher quality burger. The cheese fries are not something to write about and the shake tastes like they put in scoops of ice cream with chocolate syrup. I attended on Day 2 of the grand opening of Shake Shake and it's jumping!!! What's uber miraculous about this location is it sits right on the corner in front of the very loud elevated CTA rail, but it's virtually quiet (and that train is loud!). The dining room is huge, they have several flat screens for your sports enthusiast or fans of the new season of the Bachelorette. I'm certain the staff will let you choose the channel, because the customer service was the best part of the experience. The cashier walked me through the wait process and everyone was so kind and really looked like they enjoyed working there - I love that energy and respect for ones craft. I don't know what's better - tasty meal or the value? You can't get any better than an $8 meal/pp. Where can you get quality food at less than $10? I don't know, if you do, please message me. We had a Shackburger sans cheese, Chicken Shack and yummy cheese fries. We sat outside on the red bench and people watched. We felt delightfully satisfied without any of the guilt associated with eating fast food. We decided to pass on the Shake. On a totally random and unrelated note, next door is a donut and chicken restaurant -- I feel like more people did a double take on that place as they were walking into Shake Shack. Oh, Shake Shack, how I love you and your cheese fries. The food here is a little pricey for fast food, but the quality is superb. When I first had their burger with a gluten free bun, I took it back to the counter to double-check that it was gluten free -- the bun looked TOO real! And the crinkle-cut french fries with the melted American cheese on top make my heart so so happy. The peanut butter shake is my all-time favorite, and an honorable mention goes to their seasonal mango lemonade. This location is right next to the el and dangerously convenient if you're heading back into the city from West Loop. There is no meal like a burger and fries together. Instead, the customer had to order two separate items. However, the beef patties were often cooked perfectly and evenly done, while the french fries were so fresh and crispy on the outside while still moist on the inside. Shack Stack is perhaps the most delicious fast-food burger with the cheeseburger, butter lettuce, tomato, and a deep-fried stuffed mushroom with melting Cheddar cheese inside. Shack and frozen custard were creamy and flavorful, but they were all excessively sweet to me. Not sure if soda is free refillable. read more

What a cute little joint! Walked in around 12:30ish and there was a little line. I stood there for a second to see if I wanted to wait and I decided to stand in line and to my surprise the line moved fast. Still trying to decide on what I want, I just ordered the Smoke Shack with bacon, fried and a peanut butter milkshake (yes I had to have gained an additional 100lbs). The burger was good but ended up getting soggy at the end, so I didn't completely finish it. Fries were good but the best part of the meal was the peanut butter milkshake!!!! Soooooo good and rich. Definitely true peanut butter inside. Total bill was roughly $17 and some change...so this place is VERY expensive in my opinion. Good thing I didn't pay for it. We planned to order food for takeout in this place and we will eat it at the park. My girl is waiting in the car while I order this food. It took a minute before it came. Staff gave it to me and put it in a box. When we open it in the park it's not messy. I'm glad that it is not. It looks beautiful. The box has 2 pieces of pizza, fries, cheese and sausage. We also bought 2 drinks. The burger tasted great. The patty was juicy and flavorful. It's not hard and it's good to bite. It also has a veggie and I love it. Overall: Shake Shack has some of the best fast food burgers and fries around! I've been to several different Shake Shacks in Chicago and also in Las Vegas (which is very nice, btw), so this one can be added to the list of great, quality locations for this franchise. It's located right across the street from Federales in the west loop, and surprisingly, on a Friday after 5pm wasn't crowded at all! The staff was very friendly and our food was fresh and ready within about 10 minutes. I typically get burgers, but for the first time I order the spicy chicken sandwich and I was not disappointed! Their fries are also always always always amazing! I'm a big fan of crinkle cut, so next to Portillos, this place is basically heaven. Mediocre and overpriced. $16 bought me a hamburger that would have been more appropriate coming out of a McDonald's, some unimpressive crinkle fries, and an utterly average milkshake. The burger was small, the sauce for it had just a hint of peppery heat that was lost amidst its generally runny character, and it still managed to be sloppy to eat. The fries didn't really taste like much of anything, which I guess is better than being offensive, but they brought nothing to the table. And for a place called the Shake Shack, they manage to not really do anything special with their signature name product. Now, if this were just an ordinary fast-food dive, I would say "meh," and move on. But it isn't, because I paid close to double what I would in a dive. Definitely more convenient for me than River North or Michigan Ave., I was surprised to find a legal parking space just across the street. I'll admit sometimes whether or not I'll stop depends on parking. It was later in the day and I needed to either pick something up for dinner or make it which would have made it even a later day after cleanup, so knowing that they had a 'shroom burger as an alternative I was in. Make no mistake, although the 'shroom burger is meatless, it's not health food, it's filled with cheese and crispy deep fried. It is a great alternative to a burger made out of a cow, and it's tasty. If you're giving up meat for whatever reason, and want that fast food fix, this will get you there. If you're giving up meat for the health benefits, then this should be an occasional sin, eat it, enjoy it, and move on. Better to grill up some portabellas at home, I like to skip the bread and top it with swiss cheese. This is what I should have done, ah could have, should have comes into play. The other could have I did resist. Seeing that my favorite shake the Black & White comes in at 750cals, I decided to skip it and opted for the iced tea. I decided that I was going to have a choice of either eating my dinner or drinking it. Not only as a calorie savings, but out of comfort. Since I've stopped meat, the idea of super heavy meals isn't appealing. Service was friendly, food came up fast, no complaints everything was as expected. I'd stop in here more often if I were doing the fast food thing. I do appreciate that they have an option with something on a bun that isn't chicken or fish as the thing to have instead of a burger, or a salad, even though I have a new appreciation for those, at times that gets old. I came here before work. Decided to go with the Shack-cago Dog and cheese fries. I do wish I chose the bacon cheese fries instead because I tried the ones my friend got and they were AMAZING! Everything was fresh but for some odd reason the hot dog was bland (I usually enjoy Chicago style dogs very much). I'm pretty sure this place has both suburban and city locations but there's no "wow" factor about it (except the bacon cheese fries - but we can find those at other places too) so I can't give them the full 5 stars but I would recommend this place to anyone who's looking for some fresh but quick bites if this place is in their vicinity. read more

Best part of the visit was the crinkle cut fries. Fried to perfection and not salty. The setup at the entrance is odd. When you open the door, the "barricade" or line divider forces you to enter the line that leads you to the counter. What if someone was just coming in to take a look at the menu without wanting to stay? I understand the intention of being efficient with incoming guests but the place is never packed so it doesn't warrant this setup. The two of us each ordered a Shack burger with sauce on the side. We shared an order of the crinkle cut fries. The buzzer alerted us to our food being ready and when we picked it up, the sauce was incorporated into the burger, not on the side as requested. They agreed to remake the burger. The line cook at the kitchen was nice enough to bring out the new burgers to our table but she was so thoroughly uninspiring. Literally brought our burgers with a monotonous face and not a smile or response when we thanked her. This time our burger came without sauce, period. It wasn't even on the side. Oh never mind. The best part of the burger was the patty and the top bun. The bottom bun was flat/squashed and a tad greasy. Loved the fries though. The condiment table needs to be wiped down periodically. The bottom of the canister with plastic knives should be cleaned. Each plastic knife that I took from the canister had ketchup stains at the bottom?! I live a stone's throw from here but not sure if I would be clamoring to return. Honestly, I seldom go in here but after visiting the place just recently, I think I will most likely to become a regular customer. First of all, the place is clean and the interior is definitely different and kind of interesting in this place. The interior is different in a good way and the vibe is nice.
