Pepper Steak sandwich-same great taste as I remember from the 1970's!
    Shiro V.

I haven't had the Pepper Steak sandwich from the Submariner since growing up in the 1970's in this neighborhood and walked to this restaurant with my siblings. Same great taste! I highly recommend this restaurant-especially the Pepper Steak Friendly staff!

This has to be one of Westchester's hidden gem. The food here is amazing. After finding this on Yelp, I decided to try it. To my surprise, when I walked in, I was greeted by the owners. They're a mom and pop Korean couple, but it looks like they become accustomed to making great philly cheesesteak sandwiches. I ended up ordering the Western Bacon Cheeseburger combo, and it was delicious. The onion rings were crunchy, the bacon was crispy, the cheese melted and was nice and gooey. The fries were seasoned well. The burger was still hot, I can see steam coming out with every bite. Not only does this serve good food, they also sell lotto tickets and scratchers! Next time you're in Westchester ordering wonderful food, grab a lotto ticket for a change to hit the jackpot as well. I'm keeping this place in mind and will have to add it to my restaurants on rotation.

What they claim is on their Philly cheese steak.

I ordered a Philly cheese steak and it came with lettuce and tomato. What the hell is that crap? I ordered a PHILLY CHEESE STEAK not a chopped cheese, you don't even have a chopped cheese on your menus but that's what your serving. You swapped out the ground beef for steak put lettuce and tomato on it. Just because there's steak doesn't make it a PHILLY CHEESE STEAK. You don't even know what sandwich you're serving. There were no peppers, onions, mushrooms, like your menu says. Image attached. Who the heck wants warm lettuce in a sandwich. Imposter ass "Philly cheese steak" taste wise...it was slightly lower than mid. Try something else from this place I guess.

I visited again the other day. I was craving a cheese steak sandwich, but have been trying to eat healthier, so I got the half sandwich and fries combo, substituting the fries with salad. It was just enough to satisfy my cravings.

Served on rye that is double baked and has the most amazing crunch crust. For me, bread with a real crust, nothing better! They also serve other items, full breakfast and lunch menu served during their open hours, but seriously we all come here for the amazing pastrami! To start, they have a parking lot a short walk away, validate for 90 minutes, plenty of time to eat. There can be lines, but I try to time it on a weekday before the lunch crowd hits! The staff is very friendly from the host station to the servers to the cashier. Many have probably worked there for years! They all seem very happy along with the customers chowing down their pastrami! Once inside there is seating at the counter or cozy booths. The menu can be a bit overwhelming, but trust that any way you want your pastrami sandwich, you can have it! I went with a friend, who at the moment is on a pastrami only diet. He was just in NYC, eating at several well known places for pastrami, yet still craving more when he returned! We split a sandwich, with coleslaw on the side so he could build his sandwich his way. I am a purest with pastrami, nothing but mustard! The pastrami here is thick cut, tender, something to ENJOY not bury! They offer a few mustards and other condiments on the table. Yellow is what pairs best with pastrami, IMO. We also ordered Pastrami Chili Fries. Now this was my first time trying them. OMG, I went to heaven! The pastrami of course was amazing, but the gravy/chili was just as amazing. Some heat but not a lot, just perfect! We ended with a slice of carrot cake, it was okay but who comes for the dessert! My favorite thing, after the Pastrami of course, Langer's Ceam Soda from the fountain! OMG the best cream soda. They also offer Dr. Browns by the bottle. Langer's in located in MacArthur Park District. You can see the lake out the windows, nice view. It used to be a very nice part of LA, not any longer, but there is still this GEM of a deli to check out if you are visiting LA or live locally, well worth the drive. Even Hewell Hauser couldn't get enough of it! They also have been received Beard awards and are included in the Michelin Guide. Very impressive for a family owned business! For those that frequent or live on the West Side, Norm's daughter Trisha has a place called Daughter's Deli. Same excellent pastrami and rye bread! I have been there many times and seen Trisha and sometimes Norm there working hard! They are in the process of opening up in the new location soon in Sunset Plaza (former Chin Chin spot) and I plan to frequent it as soon as they open! I am up there once a month!

Order online and have some jump out of the car to pick up your order. There is no seating inside but maybe a chair or two outside. The neighborhood is a little rough around the edges so you may want to get that food to go. We tried three sandwiches and they were all huge. The crispy chicken caesar wrap is phenomenal and I am not one who usually orders this particular sandwich anywhere. It comes with a creamy sauce that I might have drank directly from the little cup. The wrap is packed full of chicken and it is refreshing and excellent. It doesn't look huge but trust me, the wrap is packed full and you will be plenty satisfied. The Antonia sandwich comes with turkey, cheese, avocado, tomato, and garlic aioli. It isn't all that unique a creation but for what it is, it is very fresh and very good. It came loaded with delicious turkey. The Martha sandwich (chicken salad, apples, fennel, argula, herbs, etc.) is on special right now. Personally, I am not a big chicken salad guy but you get a lot of it and the person in our party who ordered it liked it a lot. We also tried the arancini and they were excellent. You get three arancini balls and fantastic vodka sauce on the side. This is a winner. To be honest, practically the entire menu sounds great to me. If you're visiting the area, I highly recommend making a stop here. My biggest piece of advice is to go early because it gets incredibly busy by lunchtime--and for good reason! Keep in mind they are closed on Monday and Tuesday. While you can order online, I'll always choose to go inside so I can browse everything they have to offer. Their selection of fresh pasta salads is fantastic, and the desserts are always tempting. Whether you're craving lasagna, spaghetti and meatballs, a chicken Parmesan sandwich, or one of their many other Italian specialties, you really can't go wrong. Be sure to check out the wine section in the back left of the market. It's extensive and absolutely incredible! This is the kind of place that keeps people coming back year after year, and it's easy to see why. Being Italian American and growing up with an Italian mother who loved feeding everyone, this was one of our favorite places to visit together. Those memories make every trip here even more special. My personal favorite is the Godmother sandwich--hands down one of the best you'll ever have. It's packed with flavor, made with quality ingredients, and it's the sandwich I find myself craving every time I come back. One of the things I love most about this place is the atmosphere. It has an energy that immediately makes you think of family. Everyone is genuinely kind, welcoming, and happy to help, making you feel right at home the moment you walk through the door. It has that warm, old-school Italian family vibe that's becoming harder and harder to find, and it's a big part of what makes this place so special.
