I have lived in Hackettstown for many years now and had never really heard anything about this deli so I never went. This past weekend I decided to try it out and went with a friend thinking it had to be pretty good to have been around as long as it has. I ordered a turkey and cheese sub and he ordered a reuben. Unfortunately we got it to go because if I had eaten it there I would have brought it right back. The meat looked very cheap and was slimy...yuck! My stomach is turning just thinking about it! My friends reuben was good though so maybe they have some good things on their menu but I expect a sandwich shop to have quality meat. Dont think I will be returning. read more

The best subs ever. Period. They were recently featured on NJ.com as one of the best sub places in all of NJ. They are correct.

The food was pretty good here and the service was accommodating, but they don't have a whole lot choices outside of your basic deli meats and sandwich products. They don't have whole wheat rolls, or any other wraps besides the basic wraps. Just your average deli spot. read more

We used to love this place. Last few times we went in it seemed dirty. I ordered 2 subs and when I left I decided not to eat mine since I was pretty grossed out. I'm glad I didn't because my husband began violently vomiting about 8 hours later and he had been sick ever since. I even have our sub still in our refrigerator and should have them looked at for traces of food born illness. Thank goodness I did not feed this to my children. The slicers looked slimy and dirty. There was some sort of sludge on the prep table where they were cutting our sandwiches but no one bothered to wipe it up. Everything was uncovered and it just overall felt extremely unsanitary. Best sub place in town. Loaded with everything you could want. Pickles cost extra, which is annoying, but they are well worth it. People behind the counter are always very nice. It can get crowded waiting in line, as there is very little space to manuever. There are a copule of chairs at a counter, but the sandwiches are really meant to be taken to go. My wife and I used to walk here, then walk up to Centenary's campus to find a picnic table to eat. Great times. read more

Small place, giant subs. Skip subway or Quiznos, because you're wasting your money! The subs here are huge, and you get your money's worth. Very tasty, quick service, nicely wrapped subs to go. I love the club and my husband likes the roast beef. I usually order the regular and save half for my lunch the following day. This is a take out place. Will not visit here again. The food wasn't anything special but my main complaints are about the sanitation of the deli worker we encountered. The worker had gloves on (which was great) but was making sandwiches and also handling money without changing gloves. It was gross to see the person handle dollar bills only to have their hands dip into the fresh mozzarella sitting in its juices a minute later to make a sandwich. The worker was not a young person and it seemed to me that she either ran the place and has been there for years. To me this lack of cleanliness should be common sense and will be the reason why I will not visit here again. read more

So this place has been around since the 70's from the sign inside and it looks like it has not been updated since, which i usually take as a good sign (who cares what the place looks like if the food is good). Two nice women were inside when i stopped. The Sub was good, but not great. if i lived in the area and this was my only option i would go back, but this is not a place i would make a special trip to visit or anything. definitely better than subway or any other fast food type place, but not what i expected from a shop that is almost 40 years old. read more

Had the chicken cordon bleu sandwich... unedible! Chicken was like a cut up car tire. My buddy got a regular cold-cut sandwich that he's happy with though. I guess if you eat here, stick with cold-cut sandwiches! read more

Great chicken salad! Loved the chicken salad compared to others. The price was very reasonable for the portions. The only down side is the bread offering. I would have liked a kaiser roll insead of sub roll. Next time I will order it with rye. My friend ordered a roast beef sub with other meats and the half sub was huge. I went back for the pastrami and cornbeef the next day. It was good but can't compare to Harold's or city delis east of there. - Everything is delicous! They do not except credit cards, they have an ATM located inside. I am a fan! I will be back! read more

I have been in the sub shack several times and all times were greated by fairly friendly women. One point of concern is I never saw them use gloves when making sandwiches. x3 occassions. They get the meat out of a sliding glass cooler which they open with thier hands and use the same hands to handle the meat/cheese. The extras are also put on with gloveless hands. With the flu scare out there this concerns me. Is this not a health violation? read more

this place is a GEM of hackettstown. absolutely obsessed. first off all the ladies are so sweet and personable always like to chat with them. the #4 is a staple in my diet literally eat it once a week, theres just something about that sandwich so juicy and tasty. all of the homemade salads are to die for. two words- COLE SLAW***** this cole slaw will change your life, as will the pickles and pickled eggs when they've got them. great selection of chips and drinks. stewarts sodas and jones teas. sub shack is like my religion and i preach it to everyone in town. NEVER been disappointed whatsoever and believe me i have tried plenty of menu items. you guys rule read more
