Definitely enjoy this place. We have been here numerous times. The bagels are great with cream cheese or butter. They have all kinds of bagels but you have to get their early if it is a local favorite. Once they run out they are out. Their sandwiches are awesome bacon egg and cheese or the Taylor ham egg and cheese. You cannot go wrong. I have never had lunch there or ate in but they do have a lunch menu that looks pretty good. I will have to update my review once I try the Ruben, because that is one of my favorites but it is not easy to make. So we shall see. As I was saying they do have inside and outside seating which is nice. The service is always friendly and they are working to get your order out as fast as possible. I was in the area but was apprehensive about coming here because of the low Yelp rating. Lots of comments about the staff mostly but I have to say, they were wonderful! The older woman greeted me with a big hello and a smile. Eager to help me even though she was already checking out a customer. She took my order and quickly went about preparing it. The younger gentleman rang me up in the meantime. And when he gave me the total to my sandwich, I was aghast at how cheap it was! Soooo incredibly affordable! My BLT was perfect and the bread was toasted just right! Also wanted to add that this place has LOTS of parking! So why not 5 stars? The place IS a little dated. You could see the wear BUT everything was still neat and in order. The booths and seating area could use a brightening. And the big reason not 5 stars, it's a cash only operation. I live locally, and I often drive by- just never stopped in. After my first experience, they earned a regular! I mentioned in passing I dropped my dog off at the vet, and the cashier gave me a thing of bacon to give to Gizmo for after his appointment. How sweet is that?! I think the last time I actually had good service there was back in 2016. I say that because that is when the owner's nephew and actual workers with a good head on their shoulders and a knack for customer service used to be there. Ever since then you have a better chance at winning the lottery then getting your order right. I have no problem supporting local businesses in the area but enough is enough especially after you call and get yelled at to bring back the order and they will refund the money. First thing they do is blame the customer but how you get a Turkey sandwich mixed up with an Italian and the rest of the order is right is beyond me. So how can you tell me that my husband gave the wrong number for pickup when the rest of the order was right. The other weekend we got the 3 egg omelette with cheese without the cheese, the sausage and cheese with hot sauce was 1 sausage patty no cheese and not hot sauce, the TC with SP turned out to be with an egg and no SP, and then my favorite was a sausage egg and cheese was a sausage Taylor ham egg and cheese. Coming from someone who has worked in a deli and especially at 5:30am opening writing down an order and making it is not difficult. Maybe it's a lack of management and direction but good luck. The sad part is everyone is all worried about how a Dunkin Donuts might go in across the street and take away customers. Well if they focused on putting out a good product and good customer service at least 90% of the time then maybe they could continue to hold onto the large loyal customer base but that would mean they would have to get the order right. For Mother's Day, they did not include my mom's part of the order. We called, they didn't answer. We went back, they were closed. Turkey wrap didn't have anything besides Turkey and we asked for lettuce and cheese. BLT didn't have enough bacon and tomatoes were mushy. Turkey club was good but toast was overdone. I've been coming here since I was a teenager in middle school. Even back then they would frequently get orders wrong but at least it was cheap. Now the same sandwich I've gotten for over a decade that literally only has meat and cheese costs nearly $7. And I still often leave and notice they forget the cheese or add an egg (which I can't eat). Its a sandwich with two ingredients. Today was it for me, I was the only customer and they still forgot one of two ingredients on the sandwich. I've become fed up. If you want good, decently priced food with good and accurate service then this is NOT the place. The only benefit of the establishment is that all the employees are very kind, which is the only reason it even deserves a single star. read more

Every time I order from here (the same thing) the price is drastically different. I once asked for hot sauce & mayo on my sub and THEY DRENCHED IT in both, I was basically eating mayonnaise. Their hours mon-fri say open until 4, today i called and the phone was rudely answered yelling "we closed at threeeee" i just hung up because i was appalled. Bagels are good. Getting what you order seems to be a challenge. Ordered everything bagel with bacon, egg, and cheese, sesame bagel with bacon, egg, and cheese, and sesame bagel with egg and cheese. Ended up with 3 sandwiches 2 bagels, one kaiser roll, all loaded with ketchup, ewww. It's alright... they finally improved their bagels, the coffee is okay as well. However, in my opinion they are too expensive for just about everything that they sell. I guess the location has enabled them to raise the prices and not worry about losing customers. That said, there are better options at the Gourmet gallery in town, and Cafe Nelle by North Warren Pharmacy. However, those two can also be hit or miss as well. read more

This place is a hit or miss. Typically the bagels are hard as a rock, but I went the other day and to my surprise my bagel was actually chewable. However their deli meat sandwiches are a rip off for the price. As well COUNT YOUR CHANGE. I was ripped off and called to talk to the owner. I heard him in the background asking why I called, explained it to the girl, and he said he didn't want to speak with me! The polite girl offered for me to come back and get my change but that wasn't my point. Several times my family and I have been shorted. This is not the kind of business I want to support, but there aren't many places in this small town to go.. It's a shame how much the quality has gone down and the prices gone up. I used to be a steady customer (at least once a week if not more)but now I only been in a few times this year and been very disappointed. I loved the Chuck's chicken finger sandwich but they changed the type of chicken fingers they use and it was terrible last time I had it. I decided to stop in for a everything Omelette and coffee. The coffee was terrible I dumped half of it down the sink, the omelette was ok but not the same quality as it used to be and the toast was burned and I couldn't quite make out if it was white, rye, wheat or what??? The owners really need to be there to run their business and not rely on a bunch of young people to do it, they may be nice kids but it's not their business and they won't care whether the customers are happy or not. Sorry Doghouse you are really nice people but I'm not going to pay top dollar for less than par food. Instead of updating the place you need to work on the quality of the food. read more

First of all, I am not an aficionado of bagels or anything remotely related to things that NJ residents love, like Taylor Ham, but instead, am a friend of someone who has family in the area and recommended stopping in and getting a bagel while in the area to visit NYC. Let me say first that I had a famous NY bagel while in the city and wasn't impressed by all the hype of friends who insisted that the bagels in this part of the country were the best. It tasted similar to the bagels that I purchase at my local market in SC, so color me not impressed. UNTIL we were on our way out of town heading home, and we stopped at the Doghouse to grab a bagel for the trip. My expectations were not very high. But I was unprepared for the goodness that awaited me when I peered into the foil. The bagel was toasted perfectly, warm and crunchy on the outside, the inside soft and chewy with a beautiful flaky texture. The veggie cream cheese loaded with REAL veggies, not the freeze-dried soup mix variety. I couldn't stop exclaiming, "O my God.", It was the best thing I had on my entire trip to NYC and it was in a small town, mom and pop deli-bagel shop in New Jersey. I was very happy to have my original let-down of the bagel hype reversed and oh how I wish I had ordered a dozen of the everything bagels and container of cream cheese. The BEST! read more
