Clove Brook Market Bakery Deli - Best homemade pies in all of Sussex county. Fresh fruit not preserves 2 inches thick. Best bakery hands down!

I've been going to this deli for the past two years and have noticed several things:…read more 1. The sandwiches contain less meat than they used to and are priced higher. They employ an old deli trick of piling the meat in the center of the sandwich which when cut in half makes it look like it has more meat than it really does. The recent Jersey sandwich which contains corned beef, roast beef and turkey had only two slices of corned beef. 2. Different employees will charge or not charge sales tax on the sandwiches and prepared salads. 3. The baked goods are very over priced. I mean come on, $12.95 for a 7 in. by 7 in. crumb cake (yes I measured it).. On the plus side all the employees I've encountered are always courteous and hard working. My wife likes the prepared salads but they are now over $10.00. If the price increases continue at the current rate I will have to go elsewhere although in Sussex county the choices are limited.

Man, this is why I love traveling so much! We are in NJ/NY this weekend and I have been…read moreanticipating the coffee and bagels. Despite our best efforts in NC, it just isn't the same. As luck would have it, right next door to our motel was The Bagel Tree. Upon entering, you are immediately hit with the overwhelming aromas of steaming bagels and really good coffee. If you weren't that hungry or thirsty before, you are now. There is a plethora of bagels to choose from ("Would you say I have a plethora of bagels?" "Oh yes El Guapo, you have a plethora"...haha, damn that was a good movie...) I decided to go for the tried and true bedrock of the bagel world, an Everything Bagel. A sausage egg and cheese everything bagel sandwich to be more precise. Absolutely delicious. Couldn't be any more of what I wanted. Bagel just completely crusted with toppings! And using whatever North Eastern magic, just about every speck of them stays on the bagel while you eat it! Utterly fascinating and enjoyable. Sausage was probably the same pre-made, frozen disc every place uses, eggs were actually real and cooked on a flat top, the cheese was some non-descript version of Kraft singles that was all melty and gooey - again, exactly everything you could want out of a bagel sandwich. The coffee was Lacas brand. Never heard of it before now, but it was really good. I am, admittedly, a bit of a coffee snob. I have the good fortune to have spent quite a bit of time in Europe and I have been to Central & South America a dozen times, so I feel like I have enough worldly coffee experience to express an educated opinion: Lacas Coffee, pretty darn good. And it's self serve at The Bagel Tree, so you can personalize it however you want! Awesome The service was fine. I'm a tourist, not a regular, so I can't say whether or not it's improved or declined. There were about 8 dudes from a tree service company already in the store when I rolled in, and it took less than 6min to order, get my coffee and then walk out with my bagel. I'm not complaining. I'm really looking forward to trying other bagel shops in the area, especially ones in NY, but if I was only able to go to The Bagel Tree this trip, I wouldn't be disappointed at all. If you're ever in the area, give it a try!

Best breakfast-for-dinner ever…read more We stumbled upon this absolute gem on a freezing, rainy evening after an outdoor event, just looking for a warm bite to eat around dinner time. My partner found this spot while searching nearby, and oh how happy I am that he did! I had been craving blueberry pancakes for days and was so excited to have a rare breakfast-for-dinner treat. From the moment we walked in, the warmth of the place completely melted the cold away. We were greeted by a wonderful, incredibly kind waitress, and the atmosphere inside was just so cozy and comforting. There was a lovely mix of people having their supper, including a sweet family of seven eating dinner together at the table next to us. It just had that perfect, welcoming community feel. The menu was seriously impressive. My other half ordered the southern chicken sausage gravy dinner, and it was phenomenal! I got my blueberry pancakes- my absolute favorite - and they completely exceeded expectations. I also tried the lentil soup, which was packed with flavor. Honestly, I don't think you could have a bad meal here if you tried. Our waitress (the same lovely woman who greeted us) chatted with us for a bit and was just so delightful and attentive. I even spotted a rice pudding with strawberries and whipped cream on the dessert menu that looked right up my alley, but between my pancakes and stealing a few delicious bites of the chicken dinner, I was far too full this time around! As we left, I noticed the pretty flowers and the outdoor picnic tables. I'm sure this place absolutely hops on weekend mornings, but it was the perfect rainy evening escape for us. Thank you so much for your incredible hospitality-we are officially adding this to our regular rotation when we are in the area.
