I usually stop at Bagel Bistro when I'm on my way to work and haven't had time for breakfast. Even calling ahead by 4-5 minutes is enough to have my standard order of an egg sandwich ready by the time I arrive. I'd say these bagels have a bready interior, and an unusually soft exterior to them. I personally prefer a lighter, airier, crunchier bagel, but hey - points for consistency. Their poppy and everything variants do have less dense coatings than those at other bagel places, which makes the flavor and texture less pronounced. They were friendly when you walk in but they don't have their menu written down anywhere! She had to rattle it off for us over and over. I gave this place a 4 star rating based on the food itself. I normally grab a bacon egg and cheese on a roll and so far they have always been spot on. Cooked perfect every time, rolls very fresh and the serving is just right. The ambience is what you would expect from a New Jersey bagel place. Lastly I want to point out the things that need improvement. First it's incredibly loud there, you're going to see a lot of customers there depending on what time you come in. I've been to this place approximately 6 times, on one occasion my food sat for a very long time while I waited, it wasn't until one of the employees ask " what's this guy waiting on" so that I can receive my order, that day I waited close to an hour for a bacon egg and cheese. They also don't accept credit or debit cards neither but they have an ATM inside. Overall this place has the potential to be the best if they address their shortcomings . read more

The sandwiches are fine - if it's all you do you should be decent at it. The service is subpar. Ordered ahead, got there, line was out the door. They don't have a line specified for pick up so got on line with everyone else. When I finally go to the front of the line I was ignored for a full five minutes. Finally one of the teenaged girls on the wait staff (the entire staff appears limited to teenage girls who's parents never taught them any manners) looked over my head and shouted "who's next!" (I get I'm only 5'2 but seriously). When I said (somewhat assertively I admit) "Me, I'm next!", she rolled her eyes like it was me being rude, and when I gave her my name for the order, just shoved the bag at me without another glance. Easy there Will P.. You went there what? Once? You caught them on a good day. The key to a good place to eat is consistency and the Bagel Bistro does not know the meaning of the word. I have been to the Bagel Bistro a half dozen times since they opened and each time is a different experience. The first few months they were very good. In fact they rivaled Bagel Station down Rt. 15. BUT, all good things get worse if the consistency falters. Today, for example, took my daughter in for a bagel and piece of crumb cake. Got about a mile down the road and discovered almost not butter on the bagel and the crumb cake was obviously several days old. Fortunately I had the time to go back and show them the lack of quality in the crumb cake. Hard top and stale bottom. The counter girl (Obviously high school help, was excellent in the way she handled the situation and was very apologetic. She showed the crumb cake to the m who refused to look me in the eye or ditch the obviously three-day old crumb cake. Sorry, I have tried the Bagel Bistro many times, and the quality of food is just too inconsistent. Bagel Station - best in town CONSISTENTLY!!! read more

Bagels are great, listening skills of people taking an order... awful!! So why bother asking how someone wants their food if you're not going to prepare it right? A simple request of a toasted bagel w scallion cream cheese.. somehow an oat bagel w plain cc not toasted is sufficient to them I guess. Came in today to get something to eat. The girls behind the counter were very fast and helpful. They toasted the bagels to perfection and had the right amount of butter and cream cheese. The pasty's are very tasty soft. From now on this is the place to go very friendly and very helpful. read more

When working at Newton Hospital we would order from Bagel Bistro on a near daily basis- We NEVER had any complaints. The bagels are always fresh and of such great variety. Called ahead of time to determine closing. Although the hot food ends a 1/2 hour before closing I was assured that I could get a cold sandwich up until closing. The front door states that they are open until 2:30PM, however I was told that is when the go home. ( I was there a few minutes before 2:30). So I got nothing for my visit. Went here on 10/5/13. My bagel was good, sesame with Cream Cheese. The only problem was that they only take cash and the ATM wasn't working. The cashier was apologetic and we wrote a check, because they accept those. Be prepared for that. read more

The FRESHEST most AMAZING bagels I've ever had in my entire 30 years of life!!! My friend brought bagels over to my house one day from here and ever since then I've been ADDICTED. I live over an hour away in Easton, PA - every single time my friend is coming over or we're meeting up, I ask her to pick me up some bagels from here. I've never once stepped foot in here and have probably eaten 7 dozen bagels so far from here!!! Hopefully one day I'll get the chance to come on in and give everyone there a hug. One time I didn't see my friend for over a week and I almost drove the hour to get the bagel but with a 2 year old that was nearly impossible. So I went to the grocery store & picked up some from their bakery... the next day they were moldy. When my friend brings me bagels from the bagel bistro, they are FRESH for over a week almost 2 weeks! Usually I eat them all before then anyways but they keep fresh for so long!!! Good bagels, but if i am going to be in the area i prefer bagel station. I've done blind taste tests with friends to determine which are the best bagels in the county and these were 3/5. These are slightly smaller and the quality of meat isn't as good as the station. Drive another 10 minutes up newton sparta rd for another star. read more

Let me say they get ONE star for their poor customer service! I drove by many bagel/deli locations on my way home from Mt. Olive, but I LOVE their Italian sandwich! I checked to make sure they were still open and my luck they were till 2:30! YAY! Wrong.. While open still everything was put up and when they asked what I wanted they said the slicer was already cleaned and wouldn't make it for me. Super disappointed as I love to support our local restaurants in Andover. The counter girl at least tried while the other girl who apparently cleaned the slicer said, no. When we picked up our food, the manager excused his employee's attitude and behavior on the fact that they were busy. If you're that busy, don't answer the phone. When it run out of apple turnovers by 930 in the morning everyday, that's a sign you need to make more. I would rather have to many and throw one or two out rather than not have them for customers. When I mentioned that to the employee she gave me a nasty attitude, told me she wasn't the owner she just worked there. Well sorry with your nasty attitude I sure won't be going back here for anything. It's not the first time I have gotten a shitty attitude from the employees. Not one of the employees is personable. When I'm spending my money at a place it would be nice if the person helping you could at least have a small talk conversation and be happy that you are spending your money there.
