I usually stop at Bagel Bistro when I'm on my way to work and haven't had time for breakfast. Even calling ahead by 4-5 minutes is enough to have my standard order of an egg sandwich ready by the time I arrive. I'd say these bagels have a bready interior, and an unusually soft exterior to them. I personally prefer a lighter, airier, crunchier bagel, but hey - points for consistency. Their poppy and everything variants do have less dense coatings than those at other bagel places, which makes the flavor and texture less pronounced. If you stop, make sure you have cash, or you'll have to pay ATM fees to get cash. No credit cards accepted. read more

The Bagel Bistro - Egg sandwich on a plain bagel - Bagels Near Me - Newton, New Jersey

Cash only, they do not take cards, as stated on here and Google. Inconvenient when you want to buy breakfast for the office. Its 2025. read more

My husband and I loved the bagels here. The room is clean, nicely arranged and has lots of seating. There was a wide choice of bagel varieties and the young man behind the counter was especially helpful and courteous. We will definitely be back! read more

Excellent bagels and service. Best bagel shop in Sparta area and the staff is always friendly.

Quick service and friendly staff. Great coffee and hot breakfast sandwiches at an awesome location. Lots of seating so you don't have to eat in your car. Definitely worth stopping at to eat. read more

Love the morning breakfast sandwiches!!! Bagels are awesome also!!! Staff is always friendly and welcoming. read more

Best bagel around the area!!! Bagels are always very soft. Highly recommend! Service is always great as well

They were friendly when you walk in but they don't have their menu written down anywhere! She had to rattle it off for us over and over. Their bagel combinations are strange and it was difficult to know what we were ordering. They weren't tasty and none of us ate our choices. Total waste of money and LOTs of time waiting. Love the building though. Beautifully restored. read more

The food is delicious I eat at this place about 3-4 times a week. The service is great is whenever I go in to pick my order the staff are very friendly and courteous. I always get good vibes when I walk into the Bagel Bistro the customers always seem happy and to be enjoying their food. I definitely recommend this place to everyone! read more

I gave this place a 4 star rating based on the food itself. I normally grab a bacon egg and cheese on a roll and so far they have always been spot on. Cooked perfect every time, rolls very fresh and the serving is just right. The ambience is what you would expect from a New Jersey bagel place. Lastly I want to point out the things that need improvement. First it's incredibly loud there, you're going to see a lot of customers there depending on what time you come in. I've been to this place approximately 6 times, on one occasion my food sat for a very long time while I waited, it wasn't until one of the employees ask " what's this guy waiting on" so that I can receive my order, that day I waited close to an hour for a bacon egg and cheese. They also don't accept credit or debit cards neither but they have an ATM inside. Overall this place has the potential to be the best if they address their shortcomings . read more

It's a bagel place. It's not fine dining....nor is that expected. One thing that annoys is thus though. If you say you're open to a certain time, be open until that time. When your staff looks at a customer with "oh no!!" Eyes when I walk in 10 minutes before closing, it's not good. When you turn customers away because your staff has alreadgi0 minutes before clo read more

Awesome everything Bagel... and this coming from a New Yorker. Living & working in NYC I was throughly impressed with the quality of their bagels. First great bagel shop in Jersey I've found. read more

The best bagels I've had anywhere! Mostly takeout but a few tables inside. Service is good and the grill is well managed. The sandwiches for parties and the "giant letter bagels" are always a hit when I do seminars! read more

Easy there Will P.. You went there what? Once? You caught them on a good day. The key to a good place to eat is consistency and the Bagel Bistro does not know the meaning of the word. I have been to the Bagel Bistro a half dozen times since they opened and each time is a different experience. The first few months they were very good. In fact they rivaled Bagel Station down Rt. 15. BUT, all good things get worse if the consistency falters. Today, for example, took my daughter in for a bagel and piece of crumb cake. Got about a mile down the road and discovered almost not butter on the bagel and the crumb cake was obviously several days old. Fortunately I had the time to go back and show them the lack of quality in the crumb cake. Hard top and stale bottom. The counter girl (Obviously high school help, was excellent in the way she handled the situation and was very apologetic. She showed the crumb cake to the m who refused to look me in the eye or ditch the obviously three-day old crumb cake. Sorry, I have tried the Bagel Bistro many times, and the quality of food is just too inconsistent. Bagel Station - best in town CONSISTENTLY!!! read more

A great spot for a quick breakfast or lunch. Excellent coffee, delicious bagels, good sandwiches, and a killer Taylor ham-egg-&-cheese. Also worth a look: the cider doughnuts, chocolate croissants, and the very friendly, helpful staff. Highly recommended. read more

The sandwiches are fine - if it's all you do you should be decent at it. The service is subpar. Ordered ahead, got there, line was out the door. They don't have a line specified for pick up so got on line with everyone else. When I finally go to the front of the line I was ignored for a full five minutes. Finally one of the teenaged girls on the wait staff (the entire staff appears limited to teenage girls who's parents never taught them any manners) looked over my head and shouted "who's next!" (I get I'm only 5'2 but seriously). When I said (somewhat assertively I admit) "Me, I'm next!", she rolled her eyes like it was me being rude, and when I gave her my name for the order, just shoved the bag at me without another glance. Not the first time I've had reason to be dissatisfied with the rude "service" there but was finally compelled to speak. read more

These are simply the best bagels in Sussex county! The crumb cake is insanely good too. If you're in the area, do yourself a favor and get yourself some bagels here. read more

Would like to give more than 3 stars but how does a toasted bagel with butter get messed up??? By not toasting it!

Bagels are great, listening skills of people taking an order... awful!! So why bother asking how someone wants their food if you're not going to prepare it right? A simple request of a toasted bagel w scallion cream cheese.. somehow an oat bagel w plain cc not toasted is sufficient to them I guess. Make sure to check you take out order before you leave, chances are it will be wrong. read more

Came in today to get something to eat. The girls behind the counter were very fast and helpful. They toasted the bagels to perfection and had the right amount of butter and cream cheese. The pasty's are very tasty soft. From now on this is the place to go very friendly and very helpful. read more

When working at Newton Hospital we would order from Bagel Bistro on a near daily basis- We NEVER had any complaints. The bagels are always fresh and of such great variety. Sandwich bread has also always been fresh. they make great paninis! just overall there isn't one thing I can complain about. read more

I have been to bagel bistro many times and they have great service and great variety. Good coffee, many different kinds of bagels (even a whole wheat everything! Probably a good 15 different kinds...), lots of sandwiches -- and all at good prices. Very convenient! Never a problem! read more

Went here on 10/5/13. My bagel was good, sesame with Cream Cheese. The only problem was that they only take cash and the ATM wasn't working. The cashier was apologetic and we wrote a check, because they accept those. Be prepared for that. read more

Called ahead of time to determine closing. Although the hot food ends a 1/2 hour before closing I was assured that I could get a cold sandwich up until closing. The front door states that they are open until 2:30PM, however I was told that is when the go home. ( I was there a few minutes before 2:30). So I got nothing for my visit. It seems from prior comments that the owner appears not to care about customer service. read more

The FRESHEST most AMAZING bagels I've ever had in my entire 30 years of life!!! My friend brought bagels over to my house one day from here and ever since then I've been ADDICTED. I live over an hour away in Easton, PA - every single time my friend is coming over or we're meeting up, I ask her to pick me up some bagels from here. I've never once stepped foot in here and have probably eaten 7 dozen bagels so far from here!!! Hopefully one day I'll get the chance to come on in and give everyone there a hug. One time I didn't see my friend for over a week and I almost drove the hour to get the bagel but with a 2 year old that was nearly impossible. So I went to the grocery store & picked up some from their bakery... the next day they were moldy. When my friend brings me bagels from the bagel bistro, they are FRESH for over a week almost 2 weeks! Usually I eat them all before then anyways but they keep fresh for so long!!! I'm obsessed with these bagels! Well worth the 3 lbs I've gained! Much love!!! read more

Good bagels, but if i am going to be in the area i prefer bagel station. I've done blind taste tests with friends to determine which are the best bagels in the county and these were 3/5. These are slightly smaller and the quality of meat isn't as good as the station. Drive another 10 minutes up newton sparta rd for another star. read more

bagels just hit different here. i'd drive out of my way so a good bagel sandwich from here. only downside is that they only take cash, but they have an atm in the corner of the store. read more

Let me say they get ONE star for their poor customer service! I drove by many bagel/deli locations on my way home from Mt. Olive, but I LOVE their Italian sandwich! I checked to make sure they were still open and my luck they were till 2:30! YAY! Wrong.. While open still everything was put up and when they asked what I wanted they said the slicer was already cleaned and wouldn't make it for me. Super disappointed as I love to support our local restaurants in Andover. The counter girl at least tried while the other girl who apparently cleaned the slicer said, no. If you want to close at 2, then do that. Or at least say limited menu. read more

Inconsistent to say the least. Horrible bagels just for starters, and the rolls are even worse. service is good but irrelevant. do yourself a favor and drive 5 mins to a legitimate bagel shop. Bagel Station. read more

Today will be the last time we get anything from this place. The employee who took the order (and messed it up) was extremely rude on the phone. When we picked up our food, the manager excused his employee's attitude and behavior on the fact that they were busy. If you're that busy, don't answer the phone. Don't worry about it...keep this up and you won't be busy. All you need is a few people talking about this and you'll be slow in no time. I'm only putting one star on this because you have to enter a rating to post your review. read more

The quality and taste of the bagels here is something you would expect to get somewhere in middle America, not in NJ. Extremely chewy and underwhelming bagels complimented by a bunch of young ladies behind the counter who are very rude and disinterested. read more

BLT everything bagel is delicious every time! And their apple crumb cake is my go-to before school. Absolutely love this place.

I wouldn't necessarily go out of my way to come here but that's about the only reason I'm not giving it 5-stars. The best thing about this place is the consistency. They always get your order right, the food is very consistently good, and although they do get pretty decent traffic in there you never have to wait for them to take your order. Definitely my favorite place for a quick bagel or taylor ham and cheese in the area! read more

When it run out of apple turnovers by 930 in the morning everyday, that's a sign you need to make more. I would rather have to many and throw one or two out rather than not have them for customers. When I mentioned that to the employee she gave me a nasty attitude, told me she wasn't the owner she just worked there. Well sorry with your nasty attitude I sure won't be going back here for anything. It's not the first time I have gotten a shitty attitude from the employees. Not one of the employees is personable. When I'm spending my money at a place it would be nice if the person helping you could at least have a small talk conversation and be happy that you are spending your money there. Horrible customer service so I left and went across the street to the new place Homers. The owner at homers is great and I surely will be coming back in here not bagel bistro. read more
