It was hard to bit through, we ended up cutting into bit size pieces. As an experiment, I removed the icing from a standard donut and found the bread to be similar to holla or challah, except dryer. The croissant ended up tasting like a loaf of white bread. The layers were thick and not that much butter flavor came through.
