I going to be completely honest this is not even close to the best french in the nation I have never made french toast but it would be better if I made it myself I wouldn't be that annoyed but they said its worlds best but It the worst I've ever had. Lady was nice but the sign is to get people to come in tbh the A horrible thing to do

First time here!

While driving up to NY this past weekend, I was looking for a nice place to stop for lunch with my wife and in-laws. Thanks to Yelp, I came across Old Stone. In this older town of Sussex, it was just what we were looking for. Old Stone is located in a little strip mall in the heart of town. There are only a few tables inside, but no problem seating on an early Saturday afternoon. The staff was very attentive and friendly. The food was excellent and very fresh. We chose the soup and sandwich combo. I had the signature roast beef sandwich and the turkey vegetable soup. We all loved our meals. Only suggestion I would make is to turn the heat up, was pretty chilly there. If you're in Sussex, give the Old Stone a try (just dress warm)!

French Toast and Taylor ham and eggs

One of the best local eatery experience I've had in the area. No frills locals place. Super friendly staff as well as the locals who frequent this place. High quality local ingredients, and great coffee. Must get the taylor ham or pork roll if you are not from the area its an unique NJ item unlike anything else.

I've lived down the block from this place since it opened. Actually I believe the owners live about 5 or 6 houses from my former lake house. I have no idea why it took me so long to come here and eat. My son and I came here after karate class to try "the best French toast in the nation" and have some breakfast. It's very well decorated inside and has a very homey feel to it. Pastries and meats are in the deli case, you can smell the fresh coffee brewing and the people there are friendly and warm. My son had the French toast and eggs which was a huge portion of food and very well prepared. I had an egg white and ham sandwich on a bagel that was also very well portioned and cooked perfectly. I also had a cup of freshly made coffee which was excellent on a cold and snowy day. Like most places, I try to look at all the positives and then try to find one of two things I would do differently or that the venue could do better and honestly, I couldn't find anything that could've been done better here. The French toast was incredible, the eggs were fluffy and well prepared and my sandwich was great. We cannot wait to go back and will be doing so soon. Great job Old Stone!!

This was my first visit to Old Stone. It was a Saturday at 10:00am. I took a seat at the counter. Influenced by the best french toast sign outside, I ordered that with sausage patty and tea. I enjoyed my meal while watching early Saturday morning programs on the two televisions and listening to local 102.3 WSUS-FM radio, playing hits from the 80's until now on iHeart radio. The food doesn't come with the unhealthy sugary powder on top which I took in account when determining the taste. I did more syrup then I usually do to add flavor. I'm still trying to figure out the "established in 1843" designation next to the "celebrating our first year" notation on the menu cover.

Great sit down breakfast or lunch. Small, but clean and welcoming. Friendly owners that take care of their clientele.

Delicious. Found it via Yelp and the 4.5 Stars. Had the garden omelet. All four of us liked it a lot.

Our vegetarian opted for the build your own burger. Veggie burger on a pretzel bun w/ pallet jack, chipotle mayo, fries, frizzled onions and avocado. He loved it! My daughter and I split an order of pierogies and the amazing bacon onion marmalade burger. They even cut it up for us from the kitchen and put it on separate plates (love the attention to detail and service) My mother daughter truly enjoyed her pineapple jalapeños burger and was in heaven. Not too much heat but just the right amount of kick. Hubby is trying to be more health conscious so he opted for the Brie & Apple turkey burger. He said it was very well seasoned and enjoyed it thoroughly. We all took a sip or two of the peanut butter shake and left happy! The service was great and we complimented the owner his beautiful flowers and decor.

Inside, we were met with a kind staff and a delicious lunch. The boomin bloomin onion was a favorite for our crew, with the typical blooming onion sauce you know and love from the steak chains. What differentiated it was the thin slicing of the onions, which made it easier to just keep dipping a little bit more. The only letdown of the meal, which was a relative letdown given how solid the burgers and onion were, was the fries. They didn't have flavor, even though I got mine with Cajun seasoning and my wife got hers with a beer cheese dip. They need to punch up the salt fresh out of the fryer to really let the other seasonings shine. We actually overheard another table say the same thing after we finished our fries, so I don't think it was just a fluke order. That said, if you're nitpicking over the sides at the burger and shake place, I'd say you're going to the wrong places! This was a tasty meal and a stop I'd easily go back to if I was nearby.

I love the convenience of the kiosk ordering. Service was very quick, and everyone on staff was so kind and helpful. I was blown away by their gluten-free menu. They offer gluten-free buns for burgers and sandwiches, gluten-free crispy chicken, and even gluten-free desserts. I tried the Turtle Pie and the Lemon Raspberry Pie--both were delicious, but the Turtle Pie was truly to die for. This was hands down one of the best burgers and fries I've ever had. Gluten-free bread can really make or break a meal, and this place does it right. The gluten-free bun tasted fresh and delicious, the burger itself was incredibly juicy and flavorful, and the basil aioli was insanely good. I also ordered their specialty Cherry Cream Cola, and it was so good that I had to get a second one. It tasted like a fresh, sweet Cherry Coke and was the perfect accompaniment to the meal. I sat outside and brought my dog, and one of the staff members even came out with a bowl of water for him. Such a thoughtful touch that made us feel so welcome. It being dog-friendly is definitely a huge bonus for me. Amazing food, wonderful service, and one of the best gluten-free experiences I've had. I can't wait to come back!
