a not-so-hidden gem! it's not every day you find authentic afro-latin food in sussex county. if you want to support a small minority-owned business, this is absolutely the spot for you. the place itself is cute and quaint, with big windows that let the sunshine pour in while you people-watch and enjoy your food. the staff was incredibly welcoming and friendly, and our server, chelsea, was an absolute angel. she stayed on top of everything and made sure we had everything we needed the entire time. we started with the loaded nachos with jerk chicken and OMG--the portion was huge, decadent, and absolutely delicious. we also got two iced coffees that were so good we had to get refills. the real stars of the show though? the catfish and grits and the catfish sandwich. TO. DIE. FOR. grits can be very hit or miss, but these extra cheesy grits were genuinely the best we've ever had (and we've had a LOT). and let me talk about the fried catfish for a second--it was perfectly battered and fried while still being super tender inside. i genuinely had to stop myself from audibly moaning at the table because it was that good. 10/10 for the service, food, and ambiance. you'd be silly not to give this place a try if you're in the area, especially since their menu has something for everyone. i already can't wait to come back and try more dishes. thank you again, chelsea--we absolutely loved you! read more

i went here on Weds for brunch with a friend because I've been meaning to try Jade's and i was not disappointed whatsoever!! I got chickens and pancakes with eggs benny and it was 10/10. Food did not take long at all to come out + everything was fresh. The chicken was juicy and cripsy, the pancakes were perf, and the egg was good too. The hollandaise sauce was good with everything. The service was 10/10, she was very sweet and attentive with checking in. I will be back again! Just wish they were open just a little bit later. My whole meal was 21$ including a Shirley temple. What a wonderful surprise for our New Years Day brunch. Incredible family owned restaurant with great and attentive service and amazing food. Tried the chicken and waffles, biscuits and gravy, Maduros, chicken sausage, and cheese grits and all were delicious. The fried foods really standout as homemade and perfectly prepared (crispy, juicy and pipping hot). A lot of things to like about Jade's, once I was finally through town while they're open. Ogdensburg isn't much of a downtown but they're anchored by this wonderful breakfast/lunch nook just off the main highway (a mile from 23, two from 15). The host was very kind - I got there first, was allowed to claim the open table (in front of the door) and as others cleared, I was encouraged to move to any table I wanted (so I picked window). Food is cooked fresh but you won't have a long wait. And my, my is it ever tasty. As others have said, the shrimp are completely de-shelled so you can just bite on in. I felt like I got a deceptively good portion for the price (it appears smaller than it is) and the "easy egg" cooked itself as I ate through. This cosy spot puts a nice, Southern, Afro twist on your mornings and early afternoons, so do exit the highway and visit Jade and her family (literally, yes, with that young daughter others mentioned manning the register). read more

Finally made it up to Ogdensburg to check out Jade's and it DID NOT DISAPPOINT! We started with their Fried Pickles and not that I would ever call Fried Pickles boring but Jades' was next level and above and beyond your average Fried Pickle- breaded with what I believe was corn flakes and fried to perfection, even their choice of a dense pickle slice was a grand slam!! Then I got the Incredible Hulk (perfectly fried chicken breast w/ fried green tomatoes, avocado, bacon slices and bacon jam with Bang sauce) and my girlfriend got the OG Chicken & Waffles. Both entrees were delicious and had their neat twists with the use cornmeal and seasonings. Finally, we split a side of Cheesy Grits which was as good as grits could ever be. I've been waiting to try Jade's after randomly finding it on Yelp and let me just say... after today's meal, I can't wait to come back! We ordered a BBQ chicken sandwich with waffle fries, fried green tomato BLT with zesty breakfast potatoes, and a side of biscuits and gravy. Food came out quick and hot, and it held together perfectly on the 20 minute drive back home. Chicken and potatoes were crispy, biscuit was delicious, and everything was seasoned perfectly (which can sometimes be hard to come by in Sussex County). Will definitely come back!! read more

Amazing food ! So many delicious comfort foods on the Afro-Latin inspired menu to choose from like chicken and waffles , empanadas ,chicken sandwiches , tacos and seafood dishes. I tried sausage gravy chicken waffles , egg Benedict chicken waffles , all the empanadas , and the sticky chicken sandwich. All the chicken was super tender and fried crispy and the toppings were all a perfect addition. The sausage gravy chicken waffles was absolutely awesome. Our waitress was so kind, attentive and sweet, the food was phenomenal (you must try the sweet plantains!), and the prices were very fair. The menu features amazing dishes like catfish and grits, biscuits & gravy, chicken & waffles, and so much more. I loved my pulled pork salad bowl while my friend enjoyed the Brunchfest smash burger.
