    Breakfast Sandwich
    Shawn A.

Finally! I have finally found a good to place near home. I am 3 for 3 here. Every visit...outstanding! I stopped by the day they opened and picked up their breakfast sandwich, loved it. Loved the cheeses melted on the roll, the amount and cook on the pork roll and the flavor of the entire sandwich. Second visit...vegetable fried rice, Crispy Chicken BLT Sandwich, Pulled Pork and the Brisket. The fried rice was great, my wife got the BLT (I fortunately got a part of it) which was also super. I am a huge BBQ fan and this met my standards. The Pulled Pork was flavorful and juicy. The Brisket was spot on! Great smoky flavor, nice bark and great seasoning. I asked for the fatty cut and loved it. The included sides were great as well. Visit three...Olluco Burger and the Cuban Sandwich. My wife got the burger. The bites I got (stole) were excellent. The bacon, the cheese, the red onion jam (COME ON!) and the flavor of the hand formed patty made for a great burger. The Cuban, oh that Cuban! Was the best Cuban I have had. The combo of the entire mix of items on this was spot on. The hand cut fries are out of this world. Don't miss this place!

Blown away by the authenticity of this establishment. The Cuban is pressed to perfection and the empanada was seasoned exactly how it should be. Please stop by and try them out if in the area.

By far the best Cuban sandwich i have ever tried. I went with my family and we also had a fantastic steak sandwich and pork belly sandwich. More importantly the owners are good people and were very kind to us. I would highly recommend their business and if you're in the area give them a try. Looking forward to going back to get their BBQ.

I would pass by this place at work, and finally got around to visiting it! So the interior could use some sprucing up, and it's not exactly a place to dine in (...yet!) but I was surprised to discover how amazing the food tasted! 1st thing I ordered off the menu was a slow smoked brisket (1/2 lb) on top of sofrito rice, w/ BBQ sauce on the side. I was blown away by how flavorful and tender it was! I didn't even need a knife! I am definitely coming back! Can't wait to try the ribs, pulled chicken pork, and Cuban sandwich!

We had trouble deciding on which pizzas to order (they all looked delicious) but finally decided on the Red Red Vine (fire roasted grape tomatoes, fresh mozzarella, basil, olive oil, & balsamic drizzle) and the Porta Bella (portabella, mushroom, spinach, roasted pepper, fresh mozzarella, & balsamic drizzle). Both were fantastic and perfectly cooked - the mushrooms were fresh (not canned, thank goodness). Also - I'm kind of a sucker for a good crust and this HAD IT ((chefs kiss)). Can't wait to come back!! As a side note -- there are two separate entrances... the front entrance is to the dining room and the back entrance is to the bar. I don't think you can access them both without going outside (but you'd have to confirm with the staff).

Blue Spice has been on my to-do list for literally years, and Monday was finally the day. I stopped…read moreby for lunch with my top-tier chum, a native of the Kingdom of Sussex who has been here before and has spoken highly of it. I don't know why I was surprised to discover this was in a strip mall, but that's on me. A nice one, at least. The place was relatively busy but we were able to secure a table easily with zero wait time. Pleasant vibes inside. I don't mean this as an insult at all but I was expecting more ethnic decor in line with the restaurant's menu - instead, it's pretty Americanized and feels like a classic suburban NJ establishment. I liked the painted brick on the lefthand side that has Blue Spice's logo/sign on it; spiffy. The bathroom was also a high point, which is...not something I say often. It was very clean and smelled nice, and I liked the dark cruise-ship lighting vibe. We decided to split the scallion pancake app, which was an excellent decision. I work in the city and regularly have this item from a place in Chinatown, and I honestly thought this was better, mostly because it was thicker/denser than what I'm used to. Super tasty and would get that again in a heartbeat. Giant portion as well - we split the pancake, which was roughly the size of a small pizza. My chum had leftovers there, I did not; so it goes with us. I've had a few mediocre chicken katsu experiences of late, so this seemed like a chance for redemption. I ordered the Akiko Curry entree, which was their spin on chicken katsu curry. Honestly wasn't my favorite. Again, a HUGE portion here and was only able to finish about 60% of it despite having a pretty legit appetite coming in. And the presentation value is excellent as well, as far as that goes. This could easily just be a personal palate preference, but I wasn't crazy about the curry itself (which had a weird tang to it) and didn't resemble the standard curry I'm used to with this dish. Also, as you can see from the attached, the curry is basically on the side of the dish, separated from the chicken and rice. Because of that, the chicken is on the dry side, which is my primary beef (pun?) with the item to begin with. So a miss for me, but I could see why other people would like this (and apparently do). The service was excellent, full stop. Our waitress was very nice and personable; she had strong command of the menu and you could see her consistently engaging with other patrons throughout our meal as well. She took several group photos so this is apparently a Kingdom of Sussex hot spot for that, which I wouldn't have guessed. She was so good both of us remarked on it multiple times during the meal, which is a rarity. But a great example of hospitality markedly improving an experience and making what was already an overall positive situation that much better. Huge marks there. Would definitely come back but would explore other parts of the menu once I feasted on the scallion pancake.

Inside the place has a western or settlers theme (mixed in with a bit of random clutter and lots of dog photos). There was also live music which was great. For appetizers we got the guac (very fresh - recommend), wings (also quite good with a little crisp to them), and the frontier onion (which was just okay, a little more done than I would have liked, with a bit of an odd signature sauce). For dinner I had the rodeo chicken and I highly recommend it. It was very tasty. As a side note, I had ordered Russian dressing for my salad and what came was not Russian so I'd avoid that if you're a fan. It was mostly ketchup. I will say that service felt a little slow (for instance getting the check) and if you've read any of my other reviews you may know I also have a pet peeve about being without a drink for too long and I felt it took too long to fill waters. Also our table was a little sticky and I'm not sure why and don't really want to think about it too much. All that being said, I'd go again. It wasn't a bad experience and the entrees were quite good.

So together we decided to try it for an early Friday night dinner. We ordered French Onion soup, a burger, potato skins, and chili with chips (I really was excited about that, since I used to LOVE it). First, there was no internet or tvs. Not a big deal for us but definitely noted (credit cards not working, etc). Next, there were not a lot of people here at 5 ish on a Friday. There was a guy set up to sing and play guitar-he was fine (a local guy who was talking with a worker about where they live, so def local). The server comes back, no French onion soup. So we ordered mozz sticks as a replacement. They came, a plate of 3, with a pretty crispy coating (so crispy they were tough to eat). I didn't like the sauce but my husband said it was ok. For the price, 3 mozzarella sticks seems silly. My husband said his burger was ok, not something to rave about like the old Homestead reputation leads you to believe. The potato skins were great in the middle, edges were burnt, but great in the middle. My chili was the most disappointing. The chips on the side were covered in jarred salsa, jalopenos, black olive pieces, and sour cream. I was under the impression those things would be ON the chili and the chips were there to dip and scoop the chili. However, the metal crock that the chili was in was hot for the entire time we were there, the issue being that every time you tried to get chili on a spoon/chip, the crock spun around in a circle on the plate. You couldn't grab the handle because it was seriously at a molten lava temperature. Needless to say, not what it used to be, overpriced, and just not a contender with other restaurants in the area. Go a bit further on route 94 and surrounding areas each way for something better, fresher, & maybe priced for the product quality.
