I bought Antonio's Porcini Mushroom ravioli from L&D Sapore Ravioli & Cheese in South Plainfield and it was DELISH! I looked at the Antonio's website to see where else I could find this since South Plainfield isn't around the corner. I was happy to see that Saviolis carried them, so I wouldn't have to go to Hudson, Union, or Middlesex County! I also got a roast beef sandwich and the #10 (Hot capicola, sopressata, provolone cheese & roasted red peppers), but with Hot cherry peppers instead. Both sandwiches were great! I live in Bergen County and weekend up in Sussex County at a local lake community over the summer and I called Savioli's last Tuesday for a tray of sandwiches for a dinner party this past Sunday. I spoke to the owner George, and he explained how he is not traditionally open on Sundays but will come in and make the tray of sandwiches. I explained to him how there 20 people will be there and suggested 10 sandwiches cut into thirds and I agreed that it sounded like a good idea. I asked George to give me the 3 most popular sandwiches and he suggested the Italian combo, the chicken cutlet and the eggplant and mozz all which sounded delicious. Well, I came in Sunday and everything was fresh and delicious. It was perfectly priced 155 dollars for 10 sandwiches. Thanks for opening on a Sunday and doing a bang-up job. Delicious sandwiches. Had the Classic Italian with the works and it was one of the better ones I've tasted. The bread makes or breaks these sandwiches and Savioli's buys quality bread. I did have three big issues I wanted to address here and their names are noted below... I went to this deli specifically because Eileen, Christina and Ashley trashed it in their Yelp! reviews. . What I found interesting is that their reviews weren't about the food at all. They all complained about the owner, the process or their debit card policy. Really? Is that worth the time it took you three to write your reviews? Based on the negative comments about the owner being a Trump and NRA supporter, it's obvious these three are typical angry Karens. Karens are always looking to berate anyone they feel isn't doing life on the terms they try to set. Every little things sets them off. Rather than just not return to an establishment, they feel they have to destroy it. That's all too prevalent in today's politically charged world. I'll tell you what, ladies...here's some great advice: stay home or go to Olive Garden. You don't deserve to take up spaces on the lines that wait eagerly for one of the best sandwiches in the area. First and foremost, subs are best in the area! I've had four sandwiches off the menu thus far and each are well balanced and the bread is top-notch. Secondly, price was right! Which is hard to pull off in this economic environment of everything getting more expensive. Thirdly, you can tell the ownership is a family business, which is always more inviting then your typical commercial run establishment. A very special shout out to the owner who takes the time to get to know customers and treats them like a personal friend. So only went once and while the sandwiches were ok the owner was such a jerk that I never went back. I asked for a sandwich platter for 4 people. He asked me to pick 4 sandwiches from the board and when I came back to pick up the order, it was 4 wrapped sandwiches and not made or cut into a platter. Stopped in this place for the first time yesterday. I wasn't sure what to expect since it wasn't the most inviting storefront I've ever seen, and in this area there's a lot of really bad delis (at least compared to when I lived in and around Belleville/Nutley). This place was incredible. I got The Sicilian (#11) and it was probably the best sandwich I've ever had. Fresh meats, perfect bread, and dressed with flavorful toppings. The sandwiches are great, like something you'd get on Arthur Ave. They are very slow in making the sandwiches so it's better to call ahead or you could end up waiting a 1/2 hour for your sandwich. The only tweak I would make is to offer finely shredded lettuce, a Jersey sub staple that's better at holding the oil & vinegar than the leaf lettuce they use. Had high hopes for this sub shop after reading the great reviews. I cannot attest to how these sandwiches tasted because they went straight In the garbage. There were 3 workers that were NOT wearing any gloves while preparing our food, handling each and every slice of deli meat, cheese, and veggies with bare hands... the one taking my credit card and ringing us up with no washing or sanitizing her hands before or after. With everything going on in the World, and how we are all trying to take proper health precautions... you should feel ashamed of yourself! Let me start by saying I'm not the biggest fan of deli sandwiches in general. However, I actually crave Savioli's sandwiches. They do it right with fresh tasting ingredients and the perfect bread to meat/cheese ratio. It's not over stuffed and not too sparse like subway. This was a pretty legit Italian sub. The meats were delicious and the sesame-seeded Italian bread was decent - not the best I've ever had but not bad, especially for the area. They were perhaps a bit heavy-handed with the vinegar, as the sharp vinegar taste somewhat overpowered the rest of the sandwich at times. Also, the lettuce was a single leaf, and not the usual shredded mass of lettuce that better absorbs the oil and vinegar. Still, a pretty decent sandwich, and probably one of the few places you can get a real Italian sub in the area. I guess I'll have to go back and try the ravioli. read more

A merchant's agreement with card processing networks prohibit them from setting a minimum purchase amount for debit card transactions. Some retailers may not realize that there's a difference between credit cards and debit cards, and some may just choose not to follow the rules. This place charges 4% extra if you use a debit card, no matter the amount you spend. No to mention the tax you pay. I will mot step foot in this place again until this stops.
