This is everything a small, casual family restaurant should be. Incredibly friendly and attentive staff that is eager to please and make you feel at home in their boisterous Italian kitchen and dining room. To start, we were brought a generous amount of warm, toasty bread that was like the love child of pizza dough and focaccia. There is a lot of variety on the menu, but I opted for seafood - fried calamari appetizer is a nice portion to share, with mild, fresh tasting marinara. And the Seafood Combo is a good mix of jumbo shrimp, mussels, calamari, and a few clams. It is not typically spicy, but I requested fra diavolo style and they gladly obliged. To be honest, the linguine was soft and overcooked for my liking, but the flavor was great, price was reasonable, and portion was big enough to have some leftovers the next day. The sauce combined with the seafood juices may have been even better the next day! Gnocchi w/ pesto was delicious, though a bit too much of the same thing - would be great shared for a family style meal. Most entrees are also served with soup or salad. Didn't try the soup, but salads were a nice option. And they brought us an unexpected order of zeppole to share, which was so kind and nice way to end the meal. With a little restaurant like this in your neighborhood, you may question why you would ever step foot in an Olive Garden, Bertucci's, or similar chain restaurant ever again. Note, there are a few quirks. Water offered in paper disposable cups, and don't expect an itemized receipt. While they do accept credit cards, they offer discounts for cash payment. read more

This place is usually great but there is a waitress who is terrible . She messes up orders, is not attentive, and then does nothing about. She wanted to seat us at a dirty table when we asked for a clean table she rolled her eyes and put paper placemats over the tablecloth that had sauce stains all over it! It was so gross. Came here for a slice of pizza. They have really thin slices which my husband loves. I got a ziti slice. Great flavor, mild not too strong in cheese flavor or tomato, everything balanced and good. Only thing was slices could have been warmed up more. There are a couple of tables if you get slices that you can eat at adjacent to the restaraunt seating. Staff were very friendly and nice. One of my favorite Italian places in the area. Food is very reasonably priced and huge portions. I had the veal parm dinner over penne. The veal was super crisp and tender with lots of flavor. There are a good amount of pizzerias in the area,but I might have to say their pizza is the best so far. The crust, cheese and sauce just blend so perfectly. The crust isn't too doughy and not too crispy. It's just right. The service was great, our server was very attentive without being overbearing and the young man who sat us was very courteous. The chicken parm sandwich was excellent. The bread was sliced in the middle and the chicken placed in a way as to not be messy. I love this place when I moved to New Jersey 3 years ago this became one of mine and my families favorites! The owners are so nice and go above and beyond to make the guest feel happy and at home ! The food is good and its my kids favorite pizza and pasta after trying many many pizza place throughout New Jersey and Manhattan. Perfect place! I've never had a better experience than I did with the waitress, Dynasty. She is an amazing conversationalist and provided amazing service. Food was a little pricey but it was honestly worth it, and it's worth nothing the cannolis are to die for! I had came here when I first moved to Lake Mohawk a little while back and she definitely was great to speak with to introduce me to the area. I just wish there was better public parking. Not impressed. $40 for literally no food. I honestly wanted to call and ask for my money back. Stromboli wasn't cooked through so it had literal raw dough in the middle. Chicken francese was $18 came with one and 1/4 thin slice of battered chicken in straight lemon juice with an absurdly small side of undercooked un salted pasta and cold red sauce. 2 stars for the eggplant rollatini I guess? We decided to take a break from house shopping in the area and stumbled upon this place....big mistake. If this restaurant is a reflection of the neighborhood we may not continue our home search here. We walked in and we were not greeted at all. The waitress finally acknowledged us and stuck us in the corner. We were willing to over look her snotty attitude until she served me and husband paper cups made for take out orders although everyone one else in the restaurant where drinking out of red hard plastic cups including peoplet who were seated after us. When I asked why we were being served out different cups she acted as if she didn't know what I was talking about and then asked if we wanted to change our cups. We both answered no because her message was loud and clear. We will never go back to this restaurant and are disheartened that we had this ugly experience on such a beautiful day. read more

Parking is bad for every business in White Deer plaza. Get over it. The last time we ate here was the day before Thanksgiving '17 and the pizza was one of the best I have had anywhere. The buttery crust, sauce, and cheese were simply heaven in a box. Also the eggplant topping is killer! However I agree with some other yelpers that their food is sometimes lackluster, if you ate here 10 times it will be delicious 5 times, blah 3 times, and fair twice. Its been that way for at least 15 years, too bad they cant put out a consistent product. But its so good sometimes I gotta give 4/5 anyway. read more

This is the first bad review I've ever posted. I tried to be understanding but I felt like this restaurant really failed my expectations in many ways. I couldn't help but notice that even the restaurant owner had to clean his own windows because the 3 waitresses were too busy texting on their phones or chatting when there were only 2 tables. When asked about an order that we had placed at the front counter, we were told that it was actually put for "to go" even though we were dining in. Our waitress brought it to my mom cold after the rest of us were pretty much finished eating. She said that if we ordered it there we have to pick it up there. That's not exactly customer service. She made sure to check on the other table with the younger men but had little interest in checking up on us. It's frustrating that she would even comment to her co-worker out loud on the tip she received for such terrible service. I would never expect anyone to tip me well for being rude, texting on my phone, and/or ignoring guest. You treat your customers as your guest because they have many other restaurants they can eat at but chose to eat at yours. My mom has owned three restaurants and she was blown away by how the service was. Hopefully this is a one time incident but I'm not going to try again to find out. There's a lot of other places other than here to eat at that treat a guest as they should. The pizza is good but you might want to stick with take out at this restaurant to save yourself the frustration. read more

The first 3 times we went there I would have given them 4 stars not 5 cause service was very slow in dining room,I guess cause it was lunch on a weekday.but food was so good.this past saturday we went for lunch waitress was very nice ,took orders quickly, no problem at all.however very disappointed with an appetizer that was listed as a portabella mushroom STUFFED with crabmeat with spinach and mozzarella cheese . It wasnt stuffed at all,there was imitation crabmeat that you buy in sticks for 2 dollars at the supermarket sliced over the top .the mozzarella was randomly cut so there were chunks of it on top.the main issue was the misleading stuffed with crabmeat lol.they sell in shoprite those imitations in a pk of 4 lol .1 was sliced in 3 pieces .very disappointed read more

Best pizza in Sparta and probably in the county. Love their garlic knots and breaded artichokes. There are a few tables right outside the door that are great on a nice day. Seating inside is a little tight, but close quarters + pizza = good times! And you get the smells for free. They do a "low carb" pizza - which, besides what seems like a gimmick, is really good cracker crust pizza if you are looking for something St. Louis style. We stopped in here because they have gluten free. The staff is great, especially the waitress who is very friendly, and went out of her way to get my daughter chocolate syrup for her chocolate milk as they were out. Since she went across the street to get the syrup, I thought it was a very nice gesture. The eating area is fairly small, so if plan on eating in, get here early. The dining room is nicely decorated and seating is comfortable. Each table has fresh flowers, which is a nice touch. I ordered the gluten free pizza, and my girlfriend ordered the sausage roll. My daughter had most of my pizza! The pizza was good, not the typical cardboard crust many of them have, but better. The sausage roll was good as well according to my girlfriend. A good friend and I stopped here for dinner last night. It was kind of late so they were gracious enough to take our order even though the kitchen was closing in 10 minutes. My friend and I are gluten free so we were going to order grilled chicken and salads. My friend wanted pasta so she asked if they had anything gluten free. And to my surprise, they not only did but they had a menu (be it short but still they had one)! We shared the Large Antipasto Italiano which was fresh and very good! We both had grilled chicken parm and the gluten free pasta. I loved my chicken parm but wasn't crazy about the pasta because the sauce/gravy was bland. My friend ordered pasta with vodka sauce but they made her grilled chicken parm with the vodka sauce too. She wasn't crazy about the chicken but loved the pasta with the vodka sauce. I tasted the grilled chicken parm with the vodka sauce and thought it was interesting (def an acquired taste). Staff was nice and accommodating. The owner came out to talk to us about the gluten free dishes. He also informed us that they have gluten free pizza which I'm def going to go back to try. The eat in part of the restaurant is decorated nicely. It is quaint and had nice dining music in the background. I love that there are lights in and outside the restaurant. Absolutely the best Italian food in Sparta! The pizza is delicious, and the veal is to die for. Met the owner, Mike and he was very accommodating. We had a short wait for our table and he gave us some delicious pizza cut into small pieces while we were waiting. Mussels marinara was awesome! Authentic Italian food and excellent service.
