Dinner here was amazing! We were very impressed. The food was excellent. We started off with French onion soup and crabcake appetizers. Yum! We had the Bucatini Ragu, a filet mignon, and a skirt, steak dinner. All of it was excellent. The meat was perfectly cooked, medium rare as asked. The drinks were fabulous, aperol spritz, Hugo, spritz's and chocolate martinis. He will definitely be back. read more

Ate here for both lunch and dinner during our stay. I would never come back. For lunch, the kitchen completely disregarded a nut allergy. We ordered a salad, made them aware of a nut allergy and despite that, the salad came out with nuts. We sent the salad back to be remade (waitress did not seem concerned) and it came back without the chicken we ordered. For dinner, 3 of us ordered steaks. Each steak was undercooked/cold. I would not recommend this place at all. read more

We had dinner at Crystal Tavern during our stay in the Grand Cascades Lodge at Crystal Springs. The food, drinks & dessert were great! As the name implies, there's a woodsy/tavern atmosphere - but the restaurant still has an elevated, stylish feel. The service was friendly & professional, and the view was amazing through the large windows. The fire alarm was triggered at some point - and it kept making a blaring noise for quite some time! To make up for the inconvenience, the manager threw in a round of drinks and a dessert for us. read more

The Crystal Tavern at Crystal Springs Resort made for a genuinely enjoyable dinner for me and my wife. As soon as we sat down, the staff brought over warm bread with a cheesy crust on top, simple but really good, and a nice way to settle in. I started with an Old Fashioned mocktail, which I have to admit just didn't work. After a couple of sips, I gave up on it. I stuck with the mocktail because I was taking medication for a cold, but honestly, I found myself wishing I had just ordered the real version. Once the French onion soup came out, things turned around quickly. It was exactly what I needed, rich, hot, and comforting in all the right ways. Our waiter checked in just enough without hovering, and the rest of the staff was just as attentive. It felt welcoming, whether people were staying at the resort or just coming in for dinner, which added to the relaxed atmosphere. For my main dish, I went with the burger cooked medium-rare, and it hit the mark. Juicy, full of flavor, and paired with crisp fries that were actually seasoned well. Between the quality of the food and the friendly service, the Crystal Tavern left a good impression. I'd definitely go back and try more of the menu next time. read more

Crystal Tavern is one of the signature restaurants within the Crystal Springs resort. It's one of the easiest way to dine on property as a resort guest, but also open to the general public. As a larger party, we were able to order quite a few things from the menu, and all of it landed somewhere in the range of decent to excellent. Those who ordered the chicken were underwhelmed, but the hanger steak was delicious. I love a good char on my steak, and I loved the smoky crust they achieved on mine. Some of the appetizers skewed toward the smaller side, but they were well prepared. Our whole table loved the shishito pepper appetizer, which was served tempura-style with a lovely orange sauce. God knows what was in it, but I was dragging pieces of pepper through it repeatedly. As a large party with lots of little ones, we were grateful we didn't have to wait long for food. Bread baskets are sumptuous and filled with the softest rolls I've had in a long time. Our other orders were delivered to the tables in quick procession, and I have to leave a big shoutout to our server Angela, who was kind, patient, and attentive as she tended to our big tables, replete with distracted diners and squirmy kiddos. During our family's stay at the resort, some of us were able to get walk-in seatings for lunch, but come dinner time, it seems the seating gets pretty limited so dinner reservations are highly recommended. read more

A great place at the Crystal Springs Grand Cascades lodge. Whether breakfast lunch or dinner the service and food are solid. Good cocktails too. It's got a rustic American fare vibe and panoramic window views of the rolling mountain hills and golf course on site. Highly recommend a sunset sitting time. Make sure to have the French toast - one of the fluffiest and tastiest I've ever had. read more

Great dinner last night at the Crystal Tavern. The fish was so fresh and paired really well with the clams. The oysters were delicious and most importantly really fresh. The spot is beautiful which makes my visit that much more memorable. The service is outstanding with the server checking in on you occasionally but also within eye sight so you only have to look her way to get her attention. This is my go to spot whenever I visit the Grand Cascades Lodge. I even ran into some former work colleagues while there. Always nice to run into career educators. read more

After being at the resort it was nice to grab a bite to eat. Service was great. Professional and attentive. Ordered a lemon drop that was made well. Oysters as an app were fresh. Sandwich was just okay. Fries were good. The inside is tavern decor with wood and neutral colors. Clean nice size. Food & drinks were reasonably priced. read more

We booked a stay at the resort for a quick get-a-away. We ordered lunch by the pool while we relaxed. My daughter's hot dog and fires was fine. We ordered a chicken sandwich that was not great. Upon biting into sandwich, the chicken was raw, the second half of the sandwich had a grayish/brownish tint to it that automatically turned my taste buds off. We contacted restaurant and they credited our room. I'm sure the sandwich was an anomaly, but we were still disappointed. We expected better. I must be fair and advise that they credited part of our dinner. Management ad derive made up for the sandwich. We did go back for dinner since it was where we had reservations. We had the lobster Mac and cheese, burger and halibut. The Mac and cheese was good, good crust, cheese and pieces of lobster. The para was a bit over cooked for my liking, but the flavor made up for that fact. My wife liked her burger and it was a decent size. Halibut was well cooked and flaky, it sat on a bed of fired sushi rice. I would like a bit more flavor, I felt the meal was a bit bland. But overall it made up for the inedible sandwich at lunch. We did breakfast the next day, highly recommend the French toast. It is a surprisingly big piece of bread, but it was so airy and light. Would have this again. My wife had a dish that had eggs over a tomato sauce and toast. Good flavor overall, would try again for breakfast. read more

I see why some people give this place low scores. But I think that's a bit too harsh. We went there two times during our stay. A breakfast and a dinner. The foods were delicious both times. Although the pork chop came out undercooked, the manager apologized and remade the dish immediately. The second time it came out perfectly. I wasn't bothered because it was a holiday weekend. As long as the people are nice, it doesn't ruin my vacation. The place is well maintained. It was a little crowded with a few kids running around. But again, it was the holiday. I didn't pick this place for a date during this time. Overall very nice establishment. Shoutout to the kitchen for maintaining the high quality of foods during hectic times. read more

Crystal Tavern is located on the property of Crystal Springs Resort in Hamburg, NJ. The grounds are beautiful and decorated with bright holiday lights. When you enter the foyer there is a grand chandelier and dark wood features. The dining room has large windows and a cozy ambience. The hostess and our waitress left much to be desired, "drip city" if you will ... with no attempts at a genuine smile or small talk. I have never had a waitress NOT say "thank you have a nice night" at the end of the meal but ours didn't. The woman who served us (will omit her name out of respect) dropped the check and left the table without a word... like hello? Our meal was delicious. The espresso martinis had a perfect ratio of espresso to liquor and a healthy inch or so worth of foam on top. We began the meal with a bread basket filled with Asiago cheese rolls. For our starter, we had whipped ricotta served with a single slice of ciabatta toast topped with roasted squash. There was maybe 4 tbsp worth of whipped ricotta on the plate... so if you're sharing get more than one. I ordered fried chicken as my main which was DIVINE. The waiter left a tray of dipping sauces and said one was honey that was siracha based... so would advise that the runners are more informed on menu offerings. My mom ordered a yummy squash pasta dish that was one of the most unique meals I've tasted. All in all, a stealthy 3/5 or 4/5 stars. However, not the most memorable dining experience. read more

We did not grease the maitre d's palm so unlike the foursome table beside us, we had to plate our own shared salad and main course. We were told that the kitchen would not do so. The food was ok but we asked that our papardelle be served el dente. It was quite the opposite. The dessert cocktail was not as described and it went untouched and was taken off the bill. The service was friendly but slow. The whole experience was C+ resort. We would not return. read more

I went there for the special prime rib, the dinner was 65% grizzle and fat. Totally unacceptable for fine dining at a hotel resort!!!

Awful. Do not go. Terrible service. Will never return. For the caliber of this resort, this restaurant is not up to par. We cannot comment on the food because after 35 minutes, we received not a morsel of food. Unwelcoming and poor customer service. read more

Talk about an over priced restaurant that doesn't have good food! Based on the price of everything I think we all expected a better experience The bread for the table has cheese and there is no vegan bread option with no dairy. My friends said their food was just okay not amazing and definitely not with the price $$$. For the price the roasted turnip which is listed as an entree is much more like a side. It doesn't have any grain or starch and while the flavor was okay it is not a meal!! I was dissatisfied and super hungry after eating the turnip. For a really nice hotel the vegan options are limited or non-existent. For breakfast there are no vegan options when I talked to them your only option is fruit and breakfast potatoes. We were here celebrating my friend and the server knew that but completely forgot her drink order. We had to remind her that the bride-to-be didn't get her drink order! Also for lunch some of our party ordered 3 items to-go so they could bring it back to the room. They messed up 1 of the orders so she went back to try and get it fixed and they gave her the item she had ordered and another which she didn't and she was charged incorrectly. They spent over an hour going back and forth to correct things and be charged only for what they ordered. read more

Easily one of the best meals of 2022 right here! Crystal tavern will always have a special place for me, as I had my engagement here and the food is always top notch. This dinner was amazing not only due to the dishes, but great service as always. Went with the pork chop that came with a peach sauce & corn bread that was to die for. Cooked perfectly medium and just ugh amazing. Watermelon salad with fresh mozzarella and Jersey tomatoes was ridiculously good! Perfectly balanced. Pork belly bites was my favorite of it all, as the Asian salad with sesame oil and just great flavors along with crunchiness was the perfect complement to the rich pork. Go go go! read more

Here for a wedding (3 days) and found this place as a nice place to sit, have a few drinks and at the same time, enjoy some light faire. Not particularly inexpensive but the food was good. Silverware and glasses were spotless. Quick and accurate service from our server Sarah. Let's talk about food! Everything was delicious from our apps to entree. Shaved salad had fresh and crisp veggies with a dressing so good makes you want to slap yo mamma. Jerk wings were crispy but still juicy with a delicious jerk sauce. When the manager Ken Hogan introduced him self at our table checking on our evening, definitely reassured me that I was dining at a great place that makes you want to comeback. read more

I'm surprised by the amount of negative reviews here after dining here twice (dinner and breakfast) over the course of two days while staying at the Crystal Springs resort. Folks, let get this out of the way: your expectations have to be tempered a bit by the fact that this restaurant is on site at a resort. It's a matter of convenience because you don't have to get in your car to go out while your body is still numb from your 90 minute deep tissue massage...there is something to be said about that. The décor could definitely use a refresher, but it's not enough to downgrade the place and it has a bit of charm. The food was more that acceptable (especially considering they share a kitchen with the wedding hall next door) and the service was excellent. Drinks were actually quite good and you appreciate the fact that they were prepared by a seasoned female bartender, who I assume is either named Pat or Gerri...again folks...charm. I leave you with the PRO Tip. If you are staying at the resort order the Charcuterie board for dinner. Eat what you desire off the meat/cheese/pickle mountain and have them wrap us the remains to take to your room. The next day you take the snacks out to your balcony with a bottle of wine and you have a slammin' little lunch to hold you over until dinner. read more

I love reviewing good food when I get it. My friends and I made reservations in advance so upon arrival, we were seated by the window with this breathtaking scenic view. Our waitress was very friendly and greeted us. You can use your cell phone to scan the bar code for the menu, but they also have printed menus too if you or your party want it. We ordered all meatless side dishes to share because my girlfriend gave up meat for lent. We have roasted brussel sprouts, roasted cauliflower, pita with hummus dip and salad. Everything came out fine and delicious. I'm only knocking one star because the dining prices were high as other yelpers here have noticed too. read more

We had fantastic service and the food was overall pretty good. With that said, there were a lot of flies in the restaurant (one ended up in my husband's wine during the meal) and I found a giant hair in my cavatelli. We're staying here at the lodge for the weekend, I reserved a table about a week ago for my wife's birthday. We arrived a minute before our reservation then waited about 10 min to be seated in a half empty restaurant. The hostess tried to seat us next to the bar full of patrons and I asked for one of the 4 empty tables near the windows. She said no and sat us in between 2 large round tables filled with kids. So it was either loud bar table or loud kids corner. Wife had the gnocchi, was warm not hot and she ate maybe half. I got the Iberico pork and they served it covered in a soup destroying the whole reason to order in my mind is a beautiful cut of pork. It should be seasoned and grilled and that's it! My sons fried chicken was spot on! Order that and you'll be fine. Avoid the gnocchi and pork and tell the hostess you don't care about who's zone needs a table first, you like to have a decent table since they're all empty and we're still half empty when you left!!!! To say I was aggravated I'd an undersell. read more

We were staying at the resort for Christmas and booked the Tavern for our Christmas dinner! Our server was great and attentive. However the menu was limited with a special 3 course meal for $145! We ordered 2 tavern burgers and a steak. We asked for cooked medium. Firstly the steak with the mashed potatoes came cold and have to send it back to heat up. Both Burgers were rare with very old and dry chips! Understand it was 8pm but fresh chips is not difficult to make! After my steak arrived for the second time - it was totally rare with blood running out of it. We ended up not eating the meal at all and packed it up so we can cook it later at home. Our friends ordered the burger as well, eating it rare and he got sick in the morning! I would not eat here again! read more

Food is average at best, and they were clearly understaffed because my 2 eggs, bacon and toast took nearly 40 minutes to come out. We had brunch at Crystal Tavern during a stay at the Grand Cascades Lodge. We both got cocktails that were pretty good. My Bloody Mary didn't come with celery which isn't the end of the world, but is a bit atypical. The meal portions were generous and the prices were not exorbitant. Especially compared to our dinner at Restaurant Lator the night before. My only complaint with breakfast/brunch is the coffee. We had an excellent pot of coffee, but it was $16 for enough for each of us to have one large cup. The steamed milk was a nice touch. I just wish they offered a more reasonably priced coffee option. After brunch we went to the lobby to get some coffee there but the complementary lobby coffee was completely expended and it was only 10am on a Monday. read more

I gave this place 2 stars only because they were open, on a Monday-in a town that is usually a food desert. The food is just not good. Under-seasoned and over priced is how I'd describe it. LOL know they are located in a hotel-but 37$ for a rubbery "bavette" cut steak with regular old French fries is ridiculous. You can call it "steak frites" all you want-it still is small, bland and overpriced. The prime rib sandwich is akin to one you might have in a hospital cafeteria. This place used to be good. When they did brunch -or cared . Very sad how far they've fallen. read more

Nice restraunt over all. You need reservations most likely. The hostess were not the nicest however. I had reservations and they could not find it in their system. They asked for my confirmation message and I showed them. They commented that it was not in a format they recognized. I showed them the email confirmation also. They did not seem to care and were thinking about what they should do. I was in a good mood so decided not to nuke them with hostility. I just advised that, "You caught me! I hacked into your computer system to send a reservation confirmation to myself so I could eat here." They didn't seem amused, but sat us anyway. The server was nice. She did tell me not to get the specialty liquid chocolate dessert drink because it was just Swiss Miss hot chocolate in a small cup. That was funny I thought. I am going back again tonight for our last night here and I will update this post with more food pics and other thing I may notice. For my second meal at this restaurant, I got a burger and fries for dinner and it was good. Not great, just good. The fries were fantastic, as were the tater tots I ordered. Overall, our second meal at this restaurant was pretty good. The service was pretty good, very attentive waitress. Finally, the ambiance of this restaurant is very nice. The views are spectacular. The backdrop are mountains and golf course, with a chance for a very nice sunset if you get there at the right time. The chairs are very comfortable and the space between the table allow for intimate conversations to be had without being over heard. The bar area does overlap into the main dining area, it is really one big room. A loud bar will effect a diners experience. This happened during the first meal I had there this weekend. A wedding was taking place and one of the attendees at that wedding was very loud and was using foul language and no one from the bar or restaurant did anything about it. It did not ruin the experience, but it had me thinking as to what the bar employees would do if there was a fight or a "really" unruly patron? There is literally no security on this site that I saw all weekend. read more
