Light on the breading and heavy on the flavor. I love creme brulee and theirs didn't disappoint. Great group of employees too. I think a lot of other people might like this place, It Just was not my personal cup of tea. Service was smiling and nice, and The ambience looks like one of those small trendy restaurants you would find in Brooklyn, but the crowd was very rough. In fact, the other patrons made it feel like a biker bar in there. ( we ride motorcycles, so take no issue with that, but it was a weird environment for dinner.) F bombs every few seconds was are irritating, but I know that it wasn't the business owners fault. The chef seemed to think that water is a flavor, as the gemelli vegetable pasta dish I had was sitting in a pool of water , and was the most bland dish I've ever had at a restaurant . The hangar steak salad has meat that was cooked perfectly to order, but it also lacked flavor. For someone with preferences for plain food, this is a good choice. The Crystal Inn has been a Warwick staple for years! I have been coming here since I was five years old, and you always know you are going to see a familiar friendly face when you walk into the bar. My favorite thing to order is the Calamari with their signature tossed Mediterranean dressing, it's AMAZING! Also- in colder months, their onion soup made from pine islands fresh onions!! They also serve delicious pizza dough to start, and the service is always on point, and brings a smile. House Cabernet wine is delicious. Chicken Marsala is tasty, but a little too much pepper for my taste. Strip steak was good but I ordered medium, and it seemed rare to me, not too amazing but the sides that came with it were delish (Mash potatoes and carrots). I posted a review last night after leaving an event at this venue and somehow it has disappeared so I will try again. Normally I wouldn't care but to me, respect is far more important that food. The event began very nicely and Rachel the bartendress was lovely. It quickly plummeted downhill when the owner/host (Ryan, I now know) made it clear that the entire menu consisted of nothing other than meat. This shows an unequivocal lack of concern, respect and empathy for those of us who do not eat red meat. Rather than do what any reputable establishment would do, i.e. offer to have the chef prepare something with no meat, I was simply shunned as "too bad, this is what your host has chosen." For that reason alone, amidst the glowing reviews of last night (one from the host, another from his staff member who collected donations at the door), it is critical for people to know this place does not care about people as evidenced by a blatant refusal to accommodate a patron's specific culinary preference. Overall, the food was decent. The strip steak, rare, was delicious, though the sides were a bit salty. The service was friendly enough, but slower than a snail on 'ludes. One waitress and one bartender might serve during the week, but on a Saturday night during the Harvest season they could really bump up their game. Neighborhood gem,, even if you don't live in Amity its worth a drive. Nice & quiet, dark & cozy dining room. Excellent lighting and sound level. It's almost like eating at a friend's house who is an excellent cook. Ingredient driven entrees. Never had a bad meal here in over 25 years,,, that speaks volumes. One of my favorite places to eat since moving to the beautiful "black dirt region" of the Hudson valley! The crystal Inn offers locally sourced meats and vegetables along with yummy gin from the winery! I feel that it's important to support the local farmers and the Crystal Inn does just that! They use grass-fed beef from my favorite local place (Lowland Farms) and create the most delicious & simple dishes that showcase the natural flavors of the ingredients. Things have changed. Have been several times. Food has gone down hill. Ordered calamari special prep. Very greasy. Three olives and what looked to be small French fries. Guessing some rings broke? Not good at all. Cauliflower soup good. Burger ordered medium rare came well done. When we spoke to waitress who was nice she did offer to replace it but why wait for another meal. Husband had pork chop. He enjoyed that and cheesecake. Also surprised that a bar doesn't have draft beers. Overall disappointing. Will not rush back. As as previous bar/restaurant owner for many years, I have my favorite spots that fire on all cylinders. Crystal Inn is always a comfortable spot with a great bar and larger, separate dining area as well. I've recently moved to the area but used to travel an hour to visit the places I love around Warwick and this is at the top of the list. It's all about comfort, friendly staff that treats you like family, fun crowd of friendly folks, a great cocktail and delicious food. I'm looking forward to tonight being my 4th Wednesday in a row for the prime rib special. I've had the best beef in the finest places and this is one of them, for sure! Crystal Inn uses locally sourced ingredients and the beef is top-notch! A delicious Manhattan to start, the insanely delicious prime rib with potatoes au gratin, dessert and a little espresso and I'm in Heaven. They do a great takeout biz, too. I pick up a spinach & bacon pizza once a week... (I'm a Jersey guy and this pizza is fantastic! It's not like I'm from Ohio and don't know good pizza from a brick sprinkled with saw-dust. I was very happy about the pizza thing moving up to the "country"!) My other go-to is the chicken Francaise w/gemelli. They do a killer steak au poivre, too!
