Build in 1766, this tavern is a lovely step back into history. I've been twice now and I love it more each time. Up front you have the full bar, the back room is a beautiful lounge with a portrait of George Washington starting back at you. There is plenty of space out on the porch or out back when the weather is warm. Great for a date or a large group. Such a fun hidden gem! I totally joined the "George Washington Beer Club". It was $100 cash and the cup takes 4-6 months to come in. You can engrave the cup with tour name and a quote. Looking forward to seeing where the metal cup will be placed. It was cool to watch people coming in and grabbing their cups to have a drink. The place has lots of history. Great American History stop for sure! There is no food FYI. Due to covid, we had to buy hummus when ordering a drink. There is also an outdoor sitting area that is nice. read more

I had the chance to come here for a pre-dinner cocktail. Apparently this joint is owned by the Warwick Historical Society, and you can absolutely tell that this place is filled with history as soon as you walk inside. It really feels like you're having a drink in George Washington's house or something. The ambiance is just...OLD. Historic. There's lots of seating in a room adjacent to the bar, and also outside. The bartender that was working Saturday night (blonde, long hair) was SUPER sweet/nice. I hope you got your bangs back, little lady! Would absolutely return for a drink. read more

Love this place! It was recommended by our host at our B&B, Terry from Ashford Cottage. He told us the history behind the place...apparently George Washington stayed here, and something about him visiting Martha....anyway, it was everything he said it was and more! The atmosphere is just awesome, and so was our bartender! He made excellent drinks and we got to sit at the round corner spot right by the window, where you could see the town and all the people walking by. It's a popular spot to sit, and we saw people waiting for it so if you get there an it's empty, get it right away! It's such a cozy place to hang out and people watch, both inside and outside the bar. The people inside the bar were just so friendly and you really do feel like you are back in time. Definitely a place to visit...and definitely going back next time we're in town. read more

Such a cool place to go. We were going out to dinner in Warwick and decided to stop in here first. So impressed with the atmosphere and the way the place is set up. Pewter mugs adorn bookcases against the walls which you can buy and engrave for when you visit you have your own tankard to sip out of. The bartender Eric was very polite and professional and carried on good conversation. No TV, no jukebox or anything like that in this circa 1766 building, another couple next to us spent some time chatting and it was a great experience. $22 for two ciders and 2 drafts was more than what I'm used to but I still loved everything about the place. 4.5 stars read more

The interior is so nice, I'm no historian but it looks authentic colonial and the bartender was super friendly and helpful with his suggestions. I had a fantastic cider and my friend had two special made drinks which he thoroughly enjoyed. I don't drink and I don't think this place sells food, but it was still an awesome place to stop at. Even if you don't want to grab a drink it's still a cool place to visit just for the history. I'm not a 100% sure of the story, but I think Martha Washington stayed here for a few days while she waited for George to come meet up with her. Aside from that significance, its just a cool quaint place to hangout at. I kind of wish they served fries or something, but I totally get why they don't and respect that. Munching on something just gives me an excuse to stay longer and take in the history and enjoy the vibe. read more

This is now one of my favorite new places. WOW! This place is a hidden gem. No food or drink menu just a very nice a cozy old tavern in a remarkably old historic building. Jenn and Holly are the best bartenders in Warwick. My family has been coming to Warwick for years from Scotland, we have never had such a good experience. Popped in here with a few friends and had a couple drinks before dinner here, such a welcoming establishment! There's many restaurant/bars down the main strip in Warwick, but Baird's is different in that it ONLY serves drinks. They have the historic tavern building all remodeled and back to its original glory... as a tavern (imagine that, haha). I've only been by once, but some of my friends have gone a few times and have their own mugs on the wall (also awesome!), and they say it rarely gets too crowded to move like some other bars in town might - another big plus. You can also walk all around the whole first floor where there's various nooks and crannies to sit down and enjoy your libations, and even drink outside when the weather is nice. Definitely a unique offering in Warwick, and a great way to generate revenue for the historical society! read more

Unfortunately the bartender was horrible. My family and I come here often because the building and the decor are beautiful but after tonight I will not frequent this location. Not only were we waiting for awhile while the place wasn't busy at all but after I let a gentlemen go in front of me to order because he had also been waiting (she was aware since I told her I'll order after him) she came back said no I'm going to help this group now instead and completely ignored us. Awesome place! It's a historically accurate renovation of a historic tavern that housed George Washington and several other notable revolutionaries. There are lots of cool seating areas and the beer selection is great! Also notable are the helpful staff who let us sample beers and wines to help us make our decision. I recommend going and giving it a look, but I have witnessed two very polar opposite Baird's. My wife and I stoped in with friends during the week. We were all excited to see patrons at the bar, otherwise, would have driven right by. Being from the area, it was nice to walk in and be welcomed by a new and different bartender. Eric covered the menu of beverages, made recommendations and discussed some history concerning the beautiful establishment. The four of us had a great evening and even discussed returning to purchase mugs so we would have a new tradition. Now, fast forward three days to a Saturday evening. Could not believe the 180 from our first night there. With the same party from earlier that week, it seemed the bartender status changes for the weekend. Not only were we ignored, reason for leaving after our first round, but we were welcomed by rudeness and condescending bar keeps. They certainly were not tenders to the customer. After enjoying the drink I had days prior, I was told I was incorrect and no way I had what I was given prior. Needless to say, I give it three stars seeing its been 50/50 thus far. I hope to report back and improve the rating, but I feel I will need to stick with Eric and his evenings until the weekend crew improves or take classes concerning serving knowledge and friendlier interaction skills. read more

Interesting place. Loved the historical setting and ambience and all the different kinds of seating areas. You must become a member to get a pewter mug. They have no drink menu yet and at the bar they basically said they could do anything. I had a rose cider on tap and hubby had Pinot noir.
