We came on a Friday evening, tired and hungry, so waiting for food wasn't something we wanted. But wait we did. However, when we eventually got our food, we were pleasantly surprised by the quality of the burger patty, and the grilled cheese accompaniment to the tomato bisque (especially since they said there was no more of the chili I ordered). The staff came over several times to check in which was appreciated. The food and service saved the experience for us! Prices were also reasonable. They have outdoor seating as well, which is where most people chose. If they were a more well-run establishment they could take this to the next level. Parking is around the corner of the Characters restaurant and seems to be plentiful.

Everything about this space feels thoughtfully designed and curated. It's such a fun little gem right here in Pine Bush. The owners are incredibly welcoming, as are the bar staff, and there's a warmth to the place that makes you want to come back. We've really enjoyed the pop-up food vendors they've brought in, and when there isn't a vendor on site, the bites they offer are a great addition. And the cocktails! I honestly haven't had one I didn't like. They're creative, beautifully made, and showcase the spirits so well. I'm also loving the eclectic mix of live music they're bringing into the venue. It gives each visit a little different personality and makes The Baldwin feel like more than just a place to grab a drink. It's becoming a true local experience. Such a great addition to Pine Bush. I was excited to try their vegan Mac and cheese balls and their black bean burger and despite advertising beef tallow fries, they have a designated vegan fryer. Now... where it all went downhill. Those Mac and cheese balls tasted horrible. They had almost no initial taste and the aftertaste was like soap and the texture was complete mush. And no, there was no cilantro that registered like soap. This straight up tasted like a mushy soap bomb. We waited a really long time for our food. Our waitress disappeared without saying anything and another person asked us if we wanted our check when we still hadn't gotten our main entrees. After a while, we got our food. My black bean burger was just ok. But they didn't prepare it like I requested. I ordered the blackened blue burger with a black bean patty. I believe it was $14 and was supposed to come blackened with Cajun seasoning and a vegan blue cheese and I skipped the bacon. I was asked if I wanted to vegan bun and said sure. When the bill came, my $14 burger was $21.50. I was charged for a custom burger and every single thing was an upgrade on top of it. Nothing about that burger was worth $21.50. It was barely worth $14. I was so upset that none of this was communicated to me. I've had worse food, which is why it's 2 starts instead of 1. But if I'm ever in this area again, I'll never come back.
