Here is what I have learned about this building: Built in 1883, it is the second-oldest continuously operating business in the county. Hainesville holds the second-coldest temperature in New Jersey and Sussex County, at -32° F. Like you'll find in small Vermont towns, this is a local place that has a little bit of everything on the shelves and behind the counters. It is truly a general store in the big box era. Like you'll find in small Vermont towns, everyone in this building is wonderful to talk to, including everyone behind the counter (young and old) and anyone who walks in. This is clearly locals serving locals, and it survives on this community spirit. It also survives on the delicious food they serve. I ordered up a custom melt and my companion had one of their menu lunch items. We agreed that the deli is generous with ingredients, the food was delicious, and fresh-cooked. One of the best hidden gems NJ has to offer. Don't miss Hainesville next time you're up this way for any reason. High Point. Mahwah. Catskills. May it all be served by this lovely store for 150 more years to come.

A year or so ago they shut down the main store and their Deli only is open with limited hours. But still the muffins and bakery items were good. Now we got their blueberry muffins again today, and I don't know if they stopped making their own and outsourced. But their muffins are like every other pasty store bought gross muffin out there. Very disappointing. No reason to keep returning now.

New Yorkers love their delis, and if just half of them are like this one, I can see why. JJ Delicatessen has an excellent assortment of meats, cheeses and dried goods, many from European countries like Germany and Poland. My girlfriend and I ordered sandwiches on a Saturday morning. We had to wait a little over twenty minutes, and the woman advised that next time we call our orders in ahead of time because the hot sandwiches take awhile. So that's your tip for the day. But they were worth waiting for. Fairly priced, excellent quality, and came with a few sides. I got the Polish sandwich special and my girlfriend got the Mediterranean sandwich special. There is a small seating area in the deli, but we took them with us and ate them in the car. It was a great lunch that we ate right before an afternoon of hiking at High Point State Park in NJ. Highly recommend this deli!

I really wish I could rate this place higher than this, but all that comes to mind when I think of…read morethis place is 'salty.' It seems like this is something of an institution and even for first-timers like us, it's not hard to see why. It's a European-leaning local deli that is clean, well stocked with interesting goodies, and that's is a cozy dining room in the front end of the shop. The two ladies we interacted with were fairly friendly and helpful, and after an agonising few minutes looking at the menu, we decided on the Polish and Italian sandwiches (vs heroes, which are bigger, cost a bit more, and are served on a roll). What I liked was the fresh tasting pickle that comes with the sandwich. In fact, the pickle may have been my favourite thing, period. The macaroni salad and potato salad were enjoyable if not particularly memorable. Now, the sandwiches. They look great, delicious even. We could tell they were made with care. From the first bite though, so I could think was, why's this SO salty? To this day, we're not sure what the culprit(s) were. Without the saltiness, I think they could have been delicious sandwiches. Perhaps this is how the locals like it. Maybe this is some sort of traditional way to prepare these sandwiches. All I know is that it traumatised my taste buds so much that I didn't have an appetite for another meal for the rest of the day. And of course I was quite thirsty for a few hours afterwards. I hope they keep improving and stay open for many more years.

Olluco offers homemade bbq, and some extras that will make you happy. The prices are decent too. For me, traveling with the kids is always tough because eventually you need to find real protein.....they can't survive on pizza and hot dogs for very long. We came here and got the chicken and Peruvian fried rice. The rice had great flavor and lots of veggies(peppers, zucchini, etc...). The chicken was seasoned PERFECTLY and so tender, like even the breast was juicy! We also got ribs and they were fall off the bone!! Yes finally, ribs that are seasons with a delicious rub(no need for sauce) and also fall off the bone tender. Yummo!! The place is very shack-esc lol...there's no decor and maybe 2 tables and a bar too. You can dine in but really it's more of a takeout joint, and that's OK! You can also grab drinks from the cold case. No fountain unfortunately. This is my new stop, I HOPE they stay in business so please give them a try my local Sussex friends!

Walked past The Farmer's Daughter (the 'Sister' Shop to CC), and entered the store. The door had the classic bell, and I was greeted almost immediately. Through the seating area, I got to the counter. Though I had seen multiple menus online, there were some staples on it, and some that rotate in and out depending on the season or availability. Ordered the "Prime Suspect," sliced prime rib, melted cheddar, caramelized onion jam, arugula, pickles, and horseradish aioli on a toasted roll. Also ordered the Lobster Bisque, something told me they were gonna do it right. Soup was piping hot, creamy, chunky, and had piles of lobster. Wow. The sandwich was an absolute unit, and flavorful to boot. Momma ain't raise no quitter so you know I took it down, but it had me in the first half, not gonna lie. Staff said they've been open for a year and change, and I was just sad it took me this long to find it and give it a rip. Great atmosphere, unique items, creative items, and a great experience. Spun the wheel and got a discount (you'll know if you go). Wow. Check it out! #MajorLeagueGrubbin #NomNomNom #TimeforaNAP

My favorites so far (which is every one I have tried) are Chili Crisp Turkey, Das Han's (Ham)Met, Falafeeling This, Blooming Onion Roast Beef and the special (which rotates regularly) - this one is the Brazilian Fried Chicken. Triple B. I had heard, with my ears and through the grapiest of vines, many good things about Benny…read moreand his Brown Bag. Compliments. Praises. Moans. You name it, all positive. And so when I hear so many hearings of such detail, and read so many readings with such info... it becomes a Yelp Elite's journey... no, destiny... no, civil duty to check in on said rumors. For often, rumors are spread by fools and accepted by idiots. But on a rarity? On a rarity... facts can be misleading while rumors, true or false, are often revealing. I shall carry on, unencumbered and cucumbered. I don't know much about Benny. I saw and felt the brown bag, but didn't get too familiar with it either. And why's that? That's because upon entrance to my vehicle (once a lease now owned, whatever) I smelt what was inside the bag. I kindly asked the bag to cover up the smell, of which it couldn't do. Therefore, I viciously removed the brown bag in one swift swipe. Maybe a rip. Potentially a tear... in order to lay eyes on the prize inside. Situated within a blue checkered wrapping, my nails continued to claw until my bleeding eyes and howler of a nose got what they requested. Sight on the sitch. The Foxchocker, chicken sandwich. I'm a substance guy. I need that chicken on my sandwiches. Famous fried chicken? Don't mind if I dadadadadoooooo. Bacon. Meunster mash cheese, jalapeños, a saucity sauce on a long ciabatta? Listen. I'm an easy guy. Super loose. I don't need much convincing. You say those words to me and my mouth begins to water immediately. You can take me home with that kinda talk. Don't test me. I'm street smart, not book smart... let me cook. So again, just read those ingredients... i knew that if that chicken was marinated right and if that sauce was saucing that we could be in for a mouth concert. A concert of the mouth. The tongue in cheek and teeth in esophagus. The good stuff. And let me tell you. This was GOOD STUFF. Great stuff. Phenom stuff. The chicken was seasoned and marinated to perfection. It was juicy. It was substantial. The sauce was diabolical by nature but caring in the way it caressed my taste buds. The long ciabatta was soft and played wonderfully in sync with the crisp of the crispiest of bacons. The jalapeño provided a necessary kick that was amplified by the monster meunster cheese. Each bite was a new magical moment. I was eating and driving. No mitts on the circular controlling device, Jesus took the wheel and safely got me home. Mamma Mia was this thing good. Batter my shorts and call me tortellini, I was impressed! Nearly put in shock while off-the-clock (Happy MLK Day.) The outside appearance of the de facto deli puts ya to sleep. The courteous and kind staff wakes you up. And this Fox Catcher Sandy makes you feel like you're at a rave. Head banging and tongue tangling, what a time to be alive. Now were the rumors just that, rumors? I say not. I say the Hot Goss out of LB's mouth was that you GOTTTA go here. That delightful of a dive. I'd make the detour once over. I'd travel 30 mins for the Fox Choker. I'm sick of hunting down and choking foxes myself, messy business. I'll leave it to the pros. Brown Bag, maybe one day you'll make it home raveled in your original presence rather than devoured immediately. LB, skillfully peeking in Peekskill - I bid Benny ado (for now.)
