    Chili crisp turkey sandwich
    Jason W.

Delicious sandwiches at a counter service spot in Peekskill. Sandwiches are creative takes of classic deli sandwiches. The bread was super fresh and the fillings were of good quality. We had the chili crisp turkey which may have been the best turkey sandwich I've had in a while. Very cute spot as well, they sell lots of snacks and similar foods out front, but there isn't a ton of seating. Highly recommend Benny's Brown Bag, wish we had something like this in the city.

Benny's Brown Bag is a treasure for Westchester cuisine. Great Vibes, People and Food. Another nice feeling was that the phones felt like they came second to the people inside the store. As for the food today Chimi Chimi Ya Roast Beef was incredible and always a must order! I wish I could say more but I ate it too fast to think about the flavor experience. Falafeeling This. Flavors are all there and delicious, textures weren't for me. Falafel was mushy (I'd prefer crunchy), bread felt soggy, lastly I felt overwhelmed by sauced lettuce (though I do love sauce) Chicken Curry Toyotathon. My first bites were wow and mmmm. Every element of This Sandwhich (from crunch to size to flavor to ingredient ratio) were in harmony. This is another must order everytime Even with 2 out of 3 of the sandwhcihes hitting for me. The hits were big enough to make up for the miss. If you live within striking distance, I can't recommend Benny's Brown Bag enough.

Perfect balance of rich condiments, savory toppings, and varied textures. The meats were incredibly thick and well made. I loved the ratio of everything within these sandwiches and would certainly recommend lunch from here!

What a find! Fantastic sandwiches and friendly service. I got the Chili Crisp Turkey and can't wait to go back to try everything else on the menu. Wish they had seating but hey, then I'd never leave.

Not typical sandwich place with an awesome theme to it, got love the 90s theme, brings me back to my childhood really. Got das has hammer sandwich and got say it was most unique sandwich ever had, I mean the usual ham and cheese with a twist, curry cream cheese to which I was sort of mixed on, it the flavor did downplay the other fillings, chips in sandwiches never hurt for a extra crunch and plenty of lettuce and tomatoes to refresh. Plus sandwich is pretty filling and easily makes two meals. The guy at counter was super cool and since I was outside town he did wonder where I was traveling from, let's say pretty far, but definitely worth the visit to try if you want different kind of deli sandwich

Good food, great place. Benny's brown bag sandwiches were big enough for two meals, which makes them affordable. I really liked them. I didn't love them. No place to sit but friendly ready to go quick and good sandwiches good thing for your buck.

I am not much of a sandwich person, but when I was reading about Benny's Brown Bag on a Westchester foodie forum recently, where one fellow waxed poetically about their Turkey and cheese, I paused. My husband's favorite sandwich is turkey and cheese. Benny's makes an amazingly delicious 'out of this world' one named 'Chili Crisp Turkey'. We happened to be up in the Peekskill area near Bear Mountain and decided to stop by to pick up lunch. Well, the smile on my husband's face said it all! After a bite he exclaimed - "Sweetie, Wow! This is the best turkey sandwich I have ever tasted" !! Yep, it's that good. :p **Kudos to owners Vince and Bettina plus their wonderful friendly staff** **Take-Out Only** * Vegetarian sandwiches available * Have a great Labor Day holiday weekend and if you happen to drive up the Hudson Valley, please grab a sammie at Benny's! You can thank me later :)

I tried Benny's for the first time this week and O..M..G! It was absolutely delicious. I was grateful for the big portion as I was able to enjoy it twice! I will be going back and trying everything on their menu. I love me a good sandwich.

Took the ride from the other side up to see what this spot was all about. I wish I lived closer.... The vibe is super chill. The entire operation appears to be run with a real love for what they do. They had some unique snacks and drinks available to buy in addition to what they make onsite. We got 2 sandwiches and a side of Mac Salad. Bear Mountain Hot Roast Beef Sandwich for $15.00 and the Das Hans (Ham)mer Sandiwch for $14.50. Both were very good. The Bear Mountain had a really nice horseradish kick. And the Hammer was a really yummy ham sandwich. Both were Wedge/Hero sized and definitely could feed 2 especially along with the side of Mac Salad. The ONLY thing I don't love is there's no place to sit and eat. So we couldn't take advantage of getting one of their tempting beers. There was a small standing counter area but it was taken so we ate in the car, which is fine.... But less than ideal. I will definitely be back and will absolutely recommend Bennys.

The chili crisp turkey. It doesn't look like much but it's an explosion of flavor.

You know you found something good when you think about it the best day. That's my feeling about the chili crisp turkey sandwich. Ah- maz-ing. Get it. You won't be disappointed with fresh tender turkey between crispy on the outside lightly toasted bread and seasoned with that chili crisp mayo , pickled onions and arugula. It's a complimenting combo of sweet and savory with just the right of heat from the chili crisp. If you don't know what chili crisp is : it's not meat chili that some may think. It's a Szechuan condiment made with ground peppers , oil and Szechuan peppercorns and other spices. My nephew had the bacon grilled cheese and he devoured it. We also had the mac salad. It tastes like homemade style and you should try it. For 3.50 you get enough for 2 sides easily. The place has no seating but it's a fun place to just look around at the plethora of chips, beers and soft drinks while your food is being made. The folks there are super cool. There's a school park across the street with picnic benches.

The ambiance here is if Urban Outfitters took over That 70's Show, kicked Kitty & Red out of their own house, painted everything white and started selling sandwiches instead of sweaters. Anyway, I'm in a committed relationship with their "Turkey Chili Crisp", but have definitely had a few flings with their flavor of the week like I'm Michael Kelso himself, I also suggest the "Chimi Chimi Ya Roast Beef". The variety of drink options here should be worshipped, their snack selection is an eclectic hot mess and they always really make an effort to cater to the customer. They're open 11-5pm except Sundays (till 4) & Tuesdays (and until recently Mondays too) like it's a child's lemonade stand, although once you get over that I promise you this place will be home to one of your favorite sandwiches in Westchester. To the team at Benny's; when are you guys bringing back "Junior: The Funeral Crasher"?? I've been dreaming about that gloriousness since April already; let's make it happen.

The place was clean and tidy, I appreciated the historical photos of Peekskill around the dining area. The menu is not overly ambitious, but plenty of choices; the food was very good, portions not skimpy and definitely not over priced. I hope they do well; I would recommend and will definitely be going back.

They were cooked through and through. But it was still doughy; which tells me that how they mix their batter is the problem. I also got the Peekskill Diner Omelette. It was decent. 4 out of 5. About as good as any omelette from any surrounding diner. Unfortunately, the home fries were pretty mid. I wouldn't say they were undercooked because the potatoes were soft, but they were definitely not roasted long enough. I'm guessing they were boiled before roasted; which is fine, but they just need to roast them a lot longer because boiled potatoes absorb a ton of moisture and need the extra time roasting. Service was fine. Waiter was always on time. Water and coffee refills were on time. I would say 4.5/5 on service. Nothing wrong there. The manager was attentive, and looked like he was dedicated to making this Diner work. He's the only reason I'm giving this place a 4/5 and not a 3/5. I'm sure he'll be reading this review, and I'm sure he will work to make the food better. The actual restaurant itself is small. It feels a little cramped. Not as bad as the worst I've seen, but it does feel tight. I won't deduct any points for this because they're working with what they got. If they make the food better, they can go even tighter, and I won't complain. All in all, I think these guys are stretching themselves too thin. They wanna do the standard NY style Diner, but I think they'd be better off finding a niche. It's a small space. It doesn't need a menu that big. We need less variety and more quality in this area. All our diners in the area are mid. All of them. Westchester, 202, Mohegan, etc.... we don't need another mid diner. These guys will not last if they're gonna give us the same mediocre food we can get from bigger diners with more comfortable seating. At least the rest of them got better pancakes. If you're the manager and you're reading this, trust me when I say this. You may be busy now, but that will end. Start planning for a change. I recommend going down to City Limits Diner in White Plains to see what they're doing; if you really wanna stick to the NY style Diner vibes. Otherwise, find a niche. Find the thing that your head chef is passionate about, and let them make the best fking food in a 20 mile radius.
