Second time coming to the cure. It's my favorite spot to come to before heading back to nyc from the Martz bus station. Today I ordered a tea with the specialty pancakes. The tea pot, while I was warned, was INCREDIBLY hot! Had to be very cautious pouring. Then the pancakes itself were good but the toppings were eh. There was one single pecan (I'm not exaggerating) and the peaches weren't in season yet, which I suspected. Will be back but likely with different flavors. read more

Service was impeccable, several servers stopped to make sure that we were always being taken care of. It was crowded at noon, but we had called ahead so that worked in our favor. Parking in the area is always an extra adventure, but I assure you this place is worth the circling of the blocks. It's very clean, brightly colored and has great local photography hanging on the walls. I had the cappuccino & the build your own frittata and they were absolutely perfect. My friends had the crab Benedict and requested her eggs cooked hard and they were very accommodating. Both our husbands picked the Monte Cristo, one with potatoes and the other with chips. They were both very pleased. We noticed several people order a carafe of OJ and they brought their own champagne for mimosas. Food: it used to be a lot better. I'm not sure what changed, the chefs or the ingredients. Something though. There's really not much different between here and a diner. When you go to a cafe you expect a little more attention is being paid to the offerings. I could have had the same tasting meal at any diner in the area. I would have liked to see more of a coffee menu. For a cafe I'd expect some more options than latte, mocha, espresso, macchiato and americano. There's nothing different or special about those. I had the corned beef hash. It really had no flavor of corned beef at all. Someone else in my party had it too and said the same thing. It was just ok. Service: it was fine. No complaints or anything to write home about. Everyone was friendly and inviting when we walked in right at opening. It's been several years since we've been here and it definitely has changed in terms of food quality unfortunately. read more

Fantastic breakfast/brunch spot. Low key vibe and super friendly service. Went with Kom and was pleased to see that a lot of customers seemed to be regulars known by name. I have MS so finding gluten free options to keep down inflammation is challenging. So easy here! I had the pancake wrap made with a gluten free pancake. It was wrapped around a 2 egg omelet with bacon and Mexican cheese (at our servers suggestion! Thanks Ellen!) and it was outstanding. We placed a very large order for a bachelorette on a Saturday morning and they got every order right! I personally had the salmon toast which was delicious and great quality. I also had the matcha latte which was really nicely done. It was sweetened which I didn't know but I actually liked it because it was lightly done. I rarely like sweetener in my matcha. Cute little place with a nice menu of standards and some creative fare. I had high hopes for the the crab Benedict and it was sadly unremarkable. Very strong fishy smell upon arrival and then no flavor in anything - not even the potatoes, cooked well done so they're crispy. There was supposed to be bay seasoning but I didn't taste any. It was all just so bland. Adding a little salt and pepper helped. In the end, hot sauce made it more palatable. Coffee was good but served at 700 degrees so I wasn't able to enjoy it with my meal. read more

This was such a lovely experience. Everyone who works there was kind and helpful. They do get super busy and everyone chips in. I had florentine eggs which was so delicious. My son enjoyed his eggs benedict. The coffee was really good. I had a difficult time deciding what to get. I ended up bringing home the Thanksgiving Frittata and my sister ate it, saying it was the "best thing I've had in a while" (even after an hour + car ride and a little reheating). I tasted it and it was truly delicious. We'll be back...even to do a road trip just for breakfast! I'm so glad we didn't head home without trying it as we almost did. read more

Heading out to The Crossings in PA today, I checked Yelp for a breakfast recommendation nearby. Yelp came through again as the positive reviews for The Cure Cafe led me here. The cafe is located right off Rt 80 on Main St in Stroudsburg. This is a very cool cafe in a town that I've never been to. Main Street definitely had the feel of old time USA! Our food was delicious! My wife and I both ordered the frittata special, which had cheddar, apple, pineapple, and pulled pork in it. It was a different kind of dish, which I liked a lot. With a side of fruit and sourdough bread, it was an excellent breakfast! The only critique I have is that while the chai tea latte was very good, it was lukewarm at best. Our server was very friendly. Prices definitely reasonable. There are meter parking spaces next to the restaurant and the bonus is if you park here, there's a cool mural on the wall to check out. Is this the best breakfast in the Poconos?! It very well might be with all things considered! Variety, cost, flavor, presentation, staff, location...The Cure hits on all facets. We started with a mocha hot cocoa bomb which was delicious. These are sourced from another local business (called KatieKakesBakes) and it was fantastic. They also had white chocolate and milk chocolate options but our server said the mocha was her favorite so we went with that. Mixing hot milk with this mocha bomb and releasing small chunks of chocolate and marshmallows was fun, and it was a nice hot drink for a cold day in the Poconos. Let's start with the Pork Huevos Rancheros. This dish looked very nice visually and it had A LOT going on, but in a good way. The pork flavor was excellent and smoky, the eggs burst as you cut through them, the avocado added nice flavor and creaminess, the tortillas add that little bit of hearty corn to the dish, and it's all rounded out with a bit of sour cream on top. I didn't think that I was going to enjoy the sour cream with the eggs but it was actually a nice touch. I'd order this again without question. Now for the Monte Cristo. This is one of my favorite sandwiches and when it's one properly is a real winner in my book. The Cure delivered with this sandwich. It was served on a thinner bread than I'm used to so I was a bit skeptical of that but I ended up really liking that it was less heavy than some I've had in the past. Without the syrup you get all of that smoked gruyere and high quality meats and then once you dip it that gets toned down just slightly to add the sweetness and depth of flavor from adding the syrup. And last but not least the Veggie Hash. I sat down expecting to not enjoy this dish and it ended up being my favorite of all three. Its nutty from the walnut meat alternative, but the mouthfeel and texture was very similar to having meat. There was some spinach, sautéed onion, and then also potatoes and sweet potatoes...it was just a really solid dish and a nice option for vegetarians or anyone just looking to take their meat intake down a bit. No brainer if there ever was one, The Cure Cafe on Main Street in Stroudsburg, PA - Didn't Suck! Charming brunch cafe in a tiny town. If it were any smaller, it would be a counter stools only place. If it were any bigger, it would be a restaurant. Indoors is tight. A few tables are setup on the sidewalk and a few around the building. We were a table of four on Sunday late morning during Summer. They were very busy and answering the telephone was second to in-person customers so don't expect to call for a reservation or wait time. Wait when we checked-in was quoted 20 minutes but they rang our cell phone in what felt like half the time as we strolled around town. For drinks, the iced coffees and lattes all looked ok but too watered down for my taste. I did get a single espresso which had a nice crema and earthy taste. Its BYOB and the menu offers a carafe of bloody Mary mix so I asked for a glass of bloody Mary. Patient waitress says no problem and tells me there's no vodka. Ok. Someone else brings out the glass of bloody Mary, and she tells me there's no vodka. Ok. Either lots of people must bring their vodka or I looked like I needed a drink. It was tasty with some of that Cholula sauce and black pepper on the table. Menu has a little of everything. Vegan to hearty meats. They didn't have all the ingredients listed on the menu (well smoked trout was out). Build-your-own egg white frittata was delish as were the ingredients added - feta, olives, onion, tomato and fresh herbs (the fresh herbs made the dish and aren't listed in the options but I noticed it from another frittata item, they should put those fresh herbs on everything). Avocado toast and poached eggs were good too. Food comes out like it's from a home kitchen, even to the plates. They had parties of two to whole families of six, mixed crowd.
