Primo Hoagies makes a solid cheesesteak, especially on their signature seeded bread. I always get mine with Cooper cheese, fried onions, mayo, ketchup, and hot peppers, and when it's made right, it's absolutely delicious, gooey, flavorful, and satisfying. But the consistency is hit or miss. Sometimes it's packed with well-seasoned meat, and other times, it feels like they forgot the seasoning and skimped on the steak. For the price, I expect more consistency in quality. Still, when they get it right, it's one of the best around. 4/5 stars. read more

I ordered the large Italian sandwich platter from Primo Hoagies for my New Year's Day party. The sandwiches were neatly cut and stacked. We had the roast beef and cheese, turkey and cheese. The stand out sandwich, for me, was Nonna's veggie sandwich! It was so delicious with the breaded eggplant, sharp provolone, broccoli rabe and the winning layer of roasted pepper on top! Along with the sandwiches, I was given some small squeeze bottles of oil and vinegar, and a bowl of various peppers and onions for my guests to flavor their sandwiches to their liking. Honestly...I was so, so excited for this opening. Sadly, I was deeply disappointed. I mean, there were probably two people in the store....and 5-6 people working when I ordered. Simple order, one hoagie...very straightforward. Turkey, Parma, Sharp Prov, LTO, Oren and RWV. That's it. I waited 10 minutes. Was handed a very light, wrapped and very small paper wrapped sandwich. I thought..."this feels small and light". But also, it wasn't even wrapped in a carry bag. Not great. But not knowing how this place works (portions, quality, etc.), I was still holding out hope. I was hungry and excited when I opened the wrap, as me and my boys settled at a fishing spot to nosh. One thin sliver of Prosciutto, No LTO, No RWV. Stale Bread. VERY Small Portion. Just meat and cheese....no toppings. Not care. AT ALL. I was beyond disappointed and insulted as a customer that a NEW, highly anticipated place.....in a space previously occupied by a very well respected and well loved deli and BBQ spot.....was this terrible. Lacking in care, detail or even executing a minimal topping order...how abysmal. I am someone who enjoys to give kudos and super love to deserving and well run businesses, this was too bad to overlook a very bad mention. I do hope that this is a learning curve and encourage real quality and high standards. If not, this place will not last. $10.65 for an absolute, disappointing mess. I was pleasantly surprised by the varieties of subs and wraps that primohoagies has! We've ordered several times since they opened, and each time has been delicious. The Crusher & the Buffalo Chicken Cutler are our favorites! I'm giving them 4 stars because of the prices. I know we're in inflation times, but it costs ~$30 for 2 primo sized hoagies, when other places in the area are cheaper. I really do hope this location has success! read more

Have to say that I was craving a chicken cutlet sandwich. Very disappointed because the bread and chicken were soggy and it was such a small sandwich for near 12 dollars. Also no where was it noted that the small sandwich comes on plain bread not the nice sesame bread. read more

I went to Primo Subs one day, and I got an Italian sub. I thought I was gonna have to get a loan to buy it or pay in three monthly installments. INSANELY EXPENSIVE subs! A small sub which is maybe 5 to 6 inches costs like 11 bucks with tax. The Primo size is about a foot long and costs about 16 bucks with tax, and it's just about enough food for a petite lady to eat. The Whole size can feed an average guy for a whopping 30 bucks! Holy hell! Primo Subs are greedy price gougers. The bread is so hard you cut your gums biting into one. Baguette bread cannot be used for sandwiches. The bread was also burnt. HEY PRIMO SUBS!! Put more meat on your sandwiches like they do in Italy for a fraction of the cost. The meat should be piled on at least to an inch thickness. I'm a Jersey Italian, and those are the rules! ONE INCH OF MEAT! Don't skimp! Especially when we're paying for your children's Ivy League education. I remember being the only one in the place, 8 people were working, and it took 30 minutes to get that emaciated sub finished. The bag was so light with the Primo size. It's like they peeled off the cold cut slices out of some guy's wallet like single dollar bills. WTF? Sorry, but I won't be coming back. I can go to many other sub places, and get a monster sub for ten bucks. LISTEN TO THIS REVIEW or your business won't make it. I know you won't listen, so I'm guessing in another 6 months there will be another for sale sign where Piggy's BBQ died. Business owners have too much pride and attitude nowadays, because the customer no longer matters to them, only money. That is not a relationship. It's self serving thievery that backfires. It absolutely amazes me that most business owners simply do not understand, if you lower your damn prices, people will come. It's as elementary as that, but these deluded business owners think they will be partying on a yacht in 2 years with super models in thongs sunbathing by the pool on the friggin yacht. Went on opening day and was not disappointed. I had the Primo Audiablo, a spicy roast beef, turkey and cheese. It was EXCELLENT! Loaded with meat, perfectly spiced, and encased in the only kind of bread that a sub (hoagie) should ever have. Their bread is very similar to a traditional Italian/French baguette, fresh, crunchy, and absolutely delicious. The staff was outgoing and friendly, and the first 100 customers received a free 9-inch hoagie, choosing from anything that is on the menu. I was even given a $15.00 gift card, which I found to be exceptionally generous. With maybe an exception here and there, I'll be sampling the entire menu over time. The Hackettstown area needed a quality sandwich shop, and this is it. I'll be a regular. read more

Over priced and poor service. This was my first and last visit to this establishment. Not only did I pay way more than I should have for a turkey and pepperoni sandwich, but they got the order wrong. I went in and dealt with Vanessa. She helped me pick a bunch of subs for a platter for an office birthday party. I also got the sampler platter on the side. Not only was Vanessa knowledgeable and helpful, every single thing was done to perfection. The food quality was amazing. The variety was fabulous. The bread is so much better than any other sub shop for miles. The meat and veggie subs were full and not all bread as many other places do. I will ONLY be ordering and/or having lunch (when I want a sub) at Primo's. Totally satisfied and happy with my experience!!! read more

It opened today, Tuesday, June 21, 2022. I went there for a Philly cheesesteak. You would think during their grand opening it would have to be good. It wasn't. The beef was TASTELESS. On the take-out menu, it states, "Highest quality extra lean loin tail..." This was not high quality beef. The roll was also of a poor quality and no better than white bread. The cashier asked me if I wanted fried onions and sweet peppers, and I said yes. The onions were cut into little square pieces, were disgusting, slimy, appeared to be waterlogged; and there were far too many of them. If there were any sweet peppers, I didn't see them nor taste them. When given a choice of cheese, I asked for provolone but it was orange; and provolone cheese isn't orange where I come from. The whole thing was a really tasteless mess, except for the weak taste of all those little onion pieces. Gross. Not going back. Even the napkins smelled stale like they had been kept in a warehouse for a very long time. If Primo Hoagies can't give you a good Philly cheesesteak during their grand opening, I'd hate to taste one next week. No, I will not go back to this place for anything. read more
