I had a bit of difficulty making my appointment through the website, but the store was easy to reach by phone and picked up right away both times that I called. Dr. Butler was very pleasant and explained everything very thoroughly after my eye exam. The real stand-out for me, however, was my optician, Tatiana. By far the most passionate person that has helped me select glasses before, and I could tell she really cared about giving me the best options under my search criteria. Never pushed me to try and purchase a frame that was more expensive, and I left choosing a pair of frames that felt amazing. read more

Great eye exam. Great service. Great selection of frames, some of which are impossible to find elsewhere.

Tried to charge me $290 per contact lens for a product the vendor sells for $100. Ridiculous mark up. Found elsewhere in NYC for $135/lens. When I called the practice on this mark-up, they didn't deny it. Disgusting. Buyer beware... read more

I still hadn't been seen 30 minutes after my appointment time so I left because like everybody else in the world, my time doesn't deserve to be wasted. They will threaten you at several points in the process with a $50 fee for missing an appointment. What do we think the chances are they give me $50 because they missed their end? I do give them credit, the manager called me back to apologize and coax me back. But Studio Optix has already shown who it is, so if I went back there was no prove I wouldn't sit there again for some unknown period of time. Studio Optix isn't fair to its customers, doesn't honor its own practices and needs to review some internal methods so customer don't feel they are treated like crap. read more

I've been going to Studio Optix since 2007. They've done every set of frames in my adult life -- probably at this point, 8-10 pairs of glasses. Why do I keep coming back to them? Frankly, you really won't find a better selection of unique frames anywhere else in the city, maybe the country. They curate the most unique, fun and distinctive looks, and their sales people know their inventory. If you want a cheap set of everyday frames, this is not your store. If you want something that complements your face, something people will talk about, or sing praises about, this is where you go. Expect to pay handsomely for that curation, however. Fortunately the store accepts most insurance plans, so you can use your vision benefits. They also are great about contact lenses. read more

Best Optical professionals in NYC!l Had the privilege to be examined by Dr.Cassel. The consultant was quick but very thorough. He exampled my results in detail which being a novice to prescription eyewear, I appreciate d the education. He then had Tatiana, the most amazing Optician EVER, help me pick the perfect frames. It was like having a personal stylist! Their selection of frames is top quality! She definitely understood my style and color palette for my skin tone. I ended up buying 2 pairs! Oh and I can't forget to mention Erika! I appreciate you too! Great experience. read more

About 2 months ago, the arm of one of my glasses broke off. When I visited the optical Vision Works in Miami they told me I had to get a whole new pair and I might as well get another eye test. I left disappointed and decided to wait. I was on vacation in Marco island and had forgotten my good glasses and the broken pair were still in my car. So I decided to stop in at Studio Optix. The owner was there and from the moment I showed him my broken glasses, he said "of course, I can fix it- let's find a pair and I'll take the glass and place it in the new frame." He had so many beautiful options and he was so patient and helpful. The whole experience was a pleasure. I finally found a pair where the glasses fit in perfectly and he plopped them in with incredible expertise. This is a A place where customer service is alive and well. Thank you!!! Looking forward to coming back!! read more

Traveling to NY and forgot my contact lenses. The lady at the front desk, didn't catch her name, was extremely helpful. Thankfully I had my prescription and they were able to help me. Within minutes I got my contacts. Exceptional service. read more

We chose Studio Optix because they carry most in stock styles with a particular Lindberg frame we are interested in, and the whole experience definitely delivers one of the best glasses shopping experiences in the city. We worked with Adam to choose two unique pairs of glasses with my friend. Though we both have very particular taste and function needs for glasses, and Adam just nailed it. He's not only very knowledgeable about glasses and brands in general, but understands how different glasses aesthetically help to elevate different faces. In addition, price for the lens is very reasonable. Highly recommended. read more

Way overdue review, especially since I've been coming here for over 15 years now. All doctors, Dr Mitch, Dr. Sarah (I've had both) and Dr Butler (who I haven't seen yet but my partner recently did and she was very happy with her experience) are truly top of the game. I've met them not just for contact lenses/glasses but also for therapautic reasons (such as red eye, dry eye, etc) and they never missed a mark. They were one of the first ones to have access to Lumify years before they finally went retail. This should tell you how serious they are about eye care in general, not just for glasses. Anything, everything to do with my eyes, I won't go elsewhere. I don't care if they don't take my insurance. Worth paying out of pocket for if you are able to afford it. As someone who used to work for an eye doctor as my college job, I will say this. When it comes to your eyes, you should be willing to seek the best even if it meams you'd have to go out of the network. There are only 2 optometrists I'd feel comfortable sending people in Manhattan. This is one of them. read more

I've been to Studio Optix twice for annual eye check-ups (with a snuck-in consultation for laser eye surgery). Starting with the pros: This place fits my image of a boutique Manhattan shop. They're on top of their tech, they will text and email you reminders, etc. I felt pretty safe covid-wise. I was given hand sanitizer every step of the way, they check temperatures, everyone's wearing a mask, and the door is kept open. They have top-notch (to the best of my knowledge) eye exam equipment. There's a corner of different high-tech machines to take pictures of the back of my eye, the optical nerve, EVERYTHING. And Dr. Butler was very patient and friendly explaining what everything was, what he was looking for, etc. Overall, had a great experience with the optometrist. I felt he was very sincere in his diagnosis, explained what was happening with my vision, etc. Genuinely enjoyed my appointment! Alright, I hate to do this but there WERE cons: While one of the ladies at the front was very friendly and helpful as was the optometrist, I didn't get that feel at all with the employee manning most of the eye exam machines and especially not from the person I was left with to finish up my appointment (pay my bill, buy any glasses/contacts, etc.) Honestly, I took off a star for Sandy alone. I was told Sandy would help me take care of my claim form (my insurance has an outdated claim form). She wouldn't deal with my form at all, just said the receipt had all the information, just put them together. Alright then. Edit: Back to update my review the next day as I was trying to file my insurance claim. I NEED the optometrist's signature on the form. Sandy did not even read the form nor allow me to go ask Dr. Butler to fill the form out ( I asked). So now I'm hoping they'll fill it out via email or it looks like it'll all come out of pocket. Good thing I didn't buy anything she tried to push on me. I told her I wasn't sure if computer glasses were covered by my insurance (and politely said I'd wait to buy any glasses until I could check with them), and she came out pretty hostile insisting that I'd have to pay the price anywhere I went. I know I came to a pricey Manhattan boutique (with the price tag to match), but she made me feel like she's never had to experience NOT being able to afford anything in her life. If she thought being pushy and condescending was going to pressure me into buying 2 pairs of glasses that I wasn't sure I wanted/could afford, she was wrong. I decided to just pay the exam fees (of which my insurance only covers a fraction of anyway) and leave. Honestly, especially in this pandemic, I would've expected a little more compassion and understanding. I'd say I'd come back to Studio Optix but I'll be more prepared to guard my wallet and be a little aggressive back when it comes to the salespeople. read more

Terrible , overpriced, rude and elitist. Outrageous customer service. I purchased a pair of Anne et Valentin frames with lenses for 1000$ they took 5 weeks longer then expected , unapologetically so, but being the mid of pandemic , I took it on the chin. However when they broke in my hands three weeks later and they wanted 350 $ to fix it. I was outraged. I was also stuck I already paid 1000 I had to just pay 350$ ? But what about the warranty ? What about the company who makes these glasses? So I reached out to Anne at Valentine - now they are the opticians for the ages. Not only did they stand by their brand name and replaced the frames for free , they have been my opticians ever since. read more

AMAZING!!! I cannot believe the amazing service I had from Studio Optix. Came in before closing and gave my most recent prescription from my previous optometrist... Amazed with my glasses and amazed that I received it the very next day! Also, my many thanks to Andrea, very friendly service and asked all details in regards to my insurance... Insurance couldn't cover it but, was thankful that they understood my budget. Will come in again very soon! read more

Studio Optix - New glasses! - Optometrists Near Me - New York, New York

While my family and I have been coming here for years and absolutely adore Dr. Butler, I unfortunately had a rather unpleasant experience today. While waiting for my husband to have his eye exam, I asked the front desk to explain my bill to me and what my insurance covers and was met with a snarky response by an employee named Eralda, which I initally ignored. As I continued to wait for my husband to finish his appointment, my three year old was being loud for a couple minutes -- as my husband selected his choice of glasses, the same employee told me that " I can't hear my patients so please leave." Although my daughter heard that and started crying, I took her out of the store immediately. After my husband finished his appointment, I confronted Eralda who started yelling at me and started using profanities in front of my daughter and said "no other kids are like yours." I left the store in tears and wondered if she would still treat me this way if I was a different skin color. I left the store extremely hurt and dissaponted that a place like this, which I have trusted with my vision needs for 7 years, would have an employee who is so rude to their customers and refuses to accept their fault in any form, instead characterizing their customers kids as nuisances. Also super unfortunate to see what a non-family friendly environment this is. I am writing so future customers can beware of this person and don't go through the same experience I did. As a note- the rest of the employees have always been pleasant and I feel bad giving it a one star but such behavior Should never be tolerated. read more

I love my annual visit to Studio Optix! I see Dr. Butler for my exam and he is lovely and efficient. I always have a chance to discuss any new concerns and never feel rushed. The entire eyewear team, including reception, is one of a kind. I typically see Adam, but have also consulted with others over the course of the last 8 years and everyone has an eye for style. I love unique frames and ALWAYS choose from the options the SO team presents - they are talented at understanding their clients' facial structure, aptitude for boldness. Time after time, I walk away with special frames that garner daily compliments from strangers. It is truly eye candy! read more

Could've garnered a new patient if they had been helpful. I work a few blocks away and dropped my last contact on the day before an international trip. Called to see if they had any samples that I could purchase and, after telling them I was not a current patient, they asked for information concerning my prescription. After providing that information, they then told me they couldn't provide sample lenses to non-patients. First, why ask for my prescription information after I already told them I was not a current patient if they were going to refuse to be helpful in any event? I could've booked a future appointment at the time and changed my eye doctor to here given the proximity to my office, but I will certainly not be doing so given their inflexibility and inability to be helpful. read more

I needed to have an eye exam and new glasses all of with cost me up towards 800 dollars. The doctor I saw was very warm and welcoming but after that the experience was horrible, When I came to pick up my new glasses (4weeks after the appointment) the prescription was wrong --I have progressive lenses and they were upside down. I said something while sitting and having them fitted and was told for the first time that I would just need to get used to it and my eyes would adjust. Mind you this is not the first time I've had a pair of glasses. The manager then told me to take the glasses and give them a try before complaining that the prescription was wrong. I explained I could not see and would not take them. I was told it would take another 2-3 weeks for them to be fixed. I came back when I was told they were ready and again the prescription was off. I tried to explain this to the manager again and she again talked down to me as if this were the first time i had worn glasses. I had to go out of town and she insisted that I take the glasses with me and just let my eyes adjust to them. Two weeks later I was back explaining that the prescription was off and I was getting headaches. I was told to see the doctor again and again my prescription was changed. Another week goes by and again Still wrong. the manager had the nerve to argue with me that I didn't know my eyes and tried to speak industry jargon to me as if I didn't or wouldn't understand what was happening. Finally the Dr. checked my eyes again and redid the prescription and they are finally ok. The Service was absolutely horrible for a store of this caliber. I should have just stuck with the place I usually go to because at least I know my glasses would have been right. NEVER AGAIN and I will have my company take Studio Optic's off of our referral list. I have been a patient of Dr. Cassel's for about five years. Every experience I've had with Dr. Cassel and his staff has been stellar. My appointments always start on time. In the entire time I've been a patient, I think I've maybe had to wait 5 min tops. Dr. Cassel is personable, easy to talk to, and very thorough. He uses the most high end and cutting edge tech so I know he's able to assess my eye health in meticulous detail. He also always takes the time to succinctly explain what each of my results mean. I always leave my appointments smarter and in a good mood! His staff is also fantastic. They are always prompt with my contact orders. I always get them in just a few days. Much faster than some of the online retailers I've used in the past. I also had an amazing experience getting new frames. The staff treated me like a VIP even though I was on a budget. They were able to find me the perfect pair of glasses. I was shocked when they brought them out because I never would have picked them in a million years. I used to want Lasik desperately but now I actually enjoy wearing glasses! Clearly I'm very pleased with Dr. Cassel and Studio Optix. I highly recommend Dr. Cassel. read more

I've had hit or miss experiences with eye care in my 5 years in NYC, so I am quite happy to have found Studio Optix. My girlfriend and I have both been patients for a couple years now, and continue to be impressed with the level of service on both the examination/care side, as well as the commercial side (styling/frames etc). We both see Dr. Butler for examinations and care, and he is professional, skilled, and empathetic. I've had issues with bad prescriptions in the past, but he nails it every time. For frames etc, Adam has been incredible. He listens to styling goals, and gives constructive feedback. My girlfriend and I both love what he's come up with for us, and we've never felt pressured to buy anything we didn't want/need. The office is also in a convenient (to us) and easy to find (Rockefeller) location, and is always clean and organized. Can't recommend this place enough! read more

Update: it's been a while but today I just saw that the prescription from here is valid only for 1 year. Usually it's 2 years for frame glasses. I'm shocked. They think they're smart that customers will have to come back for another prescription, but it's obvious that I'll never come back again. My optometrist Dr. Butler was good. I was impressed by the equipment here. But I had a terrible shopping experience with the staff. I am surprised by the good reviews here. This was my first time to use insurance to get prescription glasses. The staff member never explained my insurance benefits and I didn't realize there were many options that I could pay much less. This girl was very impatient when she was showing glasses to me and I was very uncomfortable with "You want extra thin lenses right?". I was stupid enough to say yes. I didn't know there were other options that my insurance could cover better and in the end, I paid over $400 out of my pocket. In general a lot of the staff here were unfriendly, impatient, and condescending. I was very disappointed. read more

I've been coming here for over 10 years now. I only come back here because I like the optometrist, and the location/proximity to my work. Other than that don't bother, especially don't order eye glasses. They just cannot have them ready on time. One week becomes two weeks, then next week, and the following week. They employ so many people in the shop yet they cannot keep up, clearly whoever runs this business don't know how. Well, I guess I don't learn. I ordered an another a pair this month, this is my 5th pairs with them, and needless to say the cust rep says they are going to be ready next week, just like she said two weeks ago. read more
