Very fast I needed glasses in a pinch and they stepped up. not only did they overnight them to me, they also picked out about 50 frames to try on and helped me decide which looked the best. They have great style and a large selection of high quality frames, even budget friendly options but don't expect this to be Walmart of glasses, this is Manhattan, but fair price for designer. read more

They took care of me in an emergency situation. Ninety minutes later I had a new pair of bifocal glasses. If anyone can do it, NYC can, and these folks proved it. read more

We were in a real pickle. Arrived in NYC without contact lenses. Peyton said he could help if I could get the prescription. When I was struggling with accessing it, Marina and Gregg walked me through the process and partnered with our eye doctor back in California to get us emergency lenses! They went above and beyond and are now my go-to optical in NYC. They are the best! read more

I have been going to Grand Central Optical for my eyecare for the last 5 years. They've been fantastic in helping me choose the best options for my vision and even recently convinced me to try a new contact brand - using 2 week contact lenses versus the monthly contact lenses that I've been using for years. It's hard to change but I trust that they recommend the best options for my vision needs. Anytime my glasses need adjusting, they're always happy to help. I love how convenient this location is as well. And they have a second location not too far away too. Sometimes if they don't have contact trials that I need, they'll send them over from the other location. They also have a great selection for glasses if you're in the market. I purchased my current pair from this location. I would recommend them to anyone looking for a new eye doctor. read more

Grand Central Optical - Optometrists Near Me - New York, New York

I love this practice. They are the kindest and most professional practice I've encountered, so much so that even though we moved out of state (like 15 states away) I still make my appointments for when I am in town. My son got sick on our trip and even though it was last minute, they were so accommodating to reschedule my appointment. They are also incredible with getting the contacts shipped out on time. Dr Lisa is a phenomenal and whip-smart lady. I've always felt that she takes her time and makes sure that I have the right prescription. I will come to this practice for as long as possible. read more

Grand Central Optical - Optometrists Near Me - New York, New York

My wife tore a contact on the flight up to NYC and it was her last pair. I went to work looking for a place near where we were staying that might be able to fill her prescription while we were in the city. Grand Central optical did not disappoint when we arrived. We we came in and within five minutes they were able to get her set up with a new pair of contacts and we were on our way. Alina was the person who helped us and she was amazing. Thank You! Great Job! read more

I've been to this location on two separate occasions. Once to quickly repair my glasses and another too switch out a pair of lenses to a new frame. Each encounter the entire staff goes over and beyond when it comes to service. For once I'm looking forward to my schedule eye exam because I know where I'll be taking my business. Thank you all at Grand Central Optical! read more

Very friendly and helpful staff! Always a great experience when I go and they go above and beyond with their customers

So I broke my father's glasses, so I looked around and found a eyeglass repair shop barely 5 blocks from me. I went in and was immediately greeted by this gentleman and lady who got right on fixing my dad's glasses. After a little tampering with his glasses they fixed it and handed it to me. I asked if I should pay now and they said you don't have to! How nice! I'm glad I went to this place because it was quick, easy, and free. read more

Fantastic and friendly service. I needed same day glasses and they delivered. Very professional and even used my old frames so I didn't have to pick out new ones. Would definitely recommend. read more

Friendly, convenient, efficient and interesting selection. AND they accept old glasses and give to charity. It's a yes :) read more

Had a good experience here. Professional, courteous service and quick turnaround on glasses.

Absolute legend. Fixed my glasses in 30 seconds. Prompt and direct service. Exactly what NYers need!

The staff was friendly and helpful. The owner came by and participated as well. My glasses are just what I wanted. Light weight titanium. Good shape for me. I'll go back. read more

It's been more than 6 years since I last upgraded my prescription eyeglasses, and I am glad that Grand Central Optical was the one that helped me upgrade. People there are friendly, transparent, and extremely helpful. The eye doctor, Dr. Rachel, was efficient and super approachable! Choosing a frame that works for my facial structure was easy thanks to the wonderful team. Highly recommend! read more

Conveniently located in the Iconic Grand Central Terminal. Excellent and attentive service. The manager, Greg, is extremely accommodative and helpful. Opthomoligist has great "eye-side-manners". read more

Traveling here on vacation and I was in my hotel room and accidentally slammed into my glasses, causing my lens to pop out and bending the frame. I was worried since I didn't have any other pair and it was in bad shape. I was staying in a hotel nearby and looked them up. Walked in and they immediately took care of me but warning that the frame could potentially break as they weren't familiar with the company I had. No problem here, was my last resort to see a broadway show and NYC clear! Ten minutes later, he cleaned both lenses, fixed the frame, and I was on my way no charge at all. Great customer service. Highly recommend! read more

I had used Grand Central Optical for years, both because of their professionalism and friendliness as well as their proximity to my office. Once I retired I bought a new pair of glasses from an optician in Westchester. They were very nice but not in the same league as Grand Central. When my prescription changed I went back to Grand Central and Greg and could not be more satisfied. read more

Can't say how easy our experience was, with my 11 year old son. He tried about 10 different types and he would a pair he liked in 10-15 mins. They took our insurance and the medical spending account. We could not be happier for such a pleasant and painless experience. read more

Pros: Clean Fast Excellent doctor Nice workers Convenient location Cons: Lenses and frames are expensive Workers seem to be in competition with each other. I got my glasses today and they are awesome. read more

There is a great team running this place! Doctors and staff are both professional and knowledgable. I highly recommend this place for your eye care! read more

I've been a customer of Grand Central Optical on Madison Avenue for many years. The optician and optometrist are both very professional and extremely courteous. People will complain that GCO is expensive. Yeah, well, they are. However, I needed new glasses during COVID so I went to a local shop that claims to be affordable. Those glasses cost virtually the same as my last pair from GCO, they were just "cheaper." They had to be remade several times and the coatings have disintegrated in just over two years. I was so glad to be able to return to GCO for replacements! read more

The staff at Grand Central Optical are true professionals in every sense of the word when it comes to eye care and customer service. I would highly recommend them to those who expect nothing less than optimal service, especially when dealing with ones eye sight. They've gone above and beyond in helping me in my efforts to finding the best contacts that fit my eyes after a decade of using the same old. My vision is as transparent as my review. Ten stars. read more

They refused to get me contact lenses or share my very own prescription with me in the middle of the pandemic. Creating a health hazard. Be very careful. read more

Highly recommend this place. A long time NYC resident...I only wish I found it sooner! Aside from making extremely high-quality lenses with a terrific selection, customer service at GCO is exceptional. Manager Greg and his staff couldn't be more courteous and helpful! Love my frames and glasses not to mention I'm one of those clumsy folks who constantly needs adjustments to my frames. They always politely and gladly oblige. If the above is what you are after, GCO is your place! read more

I've been coming here for years even though I live out of the city. Gregg and his staff are extremely professional and the kindest I've ever had the pleasure of meeting. They are one of the best when it comes to helping me in getting the best contacts and frames that won't burn a hole in my pocket. The doctors are very helpful and knowledgeable and don't mind if you ask them plenty of questions, silly or not. I highly recommend all to come here for your next eye appointment or just to get a pair of frames. They are ONE OF THE BEST! read more

I first came to this store because the nose pad of my glasses fell off. Not every optical store carries the brand of my glasses and this location in Grand Central is right by my work. The staff here is accommodating and courteous. The nose pad was replaced free of charge! Because of my good impression about the store, I later came to get a pair of new glasses and did my eye exam with them, even after I realized that the store was out of network for me. The manager was very good at making sure that I get discounts to bring down the cost so I don't pay more than that I would have had if I stay in the network. Thank you! read more

A screw in my sunglasses (which I did not purchase there) fell out. I called ahead to make sure they were open, they told me to come in. They were very nice, fixed my sunglasses in a minute, did not charge me, and refused to accept a tip. An optical store I stopped by earlier, one avenue east, wanted $10 to fix them. I told them no thanks. Based on the service I received, this place will definitely be at the top of the list next time I need a new pair. read more

Took care of my bent sunglasses that I didn't buy through them - took 2 minutes and they didn't charge me for the service. Very nice people.

The nose pad on my glasses broke today on the way home, so I decided to stop in here. Such great customer service and even though I offered to pay, the young man replaced both pads for free! You don't find folks like this too often anymore! Much appreciated! read more

I had the BEST experience at Grand Central Optical. I had just switched insurance plans and wanted to make a change from glasses to contacts (which I was very nervous about). Greg could not have done a better job explaining the pricing. The dr preforming the eye exam was SO friendly. The person who taught me how to use the contacts was super efficient. By the time I came to pick up my contacts, Greg treated me like an old friend and answered any remaining questions. My contacts arrived at lightning speed (approx two days after ordering). I am so appreciative of the great service I received!! read more

Not really a fan of this place. Go to LensCrafters unless you need to get those (overpriced) French LaFont frames. Pros: - Selection of really fruity designer frames - Wider selection of really frenchy-french, oui-oui-oui frames Cons: - the lenses are 200% the price of the same at LensCrafters (during their semi-annual sale); even w/out the semi-annual sale, it's a markup - LensCrafters has 90-day guarantee (sorry GCO, but sometimes a capitalism is a biotch) - the lens on my left eye was significantly wider/fatter in the bottom left corner of the lens (my left eye is worse). i pointed this out to them (uhh... is it supposed to look like this?), but they said they couldn't do anything about it and that's the way it's supposed to be. I went to LensCrafters and they made my lenses the EXACT SAME WIDTH with the prescription. what... does this place employ a bunch of elves from the stone age chiseling away at the lenses? maybe the elves are blind.. you really can't get the lopsided thickness of my glasses right? it's not like LensCrafters has the advantage of a space-age electron laser or smthg. just shave that luv handle down. i can probably do it with a nail file. in fact, i just might when i get home. anyone with the same issue, contact me. i have a nail file. i'll charge you a yling-yling at the bar instead of your yearly retirement contributions. read more

Guys, this place is the real deal. I came in last year for glasses without a hitch, but the true test was this year. When my glasses came in there was a major issue--when I returned, the store manager explained why it was happening, and how he could fix it. And then he did. 20-minutes later the curvature was adjusted and I could see without dizziness or blur. Their prices are a little high, yes, but I like knowing that if I have a problem, they're going to fix it. Try avoiding them during the lunch rush as it becomes, predictably, a madhouse. read more

I was just inducted as a member of the Four Eyes Club this week. It was a long and desperate path ending up here...you see, I always had perfect vision. And then 8 weeks ago I started getting headaches, pressure in my head and sensitivity to light. A neurlogist thought I was getting migraines, but after doing my own research I realized that the I had started feeling worse after getting a new flatscreen monitor at work. Long story short, after visiting an Opthamologist who knew nothing about "Computer Vision Syndrome" and wrote me a prescription for glasses to correct slight farsightedness with an anti-glare shield for computer work, I went to Grand Central Optical after reading Mel F's review. Their website proclaimed they were specialists in working with Computer Vision Syndrome, so off I went. Sorry for all of the backstory, but in this case it's relevant. I explained all of my symptoms to the nice gentleman on staff who helped me out, and he gave me more answers in 5 minutes than any doctor had in the previous 8 weeks. I explained my budget was tight after having spent way too much visiting other specialists, so he made sure to only show me frames that were $300 or less. There is a huge selection in every price range; lots were very cool/trendy/unique, along with many more traditional frames. I ended up with an awesome, funky pair of La Font glasses, and they were ready for pickup two days later. I'm so relieved to have found a place that understands the pain I was in working at a computer for 9 hours every day! The glasses are great and the whole experience was great, too. The only thing that was slightly off putting was that the staff, who were very courteous to patrons, were kind of rude to each other. It was just weird to be sitting there and getting along so well with the employee, who would then turn around and yell at another employee. If they can maybe learn to keep their personal arguments contained to the break room, the Grand Central Optical experience would be even better. read more
