I wish I could give zero stars after the experience I had. I went to them for custom color contacts. After an exam and assessment, I was told that I would get the custom ones that fit me correctly and didn't obstruct my vision. Well, we tried and we tried and no luck- every pair they sent me caused me vision obstruction. I went back to them to return them and was told I was SOL- $2000 later and nothing to show for it because they lied to me to make the sale. DON"T TRUST THEM FOR ANYTHING! read more

So this place must be good as it was full. Long story short, my son forgot his contact lenses on our trip to NYC. This place was by our hotel. The receptionist was so sweet and more importantly sympathetic. Because we weren't going to be in the city for long, ordering the lenses was not an option but she managed to find some lenses for him for the 2 days he needed. Yes of course we had to pay but quite honestly is was the service and kindness of the receptionist. She was rude and passive aggressive, making comments about the duration of our call multiple times. She also suggested that I cancel my appointment because I didn't fully understand her question and required her to repeat the answer. I just want to take a moment to say (although this post is overdue) a sincere thank you to Anastacia (spelling?) and the eye doctor and the entire team for being life-saving when my very strong prescription contacts did not make it to nyc with me. I was a long time patient- YEARS ago when I worked and lived in NY and they were so helpful as I panicked and ran there asking if I could help. They managed to get me sorted and I cannot say enough about their kindness. If l still lived in nyc I would 100 percent still be going there, but sadly the plane ride away cant work for regular doctor. I do recommend for anyone in that area and appreciate that they are a locally owned operation and have been there at that location for years. I am very disappointed about the Studio Optix on 49th and 5th Ave. I brought a pair of Lindberg frame for my glasses earlier this year. The frame came twisted. I requested to exchange the frame or have the frame adjusted so that the lens can be aligned. It ended that neither were properly address. Visited NY and stopped in to meet amazing Jessie to show me some frames for my progressive eyeglasses. Had an AMAZING time trying on frames I would have never picked out for myself and ended up buying a pair of eyeglasses and darling sunglasses. I recently went to Studio Optix to see Dr. Mitch Cassel for an annual appointment. A friend had recommended Dr. Cassel and I was impressed by the optometrist's experience and insight. Dr. Cassel did give me a new prescription and it was my good fortune to have it filled by Tatiana Nizovitinia, one of the opticians there. Tatiana is very knowledgeable, but she is also patient and friendly-which really count for me. I wear progressive lenses and she understands the science behind them, and she so was able to select the right brand for my needs. Moreover, she knows how vision insurance works, so using it for the cost of my lenses was seamless. But beyond being proficient in lens design and insurance, what I really appreciated about Tatiana was her intuitive feel for frame selection-that is, the aesthetics of how various frames look on my face. If you have the need for custom contacts, don't hesitate. I have a relatively minor iris defect. Other doctors have made me feel like it's not a big deal, but it affects my confidence in a big way. The doctor made me feel so heard and understood. He took a ton of time with me and figured out a solution. It was even less expensive than the initial estimate. The staff made sure I know how to care for my lenses. I was back in town and a block away recently and stopped in to thank the staff member who I had never met in person and the doc stopped and saw me and checked in on how I was doing. I'm knocking off a star because the people at the front desk are a bunch of, I'll be nice, bullies. They have a sign in the store, Yelp us! I didn't want to tell anyone that I'm the Yelp Superman, I first wanted to see how it all played out. My wife & I are in NYC for brunch. She says, oooh! Lets stop in this eyeware store, I want to see if they have cool frames. I walk in and we are greeted by, I forget her name again, Lizette? She is so nice, she starts showing my wife a few frames. I start looking around and I see a outrageous looking Tom Ford frames for myself. I try them on, man I look like I should be on the wall. And the wall? It's all Italian: De Niro, DiCaprio, James Gandolfini (Rest in Peace), it just makes sense I should be on the Italian wall. Our insurance company allows us to buy new eyeware annually. Not a problem I'm told. My current doctor on Long Island, a nice older man but this year I would like to see a doctor with 21st century equipment and not have an exam with a million lenses. We return in January, my wife sees her frames but my frames have been sold?! Dang!! Not to worry, our salesperson shows me similar frames. My heart was set on the Tom Fords. Then, she pulls out a frame I never heard of. I'm told its made in France, not by the black hand of eyeware, the Luxottica Group. Sold! I make my eyeware appointment and I buy both frames. When I return is when the shenanigans start. I walk up to the front desk, all chipper. Hi, I'm here for my eye exam? Yes, your insurance wants to charge you $39 dollars for eye dilation or you can bypass the eye dilation for a different exam not covered which costs $39 dollars. I say I am not paying this charge! My insurance plan has this exam covered, I'm not paying. Now one of the sales persons jumps in, I interrupt him, I tell him I am not paying. Got it? Once I see Dr Butler, he is a nice man. I tell him I bought two expensive frames. I have plans in NYC today that I cannot have dilated eyes, can I do this important test next year? Of course sir. Then we start joking about things, my exam is over. I see all these funky folks at the counter, I smile, give the peace sign and jet out. Yesterday, I picked up my new glasses. First off, they are cool as hell. Secondly, the progressives are amazing! It's the first thing I said, everything seems sharper, total, total fan. Next year, I'll pay the $39 dollar fee.
