It's good quality but expensive. (On average we pay $1500 for a pair) **What bother me and my family the most is: my glasses have needed adjusting 3 times. Most of them the adjuster isn't there or busy with other people. It's a bit irritating because it's an hour trip for me. ( I went there 6 times , and 3 times he wasn't there). So ridiculous. Three Stars is a stretch because there was E for effort put into fixing my eyeglasses nose guards. A big E like on the eye chart. My problem is with my feelings. Unfortunately I can't escape the atmosphere I felt from the moment I entered. I walked in to one of their many locations for the first time. I wasn't greeted by a smiling face to make me feel welcome. I felt like I should turn and leave but it's a small space so I stepped forward to the lady behind the counter. After telling her my problem she said there "usually" would be a $5.00 charge for nose guards. I said I could get them free elsewhere and prayed I could turn and leave. Nope, she said she would look to see if they had the hard plastic I need. After a while she returned and said they didn't have them. There was some discussion with the other employee in my hearing distance regarding what I needed. All the while I wished I hadn't walked in the door. I grabbed a business card knowing I would do a review of this experience. Now I understand that other branches of this chain have closed. There could be many reasons for the sadness and lack of enthusiasm when a customer enters. Everyone has a bad day now and then. I felt like I was a bother. Will I return? No. If you're in the neighborhood and want to try them you make your own decision. My philosophy is to smile and welcome every customer while you are being in the present and in the moment when you're on the job. It's not about the business establishment's issues or your personal problems, it's the customers turn to be in the spotlight! read more

I dropped in without an appointment on a Friday, for a much needed eye exam. Mike was great and his staff were a reflection of the solid business they run. He got me an appointment within the same hour and the exam was awesome! Dr Wu, really knows her field! She spent extra time with me to discuss my concerns regarding a past eye injury. That meant a lot. Optyx are extremely knowledgeable about frames, designs and emerging styles. At no time did I feel pushed into a purchase or a service I did not need. 5 stars without a doubt. I did not want to give them one star! I really wanted to give them ZERO stars! I brought a pair of NEW Ray Ban sunglasses to be adjusted and the manager cracked the lenses. I went to pick them up and he stated he was not responsible. Then who is responsible? Crazy!!! He was rude and quite arrogant. In all my 30 years of getting sunglasses adjusted, I have never experienced cracked lenses. I would NEVER go to any Optyx location. The customer service is horrible and they are not knowledgable or professional in the eye glass/sun glass industry. I had to take a moment to write this review. I have my (favorite) pair of Quay sunglasses, and over this past weekend, the rim got bent out of shape in such a way that it would be impossible for them to stay on my face. Before resorting to just buying another pair (yes, I love them that much), I figured I would give this place a try as I walk past them almost every day on my way to/from work. I couldn't be happier! So...I flew into JFK today from Las Vegas...sat on my glasses at the beginning of my flight and broke them!! Of course I didn't bring a spare...so getting them "fixed" or whatever was a priority to me...we saw this business as we came out of the Metro station walking to our hotel...after we checked in we went into this business and was greeted by CG...I explained my situation and she took a look at my glasses and said hopefully she could fix them but the metal hinge was bent so when she straightened the hinge out there would be a chance it would break the frame...I said ok please do whatever you can...she came back in 5 minutes with them all fixed and cleaned and shiney...I was so happy...and to top it off no charge...even though I'm from out of town and would most likely never buy glasses from them...that's 5 star service!!! I wanted to really try out this place because it's very close to my work. I had a schedule here at 6:15pm on a Thursday, but when I entered the place I was not greeted by the two sales associates and they also gave me a very dirty look. I told them I have an appointment at 6:15pm and the older lady was very rude to tell me that my appointment was actually at 6pm. First of all, I repeated many times on the phone that I needed a 6:15 appointment and they confirmed. I had been considering getting my eyes examined and happen to walk by this OPTYX store right before they were closing. On a whim, I made an appointment to have my eyes checked out the following week. When I arrived for my eye exam, I was greeted immediately by Eddie as I walked into the store. Eddie showed me different frames and told me what he thought looked good on my face. Eddie also took my old glasses and adjusted the fit. I feel kind of funny now thinking that my old glasses were hanging on my face with a side-tilt. After being assisted by Eddie, Dr. Tran greeted me and brought me out back for my eye exam. Dr Tran was very professional and calmed me down since I was a bit nervous for my exam. She was patient, very sweet, super smart, upbeat, and knowledgable. Dr Tran explained the process to me and also helped me understand what was going on with my eyes in a way I could understand. Dr Tran made recommendations based on her examination of my eyes. This relieved me from my nervousness and apprehension toward having lights in my eyes. Dr Tran made me feel comfortable and relaxed during the eye exam. She was amazing! I really enjoyed my experience at OPTYX. I have recommended this location to my friends, and I purchased a really great frame from Oliver Peoples. Oh, my glasses were ready in less than a week too. That was great service. I could not be any more pleased with my experience with Dr. Tran and Eddie. If you wish to have your eyes examined, then do not hesitate to see Dr. Tran. Michael the manager there is a welcoming professional and showed all the options i was looking for (I was looking for lightweight reading glasses). He is very responsive and followed through on all my questions. I was walking home from work when I spotted a variety of beautiful celine frames in the store window. I went in and Vicky was very helpful in helping me find one that fit my big ass face. I LOVE THESE FRAMES and I get compliments on them consistently. As for the eye exam, the eye doctor was amazing (I forgot her name), she actually took the time to address all my issues with dry, irritated eyes as well as fit me for contacts and glasses. My wife and I went here to get glasses or contacts. They told both were covered. Upon return to pick up the glasses they said we actually weren't covered for contacts and glasses and had to pay $100 for the contact lens fitting. They didn't bend and wouldn't remove the fee even though they messed up. Don't go to this Optyx. Try somewhere else even if you think you know your insurance. They'll mess it up. I walk past this OPTYX everyday headed to work and when it became time for my eye exam, it was an easy choice to make an appointment with OPTYX. Well I am so glad I chose this store and not another because of three things: 1. The ease in scheduling the appointment. 2. The professional and courteous front staff. 3. The pleasant, funny, and kind optometrist. I had no problem scheduling an appointment for the exact same day and I used ZocDoc to schedule the appointment and complete all the necessary paperwork online. I am appreciative that ZocDoc was an option because when I arrived for my appointment it significantly cut down my wait time and made the visit transition quicker. The front staff were amazing. They all had a smile on their face, greeted me immediately upon walking into the door and had no problems answering my questions and offering their opinion on the style of frames that worked for my face. I ended up purchasing my own frames from another store and bringing them in to be fitted for my prescription. This was not a problem and they handled my frames with care. Dr. Tran was just amazing. She was so kind and held a conversation with me the entire eye exam. She made me feel comfortable and focused my attention away from the flashes of light in my eyes. While Michael who runs the shop is perfectly charming I would not recommend this place. I ordered 4 pair of prescription glasses beginning on March 3 2021. I waited anywhere from 10 to 14 + days to get them back and most times something was wrong. They even lost a pair of my frames I intended to use but did replace them with a pair in the store. Had a terrible experience with this store. I ordered two frames impulsively and tried to cancel one of them within the hour. I was told this was impossible and against company policy. Where was it stated? On a sign I couldn't see, 3 inches by 8 inches, silver letters on a silver background. Totally unfair. I should have been allowed to return them both if I had chosen to and since I couldn't read the fine print on the receipt, I didn't know the store policy of buyer beware. They should make their sales staff give you a verbal warning before you sign for them. Very disappointed by the quality of the materials and the lenses do not converge correctly for my reading needs. I explained my situation to them and they said as long as I have my eye doctor fax over an Rx, they can give me a pair. It was done with no problems! They were so helpful and a life savor! She had the worst attitude I've ever seen. She was abrupt, obnoxious and really shouldn't be working as a sales person. She's terrible with people!
