The attention of the staff, from the doctors to their associates, is beyond compare. Their knowledge of state-of-the-art lenses and equipment is extremely impressive. I've been a customer here for quite a few years and they've never let me down with their guidance in frame selection and introducing me to new lenses. Would not hesitate to recommend Studio Optix to any of my friends or family. read more

Some mixed reviews here, but I must say we had a great experience. While in NYC last week our 10 year old son broke his glasses in half at the nose piece. Thankfully, we were in the hotel room, and it was late at night. Had to use tape from the lobby to hold them together. We got online and my husband was there when they opened at 9. By 9:30 we had a brand new pair of glasses, and our day was not ruined. Would use them again. read more

I have been seeing Dr Cassel for about 20 years. An excellent doctor who will spend an extraordinary amount of time with his patients. The office medical equipment is almost futuristic. The staff is friendly and helpful. If there is a problem they are there for you. Highly recommended! read more

Very nice offices. Excellent and friendly care. Fast and easy to set appointment. They sent me an email confirmation plus text reminders which was helpful. Doctor Butler was great and patiently explained everything and also found a better contact lens than what I was using previously. The opticians were helpful in selecting a frame that fit me well. They are high end but since they are in-network and have additional discounts the price out the door was very reasonable. Finally, they sent my statements and prescription to me via email which was super convenient and very helpful. This was my second time to use Studio Optix and even though I am now further away, it's worth the trip! read more

Cannot say enough about this place! Efficient, professional, and a pleasure to deal with. I can't think of a single thing that could be better. Have been coming for a few years. Just called by phone, my info was pulled up instantly and I had my contact lens re-order processed, for delivery to me without charge in two days. Hard to imagine better service. The medical staff is equally impressive - highly knowledgeable and totally trustworthy. There's no overselling -= just good, reliable service. read more

The doctors here are great. They care about you, they invest in the latest tech, and they actually make eye exams fun. The staff is fantastic, too--I've taken their recommendations on glasses frames several times, and wound up loving each pair and raking in the compliments whenever I wear them. Everyone at Studio Optix has a lot of knowledge and really cares about what they do. read more

Been struggling to find a good pair of glasses that fit my face and wasn't boring. Went here and the first pair Adam showed me was PERFECT. Only coming back here for glasses in the future. read more

Honestly, I only go here because its walking distance from my office and they accommodate later appts past 5pm. If it weren't for that, I would suggest going anywhere else. The doctors are nice, I've had Dr. Cassel do my exam a few times and recently had Dr. Butler do the exam. Both very nice and knowledgeable. The staff, though, is another story. The wait time is always a long. And when the staff talks to you there's always undertones of attitude that's not genuinely friendly. I always leave there feeling a little crappy because of the way they talk to you and I usually just finished paying a lot of money (which I can justify to myself because it's off 6th Ave and right in the heart of the tourist zone- Rockefeller Center, so fine). The billing part of the experience is always so uncomfortable because they don't tell you how much things are until you sit down and you're about to pay. After going in twice in the past week to get an eye exam and follow up on my new prescription, I am heavily considering just finding someone else to go to. read more

Adam was superb! My mom broke her glasses on the flight to NYC and Studio Optix came through. We ordered at closing and expected to pick them up the next day. Much to our surprise, Adam showed up at our dinner establishment (across the street) and hand delivered the glasses to my mom an hour after we left Studio Optix. Amazing customer service. If I lived in NYC this would be my go to place! read more

I've been coming here to see Dr. Cassell for 5 years now. I am definitely not a celebrity. I never to have to wait when I get there and the doctor always sees me promptly. Dr. Cassell is funny personable, but in a New York-get-you-in-and-get-you-out kind of way. The staff was super helpful when picking out new frames and three or four of them came over to weigh in their opinion, but only after I asked them to. Buyer beware - the frames at this place are pretty expensive. But the staff is really knowledgeable about most insurance coverage, so they were able to tell me that the expensive extras like non-reflective coating and other stuff was free to me. Otherwise I probably would not have dug out my benefits manual and wouldn't have known. And to the person complaining about the doctor telling you about a small chance of getting a hereditary condition 30 years down the road - isn't that what you're paying the doctor for? I'd rather know all the facts and then make a decision for myself. And this place def does not pressure you into buying anything. read more

I have been a patient here along with my family for 10 years and the service has always been first rate. The staff are friendly and dr classes is as professional as it gets. The store is comfortable and fun and they have a great selection of frames etc and people who know how to fit and make sure you leave wearing the right glasses etc. I cannot recommend highly enough. They have a lot of cool technology for checking all eye health as well and it helps with other health issues too. read more

Super friendly and knowledgeable staff with a collection of fashion forward frames in many interesting shapes, sizes and materials. Highly recommend visiting for glasses and sunglasses! Ana is amazing - great eye for what works for your face! I'm very happy with my frames read more

Awful! I had to BEG to get a prescription for contacts because I did not want to buy them directly from the store. I called to get a different prescription because I didn't like the daily contacts the doctor gave me as a trial and it took multiple phone calls as well as begging again. I had to ask FOUR times during the same phone call for the prescription when they tried to force me to order from the store. STAY AWAY! read more

I have a hard time with any service industry where the employees looks down their noses at you. That is not good service! The staff here has a holier than thou attitude and made me feel uncomfortable by my inability to shell out hundreds of dollars for glasses. Maybe if I smelled like money coming in the door they would be less snooty. I was getting negative looks when I asked to see the glasses that my insurance covered. I won't be going there again even if it is close to work. read more

No comprehension of how this place has any repeat business. The "doctor" made an inaccurate diagnosis of my prescription. When I came back to accurate reading I was very rudely treated by the entire staff including the optometrist (forgot his name but he wears black jeans and some active wear shirt) and in the end the prescription is still wrong. Never going back here. read more

Small office in the lobby of 30 Rock, but they have frames crammed into every nook and cranny of the walls. The selection is pretty good, with lots of interesting, funky frames. The prices match, though, so this isn't a place for bargain hunting. read more

I took my glasses in to get re-fitted and a sales associated burned the lens. She at first offered to replace it for free but the receptionist started waving her hands in the background (my back was towards her) to silently tell the associate that I was informed that they weren't responsible if the glasses weren't purchased there. I found that pretty underhanded, and then the associate offered to replace the lenses for $75, which she claimed to be her cost. After speaking to my old eye doctor (I recently moved to NY), the actual replacement cost for lenses is definitely below $75. I refused and had them repaired by my eye doctor in Chicago, which they did for no charge. All said, Studio Optix performed sloppy work and I don't think they maintain a very honest business practice. read more

I visited Studio Optix for an eye exam. While I was there they tried to sell me eyeglasses as well and I politely told them that I only wanted the prescription so that I could take it to my usual eyeglass store. The owner, Adam, became quite agitated. He kept giving me reasons to buy my frames from him and disparaged the store I intended to visit without even knowing who they were. He because passive-aggressive, with every fourth sentence of so being "But you can do whatever you want.". read more

This place is great. The staff is helpful and friendly. I go for exams and and any eye issues that come up. They always work with me to try to get an appointment asap. I had placed order for amount of US dollars, which sales clerk promise to delivery the glass within three days. And send invoice right after. After three days, I found out glasses frame is not even ordered and if order the right glass, it takes two weeks. Clerk is nice enough saying that they can offer temporary frame before the right one arrives. Then later on, store manager did not approve. So in order to us to get glasses on time, I request to return the sales, the Manager just basically said: since you already signed the credit card slip, you are not allowed to return the order even they can not delivery. The only choice I have is to wait. I never heard of this kind of service. In addition, I was never told when I can get delivery for my other orders. Very bad service and bad attitude. read more

This place has a good selection of frames but the customer service is quite horrible and underwhelming as once they perceive that you have no intent on buying immediately on that day or your wallet isn't fat enough, they immediately drop their smiles and take a completely different approach. They pretty much ignore you once they think you won't buy anything or consider buying anything. Browsing seems to be taboo and everything costs something, even if you want your glasses adjusted. read more

I was on my way to use this establishment for my new eyewear and contacts but after speaking with the Studio Optix customer service for 3 minutes, I felt as though I was interrupting them from something as if they were doing me a favor. The snarkiness and patronizing way they speak and approach a customer with questions is not appropriate. I have been to many Eyewear establishments but the Studio Optix customer service makes you feel that 2 questions are 1 to many. Patience is not their best quality. Studio Optix is not suited for one who is not informed about "every" aspect of their insurance, has several questions, or has to deal with high customer traffic. Beware if you see more than 2 customers in there, and please make sure you have your graduate degree in all things optics before you venture in Studio Optyx. There is a need at Studio Optix for Customer Service training, They could learn a lot from the Lens Crafters on 49th and 3rd, Ultimate Spectacle at 789 Lexington, Optyx at 599 Lexington ave and also Robert Marc at 551 Madison ave. There are so many more eyewear establishments that you can try. But save yourself so trouble and try other establishments that dont have Studio Optix patronizing attitude. If you want a pair of frames they have, search online and see who else has them here in this very large city that have a welcoming and helpful customer service staff. read more

The entire staff, especially Adam, was extremely rude. The doctor rushed me through an appointment and even answered personal phone calls about NFL tickets during our appointment. In a city with so many options, not sure why anybody would go visit this place. Total clown school. read more

I went there for a prosthetic contact. They consider themselves the best in NYC but unfortunately they have no idea what they are doing. Dr. Kassel and Sandy made me feel like they were doing me a favor by working with me. I was paying $950 per contact! The contacts are extremely thick and I got a really bad discharge/infection from them. The color matching wasn't bad but they need to improve those contacts. I've been wearing prosthetic lenses for 37 years. I know how comfortable they are and how they should feel. The contact felt so uncomfortable in my eye that I had to ask for my money back which they did. read more

I almost went to a to a lower priced 'supermarket style' optometrist just to $ave but... couldn't bring myself to do it. I keep going back to Studio Optix because Dr. Cassel and the staff consistently go above and beyond to not only get the Rx right, they take the time to work with you on administering the right exams, price, style and they're nice! Great customer service, the best technology, reliable and if you are not satisfied, you don't have to 'ask for a manager'. Just tell them what's bothering you and they will work with you... I know! I am very particular about my eye care and even during times when I was without insurance, have stayed with Studio Optix. And... we need to continue to support small businesses! read more

The only place in town where they charge you five bucks to adjust your glasses. Interestingly, also the only place I've been where they take your glasses away into another room, adjust them, bring them back and hand them to you. No "how does this feel?" No multiple adjustments. The girl working the front desk has a serious attitude problem. There are other glasses stores/eye doctors in this neighborhood. I recommend finding one of them instead. read more

I gave one star because there was no option for zero star. It was a horrible and stressful experience. The reasons are below 1. I went there three times in total. They charged me for an "office visit" which lasted less than 2 mins and the objective was to get my prescription. However, they NEVER gave me the prescription and ASKED ME TO COME BACK IN A WEEK'S TIME for the prescription. It was obvious that they were rushing to see more patients. I had to wait for more than 25 mins for my appointment, while they were seeing a patient. Then before the doctor had time to talk to me, another patient arrived after me. He decided to rush through and said that he would give me the prescription NEXT TIME. When the staff wanted my payment, I argued with the staff that this was not an official visit since he merely told me to come back next time. The staff proceeded to just keep repeating "you were seen" and that's a office visit and you have to pay whatever your insurance didn't cover. I guess of course I was "SEEN", since I was physically there waiting and was told to come back in a week's time. Plus, the staff on the phone was incredibly RUDE. 2. They charged me(full amount) for my contact lenses the day I called and placed an order. After a week, I called to inquire if I can pick up my paid for contact lenses and was told that they WILL NOT RELEASE my contacts even though I have PAID. The reason is that I have to pay off my outstanding bill which I was disputing. They FAILED to even mention this issue when I placed my payment for the contacts lenses. If they had told me this before I paid for my contacts, I would have NOT purchased my contacts from them. It's probably their way to trying to steal more money from you. I DOUBT if it is LEGAL to hold a product from a client who had paid for the product one week in advance. They don't even make the contacts. It's outsourced. So why shouldn't I receive a product that I paid for?! 3. The prescription they gave me this time is different from that of my previous prescription; HOWEVER they decided to give me trial contacts using my previous prescription. Doesn't it make sense if you're going to give trial contacts that you give them with the correct prescription? 4. Every time I call they put me on hold for 15 mins. 5. It is more a business then a place where you can trust and "give" your eyes to them. I highly recommend those of you seeking a worthwhile and trustworthy optometrist to go elsewhere. read more

Studio Optix is a money hungry store. I work at 30 Rock and out of convenience I go there to get simple maintenance work, like a screw replaced in my eyeglasses. They charged me $5 and I had my own screw. I went in looking to get my pupil distance measured and they would not do it because "they cannot be responsible". What they are responsible for is me not ever shopping there for eyeglasses or contacts. read more

This place is right by my office and they accept my insurance so I use them. The staff is friendly and they know their inventory. The optometrist is also friendly and has great advice for contact wearers and glasses wearers alike. However, both the staff and the optometrist are focused on upselling. I was looking for a cheap pair of glasses and a refill of my current contact prescription. The optometrist wanted me to switch to daily use contacts (three times more expensive than my current) and the staff person pulled out a pair of prada glasses and two other similarly priced glasses. I am sure that they had cheaper pairs in stock. read more

Very disappointing customer service experience at SO. A couple friends recommended the shop, so I checked them out; great collection of frames and very attentive staff on the front end, everything was great up to the point of billing my card $850 - then they forgot about me. Glasses were due 14 days later, so I called - they took a message, but no reply. So I called 18 days later and told me a lens was scratched in the factory, they started over, the glasses would take another day or 2. I called 3 days later, "not in yet, we'll call you." On day 27 I call again, "they came in yesterday come by to pick them up." I did, and the lenses fell out of the frames. "Oops, can you come back tomorrow when the technician is here?" Really disappointed in their lack of follow thru, outside of waiting a month for the new glasses; they didn't call or email me once with an update on the purchase. Sorry, long winded, but annoyed. read more

HOLY $700 later! I enjoyed my exam with Klibanoff even though i was scheduled with Cassell. Whatever - she turned out to be very cool and informative. The associate who helped me with selecting my frames definitely just put in the most expensive options on everything and i had to ask about other options. She seemed judgmental about it but eventually conceded. I personally don't like having to play detective with this stuff on the spot. Besides, the staff were friendly and i liked the frame selection offered. Seriously, though - if you don't want to spend leaps and bounds more than you have before then id suggest you go elsewhere. read more

Great selection of frames. Thoughtful input on frame selection. Dr Cassel was thorough and explained everything in great detail.

It's not usually my style to Yelp, but as new businesses are cropping up all the time and competition for consumers is fierce, I felt the need to share my 26 years of experiences with Dr. Mitchell Cassel and Studio Optix. My visit this morning for my annual eye checkup prompted me to once again realize that going to Studio Optix is far beyond and much better than a generic Pearle Vision and Cohen's Fashion Optical and the like. With Studio Optix, you get top-of-the-line technology and an amazing consultation about the condition of your eyes. Within seconds, the tests you take are transferred to a computer screen where Dr. Cassel sits with you and pinpoints in detail, using the graphics of your eye as a guide, how your eyes have changed since your last visit. I no longer need contact lenses as my eyes have improved, but whether it's lenses or reading glasses, you are not leaving his office on 49th Street until he is absolutely certain that you can see as clearly as necessary. As far as the staff, I have certainly seen quite a few changes as the years have passed, but of late I must single out Dawn, Sandy and Adam. Everyone is cordial and pleasant and if you are picking out frames, will patiently take the time, allowing you to try on as many styles as necessary (and the selection is quite impressive!) until you are fitted properly. As far as insurance, they work well with you and do most of the paperwork so you can avoid the hassle. In closing, I believe it's a testament to the treatment you get that I live in Queens and work in New Jersey but would rather find the time to make my way to Manhattan for the best eye care I believe I can get. read more

I've been coming here for about five years now and I'm a little miffed at the negative reviews. Personally, I've never had a problem. Both doctors are courteous as can be and they've gone out of their way to accommodate me with appointments when I had a corneal ulcer. I usually only come in once a year for my exam and I'm always surprised they remember me. I have only ever gotten contacts here and their contact prices are comparable to what you would get anywhere else. I do note that some of their frames are expensive, but you're also in midtown Manhattan. Everything is more expensive here. And let's be honest, a sales person's job is to upsell you. You are fully capable as an adult to pick something else. I've also had no problem with them tightening my glasses, which I bought years ago somewhere else, or my sunglasses. The staff is always courteous and responsive. read more

Dr. Sara is good - she spent at least 2 hours with me overall and conducted a very thorough eye exam, she made me feel very comfortable and truly went through the exams in great detail, showing me pictures and highlighting issues. Overall pretty great experience. The staff is okay, somewhat accommodating- do they push you to buy their lenses? Yes- and lenses are a little expensive as are the frames. I'd definitely recommend the eye exam here. They have no bathrooms, so it's a pain if you need to go to the loo, but otherwise the experience with the doctor was great. read more
