Tyrone was right on time, didn't waste a minute and delivery exactly as he promised. We moved 20 boxes of varying sizes to a storage unit 40 blocks from the pickup point. We helped him carry boxes to his van to keep the time and price down (We're cheap, sorry!). He let us ride in the van and was nice to talk to. He helped us unload and everything was complete in under 1 hour. $50 all-in and we were very happy to not have to hire and drive a rental van, pay $$$$ to a moving company or try to sneak a big lot of boxes into an Uber XL (which they undoubtedly would've turned away). Strong van man helped me move some expensive art work from Williamsburg to Tribeca. The paintings were to large for my van so Tyrone and his crew arrived with a 16 foot box. They arrived 10 minutes early and were very careful. They wrapped the art work and secured it on the truck with straps. These guys are trustworthy and the cost is affordable. I had the MOST horrible & extremely negative experience with this service. I fell for all the 5 star rating and hired him for a very small move within Brooklyn. Despite the initial professional and friendly demeanor, things took a turn for the worse once the move began. The provider, Tyrone, claimed to offer "2 men and a truck" service but ended up sitting in the van, while I ended up being the 'Moving Man#2'! and me and his assistant did all the work of carrying and loading/unloading the boxes while he just sat in his truck. Initially, Tyrone quoted a minimum time of 2 hours for the move, but he did everything possible to double it. This was incredibly frustrating, especially considering it's a very small move with a handful of items (a desktop computer & printer, 5 medium boxes, 2 suitcases with 1 stop in between to pick up one item. Total of just 8 miles including the additional one stop to destination). During the move, I realised that Tyrone was dishonest, lazy, and even became a bully towards me. As a single woman moving alone, I felt intimidated and unable to stand up to him. The whole experience was not only backbreaking (me having to do 50% carrying, loading and unloading), expensive but also incredibly stressful and traumatic due to his horrible behavior. Despite providing detailed information about the move, including maps, directions and parking, Tyrone ignored my instructions. Instead of parking in the parallel street that had parking spots and a short distance to the house, he chose to park it 2 whole blocks away on a busy thoroughfare Avenue, that too in the MTA BUS STOP, then simply sitting in the Van claiming that he had to stay with the van to a ticket, making me and his hired-hand Mark (btw, an excellent guy) & me carry the boxes 2 whole blocks, cross 2 lights (busy intersection), and walk back, again cross the 2 lights and 2 blocks making each trip to the Van and back, take minimum 10-15 min. Moreover, Tyrone failed to dispense enough blankets and tape, despite my request. This resulted in delays as his assistant had to go back and forth to the Van get the necessary supplies, wasting valuable time. The move itself was physically demanding, with me and Mark lugging boxes and bags while Tyrone sat in the Van. Since provided only ONE 18" open hardwood 'dolly' and no ropes to tie, the assistant had to bend over and holding them from one side and me holding them on the other side as he pushed the tiny dolly on the beat up sidewalk for 2 blocks with cracks and uneven slabs, then manoeuvring it off the sidewalk to the street and having to cross a busy intersection! All the while Tyrone refused to help and preferred to doze off in the van, avoiding any real work. The situation worsened when we reached the mid stop to pick up the 1 item on the way. Despite clear parking options in front of the building, Tyrone chose this time blocking the entrance to a parking garage of the building! Then claimed he couldn't leave the van, forcing me and his assistant, Marc, to carry the item and load it. Since I couldn't ride in the front, to navigate, Tyrone took advantage of this vulnerability and deliberately extended the route, turning a short distance of 2.7 miles into an agonizing ONE hour and 17-minute journey!!!! Upon arriving at my destination, Tyrone once again idles at the end of the block, far from the building entrance, despite ample space for parking. He rushed me to unload quickly and shouting he was late for his next job. He barely lets us grab couple of things, and he simply vanishes with the van! When he shows up after 10 minutes, still claiming no parking space, I finally lose my cool and make him idle/park right next to the building to unload, he became irate (as his plan now to stretch it even further to 4+ hours is failing I guess) and accused me of making him late and lose his next gig!!! !!! and demands now I have to pay almost double the amount, instead of $250, it's now $450, and unless & until I handover the cash, he will not allow me to take my boxes, ordering his assistant to load my stuff back on to the Van. I was so troubled by his aggression, screaming and yelling, I just opened my wallet and handed over whatever cash I had which was $378!! Even then he orders his assistant to just drop the luggage on the sidewalk and they have to go! Thankfully his assistant has some decency, so he drops them in the lobby, says sorry to me that he can't bring it upstairs. I want to warn and protect other single women who may consider hiring this company. My experience with Tyrone was terrible, traumatic, and far from what was promised. It is essential to share my story and shed light on the dishonesty and unprofessionalism displayed by this service provider. read more
