Pros: The shipment was fast + the team was communicative on when to expect our things. Cons: They tried to tell me that I had extra items that were not included & tried to charge me an extra $600 when they were listed on the original inventory list & the list emailed me upon confirmation. We actually continued to receive auto-text confirmations from them throughout the day, but that's for another yelp review lol) In a last minute panic to get movers AND storage for a same day turnaround, we somehow came across NYMSS and they were absolutely phenomenal. What could have been a total sh*tshow of a moving experience turned into a blessing in disguise: This was the best thing that could have happened to us during this move! The scheduled a same day pickup and move (this was during the midst of covid, when everyone was making an exodus), charged us reasonable prices (when we were really in a bind and totally desperate as we were moving out of state), and were just an overall pleasure to work with during a very high stress situation. They are incredibly communicative, accommodating, and professional. I can't recommend this business enough! In March 2021 my lease in nyc was ending and I had not seen my family at all since Jan 2020 due to covid. I decided to temporarily move back home out of state, spend time with my family, and store my belongings until I secured an apartment in NYC at a later date. Stacey (the receptionist) and Vlad (the mover) made this process unbelievably smooth during a stressful time. Stacey's customer service is unmatched. She explained every step of the storage and moving process with total transparency. The rental rate was very reasonable and pro-rated when necessary (who does that??). There was an optional, extra fee to hire Vlad for moving my belongings in and out of the rental unit. Also very reasonable, and Vlad and his team were swift, professional, and mindful of my large or delicate furniture. Their smallest storage unit held everything for a 400ft² studio apartment with room to spare. Even their website was easy to navigate to make the monthly rental payments. Seriously, I wish every business was run this well. If you're looking for honest, friendly folks to take care of your stuff, look no further! read more

NY Mobile Storage got our Door to Door moving box to our apartment. The delivery procedure was subject to NYC-ness (i.e. traffic and varying load/unload times of others'), so I was a little nervous that Stacy was only able to provide a three-hour window of delivery, an hour to unload, and then only to let me know when the delivery window would be the afternoon before. Moving day was stressful until the driver showed up. Vlad was here on time and we unloaded without any problems, and that's really what motivated me to write this review: the driver. Vlad was *awesome* (literally). We did not ask him to help unload at all, but he jumped right in and schlepped boxes up a flight. Dude is a machine. Really nice guy. We were in a situation where we had to move out of one apartment in Manhattan one week before we could move into our new apartment. Needless to say, it was an extremely frustrating situation, but NY Mobile Storage made it feel so easy. As far as customer service, Stacey is absolutely excellent. She was friendly, clear, accommodating and made me feel so relaxed about everything. Whenever I had to call for anything, I felt like I was talking to a friend! So different than my experiences with most other moving companies. Another huge plus was that the price was absolutely fantastic. I had called another "traditional" moving company and the cost to move our stuff into a truck then into storage and then out of storage into a truck was almost double! I was also worried about the potential damage to our things having to move everything twice. NY Mobile Storage couldn't have made it any easier - they brought a few "pods" right in front of our building (which could easily just be dropped off on the sidewalk, avoiding traffic jam issues) and filled them up. They even brought an extra pod for free just in case we needed another if the estimate was off! Then once the pods were filled, they brought them to their storage warehouse and when we were ready to move into our new place, they brought the pods, exactly as they were when we moved out, to our new apartment. The movers were extremely fast and were able to finish our 2 BR apartment in under the minimum 4 hours. The move in was even quicker. One more thing - one of our kitchen chairs was cracked in the move. Not only did they inform us about it, but they fixed the chair! Totally above and beyond. I feel extremely lucky that we found NY Mobile Storage and would highly recommend them to anyone moving - whether or not they need to store their items in between. We'll be moving again next year and undoubtedly plan to use them! read more

Great company! After calling 5-6 different local moving companies, Stacy was the quickest and most responsive when getting my estimate (3 other companies took more than 2 days to get back to me). Also considerably cheaper than the other estimates I got and were able to work with the VERY SPECIFIC time frame I needed the movers to come. They held up everything and moving a full 2 BR apartment full of stuff in Manhattan has never been smoother! The 3 man moving crew were professional, efficient and moved everything with zero breaks and their system with the fork lift couldn't have been more impressive. I ve used NY mobile storage in between 2 apartments (I had a month without a lease) Pick up and drop off was on time, as agreed, and pricing was very fair - rented 2 units for my 1 BR move. The units were super clean, and customer service from Stacey was also very nice, timely and answered all my questions. The guy that picked up and delivered the units back was also very efficient, and accommodating Really the best solution if you re in between 2 places, way easier than renting a truck and a storage space since you move the thing in the units downstairs from your apartment and get them delivered whenever later Used them as a friend recommended them (he used the same company for his move), and really happy with the service - go for it! I had to move a few items of furniture and a lot of boxes of breakables from my late mother's home into storage, in preparation for our future move to another state. BEST STORAGE PLACE EVER!!!! As soon as you see this storage place pop up please use it. Stacy is the manager of NY mobile Self Storage and she is one of the most helpful ladies. From day 1 she broke everything down and explained how the storage system there would work. We used their storage for 6 months. Not once did we have a bad experience to make us feel like our stuff was not safe. The storage is set up by containers and whenever you need to take something out of storage all you need to do is call stacy and give her a heads up and your stuff will be ready by the next day for you to go grab whatever you need. We had to move in to our new apt by 01 April and usually places are quick to say that it will take forever to have our stuff moved out to try and get us to pay for an additional month. Not NY Self Storage...call about 3 or 4 days in advanced and it was ready to be moved out..How much better can it get? Well... The movers one in specific (Vlad) was super helpful. He saw my fiance had no help whatsoever to move all the stuff inside the apt because all her friends had not arrived yet. What did he do? He helped unpack the containers. To say the thought of moving during COVID quarantine with an infant was daunting and choc' full of anxiety would be an understatement! So fortunate we found this company! Stacey was super helpful from our initial inquiry and made me feel calm and informed about the whole process and shared some great tips to make us feel extra prepared and feel good about the safety precautions the company was taking. I have lived in NYC more than 10 years and I have never had a smoother move before! This system is genius as the mobile storage units save time by dropping right curbside! The foreman and two other movers arrived on time and were in communication the whole time. They worked efficiently and had masks on the whole time (which could not have been the least bit easy). We moved from UWS to Hoboken and the travel time is exactly what you'd expect, there was zero wasting time or delaying. Overall, New York Mobile Storage was terrific. We stored many of our items for months before actually moving, and they handled both the storage and the move for a reasonable price. In the course of a move up four flights of stairs, and months of storage, just one wine glass turned up broken, and I'm considering that par for the course. Movers arrived on time and were courteous and worked super duper hard. My only small nitpick is that while Stacey is great at coordinating and explaining New York Mobile Storage's policies and offers, I felt like the company was a bit understaffed -- during regular business hours of the day she seemed to be the only person who was around to pick up a phone, and while she returned calls sometimes it took a bit of time. While in performance NYMS comes across as pros, this sort of thing felt like more amateur, start-up behavior. So just be prepared for this when you hire them, and everything should turn out just fine. read more

In preparation to renovate our apartment, put it on the market and move to Cleveland, we had unique needs for local moving into storage then long distance moving. Stacy is so pleasant and easy to deal with in the office, Mike is the expert estimator of your needs and Vlad can pack a storage pod like a puzzle master. We needed to move everything off our first floor for renovations and keep much of it in storage for open houses. They packed up 2 units for us and stored them. Then when it was time to close on our apartment they came back and packed up the rest. We needed them to store it for another week until we could close on our house in Cleveland. My wife and I had to move our stuff into storage for a few weeks, while waiting for our next apartment to open up. This company uses a really smart system that's especially perfect for people in our situation. A team of movers got everything we owned into 3 big wooden crates, then stored them for us. On our move in day, they delivered them to our door and unpacked them for us too. And they did all this without blocking traffic on our narrow street - parking the truck up the block and moving the crates to our sidewalk by forklift. It was my first hiring movers, so it sure felt like a luxury. Stacy, who arranged it all on the phone, is an incredibly friendly, helpful person. We have no complaints. read more

I had to move out of my one-bedroom apartment in Queens, but didn't have a new place lined up yet. I was looking to store my things for at least a month, and getting a moving company to deliver everything to a separate storage facility and then a month later come and move everything back out would have been pretty expensive. I called Stacy and she was super helpful with scheduling my movers and deciding how many storage containers I would probably need (my 1-bedroom needed 2 containers). The three movers arrived within the time window given to me. They were very nice, and treated my belongings carefully. I rented new packing blankets, and they wrapped up my more delicate furniture very securely. They worked quickly, too, so I wasn't worried that I would have to pay for extra time. Each move with the movers cost $350, which was very very reasonable, considering how much other companies charge. The storage units were also very reasonable- under $100/month for each one. I would absolutely recommend NY Mobile Storage! They made a very stressful time much easier! read more

Due to Superstorm Sandy, we had to store our furniture and personal belongings from our first floor that did not get damaged. We had not heard of NY Mobile Storage but our contractor saw the pods in the neighborhood a couple of weeks after the storm. I called that day and Stacey could not have been more helpful. We scheduled the pick up, along with 3 movers to help us load the pods, and now almost a year later we just got our belongings back. If I had any questions, I felt comfortable calling and speaking to Stacey who made sure everything ran as smoothly as it did. It was a huge relief knowing that our things were going to be safe and secure while we dealt with renovating our home. None of our items were damaged as everything was very well protected. The men who came to load and unload the units were very professional and helpful, and sympathetic to our situation. We paid for 3 units that went back to the storage facility as well as for 1 that we kept in our driveway for things that we would need. Overall the monthly fee was extremely reasonable. I hope to never have to store our things again, particularly due to another natural disaster :) but I would definitely use NY Mobile Storage again and would highly recommend them. I was behind in my payments because of an illness. The last call I received was to tell me the balance. When I called to tell them I was getting a refund and would pay the bill in full, I was told the unit had been sold. I have lost many things that had belonged to my parents and from my childhood. Some things to know: This isn't a space to use for coming and going. Your items are stored in a cube brought to you to load (or to have loaded by the NY Mobile Storage movers--who in my experience did a good job). Once your unit is driven to the storage facility you cannot access it easily and only then during specific daytime hours by arrangement. It seems like a better option for storing things that you don't need access to for awhile or for temporary storage when there's a gap between moving out and moving into an apartment. The price to load the unit was quoted when we called. I guess we should have asked what it cost to have the unit brought to where we would be unloading it two months later. We assumed move in cost the same as move out and were surprised to learn it was more expensive because it was a "busy season". Keep these things in mind and make sure it's right for you. I actually found NY Mobile Storage on yelp and after reading the reviews, and then later speaking to Stacey, decided they were the company I wanted to use to help with this project. The team was prompt and extremely professional when they came to pack up my pods (they also helped me pack some of my delicate china). They did such a fantastic job that I decided to also use them as the movers when we were ready to move into our new apartment. They were once again prompt, professional and hardworking. They met all of my needs, including accommodating me with my various needs and date changes.
