This is my favorite steakhouse in Waikiki. The steak is packed full of flavor with a nice crust and the extra offering from the kitchen are always delicious. read more

Well, in a town that has plenty of good and great dining options, i vote 'pass'. nothing particularly wrong with the experience...just somewhat meh. I was tempted to try the Mahi Mahi b/c I had had beef earlier in the day -- but I bucked up and went steak @ the steak restaurant. Should've gone Mahi -- which is rather telling. The fillet was a nice cut but too firm and dry. On the positive, service, caesar, and sides were good. Not worth $520 for five of us though. (only 1 bottle wine in that $500 too) read more

My first experience at a Mina restaurant.. and probably one of the best meals I've ever enjoyed. Was with a group of 11 people from Young's market in California. I was a guest as my wife works for company. The Server and support staff was excellent. Pleasant and professional. All I tried as far as food was nothing short of excellent. Tuna tartare.. A+ as well as Richards? Table side service was awesome. King crab was delicious.. oysters were perfect. Had heard a rumor that the lobster pot pie was incredible. It was simply delicious. My rib eye was cooked perfectly. Trio of mashed pot were really amazing and a must for potato lovers. As well the string beans.. the mushrooms were perfect accompaniments to a great meal. A trio of house made ice cream topped it all off. The sesame ice cream was fabulous.. As a fellow restaurant GM I sought out the manager Katherine I think. To thank her for a wonderful and truly professional time. So many times we hear the bad about our places. But I thought she should know. As well as the Chef.. cooks and bus staff. Great job. One of the best meals I've ever had in my 30 years in the restaurant business. Cheers and thank you read more

Perfect meal for our last night in Oahu. Everything was cooked beautifully and worth every penny. The live music created the perfect ambiance as well. Excellent service and experience at Stripsteak! read more

2nd visit: went all out and ordered a lot of food for a party of 4. Everything tasted pretty good. Ambiance was nice, like you are in Vegas, which can be nice sometimes for a change. Service was quite good! Reason for 3 stars instead of 4 was the bill. This place is pricey! Our party of 4's tab came out to almost $700 with tip! I think the value of our meal was around $480. Therefore I had to give Stripsteak 3 instead of 4 stars. So after two visits: food pretty good, service very good, ambiance cool, price/value not the best. I'd come back for the ambiance and vibe but for a straight steak night, I'd choose another place. read more

Too much truffle oil on everything, so gross. The hostess was as dumb as Mr. Potato Head! The food is decent, nothing special. Its of the same quality as BLT. Over Priced and underwhelming. $350.00 for 2 people for mediocre food doesnt want me to give this place a 2nd chance. The waitstaff is too overwhelming. Too many people coming up to the table to ask if everything tasted okay. It got to the point were it was too much and we couldn't enjoy the meal and conversation. Steak was rubbery, chewy, and tastes as if it was frozen then thawed. That gamey thawed meat taste. Just did not taste right. Ruth's Chris has the best steak in town. read more

My friends and I wanted to try out some of special menu items for the international marketplaces restaurant week. We walked around to see what was available before deciding. After putting in some great thought into our decision, we decided on stripsteak! I was excited to taste their restaurant week menu! We walked up to the counter to check in and was told there was a 30-45 minute wait. The worker took down my name and number. We figured that we would sit at the bar until we got a table. Upon walking in, we saw that there were many empty seats. Hmmmm? We walked to the bar but noticed it was kinda full so we went outside and was going to just wait for the phone call. While waiting, we decided to check out Yauatcha and see what they had. We decided to order a few dishes and some drinks while we waited for stripsteak to call. End result, we ended up ordering many dishes and a call never came! After leaving Yauatcha, I stopped by and asked what happened. The worker said they tried to look for us but couldn't find us. Isn't that why you asked for a phone number, too call in case you didn't see us?? I was disgruntled to say the least! read more

Stripsteak - Steakhouses Near Me - Honolulu, Hawaii

I honestly don't see what the hype is with this place. It was an ok experience but way overpriced meals. We will not be returning here.

I am reviewing this as a tourist from Chicago, so this is is a review of Hawaii's version of a steakhouse - (much different from a Chicago steakhouse). The service was impeccable -Nick, our server was on the ball and remembered every detail of our order. Our table settings were prepared perfectly throughout the meal. Ken's sushi roll was perfect for a lighter appetizer. The Wedge salad was lighter as well, and also prepared perfectly with thick cuts of bacon, but not too heavy. The 8 oz. filet was delicious. It is prepared very delicately and lighter than other cuts of meat I've had. The lobster popover had a great table side presentation, and was creamy but not as heavy as I expected. The head bartender was knowledgeable and can concoct any drink request, even if it isn't on the menu. This place is good if you're a tourist and looking for a trendier, city-vibe restaurant with standardly "good" food. read more

We didn't have a dinner reservation but we were seated within 15 minutes. That was the only positive thing about our evening. Service was below satisfactory. Drinks were slow in coming out. The soda was flat and the waitress got our drinks mixed up. We ordered the Ohana Menu. The first course came out in a timely manner. However our waitress never stopped in to check on us. We had tried to get her attention multiple times, but she would walk right passed us. She finally came around to see if we needed refills on drinks. It took 15 minutes to get a refill of soda. After our first course was cleared, we waited about half an hour before our second course came. We had to flag down to another waitress to check on the status of our food because our waitress was MIA. Our steaks finally came out, but we had already lost our appetite from waiting. We complained to the manager and she had offered to give us a free dessert. But the Ohana Menu comes with dessert so it didn't make sense to compensate us with another dessert. We didn't even have the appetite to our steak anymore, so two desserts would not be eaten either. Our waitress finally came to see us to apologize. She claimed that there was a fire in the kitchen which caused our food to come out later than normal. I would be more understanding if we were notified beforehand that the kitchen was slower than normal. If she knew the situation, why not apologize to the tables and thank them for waiting? We ended up asking for our steak to be packed up and asked for the bill. We didn't get our course dessert, or the free dessert we were promised. It was a very disappointing evening. read more

we visit waikiki every year on our business trips to asia. last year, our group had a nice dinner at strip steak. excellent setting with a cordial service.   last week, our group returned for dinner, but this time we were very disappointed. Even the food could not save what was now a uncaring , impersonal atmosphere, & VERY POOR SERVICE. It's too bad they have lost the aloha spirit. read more

Hubby and I Went for appetizers and a drink to celebrate our anniversary...thinking there was no chance of getting a table at 7 on a Saturday night but luckily the hostess sat us right away. We got the lobster tacos to start and the ribeye along with the catch of the day. Fish was cooked perfectly as was the steak. Our side of Lobster mash was a bit lukewarm but as soon as I told the wait staff they immediately brought out a new hot batch. We also ordered Tokyo tots and they were Amazing....I know..... Paying anything over $5 for tater tots seems ludicrous but they were awesome and if you are eating here, chances are the occasion warrants splurging a little. read more

We were vacationing in Honolulu and I decided to treat my buddy here for his 30th birthday. It's located on the third floor on the International Marketplace so you can shop before to work up an appetite. The hostess and our waitress were very nice. Customer service was superb. My buddy and I ordered the ribeye, my girlfriend got the filet mignon, and my buddy's wife got the scallops. We also order mashed potatoes, brocollini, truffle mac and cheese, and the tokyo tots. The steaks were cooked to perfection and the sides were great. Money well spent. Will definitely consider coming back here next time I'm on the island again. read more

Dined at Stripsteak last night for our 1 year wedding anniversary and was not impressed at all by anything there. We called several days in advance and made a reservation for 8pm, they asked if we would like inside or outside seating and we specified inside. Upon arrival, we were told there was a wait and they would call our name when our table was ready. 25 minutes later they seat us but our table is outside, right next to the entrance (there was a man in line literally leaning onto the back of our seat, facing us. It felt like he was part of our party.) and directly under a speaker playing loud music you would expect to hear at Forever 21. I asked my husband to go see if we could be moved to a table inside, as per our reservation request, but he came back from the hostess stand and said they told him it would likely be 45 minutes to an hour! What is the point of asking guests which area they would like to sit in if you don't honor it?! And what's even the point of making a reservation if you aren't able to sit them till half an hour to an hour later? This wasn't a call ahead put your name on the list Chili's style thing either, this was a reservation. I decided to scope out the rest of the restaurant to see if it was quiet anywhere inside, but it all seemed to be filled with this loud, obnoxious party music. (I'd also like to note that I saw at least 5 open tables) I guess I don't get the vibe they are going for and am too set in my ways about what a nice steakhouse should be like. Anyway, I had a pep talk with myself in their dimly lit bathroom and vowed to enjoy this evening despite the terrible ambience. My husband and I ordered drinks and after 20 minutes, they finally arrived. I had the Descendants cocktail which was great.. kiawe smoked whiskey goodness over a big spherical ice cube. Yum. We shared the seafood tower and he had the filet mignon with a wasabi horseradish crust. Seafood tower was fine, albeit overpriced for the portions but we knew that going into this. The filet, on the other hand, was bland and overcooked. You'd think with a wasabi horseradish crust there would be a bold flavor but nope... It was barely noticeable at all. We sat with empty cocktail glasses for quite some time and couldn't seem to get our servers attention till our food had been delivered. We ordered more drinks and waited for a ridiculously long time again. The long wait times and lack of consistent service disincentivized us from ordering anything else the rest of the evening. The service was casual and slow, typical of Hawaiian restaurants in general (oh calm down, I work in a restaurant in Hawaii) , but unacceptable for a fine dining establishment with fine dining prices. The nicest person we encountered was the bus boy who came by frequently to offer us his recommendation on sauces he thought went well with our dishes and who even snuck some extra oysters for us after we mentioned it was our first oyster experience! He and that kiawe smoked cocktail are why there are 2 stars up there and not 1. Luckily we had a gift card and didn't have to feel the remorse of wasting so much money on an overall lackluster experience. We came completely prepared to go all out and treat ourselves but couldn't justify it after the way our evening started. There are far better steakhouse on Oahu that beat Stripsteak in quality, ambience, taste and service. It's safe to say we won't be returning. read more

Best. Steakhouse. In Hawaii? Well, It's at the top of my list for now as my search for the best steakhouse is getting thin. I've tried a handful of them and Stripsteak coming out on top with Ruth's Coming in 2nd. As The service was excellent, the ambience was lit, the staff friendly, and the duck fat fries with truffle sauce they served instead of the common bread n butter was a Nice touch. Even better I must say. I think that was my favorite dish besides the prime ribeye steak I had as the steak cooked medium (believe it or not I always do medium well or more). Steak was very flavorful, succulent with the edges burnt to the right degree. Like I said I don't do less than medium because the last time I tried that was at Hys steakhouse and I needed to chew my steak for awhile to finish. But this time, I thought my steak was cooked really well. And I chanced it and it was great. read more

I give this place zero stars! First we had a group of 50 people and initially we were supposed to be seated outside but due to weather we were forced indoors. The manager informed us that they could not accommodate our party because they had a party of 6 paying $150 dollars each person. Then he started yelling at our event planner. Sayonara Stripsteak if this is how you and your management are going to treat customers then you'll never receive our business again. Thank you Roy's for taking care of our rather large group on such short notice! The food was excellent! read more

The waiter took forever and it took a long time just to get a refill on water!!! We ordered the Tomahawk steak medium well it was partially well done and rare. The waiter retuned the rare portion of it to the kitchen only to return it totally charred. The sides came out lukewarm with no seasoning. The mashed potatoes were runny. The manager didnt seem to see a problem with the situation even though he visually saw the issue. The impression we got was they felt we wanted something for free, as opposed to preparing a new one and doing it right. They tried to appease us by bringing some desserts. Then they sat there to watch us eat it. We didn't want there to be any confusion about the ability to pay for what we didn't get, simply good custmer service. We were so ready to go!!! Who spends almost $200 on charred steak, awful sides, and poor customer service? OBTW we aren't tourist. We live here. Outback cost much less, but much better custmer service. Will not return. read more

Hats off to the Chef. Food was amazing. We had the filet and fresh catch (Ahi). My recommendation would be to forego the sides. Don't get me wrong they are so good so if you have to go with one pick the green beans but sides not necessary. Fresh catch or snapper is a must. Cooked to perfection. Nick, Don and Will (behind the bar) are also amazing hosts! The only downside is the location.... which could also be a bonus because If they had oceanfront views the prices would be double!!! read more

My family reserved dinner at 5:45 pm on a Sunday. The atmosphere is trendy, and contrary to some earlier reviews, the wait staff was friendly. The manager was also very accommodating. It sounds like there were a few bumps in the road when they first opened, but I can honestly say that the staff and manager seemed seasoned and prepared. Our server in particular was very familiar with the menu, and always had an answer to any question. The appetizers were good. The duck fat fries were crispy, and the sushi rolls were good. None of the appetizers were anything unique, but they were presented well, and what we expected for the price. The main course was beyond our expectation, which was pretty high because the prices were definitely above average for a nice restaurant. My family ordered the A5 Wagyu. It was cooked perfectly, and worth the price. It was melt in your mouth good. The lobster mashed potatoes were really good as well. I sort of wish they cut the lobster into smaller pieces though, so you can enjoy the flavor with every bite. We ended the night with different desserts. None of them were too overpowering that it would have made the meal not worth it. As a side note, the bartenders that evening were good as well. The drinks were mixed right and shots were in good portions. Overall we had a great experience. We'll definitely be visiting again. read more

First and, quite possibly, the last time I ever come here. The only thing that just might (and I say that with hesitation) make me come back is the Instant Bacon which tasted absolutely fabulous. Everything else was just so-so, especially for the price. The evening started off fine with a great server who helped us decide what to order. Went with the Instant Bacon, Heirloom Tomatoes salad, Kona Lobster Pot Pie, and Ribeye Steak with the Spicy Fried Rice and Mac & Cheese for sides. Though the Instant Bacon was amazing, as mentioned earlier, everything else wasn't anything worth calling home about. The $95 pot pie was kind of bland. There was a decent portion of lobster, I do have to give them that. As for the steak, I've had waaaay better at Assagio's for half the price. The fried rice was mushy and subpar. I was extremely bummed because I couldn't wait to try their truffle oil Mac & Cheese... and it never came! By the time our server came by to check on us, we were already pretty stuffed with all the other food we'd eaten so we told him to just forget the Mac & Cheese. He proceeded to apologize and said he would have the kitchen make it anyway, bring it out so we could try it, and then pack the rest to go once we were done without charging us for it since it was their mistake. What great customer service recovery right? WRONG!!! Mind you, I had also asked for a cup of ice at this time. The server said he would be sure to get that to me. Mac & Cheese never came. Ice for my water never came (I did end up asking a second time for that and someone else finally brought it). Oh, but the bill sure came! And yes, the Mac & Cheese was definitely charged on there. Epic fail! Over-promised and under-delivered! Once the bill was dropped off, we had to wait about 20 minutes just to get any worker's attention to fix our bill. We finally left the restaurant with the charge for the Mac & Cheese being taken off, but none to take home to try as promised. Total bummer for a pretty pricey dinner. My recommendation... try the Instant Bacon because it is really good, but save your money and go somewhere else otherwise! Not worth it! read more

Hubby and I went on a whim and had a great dinner. It's always so weird to see people in casual clothing, but the service was excellent. Hubby had the ribeye and I had the salmon. We shared the mashed potatoes and spinach. The portions were a great size. Had more than enough to take home, but we were flying out the next morning. I also ordered the lobster tacos and a cocktail. Overall, the food was great. My cocktail was a little different....wouldn't order it again, but that's no fault of the restaurant. read more

Ordered the New York steak and it was very good. Don't order the bake potato as a side. It's just a giant potato with no flavor. It comes with bacon bits but it's just not appetizing. I love the squash and shishito peppers. Service was excellent. Everyone is very friendly and it didn't take long for order to come out. I tried most of the desserts. All very sweet. The blueberry is my favorite. Just the right balance of sweetness and tarts. read more

The ambiance was great. Very well designed, and the manager who came by to see how things were going was very friendly. Other than that the service was sparse and not much to brag about. I was well into the entree before some one came by to see if my date or I wanted a drink. It seemed like once we ordered, the service stopped. The tomahawk steak was tough and did not seem like a prime steak. Honestly, pretty tough. Definitely not the best I've had. Much better value at other steakhouses on Oahu. I'm not a HUGE Ruth Chris fan, but it seems more worth the money. Disappointing for a $500 dinner for two. read more

I'm so upset at this restaurant. My friend and I sat at the bar and ordered a drink and some food. Everyone should check their bill before leaving this restaurant. Service was 5 stars, food was zero stars. Waiters were very attentive and fast but the food was really terrible and way overpriced. This restaurant was bz because it was New Year's Eve. I had set a reservation for 7:15 when I checked in with the receptionist who had NO PERSONALITY nor caring. I was seated after my reservation time. This was frustrating. Also, I wasn't aware that they had only limited options for their dinner. Then again, I could relate with this 'cause it was New Year's Eve. I don't recall any of their employees smiling until they gave me the check. Steaks were great, ambiance is wonderful but $17 for a glass of Merlot is RIDICULOUS especially when the support staff didn't make me feel welcome. What happened to the ALOHA spirit especially when i paid $125 pp? Owner needs to train his employees to be more customer service oriented. I will never come back!!!!!!! read more

A couple months late, but had to leave this review based on the exceptional, patience and attentive staff we encountered. From beginning to the very end, the hostess were very pleasant and flexible with my family of 5 ( 1 baby, a toddler and a child!). They always went out of their way to make sure the evening was PERFECT. The establishment was very busy, and they allowed us to have a spot and table that would allow our family and the rest of their patrons to enjoy( Our toddler is definitely enjoying his troublesome 2/3s , while our infant was a bit cranky). We were going to give in and take our food to go, but Rob and Lauren insisted we stay, as they would do almost anything to make sure everyone enjoyed their time around. While managing every other guest, they managed to bring a bottle of milk for our baby girl to be put asleep around the corner. They offered to help hold the baby as well (of course we declined as tempting as it had sounded). Rob, Lauren, the wine connoisseur, and each food server that explained the variety of ingredients in each food masterpiece was impeccable! The wine pairings for our prix selected course for two was out of this world. I've had many before but this is actually one of the very few times the selections actually made and TASTED RIGHT. Perfect balance of every flavor where ones taste buds can drown in...I/We could go on and on and on about how magical this place was due to the staff which entertained us and the ambiance in which this fine establishment was located in. I would recommend this place to everyone. They won our hearts and souls for sure. We will be supporting this establishment in the near future with family and friends alike. The ambience was inviting but unfortunately the food itself was not worth the money spent and wasted meal while in Honolulu. We ordered the prime ribeye med-rare and twice the steak came out medium after the second try we didn't want to ask the manager to recook our $66 steak a third time. We also ordered the Mahi-mahi it was also over cooked and somewhat fishy, overall I would not come back here or try any other chains to Michael Mina's name. Awful!! No priority to guests with reservations on seating. I actually have never been treated this way ever! Hostess was extremely rude and actually told me that I had one option for an outside table after she just sat another party if 3 w/no reservation in a great spot. She actually told me to sit down and wait 5 minutes for the "only table I can get" outside. Then when we were seated I mentioned to the gentleman seating us this table was in a high traffic zone and I requested not to sit there. He had no response! . We left after appetizers which we have NEVER done. A restaurant of this caliber should be much more understanding of guests instead of its this or nothing! I actually walked out crying and im not a crier! This was such an upsetting experience on our last night in Hawaii. Just wanted a nice dinner for our family on the last night. I frequent Mastro's, Fleming's, morons and have Never been treated this way. Not even at a Fast food restaurant was I ever treated this way! Save your time and $ from going here. read more

Our experience at Stripsteak Waikiki was amazing. We were greeted by the hostess and shown to our seat immediately. The sommelier stopped by and welcomed us, which was unexpected and a nice touch. Our server, Sean, then came by with dinner menus and explained the concept as well as some of his favorite dishes. He did a great job of giving us adequate information without giving us too many overwhelming details. We began with cocktails; the Ring of Fire was delicious and unique, and the Chameleon was a wonderfully crafted beverage with a fun tableside surprise! Our small plates included the bigeye tuna crudo (the perfect spicy dish to help open up the palate), hand-cut steak tartare (served with warm pita bread), and the instant bacon. The instant bacon was probably my favorite; super flavorful with an impressive textural difference provided by the tempura oyster. Our entrees included the washugyu flat iron steak cooked to a perfect medium rare with a broiled half lobster. We tried a variety of accompaniments, the bone marrow butter being my favorite. Sean mentioned that the green beans would be life changing, and they were. The truffle mac and cheese was rich and decadent, and the hamakua mushrooms were much larger than expected and went perfectly with the steak. The sommelier was able to pair a delicious glass of Ken Wright pinot noir that was flavorful enough for the steak I was eating but light enough for the lobster that went with it. Finally, we finished with the pineapple foster that was prepared on a tableside skillet! It was so much fun to watch and even more fun to eat. ;) I took the guava cream puffs home and enjoyed them as the perfect midnight snack. Yum. This is definitely one of the best dinners I've ever had, from the food and beverage to the service itself. Thank you all so much for creating such a memorable and wonderful experience for us! read more

This was our very first visit here to celebrate my wife's birthday. It's located at the beautiful International Market Place in Waikiki. Parking is plentiful & your first 2 hours are free with validation. We were greeted at the door & promptly taken to our table. I was a bit disappointed with our table as it was a rather small plain white table considering the size of the plates being used (after they took our order they placed another similar table to accommodate our meal). Our waiter Brian asked if we dined here before & since we did not he gave us a bit of history regarding the restaurant. We opted for the King Kamehameha price fixed menu which consisted of seven distinct entrees; Makimono Rolls, Michael's Ahi Tuna Poke, King Crab & Lobster Tacos, Roasted Beets, Instant Bacon, Ribeye & Miso Black Cod, & for dessert Devil's Food Cake & Tropical Fruit. Tokyo tots, mac & cheese, & sautéed spinach were also served as accompaniments. The entrees are served Ohana style which means it's to be shared but we both had to order the same menu at $125 each. We thoroughly enjoyed each dish and left there more than satisfied! The service was great, the staff friendly & attentive (being a messy eater they would come around and wipe up my mess to keep the white table clean!). I left out one star due to the fact they did not acknowledge my wife's birthday which I had mentioned as a special request when I made the reservation. All in all it was a great experience and would more than likely return to celebrate another special occasion. read more
