I have ordered to go both times that I've been here (I'm a sales rep) and the staff has been super friendly and helpful! The food has always been ready on time, I am greeted by a friendly, hostess, or the bartender. They've even offered to help carry the food out to my car! Both times I've ordered the crabcakes and they are a real hit, delicious!! Everybody raves about them! Next time I'm in Lewes, I'm going to dine in for sure. Went here last night while driving through Delaware. It was fantastic. It was excellent and everything was cooked to perfection. I had broiled scallops with squash, pea-pods and mashed potatoes. A mid-upper scale somewhat local hang-out with great food and drinks. Friendly service where the waitresses ad bartenders clearly knew the locals. Some original martinis and very tasty food for solid prices. Parmesan crusted lobster tails were good but the standout was the special, not listed on the regular menu. Basically a Cioppino, mixed seafood, mostly shellfish, in a tomato broth. We opted to have it NOT served over rice and it was worth it. Use the crusty bread at the table to sop up the broth....yum! Plenty of food in that dish and the broth, almost a warm spicy gazpacho style but thinner. Or sort of like a heavier Maryland style crab soup. Fantastic! Very disappointed. I am not a big eater....I ordered Fra Diavolo for $31 and was starving after eating it! There was hardly any seafood in it - just linguini. It would barely satisfy a 3 year kid. Also my friend ordered a scallop dinner... it came with 3 dried out scallops with some rice and about 1/4 cup of mango chutney. The third person ordered the Nor'easter DINNER which was an appetizer size - one broken up scallop, less than 1/4 pound dried out crab cake, 2 shrimp and some mashed potatoes! I wish I didn't live so far away so I could come back to Striper Bites more often! While in town visiting a friend we spent the morning walking on the beach and then stopped by Striper Bites for a drink and some food. They have a nice small outdoor area which I was hoping we could sit in but with our group size they sat us inside next to a big window. The restaurant is nautical/fishing themed which I loved, lots of light colors and raw wood. The restaurant wasn't too busy so we got seated right away and service was great. I got the Milton Mule to drink which was absolutely delicious, so refreshing! It was hard not to drink it too quickly :) For lunch my boyfriend and I split Nana's Fried Po'Boy which was piled high with fried clam strips and came with lettuce tomato and topped with lemon and tarragon aioli. Absolutely amazing! We split it but it was so good that I could have eaten the whole thing! I plan to visit my friend again this summer and will definitely ask to come back here! read more

This is my seafood go to when in Lewes! I came here first in summer 2016 and made sure to make time to come back this summer! The restaurant is cute and cozy, giving it a homey feel. The staff are very nice, always greeting us with a smile and asking how everything was. The crab bisque here IS. THE. BEST. Do yourself a favor and order it. Overall a great little restaurant in Lewes. On my last visit I had a cup of crab soup and the blackened tuna pasta cooked medium rare and it did not disappoint! I was eating with a party of 9 and everyone cleaned their plate...not something we see often. This was our second time here and was very good! I wanted to leave this review not because of the food, but because of the people. We were eating outside with our little dog and it started torrentially down pouring out of nowhere right before we got our meals. I went inside and my boyfriend stood outside along the wall with the dog in the rain. I was planning on telling our server to just box up the food to go but he felt bad for us so we were allowed to quick sit right by the entrance with my pup to quick eat and go. (As a side note- we were actually referred to go here by the woman at the pet store down the street when looking for a pet friendly restaurant and she was absolutely right!!) It was really good not much filler, mostly lobster. I order the fish tacos , they were frozen fish sticks for the kids menu and a little coleslaw, about 1/2 tsp, little sour cream. Awful and the chips that came with it were stale. My husband had wings and shrimp . The wings and shrimp were over done . Nasty My son had the kids pizza, first it was a frozen pizza and second they over cooked it. Again nasty ! The prices were high considering the food quality . We won't be back. read more

Their claim to fame is that Matthew McConaughey ate here once. Really? That's the best you can do? Like the star of such films as Dazed and Confused and Surfer Dude, Striper Bites is relaxed, easy-going, and could try harder. Like, a lot harder. The food is not good enough to justify the price- most of the fish tasted like it was flown in rather than caught locally, or recently, or even on this side of the globe. I didn't come to the beach to eat Chilean Sea Bass! There was some local rockfish on the menu, at least. Everything was way over salted, and service was pretty slow and inattentive. The cocktails were a bright spot- very well mixed and nicely presented. Even throwing in the usual caveats of reviewing a touristy beach restaurant, it's just not good enough to justify the price. I'd come here to sit at the bar and have some snacks, but I wouldn't eat dinner here again. read more

We had a delicious meal there-lobster mac and cheese that was velvety and rich, perfectly grilled salmon, the best bruscetta that I have ever tasted but we will NOT ever eat there again. We had a table outside and when we arrived, only two tables were taken. At the time, i did not notice there was a very large dog underneath one of the tables. I learned a few minutes later when he barked like a maniac at each passing dog. Then another dog came in, and they sat down. Two minutes later, a few kids came out the restaurant and politely asked if they could pet the dog. The owner of the dog said no-her dog wasn't feiendly. Excuse me? I was already horrified that we were having to share an expensive meal ($100 including tip for 3 people), but WTF? Why would you bring a dog to a restaurant that wasn't friendly? Sure enough the dog growled at every single person who walked by and several adults seemed very frightened. Last, a couple sat at the table next to us with what was clearly a young black lab. The dog immediately started whining and barking. I tried to ignore it but she did it all during our meal even though at one point, i suggested they walk the dog in the parking lit so we could eat in peace. The three dogs completely hijacked our expensive dinner. I asked to speak to the manager and suggested they have a sign at the outdoor tables saying dogs welcome. That way, people like me would not choose to sit outside and have a misbehaving dog ruin dinner. The manager rolled his eyes at my suggestion. That was the deciding point. Next time i will take my $100 and go to Agave, the Buttery of Half Full. At no point did the manager inquire whether myself and two teens were allergic to dogs. What would hAve happened if one of us was allergic? It was a delicious meal but the way the manager treated me and the inability of the restaurant to provide a nice atmosphere for an expensive meal means we will never go there again and i will be posting about my experience there on social media so people understand that the dogs are treated better than paying customers. read more

I was introduced to this charming restaurant a few years ago, and make it a point to return everytime I'm in the area, which is once a year for family vacation in Rehobeth Beach. The food has always been amazing, especially the salmon, the amaretto crusted chicken and crab cakes. Their wine cellar is pretty extensive, and you can look into it through the glass windows under your feet. The ambiance is great, and the restaurant is full of charm and history. My wife and I came here for dinner on a summer Saturday evening. The wait was 20 minutes, so we went to the bar and ordered a beer and wine. The bar area is small, but we lucked out and grabbed a couple stools when a couple left. By the time we'd almost finished our drinks, the hostess came to escort us to our table. We ordered two more drinks, and the fried green tomato appetizer. When the waitress returned with our drinks, she also dropped off a basket of warm bread and small plates, telling us there was olive oil and salt and pepper in the tray on the table. Unfortunately, the bread had a sweet flavor that didn't go well with olive oil. It would have gone better with soft butter. The fried green tomatoes were also a little on the sweet side, but that worked well there. For entrees my wife had the lobster roll, and I had the blackened tuna penne pasta ("a local favorite" says the menu). I asked for the tuna steak medium rare, but it was closer to medium. There was a very sweet onion puree on top (again with the sweet) and a bland cream sauce over the pasta. I had to liberally salt and pepper the dish to get any flavor. The lobster roll was very good. Lots of lightly dressed meat (the menu mentioned dijon, but we didn't taste it), and the roll light toasted and lightly buttered. Plain is good. The service was very good. My only complaint would be the food was bland to sweet. read more

Our annual rainy-day trek to Lewes always ends with a trip to one of the many little places that dot this quaint, quiet little town. Having tested out the Half Full and Kindle waters in previous years, our next step was to stop by Striper Bites for lunch. Let me just preface this by saying this is the type of bar I could get lost in one too many pints of 60 MIn while chatting with the bartender while it pours outside. Cozy, nautical themed ambiance, with a menu featuring comfort foods like burgers and fish tacos. I enjoyed the fish tacos which were gone as quickly as they arrived on our table. The fried fish was delicious and flaky, and didn't need much fixin' up to be enjoyed. Service was great. The blond gentleman behind the bar was super friendly and chatted with us while we made up our mind. Definitely wish I had more time to enjoy this bar, makes me look forward to our next trip down to Lewes. read more
