The cafe is attached to a very nice bakery and boutique which is situated just south of downtown Lewes. The only downer: The parking lot is very rough. It is all gravel with a lot of stormwater ponding and it wax very muddy. Very limited spaces too. It was hard fining a parking space but it is worth the aggravation to experience this place.

We went to Striper Bites as a party of 9 last night. 6 adults, an 18 year old and 2 kids. We ordered a good variety from the menu; fish tacos, rockfish, scallops, mahi, salmon,etc... the food was good but wasn't quit delicious. The Mahi was a bit dry, the scallops were much smaller then the ones we've received from Gilligans and a few other local rest.s 3 1/2 stars is a perfect rating for this place. The service is good, not great. They are very attentive but a few people in my party thought they could have been friendlier. I thought they were friendly enough but not exactly the warmest service. Getting a table for 9 people at 6pm was no problem at all and our appetizers and meals came in good time. We were not there very long as another reviewer has stated (they were there the same night apparrantly! All in all, we probably won't go back but were generally happy with our meals. read more

Wether it's for drinks, lunch,or dinner there's something for everyone at this busy resort area Bistro. For the casual "flip flop" atmosphere one can still have a wonderful dinner that will not disappoint. The attentive and personable staff of local talent work together to make for a pleasant escape from the stresses of the work week. In addition the their service; their knowledge of what's happening in the area, from nightlife or shopping to fishing is most helpful to visitors to the area. My personal favorite is the Lewes Rockfish but I have never been disappointed by the ever changing specials. New to Lewes area and are trying all the restaurants. On our list was Striper Bites. Very busy in Lewes for a Friday evening in late October but we did not have to wait and the service was excellent. Very nice menu and good drink list. Everything went wonderfully and we never felt rushed as on some other places in Lewes. The wife and I shared a salad and the fish tacos. Both dishes were very good - with fresh ingredients and crafted both carefully and skillfully. I had a lemon drop martini but wasn't trying to be carried out of here so I switched to a mojito. Both drinks were great! My fiancé had a fat tire beer and enjoyed it! My other half got the lobster roll which we both believe you can never go wrong with. Striper Bites is one of our favorite restaurants in Lewes and we usually go at 3 - 4 times per month. I have never been disappointed with any meal that I have had, whether it was lunch or dinner. My new favorite is the Lobster Roll. The staff is always pleasant and efficient. It is a really fun place to go either in the off season or the main season. read more

The menace for the penne and the grits - very buttery. Very good. We each had an omelette that we ordered with crab, shrimp and veggies and no cheese. They both came with cheese unfortunately. The server offered to have the chef make new ones but I didn't want to waste all the crab meat and shrimp. So I just ate the innards of mine and my partner ate theirs. The innards were delicious and there was a lot of crab meat and shrimp in the omelette. The weak point was the chicken and waffles. The waffle was fine but the chicken was dried out. Really too bad - everything else was delicious and well prepared. Fresh fruit and small pastries/yogurt parfait for dessert. The fruit was very juicy and fresh (I had cantaloupe and pineapple). Note that they charge separately for coffee, tea and soft drinks. ($4 for coffee on top of a $50 buffet). It was really good coffee. One suggestion I would make is to add a veggie entree - like a tray of green beans in olive oil/garlic or something else simple. What surprised me most was that, despite all of these issues, a manager never once stopped by our table to check on us or acknowledge that things weren't going well. A simple visit to apologize, explain the delays, or offer assistance would have gone a long way. I understand holiday weekends are challenging for restaurants, but this felt like more than just a busy night. It seemed like there was something off with the system or process being used to manage tables, food timing, and communication between the kitchen and front-of-house staff. The good news is that this feels fixable. Better coordination, communication, and support for the serving staff--and more visible involvement from management when problems arise--would likely prevent many of the issues we experienced and make for a much better customer experience.

Overall, the atmosphere here is incredible and is easily the restaurant's biggest draw. Sitting outside, overlooking the boardwalk while watching the sun set over the ocean, is hard to beat. She was incredibly accommodating, attentive, friendly, and genuinely made us feel welcome the entire night. Service like hers is hard to find and absolutely deserves recognition. We started with the deviled eggs appetizer, which were the perfect bite -- flavorful, fresh, and a great way to kick off dinner. I had the salmon entrée and it was super tasty and cooked perfectly. My friends both ordered Caesar salads and really enjoyed them as well. And definitely save room for dessert! The peanut butter dessert and the key lime pie were both outstanding and the perfect ending to the meal. Huge shoutout as well to Michael at the bar -- the drinks were superb and he made what may honestly be the best martini in town. Between the amazing food, exceptional service, and great atmosphere, The Pines delivered an all-around wonderful night out. Can't wait to come back!
