I collect and restore old Japanese cars, so I have a need to for a reliable, honest and knowledgeable repair shop. Strictly Toyondas is definitely one of the best mechanic shops around. Ive been using them for years. Ive brought all makes and models of Japanese cars to them, and always been happy with the work Ive received. They are also very knowledgeable in smog related repairs for older Japanese cars. They are a S.T.A.R. certified repair and test station for California. They have helped me source parts to get some of my older vehicles to pass inspection so I can get them registered. The staff are friendly and helpful. Highly recommended. read more

They do quality work on my 1985 Toyota Supra. Any issues have been resolved quickly and at a fair price

It was my first time with this shop and had a very good experience. The staff were friendly and knowledgeable. Called me back when needed. Also, very accommodating. It makes sense that my family and friends in Auburn referred them to me. 5 stars! read more

Honest caring company. Knowledgeable, professional. I trust them with all my Honda needs over the years. Grateful they are Auburn local. read more

I highly recommend this shop, especially if you are a single woman. Twice, recently, I have come to them with issues with my Honda Civic. They were prompt, professional, and fixed the problems. these days, it is not easy to find an auto shop that you can trust. read more

They're always super responsive, personable, professional and collaborative. They take an active interest in making sure what needs to be done is done, and not doing anything extra. read more

I do not recommend Strictly Toy-Ondas. After completing their $180 vehicle inspection, I got serious vibrations in my steering wheel, and asked the representative to have the mechanic check it out. She told me to take it to a tire place, and that she couldn't do anything, even though the vibrations started the NIGHT I got my car back. She was very annoyed sounding. I took my car to another establishment and they immediately diagnosed the problem which was missed by Strictly Toy-Ondas. They actually fixed the problem in less than 20 minutes. I called and spoke to the representative and told her what she missed, and she argued with me, and said that there was no way she could have handled it and that it wasn't their responsibility. She was extremely rude. This is no way to treat your clients. read more

Worst auto shop ever! This place is a joke. Broke several items on our car. Did not complete car repair correctly. Way over charged for shoddy work. Be AWARE, THIS PLACE IS A JOKE. read more

We do not recommend them and will not return due to our experiences here. They are nice, but it just seemed like every time we brought the car in a new issue was created during the visit. For example, when we got transmission oil replaced, the plug was not put back on correctly and it was only by luck we found out the oil was all leaking out as we were looking under the car at something else. Had we not noticed, the car would have frozen and the transmission would have been destroyed. We did give it 3 tries, but they just were not a good fit for our family. read more

My family and I love Strictly Toy-ondas. They are very knowledgeable and we basically trust only them around here to get work done on our cars! We have done basic car work all the way to some serious car repairs and we have been satisfied with the treatment and work done! Thanks a ton Jeanette read more

I have a 2011 Toyota Corolla and Strictly Toy-Ondas keeps it going very well. They are very professional and always update you if the repair will cost more than estimated. They remind me when it is time to have a service. What I really appreciate is that I am able schedule an appointment and wait while it is being worked on. This is useful as I live quite far away but I am prepared to travel the distance due to their great work. They also do not do extra work that is not necessary. Their prices are also reasonable. The two ladies in the front office explain things and are very knowledgeable. I highly recommend this repair shop. read more

I personally had a bad experience at strictly toy onda. I suggest you avoid them. Their recommendations are not professional. I took my car to another shop and they were way off base. read more

I was in the area vacationing from out of town when my Lexus GX470 alternator failed. Those folks were able to get me in for same day service at a fair price. This is a family owned business, ran by good honest people, very knowledgeable about Toyota vichles, I highly recommended them. read more

Strictly Toy-Ondas - GX470 Alternator Replacement - Auto Repair Near Me - Auburn, California

Trustworthy place. Is there any more you need to know? It's hard to find that in the auto repair industry. They go above and beyond and give you a fair deal. I had some indicator lights that wouldn't go out no matter what anyone would. They said they could get them out with some repairs but all I wanted was to get the thing smoged so I could sell it. They got that and helped me pass my smog and even went the extra mile (literally) by driving it around to get the computer to have what it needed. Super appreciated. read more

Thanks Toy-Ondas! Everything is great with the car now! I really appreciate the trustworthy and good priced service, and your whole staff is so friendly and sweet. basically, I had just purchased a 2011 Toyota Prius from some shady characters that were hiding a head gasket repair. My car was broken the same day that I bought it, and I needed a mechanic I could trust to go through the vehicle and make sure everything was fixed correctly. The cost at the dealer would have been almost double, and I could not trust them to give me a fair price. I felt much more comfortable coming to Strictly Toy-Ondas, Janette was super sweet and knowledgeable over the phone, and the car is running great now. Thank you so much! read more

Service: Smog Quick, very fairly priced, and super friendly and welcoming service! Made an appointment two days in advance, dropped car off, grabbed lunch, by the time we were done eating they called and the car was ready to go!! Love supporting our local family owned businesses! read more

I've been taking my Honda CR-V to Strictly Toy-Ondas for years- I think four years or so. I LOVE that it's a mom and pop shop, that the owner works with her parents it's totally adorable. They are so well priced, responsive, honest with what needs to be done and what doesn't need to be done. As long as I have my Honda, I'll be taking my car here. read more

I found my DREAM MECHANIC SHOP!!! Score 1-5 No BS evaluation Knowledge: 5 Shop: 5 Heavy equipment: 5 Skilled mechanics: 5 Professionalism: 5 Presentation: 4.5 Computer Tech: 5 Cleanliness: 4 For crying out loud it's a mechanic shop, not the local mall! Honesty & quoted price: 5 Price: 5 Honestly, some of the best prices I have seen in years! Recently I was on the hunt for an awesome mechanic to do a technical install of a very expensive Magnuson Supercharger for my beloved 4runner. I couldn't find anyone local who felt confident doing the job. A friend recommended strictly toyondas of Auburn. I gave them a call and a friendly lady answered. I explained what I needed to have done. She says hold I'll talk to one of our mechanics. Expecting the same response I braced myself for disappointment and the long trek to Sacramento for a skilled person. She got back after a minute or so and said... Yes, we can do it! When do you want to bring it in? My Response. What? Come again? For real??? A few days later I roll on in thinking to myself, this place is right out of the movies a small local shop in a quiet part of town family run. Lots of... shall I say older and wiser folks chatting and sharing jokes with the front desk while dropping or picking up there cars. I spoke to the nice ladies who I learned were the Wife and daughter of the owner and lead mechanic and made me feel more comfortable leaving my precious. I dropped off my keys, hugged my car and let her know I'll be back soon for her. Two days later I got the call, come and get her! Upon arrival and close inspection. HOLY $HIT! this is a super clean pro job! Since the install, I have waited a few months to write this. YES, I waited because I don't write puff pieces I am a serious Yelper!!! I can now say with certainty, this was a flawless job and my car has performed perfectly. I couldn't be happier. Bottom line, Think Karate kid Mr. Mioggi if he were a mechanic this would be his place! I kid you not, this guy works on cars all week and then builds from scratch these insanely beautiful cars for his hobby! That's a frickin real deal mechanic! I also have to make a couple of special mentions. His wife and daughter run the front office and I think they are exceptionally professional, knowledgeable and personable add a dash of good humor to boot. The one mechanic that worked on my install, SHE ROCKED IT! Yes, I said SHE!!!! Not only are they local and skilled but progressive to boot! I have found my mechanic and my life is complete and your life will complete also if you try this place! I am a real yelper and I say it the way it is. I'll rip them down or build them up. Check out my other reviews! P.S Regarding the 3 Star review. Hey, dumb a$$ you can drive a car briefly if the radiator is dry and broken it doesn't have enough time to heat up!!!!!! read more

I called to get a quote or rough ballpark figure of how much it would cost to have my engine replaced. Instead I get laughed at by the lady answering the phone. I made this call cause I really need the help with my vehicle that I work out of. I don't appreciate being laughed at while I'm under stress trying to keep my company afloat. I guess once I become a established company I can be rude and laugh at the people that call me with their plumbing problems...? read more

I highly recommend this place to anyone. The ladies at the front are so nice and smart. They don't rip you off and don't make you wait super long like other places. read more

I'm altering my first review. I spoke to Janette this morning and she was very helpful. She was much clearer in her explanation of what happened with my vehicle. I will be doing some of my own repairs and then I'll go back to see if I can get this old thing to pass smog. Thanks Janette! read more

Got my '00 4Runner running again when Auburn Toyota told me it wouldn't be fixable. Really only needed a new key programmed to my car. Will definitely be coming back here for any work needed on my car. Super honest and fair prices! read more

I remember this all and I do not recall calling you a little girl. I am not that type of person You're just lying about something that never occurred and this is just to let you know after all this time. I went back and read it because you tried ripping me off. That's your business but you're response to my statements were fibs and I don't trust fibbers. And you did not give me an estimate. And I pointed out when you replace that Whole left side tire use different sized bolts and one bolt kept hitting above on above on the frame but you wouldn't get down to look at it. I was trying to point out something that possibly was done wrong since you had did the work. read more

these folks are awesome and I don't know why I haven't left a review yet. I bought arguably the cheapest land cruiser in the country back in early September and it was a hot mess of drivetrain issues. Janette and everyone else there were incredibly friendly and detailed and they diagnosed a differential issue that was causing major problems. these folks are like the much needed backbone that provide the support for legendary toyota reliability to achieve those 300,400, and 500 thousand mile benchmarks. thank you! read more

They deserve a better rating than "great!" Janette and Betty are extremely nice and professional. My son recommended Strictly Toy-Ondas to me, and I'm very glad he did. I've had my car serviced there a few times and have always left satisfied with the excellent, quick, service and fair price. I wouldn't take my car anywhere else. Thank you ! I absolutely swear by this place!! I think I always will... The staff here is so informational, honest, and willing to go above and beyond. I bought a new Prius yesterday, and before I called in to get an estimate for a standard diagnostic, basic car sweep before buying the vehicle, and to see if they could fit me in and they were able to do it all. Janette spent a good 10-15 minutes on the phone in detail describing all about a Prius with advice, gave me a lower estimate than others in the area (Auburn Auto Doc), and was able to squeeze me in that later afternoon. Oppose to others rush you off the phone, and sometimes just don't sound that genuine. It wasn't just that they were cheaper, but the ladies and mechanics are so humble, helpful and appear with integrity. Our family has lived in the area for over 20 years, and there's only so many reputable places in Auburn, we'd take our cars too that work just on Toyota's. This is one! We tend to do car estimates to see who gives us the best price and best vibes, which it's hard to not from them because they're so compassionate and patient. Their prices do tend to be a little higher than competitors, so we decide from here because these things listed above; we trust them and love supporting locally verses sometimes the big guys. Happy Car Lovin' & Fixing for your shop-Toyonda fits many bolts, wires, and plugs! read more

We've lived in Auburn for 15 years, and I had never needed to get my car repaired as I do most of my maintenance and repair myself. Until today, my daughter's car had an issue which I could not fix without buying an expensive new part from Toyota. Out of desperation, I looked up repair shops and found Strictly Toy-Ondas, right across the street from my daughter's high school. I went in with low expectations, and was courteously and promptly helped by John. He evaluated my situation (wheel bearing/hub issue) and within 10 minutes had resolved my issue and solved my problem. Oh, and he would not take payment. They have a customer for life! Thank you John. read more

Great people, excellent work!! They helped out my son and daughter-in-law his car broke down on the way here from LA.

I took my Prius for a repair on a part in my glove box. They were able to find the part at a dealership nearby for a good reasonable price without me having to deal about ordering online is something that might not work out. They fix did well and under the amount of time quoted for which I was very grateful. Very nice people, honest and caring. It is a family business and they do a wonderful job. I will definitely trust them for future repairs on my vehicle read more

Yikes! I hate doing this, but I gotta... We had been taking our Hondas and Toyotas to Strictly Toy-Ondas for 11 years. Recently we took our truck in for service and were told it needed a tranny flush. At 30k miles, I thought that was a bit odd, so I did some googling and found that our transmission is a closed system and Toyota doesn't even recommend checking the fluid until over 75k miles (usually not til 100k miles). Some online posters went so far as to say that if they do flush the system, the transmission could be ruined. ACK! So, freaking out, I called and we didn't get that service done. Holy crap, Batman. Close call! We subsequently called the Toyota dealership and ask the service manager a question: If there were ever a time a truck with 30k miles needs a tranny flush; he laughed and said that if we did need a flush, a dashboard light would indicate that we needed to take the truck in for a service. Even if we towed heavy loads 75% of the time (which we don't), it's unlikely. He also said that if the mechanic who opened the closed system had tampered with it (i.e., dirtied the fluid himself), the light would come on. So we were pretty confident at that point that Toy-Ondas didn't know WTF they were doing on our truck. Argh! (And as a side note, I am now annoyed that we let them change the tranny fluid on our car last year when the at only had 40,000 miles! Frick an A!) We don't mind paying for good service, and frankly, the prices at Strictly Toy-Ondas aren't inexpensive. So, we are now trying a new mechanic in town. We quizzed them prior to bringing the car in for a service. Guess what?! They passed with flying colors! They knew that this particular model truck has a closed transmission system and they don't check the fluid when the mileage is so low. If you want to know who we are taking our cars to now, PM me. Strictly Toy-Ondas is a huge FAIL. :( read more

I had nothing short of a stellar experience here. Janette and John went above and beyond in helpfulness and completed the job in a speedy manner. They were honest and I feel that their prices were fair. I would not hesitate to recommend this shop to others and I will definitely be a return customer. read more

I take four cars to this shop. They are honest, fair, quick, friendly, & local. I always feel like I'm getting treated well and told the truth. I've gone to other shops and been told all kinds of crazy things. (This is the honest truth, a tire shop recently told me that the wheels on my son's truck were going to fall off if I didn't immediately get $600 worth of work done. - I took my chances, limped over to Strictly Toy-Ondas and $123 later, they fixed the thing that ACTUALLY was wrong, and the tires have remained securely on ever since.) Another time at a dealership I was told that I needed a new radiator for a huge amount of money, and then I went to Strictly Toy-Ondas. ONE THIRD THE PRICE, and done that day!!!! If you have a Honda, Toyota, Suburu, or something even remotely close (one of ours is an Acura), I would highly recommend Strictly Toy-Ondas read more

I blew the top of my radiator about 15 miles outside of Auburn. I got towed by AAA to Strickly Toy-Ondas. They were able to fix it up same day, thankfully, as I rolled in around 12pm or so. They were very friendly and the work was reasonably priced. My only complaint was that the mechanic started up my car and drove it 100 feet into the shop. There was no coolant in the engine! The radiator was blown and it was bone dry. My car had been steaming on the side of the road. When I jumped up from my seat and ran over to remind him, in case he perhaps did not yet know the issue with the car, he brushed it off and said it was just a few feet. It did not make me feel secure about his care for the car. read more

Strictly Toy-Ondas is seriously the best. I've used them 3-4 times to fix problems with my wife's Honda Pilot. They are professional, kind, go above and beyond the call, and always act in the best interests of their customers. Do not hesitate to use them any time you have a vehicle issue! read more

Excellent and flexible customer service. The folks at Toy-Ondas were friendly and welcoming when my Land Cruiser broke down on I80 and AAA towed it there. The problem was serious and I could not go forward with the repair immediately, but they gave me time. Well, that time turned into months with my sad FJ62 just sitting in their lot. Unfortunately, I wasn't able to have them do the needed work but their generosity, honesty, and friendly flexibility earned them a fan. Should I ever need any Toyota repair or maintenance in the Auburn area in the future, I will call them first and only. Thanks Toy-Ondas! read more

This is a really great place to take your vehicle. I brought in my high milage Toyota Land Cruiser into the shop and asked them to go through the truck and give me estimates for repairs. I had recently purchased the vehicle as a project. Basically it leaked from everywhere and always had a cloud of oily smoke around it when I would drive it. The Service Manager Jason and Owner John worked with me to come up with a specific strategy to get me engine sealed, stop leaks, as well as diagnose and recommend other urgent repairs. They even went the extra mile on the repairs and addressed and fixed minor little things and even painted a few parts before reinstalling them. They did a great Job and I will be returning to them soon to have some other work done on my Land Cruiser. read more
