Wanted to respond to Rick about my review and his response. #1 absolutely reeked of pot in shop, not disputeable #2 Subaru could not confirm nor deny repair was even done and Rick was gone from shop for a few days when HE told us the bearing was bad and they replaced never made any noise so had no way of telling it was the same issue. #3 a greased bearing doesn't fail, either job was never done or it was done incorrectly. #4 for him to attack me personally with insults should be a warning to any potential clients. So the owner calls me and tells me his people never made a mistake and that they did not hang up on me ir yell at me , just thats how the guy talks . Maybe dont let this guy deal with customers , they did admit they might have missed something but they are not gonna do anything about it. So do not go here the long hair pony tailed bastard will try to rip you off . I was recommended to Performance Service from a guy named Ian at a coffee shop in downtown Auburn. I was driving up from Santa Cruz to Nevada City for vacation when my car started acting up. He told me the guys at Performance were great, honest, stand up guys. So I managed to get my car there. Bill and Lenny were great. They were going to just do a simple fix to get me back on the road but then when they told me the low price to fix the problem AND that they could juggle things around and get me out of there and back on the road in a couple of hours, I told them to go for it! Great place to smog!! The service was fast and courteous, good people and great price!!

I stumbled across this shop while looking for a last minute smog. Long story short, I ended up hiring them to take care of a few other issues with a couple of different vehicles. This shop is a family run outfit, and they've treated me like family. I know enough about automotive mechanical issues to know if I'm being treated fairly, and it's easy for me to issue 5 stars based on their honesty and commitment to customer satisfaction. I had an after-service issue due to a defective part, and they offered to tow me in and fix it immediately, which would have blown their profitability completely. Fortunately, it wasn't necessary, but a lot of places you have to threaten litigation to get that level of care. Glad they're around... read more

Had a rack and pinion boot placed by shop.Had service at a different shop and was told,"wrong boot and it has popped off".Returned to Performance and they told me I must have hit a rock or something and it torn the boot right at the clamp.I'm like OK?Only 2000 miles and I don't remember hitting anything but.....Lets put the OEM part on but compare them first.Sure enough the OEM rubber boot is longer.I'm like OK the part is wrong,too short and pulled out from the clamp and thats what tore it.Performance says "no"when you mount the short one and stretch it it fits.????WRONG PART!!!Performance says $85 please.OK.Good for you,bad for me I say.Except bad for them because I spend hundreds and thousands on my multi vehicle maintenance. read more
