My 1989 F150 came due for a smog check this year - chose to give California smog a try and was not disappointed at all! Appointment was at 11:00 am, I arrived 10 minutes early and they were able to take it back right away (this may not be the case for everyone, especially in the event they are busy). I was given the estimate immediately ($131.75 test + $8.25 for cert =140). I agreed, and off it went. Expected to be there about an hour, nope! I was out in about 30ish minutes. Staff were very pleasant and easy to work with. Simple, painless process. I will be back again in October for my 91 F150. Thank you California smog for the easy and pleasant experience! read more

Went to web site for smog checks and found CA Smog. On their web site it states $49.75. After they did the smog check the charge was $54.75. I showed them a copy of their web site for $49.75 and they wouldn't honor it, said that was a old site. Why don't they take it down if it is no good? read more

i am very disappointed with the service i received at California smog. I brought my truck in for a routine diesel inspection, and the technician refused to test it based on completely incorrect assumptions. He claimed that my downpipe, intercooler, and wastegate were aftermarket, even though all components are 100% factory stock. He insisted that these parts required CARB EO numbers, despite the fact that they are original ford equipment. the only modification on my exhaust is a 4-inch system after the catalytic converter, which is fully legal in California and requires no EO number. This is easy to verify by simply looking under the truck and comparing the larger aftermarket tail section to the stock unmodified 3.5 inch factory downpipe. The technician did not take the time to properly verify anything. he was dismissive, rushed, and unwilling to listen or provide clear information. Instead of performing an accurate visual inspection, he refused the test. To be sure i went to another certified star smog station the same day. The technician there immediately recognized all of my components as stock, knew the correct regulations and passed my truck with flying colors . This experience shows lack of training, knowledge and professionalism at this location. Costumers rely on smog shops to understand regulations and inspect vehicles accurately. For years this shop, a family owned business, has always been very professional, kind, on time, honest, etc. I have probably used them more than 10 times. Today, I brought a car in that we had a lot of work done on it. Because the previous codes were cleared I need to drive the vehicle more to bring the electrical system up to date for the smog. I have never had such a delightful experience with smog checked places in Southern California, so when I checked reviews online for smog check places, California Smog had a very good amount of good reviews which had impressed me due to my many horrible experiences in Southern California where my car failed the tests, then I was informed of the necessary mechanical work that resulted in costing me hundreds of dollars. I want this known, when your car fails a smog test, it usually cost hundreds to have repairs, which makes me curious as to how truly honest are some of the smog test shops. Anyway, I'm impressed with the mechanic and and his wife whom have shown professionalism, honesty, and great service at a reasonable price. read more

Just as the reviewer said on Aug. 1, we would not have gone if we'd known about their anti-mask, disrespectful stance. A sign on the door basically said, we posted this sign about masks because the governor says we have to, but if you don't want to wear them, that's ok. NOT ONE SINGLE customer I saw was wearing one or even tried to pretend. Although the male owner DID pull a bandana up on his face (likely because I was wearing one), the woman didn't even try. plus I saw no evidence of hand sanitation, pens were re-used, and she just touched everything from everybody with no effort to try to sanitize between customers. We were so utterly shocked and appalled that, as the prior reviewer had said, if I hadn't planned this into my day I would have seriously just walked away -- after telling them why. DO NOT GO HERE if you care about the state of the world. We are disappointed because their service has always been so great and they have been so nice. I am saddened. read more

I would recommend and return. I walked in at noon and was given an estimate that my car would be tested in 40 minutes. I left to run a few errands, came back in 35 minutes and they took my car in to test immediately. In 9 minutes my car was complete, under the time I expected.
