When we lived in the area we always used Autohaus for our repair needs on our Mazda. Russ is a very knowledgeable owner and has a great crew of mechanics. We moved away about two years back and still have the Mazda. It recently developed a headlight issue that was puzzling our local auto repair place. If I could give this place a 0 star I would . I took my Subaru to them to get the brake and light inspection, I asked for a quote and they said it would be $150 and when I got there they said it would be a total of $320 and that it would take 2 hours which to me is a little absurd. Me and my dad ended up going to a local sandwich shop and waiting and we never got a call so we decided to go their after waiting 3 hours, when we got their they were just finishing up on my car and we decided to go and see if I had passed. We needed up talking to the mechanic who did the inspection and he had said that I had passed the brake inspection but as far as the lights I failed due to my head light pointing down at the ground, he said that he had done the best he could to adjust it and that he had maxed it out. Just to make a side comment they also told us that they were the only would could do this in a 50 mile radius. So obviously we went home to go see what we could do to fix it and my dad took off the bumper and he looked at the headlight and the light for the headlight was not in the correct position in the fixture therefore it was not fully maxed out. But I still needed my light inspection so we decided to go back. They told us it would be an $80 servicing fee to get it redone and they said they had it for an hour to 45 minutes. We also let them know ahead of time like light wasn't in the fixture so our comes around and they haven't called me back so I decided to go over and see what up when I got their the car was waiting for me so they just didn't call me . And they had said oh yeah I'll take $20 off because your dad threw a fit mind you my father never threw a fit. He just simply stated that this seems a little suspicious not only when we got home and fixed the headlight the cap to my coolant was off. so I paid the guys for their work and I left mind you before this. My AC was working perfectly fine. No hot air was getting blown in but when I picked it up, my AC was in fact blowing extremely hot air when we get home, my dad checked my car and turns out my coolant was completely drained to me that seems a little suspicious and it seems like they were trying to make my engine blow so that I would go back to them. If I were, you don't ever go to this place they overcharge you and they scam you you can come back. read more

He told me that he would warranty the Engine on it for 90 days. An engine code came up on it after driving it for a couple weeks. I let him know about it and he told me to bring it on over. He swapped a part out and the same code came back on. It ended up being a huge repair and he's fixing it free of charge! Russ sold us a car and agreed to fix the air conditioning. We ended up making EIGHT appointments to have it fixed, the AC is STILL BROKE. Excuses like "its working", "didn't have time"- was the most used. Never fixed! We are done with Russ and his repair shop! We just give up... NEVER take your car to this shop!!! read more

These guys are VW guys. Walk into the shop area and they have a ton of them in there. There is a dude with factory training and that's always what I'm looking for with car service. I think they also do Mazda and GM and some marine stuff. There is a nice waiting area with computers and couches, and the couple times I've been there they have had some neat cars in the lobby area, including a Ferrari 308! I like! I went to a Make a Wish event there last year. Nice to do business with those that give back to the community. If you live in Auburn or Roseville this place is worth a shot, especially if you are a VW nut. read more

My first impression walking into Auburn Autohaus was quite impressive. The foyer is as clean as it gets which is very surprising for any mechanic! There are so many awards on the wall for this business just being good people to the community and more. There are all sorts of fun old small motorcycles that take up a lot of the foyer and there are turtles. If a mechanic takes the time to keep turtles alive and happy, I knew I could trust him to treat customers well. I took my car in with a massively expensive diagnosis from a dealer that I was trying to avoid, Russ scheduled me up for an appt. and told me he may have a cheaper solution. When I dropped my car off, he had it fixed the same day and charged me a fraction of what the dealer was going to cost for parts alone. I know mechanics rarely get to hand out good news, but I still am just quite happy with the exemplary service and care they took with my vehicle. because of that, I would be pretty comfortable trusting Auburn Autohaus and Russ with any bad news they might throw my way in the future. read more

I went here for their advertised 30 Minute oil change and because it was the cheapest place in Auburn to get one. I scheduled an appointment earlier that week and clarified that I would be all said and done in 30 minutes like the advertisement said. "No Problem!" was the response. I told them that I would be arriving on my lunch break and needed a noon appointment, they understood and I was reassured of my time frame. I arrived to my appointment 10 min. early and checked in...My car sat in the parking lot until 15 minutes after noon, but I figured, they told me 30 min, so I guess they account for the time it takes them to get the car in etc. An hour later, I ask why my car isn't done; the service man told me it was because they had ran out of oil and I had to sit and wait for more to be delivered! Instantly I recall hearing him on a phone conversation about running out of something, but in no way figured it was OIL and for my vehicle! He didn't come over at that time to inform me of the delay; instead he waited for me to ask them what was taking so long! No discount was offered for my increased time spent and no apology was made either. Got an oil change, but got horrible customer serivce...your pick I guess... read more

Let's just say buyer beware. You might be told you need brakes or other unnecessary repairs. They won't call you when your car is ready. You will call and they will say it is ready. But when you get there the car will be lifted and the repairs incomplete. Car ran worse after getting so called repairs done. You are better off going anywhere else. read more

Fantastic experience! I am NOT the best automotive customer (I have to be reminded even to get my oil changed), and while I knew that my car was way overdue for a tune up, I'd put it off. Until last weekend, in Nevada, my front passenger window went down and wouldn't go back up! After a very windy ride home, we took our Saturn straight to Russ, who got us in right away. I really appreciate his friendly (and calm) personality - he didn't make me feel like a moron about the list of things I really should have take care of long ago. I live two hours away but I go here for my oil change. My parents live in Auburn and we have 4 cars that all get work done at the Auburn Autohaus. Make an appointment! It's the easiest thing to do. They will inform and warn you of any work that your car needs or might need in the foreseeable future. I highly recommend this place for all your car needs. I mostly get oil changes but have had break work done in the past. I've never been to a more warm and welcoming mechanic shop than the Auburn Autohaus. Oil changes take 20-30 minutes so I don't recommend you schedule anything during that time like a lunch break where you should be eating food and relaxing instead of getting your car fixed. In short, for a repair that would have taken a MAXIMUM of 5.0 hours this shop billed 11.0. Even more concerning is that allegedly the shop foreman was the one performing the repairs. It takes some work to keep a 2006 Aveo going after 160,000 miles, and I won't deny I'm not the best in keeping up on scheduled maintenance. Took my truck there to get an alignment, was told I needed a lot of new parts with labor equaling $850! I tried to bring my own part in to help the cost they told me "we know you're trying to save a buck, but we're in business to make money off parts and labor" luckily, I went to another place to get a second opinion and there was absolutely nothing wrong and my car was done for 74.99. Russ and Nadja run a top notch business and have been taking all our cars for years. They are very fair and honest and never do unnecessary work. They let you know in advance what is coming up on your car ( ie. new tires, services, etc) so you can plan accordingly in schedule and financially. On Russ's recommendation I bought a certified pre-owned VW Tiguan. When the 60k service came up the dealership called to do the service. Base charge was $950 from VW and Russ completed entire service for under $400. I highly recommend Auburn Auto Haus. To be straight forward I have been to them because Americas Tires keeps stripping my lug nuts and sends me here to get them replaced. They have always been great and gotten me in and out when I have been there. I have only had some wheel studs and lug nuts replaced there but they have always done a good job and treated me well. That being said the only reason this place isn't my 1st stop shop is because I'm 30+ min away from them and have a mechanic that is 5 min away. If my guy is ever to busy or stops working on cars this will be the first place I go. read more

Russ, the owner, was helpful, explained options, offered to help me get a rent a car, gave me a quote that was a very competitive price, way below dealer, and same as my longtime trusted local mechanic where I live. He could have ripped me off or gouged me as I could not get my car anywhere else without the expense of a tow truck, but he did not. Called me when he promised, we discussed a few additional small fixes, no hard sell or pressure to do it, and when I picked up the car a few days later it was nicely cleaned.
