My car was in need of some serious interior cleaning and I had to find an auto detailing place that had reasonable prices without breaking the bank. I was referred to Strictly By Hand from a friend. The location itself is on Hartzell Rd. north of Dimond Blvd. and south of Lore Rd. in a mostly industrial area. The business has a website that offers a list of services available as well as a contact number to set an appointment or to get a quote for the work requested depending on the type of vehicle. I got in contact with Randy Hahn from the website via text message. He was very helpful and quick to find an appointment that would be convenient for my work schedule. The process of dropping off the vehicle was very simple. You simply had to confirm your appointment via text or visit their front office before handing the keys over to them. Having to sign off for the work via text instead of filling out paperwork made it that much quicker. Being that my schedule is 8-4:30 on the weekdays, I dropped it off the night prior and got a ride the next day. Later on in the afternoon, I received a call around 4 saying that the work was completed. Once I got there, I was very happy to see the interior and exterior of the car looking very clean. The detailer did an excellent job of cleaning the seats, the dashboard, and the carpet as well as the exterior which was given a layer of wax and shine on the tires making the car look so much better. My favorite part of the work had to be the engine compartment cleaning. It was layered with dirt, debris from leaves, and oil stains from previous vehicle maintenance work. Now it looks a lot better, not exactly show room quality being that it is a 2006 model along with wear and tear accumulated through the years on the interior, but they did an exceptional job. At $200 for the services, this was a great deal and I gave $40 to the detailer for his hard work. The regular rate for my car was $249, but Randy was generous enough to bump it down to $200 for being a first-time customer. My co-workers asked for before and after pictures when I told them about my car being detailed. I would be happy to refer them to Randy and his employees to generate more business for them. Took my "young" Honda HRV in for a complete detail and I was VERY happy with the work done! Things they did well: They gave it back when promised (actually about an hour earlier) They did a thorough cleaning of the inside - both carpeted mats AND my plastic ones. All vents were dusted and cleaned - dashboard was done. They did the center console and it looked brand new! They vacuumed it completely. The wash & wax was wonderful and lasted! I also LOVE that they didn't add any scent without asking me. I have family that is very sensitive to that and my car smelled clean without heavy chemicals. Best thing: The owner gave me a substantial discount that allowed me to give a nice cash tip to Uma who cleaned my car. I did have to show Uma the driver's side foot rest to the left of the mat to clean, but he came over & took care of it. I also wish they had used tire dressing on my wheels, but the rims were very clean. I am completely satisfied and will return to this business! read more

Overpriced car wash. If I wanted my car vacuumed I would've did it myself. I did the Groupon which mine would be considered a large SUV so mine was the higher priced option. The ad says "Each full interior and exterior detailing includes: Wash and wax Vacuum and shampoo Cleaning of trunk, doorjambs, and windows Cleaning of wheels and wheel wells Engine cleaning (optional), which I did. They did everything except for shampoo my car. Which is what I really needed because my carpets were smelling kind of nasty. When I got my car back, the engine was clean until you actually looked around the edges of the engine and it was not. They also chipped off paint off my grill (picture shown). There was also parts of my car that were not even vacuumed or cleaned/wipe down(Picture shown). You can tell they did not shampoo because my driver side and passenger side seats still had the stains (pictures shown). Like I said if I wanted it vacuumed I would've did it myself for free. For what I paid I was expecting a lot better job but it was a Groupon so I actually got a really good deal. If you're looking for a really good vacuum job and a good wipe down of your car this would be the place to go. read more

This was my 4th - & will be my last - detail here. I requested and paid extra to Scotch Guard my seats (after they shampooed them) despite the fact I could've purchased a can at Home Depot for less than $15 & done it myself (convenience factor). Either the detailer did not apply it or applied it while the seats were still wet. The can of Scotch guard says on the directions to apply it to dry surfaces only. I offered at least 2x to leave the truck longer so they could be dry to avoid this happening. 2 weeks after the detail my seats looked worse than before I took it in. I ended up recleaning them myself & applying the Scotch Guard on my own. I think they'd probably be willing to redo it but I drive Uber and every day in the shop is a day I'm not earning. PS. Wish I had my $40 tip back! Lesson learned. read more

I scheduled an appointment and took my truck down, they had it all day when I went to get it at 5:45 the floor mats were out but nothing had been done to my truck. They were very apologetic, get it back to us tomorrow and we will make it right, we will Rain X it and clean the engine for free it will be all good. I took it back next day truck was to be done at noon but they called and said excessive pet hair it would be all day but it would be great. When I went to get it they wanted to charge me for the Rain X they offered free AND did charge me $50 for excessive pet hair. I have transported my daughters do four miles six times and I had excessive pet hair? What part of making it right was this? This place is a rip off. $285 detail they dont do, they promise to make it right and then charge me $50 extra for pet hair they didnt mention the day before. NOT THE BUSINESS TO GO TO! read more

This is my second review for SBH. I requested and interior/exterior detail of my Jeep Wrangler. The metal parts, the body, looked fine. Clean, smooth. The plastic pieces, which comprise a substantial amount of the cars exterior, looked terrible. Streaked, still dirty and Grey, not the black I was expecting. I asked for my money back which, I was told, they don't do. But they will redo the car. I said no, they had their chance and I didn't feel like bringing my car a second time and leaving it another full day. Last year they detailed my car in the rain. It looked bad enough that I did bring it back for another go. It looked much better after which is why I gave them another chance. No more. read more

I found these guys on Groupon. There was a promotion going on for $145. They asked if I had and excessive stains or pet hair. I said I do have stains, but the pet hair is not that bad. ( I have a leather interior car) and my dog does not shed that much. They charged me $50/hr to clean extra. I understand the extra for the stains, but the pet hair charge was a joke..... there is still a bunch of hair in the back of the car. I'm not sure how they spent an extra hour Removing it!!! When we pointed it out, they said that they can't reimburse us, but the guy can try again.... except that he had already gone home. We would have to bring it back!!!! Also, they sprayed this oily stuff and did not rub it in... there were drips all over the surface of the car. So here we are sitting with a poorly done job for $270. What a joke!!!! I'm absolutely disgusted with a business that claims they are honest. DONT WASTE YOUR time or MONEY!!!!! read more

Randy Hahn where have you been all my life?! Awesome car wash service and super cool guys who work there. Apparently I had the same idea as everyone else in Anchorage so I had been to 3 car wash places before getting to Randy's and was bummed. My Car was filthy and it was a bummer. Randy was able to squeeze my car in - he said it would be a 'quick' wash and I figured it would be better than nothing. Well the quick wash was probably the best wash and interior cleaning I've ever had done ever! Where do I sign up for the full service?! Took my husbands car in for a full detail. Randy honored the Groupon price though booked directly. The car was done on time and looked and smelled great! My husbands car was previously very dusty from his work area, and always smelled like work. After the cleaning from SBH, the car smelled fresh and new, even when running the heaters. (So they cleaned well in there too.) Great job; will definitely hit them up next time we need a cleaning. read more

I was gifted a groupon and was excited to get my car cleaned...Dropped my car off Friday at 10am to get detailed was told it would be done between 2:30p-5:30pm. I received a call around 445pm to ask if I received a call from their location. I told them no but is my car ready to be picked up. They mention that my car was not worked on today because of low manning and people calling out. I was upset as this my my main car and I have four children which made this a big inconvenience. They asked if I can leave it over night and they will have my car done by 1pm the next day. I ended up leaving my truck and then my husband went and picked up my car the next day. All I can say is for a detail company they did a horrible job! Not worth your money and the inconvenience. Never again will I use this company and they only offered me a discount the next time I come because of the inconvenience they caused me. DONT GO HERE and save your money! They didn't wipe the inside of my window, didn't complete vacuum my car out (Cheeto puff was still under my seat), doors were half wiped....who ever worked my car didn't pay attention to detail. read more

Honestly I was not that impressed. I paid $130 for an interior detail. I'm not a smoker and I don't have pets. The carpet still had sand in it even though it was shampooed nicely. There were parts of the seats that were missed during shampooing. There was still dust and dirt underneath the seats. Storage compartments under the rear seats had not been cleaned and was still dirty and had not been vacuumed under the seats that lift up. The sunvisor mirrors were both dirty and dusty still and there was still liquid stain spills on the lower portions of the doors. The center dome light area that holds sunglasses etc still had dirt on it. I could have done this myself at a car wash let alone waste $130 for a wipe down and go... Nice guys but won't be going back sorry read more

There is literally no other place in Anchorage I love taking my car more than here. If I want a deep clean I WILL GET it thoroughly clean and dried. I have bath mats to cover my weathertechs to keep the dirt to a minimal and they ALWAYS take the time to clean the bathmats too! I make it a ritual to take my car here every six-months. read more

We had two vehicles detailed here just for the interiors. We took the car first thing in the morning and once we picked it up my car had new dirt splat on the roof inside of the car (which was NOT there when i dropped my car off) and grime still on the inside door handles. There was also some napkin like fluffies all over the area where my radio is and all over my vents. They did a nice job cleaning the seats and my floors which were really dirty from the winter. The truck was done later the same day and was sparkling clean! Not a detail was missed. There was also an entirely different crew of detailers there for the truck versus with the car and they did two completely different jobs on our vehicles. The worker left my 4 doors wide open in the rain rather than utilizing the covered areas. My window won't roll up and my air bag has a warning for that door. My electrical panel was drenched in that door. What did they say? "We're just doing our job..." I'm still waiting to hear from you Randy. My car was working just fine before it sat in the pouring rain. Update. Randy paid for the repairs but I had to fight and threaten court. I just had my car detailed by RC Detail. My car came out amazing so clean seriously looks great. Only problem was the location was super sketch. And very hard to find they have three different addresses displayed online so of course i went to two of them before just calling and asking them where they were. Wood chipper business? Uhaul place? Detail shop idk. The guy had to come out to the street to tell me where to bring my car. Honestly when I dropped my keys off I was half expecting not to see my car again. So if I was just reviewing the detail job it would be 5 stars because that looks amazing! Got this for my Dad for Fathers Day and he finally used it. However; when a truck goes in at 9am with 1/2 a tank of gas it should come out 8 hours later on E. My 78 year old Dad barely made it to the gas station. Would I recommend? With hesitation. read more

This place used to be in a sketchy area in Spenard and has since moved to a much nicer location off Lake Otis. They have detailed my car 4 times and it was always so gorgeous afterward that I didn't even want to get in and ruin it. They did kill my battery on one occasion and unfortunately replaced it with a used one that I needed to replace again a week later, however you never know when those things will run out so it could've been a coincidence. They guy who answers the phone can be a little brusque, but I don't really care about that stuff since my car comes back looking brand new. I first used this detail shop through groupon and was pleased, left them a generous tip and a good review. Therefore, I didn't hesitate to buy a two for one special through an email they sent. This time it was next to impossible to schedule. I felt like they were avoiding me because they already had my money up front. I called and was told they would text me to schedule, which they didn't. I had to call again and send NUMEROUS texts harassing the owner to be scheduled (counted in my phone 7 texts between 10/24 and 10/31 attempting to contact to schedule.) Same experience with scheduling the second of the two for one special. Additionally, the appointment confirmation had an incorrect address on it and I spent a good 15 minutes walking around in the cold trying to find an entrance before I received a call, "I meant to call you last night to give you our new address, but forgot." Then got a text at 4:15 that it wouldn't be done until 5:30 instead of 5:00 as promised. Car came back looking nice and clean, but I spent more time trying to schedule than it would have taken me to just clean it myself! I am so glad I will never have to deal with these people again. read more

I have taken my car there off and on for several years. It has always come back on time looking like it was brand. I don't know what happened to others that were less than happy but I have always been well treated. And I simply don't know how anyone could do a better job in detailing a car. Just had our third detail done by these guys and I can't say enough good things!! Not only are they super flexible and accommodating with scheduling, but most importantly, they do a superior job to anyone else. I've used 5 other auto detailing companies in town through the years, most who were more expensive, and I've never had a better experience than I've had here. They just do an excellent and thorough job!!! In addition, when you tell them you have a spare key and to go ahead and lock up your vehicle with the keys in it, but then it turns out you don't have a spare key after all.... they come through yet again and get your car opened back up without you having to call a locksmith!! In August, a friend of mine, and I drove my jeep grand Cherokee up the Cassiar and Alcan packed completely full, including a 71 lb labradoodle (Marly) puppy, who thank heavens doesn't shed or have "dog smell", but managed to make a mess with his food and water. Aaaand let's not forget about my long hair Siamese cat (Niki), and litter box. Niki would hide out wherever I was sitting, whether I was driving or a passenger, under the seat I was in. There was enough hair to make at least one more cat under the seats. My daughter got me a gift certificate to get my jeep detailed inside and out. Because they charge extra for SUV's, even though a jeep is smaller than most sedans, there was an additional $25. There was an additional $25 for the pet hair. I asked them if I could use the exterior portion of my gift certificate to cover the $50 additional. No problem. He marked all over the invoice " Interior Only". When I went to pick up my jeep today, I had no extra charges AND they went ahead and detailed the outside. My jeep looks so incredibly awesome!! I want to put a sign on each door that says," please remove shoes"! The staff was awesome. I highly recommend Strictly by Hand. They are awesome to deal with! Thank you so much! read more
