You can go to laser wash and pay the same amount but you don't get the same quality. Everyone that works here is very nice and they do a great job. Working at a car wash is hard, wet, miserable work so please be kind and remember to tip the workers. They even hand dry your car at the end. I can't comment on the carwash but, wow, is this a terrible gas station. You may notice that there are two other gas stations very close by. You may also notice that the Shell has the same prices. If you pull up to the pump you'll notice that these are the CASH ONLY prices, and the actual prices are much, much higher. (which explains why this place is usually empty) Very deceptive, bait-and-switch marketing going on here. Go to Carrs or the Chevron across the street. *BONUS* the ATM fees inside are some of the highest I've found in Anchorage. read more

We normally go to laser washes because they are 24hrs but this place cleans better than those touch less wash places. Usually just come here though when we need to get the car detailed. For $59 you can have the whole car cleaned inside and out. There are more expensive packages but the cheapest one still gets the job done. They do a great job and my car always looks new inside and out. For the full cleaning it did take about 45 mins though. So be prepared to wait- they do have a couple chairs nearby and a picnic bench outside. Bummer the coffee stand in the parking lot is closed. We will continue to come back every season to do the full inside/outside cleaning, it's worth it! read more

DON'T GO HERE! They trick you with the price if you don't pay attention. Even though the sign said $3.14/gallon (which is the average price for regular gas right now,) we actually paid $3.34 for it using our card. That's 20 cents difference. $3.14 price is only good if you pay cash. We didn't realize it until it was too late. Technically, it's our fault for not reading the sign carefully. However, who in the world has time to read all that crap that they have posting over the station? Ok, I might have overreacting but I hate dishonesty and cheap tricks. read more

Got a interior wash here. They did an excellent job! Got 5 cents of the gallon with my car wash, and the gas was already 2 cents cheaper than any place in anchorage. Service was all friendly from front counter girl to car cleaners. I've been told to double check their work by friends and someone who seemed like the manager, a very stern man who worked there, on the interior wash and to ask them to clean any areas they missed, but I didn't have any problems. Took about 30 minutes. And I grabbed a coffee at the Kaladi Brothers down the street. Definitely would recommend. Place seems to have changed since the previous reviews on here. According to the manager, they have changed people a lot in the past few months. read more

Summary: $50 clean up, LOTS of easy-to-clean, visible, missed areas inside. I paid for a $50 interior clean of a friend's SUV. It's already a clean, new vehicle, but I wanted to remove the interior layer of road dust and minor spills that happend while I'd borrowed it, and get it looking like new again. First off, they need to have a brighter light inside that place so the cleaners can actually see what they're doing, but also so the customer can inspect the car well. I inspected the interior after they cleaned it and (in the dim light) saw that they had missed the spill on the side of the seat and door (juice my son had spilled). They wiped it up and I was on my way, BUT... As I sat in the driver's seat, I could see right away that there was still dust all over the corner areas of the dash. They had literally cut corners and left behind big areas of dust. You could see where they had wiped the areas with something shiny and slippery (like Armor All) and left the other dusty areas untouched. Dust was especially evident around the instrument panel. Between the seats where you set coffee or charge your phone, there were still crumbs all over! When I got it home and looked in back, there were still dusty smudges and footprints all over the backs of the seats and rear console. It was easy enough to wipe away, which had me wondering why I'd just paid someone $50 NOT to do it. Super frustrating, ultra crappy. read more

I live in east Anchorage where there are no good car washes. I went to Big Corner Shell for years because it was a good car wash in a popular part of town, but they have gone downhill in the past year. I can get past the old ugly interior, but now a lot of the brushes don't even move, the spouts where the water comes out aren't consistent, sometimes you can see them moving without any water coming out, and if you pay for the basic wash and then the $23 wash it does the same things. I now drive all the way to Pink Elephant Splash n' Dash on Old Seward and Dimond for a nice, clean, quality, car wash. Such a shame. read more

Paid for the 25.00 wash. The first crew was really great. Then Something happened at the end that my car jumped forward and the person that dries with the towels, walked away and never came back. Left the mirrors pushed in and no drying done at all. Had I not pulled out the car behind me would have hit me. I left and will never go back. read more

Until today, I would have given this place 4-5 stars, but the experience I had at their gas station wrecked that. I usually get about 2 car washes a month here, and occasionally a detail. It's hovering around zero, and they have a pump right now with a malfunctioning auto shut off valve. So gas sprays all over my car and all over the ground and nearly all over me. I go inside to report this, and the clerk told me he could do nothing for me except offer me a dry squeegee (thanks, dude, that's REALLY helpful.) He told me his manager would FIRE him if called. Now, he could have offered me a car wash; it's not like I *WANTED* a car wash, because it's zero degrees outside, but when your malfunctioning gas pump sprays gas all over my car, it's probably a good idea to offer. Maybe the management would get after him and he really couldn't, or maybe he's just a jerk who works in a gas station. More to the point, I watched; this guy made NO EFFORT to check the pump, shut it off, mark it as out of order, or clean up the large puddle of gas. Since Big Corner Shell doesn't seem to care if their pumps malfunction, I'll check with the State tomorrow to see if they do. read more

I give this place three stars because they did a pretty good job at cleaning my car but holy cow, it sounded like one guy was going to lay the other guy out! As I was waiting for my car to get vacuumed, it sounded like there was about to be a rumble! I was debating if they did start fighting, should I just try and get my car out of there or call the police. Thankfully my car and I made it out before any punches were thrown. I normally love coming to this place when I am in Anchorage to get my car looking beautiful. They almost always do a fantastic job. Altho, today, I did have to go through again bc there were minor areas missed, the bugs that are normally gone after a wash were still there, the back upper part of my back window was caked with dirt, along with what looked like soap gunk all over the car. This is the second time I've had to go through twice. I will go back bc they usually do such an awesome job. They were short handed today.. And that was the excuse given. Poor car detail and horrendous customer service from the manager, Amanda! I paid for the platinum car detail that was supposed to include doorjambs, carpet shampooing, and obvious things like interior windows, etc. They didn't shampoo my carpet at all, nor did they touch the inside of my rear SUV door and windshield, which was still covered in doggy paw and nose prints. They didn't clean the inside of my windows, either, until I noticed it and asked them to. I had to ask them to clean the doorjambs as well, and even then, they only cleaned the driver side. When I asked them to do these things that were included in the platinum service, they just barked orders at each other, mainly to one nice little older man--I almost felt like he was being bullied, and it made me uncomfortable and want to just be done and leave. All the while, one of the guys was swearing, dropping the f-bomb, and carrying on some pretty rough conversation. Less than 2 days later, I called to speak to a manager: I spoke to Amanda, who told me that I should've told them all the things that they should've done (the very things that are LISTED as included with the service, that I pointed out repeatedly), and that I should've asked for a manager then and there (I was uncomfortable, frazzled, and didn't have time, nor did I fully realize the extent of all they HADN'T done). She told me she had some new guys who were still learning, and that it's my problem for not being able to understand that. She argued with me quite a bit, and finally offered to let me speak to the owner. Amanda took down my number, which is an out-of-state number (even though I've lived in Alaska for years) and rudely replied, "Oh, you're an out-of-stater!?" When I got home I went to look at the outside and half of t still had dirt covering it!! I was so disappointed. I went back the next day and they fixed it right away and apologized. I thought it was great that the car wash personnel took off my antenna before my truck went through the car wash, until I got home. I saw that the car wash guy really scratched up the bottom plate when the antenna is attached to. I understand the antenna will get scratched from his wrench but not the rubberized flat part of the hood where the antenna attaches to the truck! I'll never go there again. read more

Crooks! AVOID. I paid for the $69 detail. When I got it back, the job was about half done. Inside windshield half done, dash not done, two rags in the back seat, ugly. I'd been a long time customer going back to the 90's. I live out of town so when I had the 'lead manager' come look, he saw it was bad and refused a refund, but offered a redo. I didn't have time for that and wouldn't be back in Anchorage for a couple months. He said, no problem, he'd write it down so all the managers would know. He even said 'the kid' who did it isn't very good, but this is terrible. I go back, lead manager isn't there. Manager says he knows nothing about this and nothing was written down. They refused a redo or refund. I told them I'd have to dispute the charge and was told "go ahead and try, we have your signature'. Well yes they did because you pay in advance. I wrote the owner a letter explaining what happened and no reply. The charge is being disputed now and they are fighting it. This used to be a great place, but I understand it has changed ownership recently. Pass the word. read more

I never write reviews, but the poor customer service of the Big Corner Shell and Car Wash is deserving of a first time! I purchased a platinum car detail and wash for $69. Business places an arbitrary 30 day limit on redeeming wash that the sales clerk admits is stupid and has asked the manager to change. Employees refused to honor wash 40 days after purchase. This is terrible customer service and short sighted as I have stopped there for gas or a car wash once or twice a month for the past four years. I've tried all the other laser washes and monster washes and all the other ones and I always end up going back to Big Corner Texaco they just seem to be the best bang for your buck you can get the inside detailed I like that they hand dry your vehicle when you leave the vacuum out everything they just are a much better experience and do a much better job then going to the do-it-yourself laser washes in town and they always when I go to the Laser Wash they never get my truck clean ever I'm going to stick with big Corner Texaco. read more

Im going here from now! This is by far the best car wash iv been to. Everyone was very nice and helpful. It was cheap very quick and my car came out fantastic! It took less than five minutes for me to pay, my car to get scrubbed( yes they scrub it by hand!) And send me threw the tunnel and to my suprise they hand dryed it too!! When i asked the attendent where i could get my interior done they told me they could do it right here right now ( no appoinment needed) when i asked how much it was they informed me it was between 49 to 59 dollars which also included my exterior wash as well at first i thought it was a little expensive but the attendent gave me an extensive list of everything that included in my package( door jams, door pannells, dash, center consol, cup holders, high powered vacumme, ALL the windows, hell the even shampooed my floor matts!)I quickly relized that i was getting a great deal!! I will deffinatly return to this place for all my auto cleaning needs and highly advise other do the same! read more
