Baked cod stuffed with crab
Don B.

I wish it was close to my home but it's 4 hours away. I'm comfortable saying it would be my go to seafood place. Service was great we asked for for a appetizer not on the menu and they made it happen. The many choices offered on the menu made it difficult knowing you couldn't pick them all. I opted for a plater with catfish, Crab bites, shrimp, coconut shrimp, and fried crawfish tails. My wife went for a more healthy choice of baked cod stuffed with crab I stole a bite wow it was perfect. They have different specials daily. The next time I'm close I'll be back.

The bar area

We arrived at 11:35 on a Wednesday and were the only ones there. Luckily others trickled in as we ate. We were seated in the bar area which is a mix of funky nautical wall decor and hard minimalist furnishings. The service was ok, not super attentive though, especially given the light crowd. My wife had the fish tacos and said they were excellent, maybe the best she's had. The fish were perfectly crunchy and not greasy and came with a slaw with lime flavoring that added to the taste. Hush puppies were also tasty and not greasy. The Cajun rice was very dry though. I had a grilled blackened chicken breast, which was heavily seasoned, which I loved. Really great taste and the chicken was tender. Had Cajun red beans and rice. The beans had a deep flavor, but the rice was the same dry rice that was under the chicken snd that my wife had. Really good flavors here will put this on our return visit list next time we are in town.

I ordered a fried seafood platter and that is what I received. The fried food was greasy. The clam chowder was very good. My complaint is the bar room was cold. Everyone was wearing a sweater or hoodie.

Wonderful food, great service. I lived in New England for over 20 years and did not have any clam chowder better then Strickland's.

I have found the sandwiches very good and the drink line is interesting and some enjoyable tropical drinks. I also recommend the crabcakes.

Not a 235$ meal. Other patrons voiced the only reason they were there was because it's the only place open on Monday.

Truffle fries; don't use crinkle cut, you're not Culver's. Seriously, you have to figure out how to make fresh cut fries Or get creative w/ another spud. Chilean Sea bass; you have to give us a bigger piece for $62, It shouldn't be 1" x 3" morsel. Again, do better, It should be twice as big. If you're worried about running out, oh well, at least match the size for the value. Salmon seemed fairly big enough for the $$. You're a good spot fr dinner, but have to do better. Hope you take to heart.

There are nights when offering a critique feels unpleasantly simple. Diners risk little more than…read morethe cost of a meal and the disappointment of an evening gone sideways. Still, it's never enjoyable to recount an experience that falls short at every turn--especially when the failures were preventable. My visit to Stella's, regrettably, was exactly that. From the start, it was clear that the staff lacked even a foundational understanding of Celiac disease. Questions about gluten safety were met with visible uncertainty and no real assurance that the kitchen could confidently prepare a safe meal. That uncertainty became reality when my entrée -- a steak and baked potato -- arrived with gluten on the plate. Not near it. Not questionable cross-contact. On the plate. Naturally, it had to be sent back. This misstep kicked off a cascade of delays that stretched my wait time to nearly an hour, even though we were among the very first guests seated at 5:00 p.m. Meanwhile, my dining companion's meal arrived correctly and on time. I insisted they eat, because by the time my corrected meal showed up, theirs would have gone stone cold if they had waited out of courtesy. The absurdity didn't stop there. The to‑go order I placed after we were seated--intended for someone else--was finished before my actual in‑house entrée ever arrived. Even the wine I ordered to accompany the steak made its way to the table long after the pairing was relevant, arriving more like a begrudging afterthought than part of a well-paced dining experience. When the final bill reached $250, it underscored the frustration even more. At that price point, diners are not paying for mediocrity. They are paying for competence, safety, professionalism, and a level of service that respects their time and their dietary needs. It is not unreasonable to expect top‑notch service when the tab climbs that high. And this incident is not isolated. Increasingly, restaurants in Paducah that position themselves as "quality dining" are missing the mark on training, pacing, and basic hospitality. Yet, as a community, we lack a consistent or constructive way to hold establishments accountable or to encourage them to maintain standards worthy of the prices they charge. If we hope to preserve both the integrity of our dining scene and the value of our wallets, we need better mechanisms for clear, honest critique -- and for restaurants to listen. Stella's, on this visit, offered little more than disappointment and a glaring reminder that good intentions are no substitute for proper training, coordination, and care.

Let that sink in. Then when I asked a few questions I was told they were too busy to change out the root beer in the machine, they weren't out completely...they just "didn't have time to switch the tank over". Hmmmmm - can we all say BAD MANAGEMENT? During lunch, you run out of your namesake? I finally got to the drive thru window it was 12:59 (nineteen minutes have elapsed now) and I was told they also did not have my alternate Dr. Pepper. I waited 19 minutes in line for an order of onion rings. And when I finally got to taste them, yes they were hot...but not a lick of salt on them. Not one. I felt really bad for the girl working the takeout window. Apparently no one behind her was working. Again, bad management. They should have a manager that is ensuring everyone has a good lunch. How does A&W Root beer run out of root beer? Shouldn't that be avoidable? Shouldn't they be prepared to serve that? At all cost? Apparently not.
