Great place, service, food and atmosphere! I love this place so much! If you drive by, you better stop in, because you don't know what you're missing out!

From the outside, Kountry Kastle appears to be a massive tourist trap. But, when you enter, it is like a dark dive bar from the 1970's. The ceilings are low, the beer is cheap, and you will see the bar area as soon as you enter. Sometimes there is a juke box blasting and FOX news on the TV, but sometimes it is completely silent and creepy. The food here is resembles greasy stuff that a carnie would hand you out of a wobbly box at the county fair. Dipped in grease for a low price. The pulled pork is neutral and the sauce is runny and full of black pepper. There are four different types of fries to choose from, their most popular being the cajun seasoned fries. The frosty mug rootbeer is not free refill. My Dad ordered the fried bologna sandwich, husband ordered the smoked sausage with peppers and onions. I had the pulled pork sandwich platter, the highlight being the baked beans. I was really not feeling the beans because they had too much bell pepper flavor to them, but they had the most flavor of everything on the platter. I could actually see this being a place where kids would like to go for lunch because of the price and the kid-like foods offered, other than the beer. Dirty food, done dirt cheap!

Great food at a fairly decent price, it does get a bit hectic around lunchtime, definitely worth the trip.

Greasy spoon kind of good. It has a bar feel to it. The BBQ is pretty good. The restaurant itself is a staple in Paducah.

Awesome bbq at super reasonable prices. I had the chicken and me and my coworker both ate a ton for under $30. Nice people too!

We visited Paducah for the Quilt Show, and my wife, a quilter, expressed a desire for barbecue…read more Following a recommendation from a local merchant, we went to Starnes BBQ. The restaurant was quite busy. We secured a table and ordered two sandwiches, an order of coleslaw, and shared an iced tea. My wife is particular about sauces; we both tasted a small amount, and found the sauce to be excessively hot, with the consistency of watered-down hot sauce and lacking in traditional barbecue flavor. While the locals seemed to enjoy it, we did not find it to our liking. Having sampled barbecue in various regions, from California to the Carolinas, we found this to be the worst sauce we've encountered. We did not use the sauce on our sandwiches. The meat was adequately cooked but lacked flavor. The coleslaw was very good, as was the iced tea. The service was excellent. The restaurant is quite small, as evidenced by the previous photos. If you are seeking authentic Southern barbecue, Starnes BBQ falls short of expectations.

Still just a counter with stools around it But the staff is always super friendly and the food is simple but top notch If you go at lunch expect a line possibly out the door but they move quick The only thing that's changed is they no longer have RC Cola in the glass bottles but I know that's a thing of the past If your in Paducah don't pass this up it's right across from Noble Park

I'm finally having a chance to review our visits to Freight House back in November!…read more My husband and I took a little trip to Paducah, and the main reason we chose this location for our vacation was Sara Bradley's restaurant Freight House. We both are fans of "Top Chef" and since her restaurant is within reasonable distance of home, we planned a trip around it. In fact, we made reservations for two nights in a row, to take in as much of the menu as possible! Between the two different days, we tried a number of appetizers, entrees and desserts. If I were to do this again the same way, I would do one day of apps and dessert and one day of entrees, just to spread things out a bit. What we ate: - Fall pickles: I enjoyed this, with the bit of chili heat, especially the cauliflower - Stuffed Mushrooms: I love mushrooms, and these blended creamy, sweet and hot with a filling of cream cheese, berry BBQ sauce and smoked jalapeno - Pistachio and herb chevre cheeseball: a fresh cheese enhanced by nutty and Herby notes - Smoked bologna: my husband's choice; very meaty and there was a lot of it - Spicy beer cheese spread: a very Midwestern feeling appetizer with tasty veggies and crackers Entrees: -Shrimp and grits: my choice: comforting southern food with lots of flavor - Duck fried rice: his choice: rich rice offset by more delicate vegetables - Sticky ribs: my choice: the pumpkin spice and coffee liqueur glaze worked well for a cozy, wintry meal - Braised pork shoulder: his choice; served with beans and cornbread, this was another hearty, comforting meal with a Southern twist. Desserts: - Winter creme brulee: this was my favorite, flavored with mulling spices, orange and pomegranate We also enjoyed a seasonal sorbet and the fall spice cake. We had the same server both nights, Elizabeth, who was good at making recommendations, and also staggering the small plates on our small table so we wouldn't be overloaded. Chef Sara was in house the second night, bringing dishes to tables. The setting is relaxed, not overly loud, with moody lighting. Overall, we would certainly return to Freight House!
