    Philly Cheesesteak
    Charles M.

This is a unique restaurant you order food and pay for food where you order. When you sit down you order your beverage and you pay at the table for this. The night we went I ordered the Philly Cheesesteak and my wife had the California Chicken salad. The salad was fully loaded with a mix of greens and a delicious raspberry vinaigrette. The Philly was grilled fresh on a grill.and was an ample sandwich. We also had an order of Onion Rings which were hot and fresh. One of my favorite aspects of this place are the separate condiment table. All Heinz products mustard, ketchup, and mayonnaise. This is my favorite restaurant in Metroplis, Illinois. Ambience is similar to a rustic old fashioned bar and grill. The staff is always great and the food prices are very reasonable.

Cool little bar and hamburger place nice vibe for sure the staff was really friendly and at first I was upset the burgers looked really small but they were super thick and handmade the only thing that I was not happy about was my order of onion rings only had 5 onion rings in it they were really good just hardly any in it for $3.99 extra

Thank god I only ordered 6

This place used to have the best wings. Been coming here for years when in the area. Now the wings are precooked frozen breaded wings that they heat up. Some of the worst I've ever had. I can't believe the overhead savings in frozen wings is worth the loss of customers and orders. Only bright spot is our server Whitney was awesome.

Stopped in on Eclipse day for some shrimps! Walk in, pick your choosing and order up. Once you've ordered, have a seat order your drink and wait for your number to be called. Shrimp is amazing.....They did not disappoint. Fresh, delicious and with every cent. The buffalo chicken dip and corn nuggets were all very tasty. Drink service is a little slow but overall worth the drive.

My wife enjoyed the California Salad.

Fat Edd's Roadhouse was a pleasant surprise on our recent, brief visit to Metropolis. We were passing through the area and decided to check the Superman Statue off our bucket list. After our photo-ops at the statue we were hungry, and decided to give Fat Edd's a try. When you walk in: go to your left if you are hungry, and right if you are thirsty. The restaurant and bar are operated separately. You order and pay for your food on the left and order and pay for your drinks at the bar on the right. The day we visited there was a waitress for the bar side. She was very friendly. For the food, you walk-up and order at the counter. They will call you when the food is ready. My wife tried the California Salad, and I had a BBQ Chicken Sandwich. We also ordered the Buffalo Chicken Dip. Everything was very tasty. If you are looking for good food, friendly service, and reasonable prices, I recommend you try Fat Edd's Roadhouse.

Fat Edd's Roadhouse 323 Ferry St, Metropolis IL 62960 July 6, 2023 Thursday - 1:10 PM for lunch 4 Adults Atmosphere - 3 stars Food - 3 stars Service - 3 stars Background - Business trip and working in the area. Atmosphere - It is a bar that serves food. We sat near the front at one of the large high top tables. The place was half full but most tables were covered with dirty plates and glasses. Food Drink - Just water. Lunch - Philly Cheesesteak, blah is the best way to describe the dried out meat. The only thing saving it was the cheese and there was not much of that. Service - Lacking, so you need to order your food from one area and drinks for the bartender. The bartender did visit us at the table. She delivered the drinks and forgot about us. It took some effort to pay for the drinks that were ordered. She literally said she forgot about us. Future - Probably not, but it is a business trip with a lot team members, so who knows.

Pulled pork (terrible) baked beans and corn nuggets

A bit of a different set up here. You order your food at the grill and pay for the food there. Then you find a seat and a waitress sells you your drinks. It essentially a very large bar with a grill so maybe the set up is for that reason. I thought about getting a grilled chicken sandwich, but the women at the counter said I should try the pulled pork. I did and regretted it. The pork was old, tough and dry. Perhaps the worst I'd ever had. My wife had a pice of fish which she said was ok and onion rings which she said were good. Two friends had burgers and thought they were good. Service was poor. Our waitress never came back to check on drinks, so I carried them all to the bar to get refills. I just don't think I'd ever return, they do a good business there but I guess the options in town are limited. If you do go, avoid the pulled pork!

Simple unpretentious eatery with a limited menu. But, what they have, they do very well. Best damn smash burger I've ever eaten!!!

We ordered two sausage egg sandwiches;one wheat one white. we only got wheat bread.Over medium eggs, one with hashbrowns one with American fries.. The sausage on the sandwiches was falling apart one sandwich add one egg the other one had two pieces. One order the food was cooked just as ordered. The other two were not cooked to request.. the eggs were not cooked and runny That person could not eat the eggs. We asked for three orders of wheat toast and two white. everyone got wheat bread. If the waitress would've smiled or at least been cordial, it might've been a better experience. Couldn't get a smile out of her for nothing. My water. A slight brown color that wasn't noticed until after I drank almost the whole glass. I guess for five of us to eat it was only $47. Very cheap service terrible cleanliness I give it a two. Overall experience 1.1.

On a Wed night, place is packed, but I found one of two empty spots at the bar. The food was decent, on a high protein/low carb diet this is a solid choice. Taste was good, but should have been left on the grill for another 3 minutes. Overall: Against completion and at this price point, this chain and location are a good option.

So you mess my food up on two separate occasions and act like there's not a problem. Will not return here. I will also advice family and friends to not here as well since there customer comes after that pockets are full. If I pay for something I expect it to be the way I pay for it to be. As you can see by previous reviews they do not even read the reviews. Most show inconsistent cooking of steaks. There big selling point.

We're tried a bunch and Mrs. K. consistently rates the custard from Freddy's as one of the very better chains. So we popped in here as we're passing through the Mississippi/Ohio convergence and got a chocolate custard to go. The location is tidy with no litter in the parking lot. Inside, the dining room was quiet and empty which seemed odd considering it was 5pm on a Friday. I placed my order and had a look around - tables and floors were clean. A minute or three later, frozen custard handed over and I was back on the way east. The custard was delicious and creamy. A good one. Freddy's remains a solid choice for frozen custard. Hubby said it very good, great breading, nice and crispy. Great tartar sauce too. I wish I had tried it. My fries were not crispy (no double fry) not crispy at all. They were hot and cooked though. To be fair, the servers were very kind and doing their absolute best, but the restaurant was clearly understaffed. Everyone looked frantic, which set the tone right away. The dining room was also freezing, with cold air constantly sweeping in from outside -- not exactly the cozy lunch my mom and I were hoping for. My mom ordered her favorite, the shrimp and grits, and she loved it. Clean plate, no complaints from her. I wish I could say the same for my meal. I ordered the prime rib after asking the server about it. She assured me it was juicy and looked great today. I asked for medium rare. What arrived was a dry, gray slab of meat that was nowhere near medium rare. I cut into it to show her how overdone and dry it was, and she took it back. Eight minutes later, a second prime rib arrived. This one had a tiny bit of pink, but still mostly gray, still dry, and still absolutely not fresh. It tasted like leftover prime rib from the day before that had been microwaved -- that unmistakable reheated texture and flavor. It was honestly disgusting. I choked down less than half before giving up. The baked potato was the only thing I could actually enjoy. The broccoli had a strange, unpleasant taste and went untouched. My mom would genuinely recommend O'Charley's for the shrimp and grits. But for anything else -- especially the prime rib -- I'd suggest steering clear. Or if you do go, just play it safe and get a baked potato. Very disappointing experience, especially for a $32 prime rib in a small Kentucky town.
