Very casual, comfortable atmosphere with a welcoming vibe from the moment we walked in. The host was genuinely warm and friendly, and the staff overall was excellent. The food was phenomenal and definitely lived up to the hype. The place looks small but looks are deceiving. There are three dining rooms and a banquet area upstairs. My partner and I ate the steak sandwich with fries. The sandwich was loaded with chunks of steak cooked to order and the fries were hand cut and crispy. My second time here and can with certainty say that Doe's Eat Place is superbly consistent with their food and service, all in a casual atmosphere. This place is known for their steaks and the steaks are no joke! All cuts of beef come perfectly seasoned and are served the standard cut much heavier than any steakhouse around. I guesstimate the standard ribeye is around 20-24oz...a true behemoth so come hungry or take the rest home with you because it's far too good to waste. If you're really up to the challenge, you can get cuts of beef here in excess of 5 lbs! They also offer tamales and bowls of chili on their appetizer list, both equally delicious. My only preference would be that the tamales were stuffed with more meat and less dough but they're excellent as is. Highly recommend!! read more

If you are in Paducah, run, do not walk to this beyond amazing restaurant. Not huge or fancy but the quality of the food more than makes up for it. I got the friend shrimp lunch. Mom got the Shrimp Po'Boy. Adam got a ginormous cheeseburger. I'm still thinking about that Shrimp Plate. The service was perfect and if Adam grows up to be like our server I would be very proud. Cool corner restaurant with indoor and outdoor seating. We dined outdoors and ordered salads. Mine was a Steak and Blue Cheese salad that was absolutely delicious. It was huge so I had to take half home. The perfectly seasoned and medium rare filet cuts were my absolute favorite. Husband's salad was just as satisfying and let's not forget their yummy house made lemon garlic sauce that accompanied both our salads. I'd put that on everything if I had the recipe! I also ordered the beef enchiladas which seemed dry. I'm no expert on enchiladas though but felt it needed a sauce. Also ordered a cup of seafood gumbo which was rich and flavor packed! Who is in Missouri for the total solar eclipse. I had friends who were staying in Paducah Kentucky who invited me to join them for lunch on the day before the eclipse. The place appears cozy and quaint at first, but really, it's just not nice. But who cares as long as the food is good, right? But the food is not good. We ordered tamales and chili. Dry, unseasoned tamales. My husband thought they were likely Hormel tamales from a can. I assured him the Hormel tamales were more moist and salty. Chili was fair but not my style. I got three tamales and chili. My husband got 6 with no chili. Our bill was $39. Our service was perfectly fine. Our server was friendly and did a great job. They sell BBQ rub but don't serve BBQ to eat. We were not offered a steak menu. I'm seeing photos of Mahi Mahi and lobster tails here on Yelp; that was not on the menu. Made a reservation for 7 people on Saturday, Jan. 18th at 5:00 for three belated birthday's. We were seated and served, food was good as well as service. After finishing our dinner before getting our check we were asked to hurry up and leave so they could seat the next party. We had just spent 500.00 for food and beverages. I have to say that after all the bad crap restaurants we went to this holiday weekend this was a breath of fresh air. Anytime we stopped her to ask her a question she didn't pout like some schoolgirl. She stopped and had a convo with us. Our drinks came out quickly. I asked her to recommend 2 different cocktails to me and she def delivered. I had the jalapeno, also the blood orange cocktail. Both fantastic. My wife had the fried catfish with fries and i had the chili and 6 tamales. My wife also got the house salad. The veggies tasted fresh and the bacon was actual real bacon. Not that fake crap that other restaurants give you. The catfish was piping hot and it was excellent. The fries were the best fries i have had in years. The chili was great. Not spicy enough for me but that's ok the taste was wonderful. The tamales were absolutely great. The only complaint i have for the tamales is i wish it was more meat then dough but hey they have been doing it for years and they taste great so blah blah blah. I've only had better food at Hall's Chophouse [SC] and The Cellar [NC]. Not to mention Doe's Old Fashion was superb with Buffalo Trace. Not sure where the other reviews visited or what day but the steak was perfect, charred exterior and very tender with plenty of locked in juice, no hint of dryness. Crab asparagus was incredible as well as the appetizer not pictured, Angry Shrimp. If you make it close to Government Street in BR, put this place on your list. I've eaten at Doe's several times over the past few trips to west Kentucky. Whole the food is generally pretty decent, the service is horrible. I let it slide on previous visits, but our waitress today embodied the poor attitude and lack of concern I had experienced at Doe's on previous visits. She was distracted, dismissive, and unprofessional. It was as if she was doing is some big favor by serving us. I would be willing to overlook the service shortcomings but the restaurant itself just seems dirty and disorganized. The staff were all pretty unkempt as well. Their specialties are steaks and tamales. The steaks are in the $25-40 range, but excellent quality, it was highly recommended by my instructor. I had the fried catfish, veggies and a beer and my bill was $24, and the catfish with homemade tartar was excellent. It is hard to find catfish crisp, moist and not too much breading...but they nailed it. The tamales and chili were good as well. It has been quite a while since I have eaten at Does Eat Place. Back then it was top-of-the-line and some of the best food and steaks in the area. We went Sunday and ordered steak and potato and it looked delicious. But when we tried to cut into the steak. It was hard to cut and very hard to chew. Very tough steak that you could tell was a cheap quality meat. Two other tables around us, expressed the same sentiment. For the prices of their food, it should be top-notch. Also, before we left, we ordered a piece of the carrot cake to go. When we got home, we saw a piece of cake that wasn't even a full slice that we were charged $10 for. I will include a picture of it. I believe this is the 3rd location I have visited and everyone has been good so far. I've ordered steak and fresh cut fries each time, this time I added tamales to see what the hype was about. They're actually pretty good and obviously homemade since they're even different sizes and wrapped uniquely in paper instead of corn husks. This location also gives you sourdough bread with your meal which is sourced from the local bakery just a couple of businesses down the sidewalk. Does's in Paduca is of course located in a historic downtown building similar to many of their other locations. They have 3 dining areas, and most people sit in the middle room with the lower ceilings. I like how the kitchen is partially visible from the sidewalk. They have their meat stored in a glass display case which faces the sidewalk. The only difference here is they haven't cut the steaks yet.
