We ordered the spicy and sour beef noodle soup, veggie dumplings, and scallion pancakes. There is an option to adjust the spice and numbing levels to your dishes. The food came out steaming. The veggie dumplings were flavorful and the wrapping was just thick enough to make 10-dumplings a hearty meal. The taste profile is similar to what you'd find in Northern China, and there is chili oil/vinegar/soy sauce at the table for you to make your own sauce. Scallion pancakes were deep-fried and on the thin side. They were more oily than the homemade ones I'm used to, but the crunch and flavor on them were nice. The sour and spicy beef noodle soup (opted spicy and numbing) was yummy. You can tell the noodles were handmade and they had a good bite to them. The beef was tender, the bok choy was a nice refreshing balance to the bold flavors of the dish, and the tea egg was a nice addition. The soup was quite sodium-heavy and oily, but the flavor was quite authentic and still yummy with the numbing spice kicking in towards the end. The tiny amount of noodles or the fried donut that has a lot of oil content as well... my answer is... MORE NOODLES! Oddly enough the bun xeo which usually is a lot of work to put together the omelette was a good value. Yet once again just the lettuce pieces. I'm comparing to pretty much every PDX joint... which gives more than 3 lettuce leaves... because honestly the omelette has enough protein to make at least 5. They need to rethink this. While it was generously stuffed with bean sprouts/veggies, pork and a couple pieces of shrimp, the downside was it made the batter a bit soggy and the crispness vanished--pretty at presentation, it did not hold up well and fell apart while eating. The Vietnamese coffee was strong but it had a strange aftertaste--kind of soapy. The pho was alright--nothing stand out about it. There was plenty of meatballs, sliced beef and lots of broth. With the exception of getting seen & getting seated, service was good. Our server was attentive, checking on us regularly.
