They are friendly and helpful…read morein Linden but this one star review is based on the overall corporate policies and pricing structure of the different Extra Space Storage facilities in the area. As a customer of almost 3 years in the Linden location, I called regarding a recent price increase in my monthly rates. After speaking with the Linden facility, my rate was increased $80 a month (24%) due to competitive pricing and capacity rates in the area. One- I am frustrated that they offer cheaper rates online for new clients in Linden but existing clients pay a significantly higher rate. After calling, I asked about the significant increase for loyal clients, the rep laughed at me. The representative was able to negotiate a new price and waiting approval from the manager on the cheaper rate. In the end, the price has gone up $56 a month. Two- Rates for the facilities vary from location to location. Check the rates at different locations because Carteret, Iselin, Edison, and Avenel are all $50-$75 cheaper a month than Linden for the same size storage locker with drive-up access. Do your homework and check rates on a yearly basis. Other Extra Space Storage facilities in the area are cheaper.

I came here because of the Special Monthly Rate Deal ExtraSpaceStorage were Advertising @ $114.00 Plus the insurance I added and taxes costing me about $133.00 already is high for me, but it's insured. Now here comes this ridiculous $21.32 increase within 3 Months?! of $177.50! That's Ridiculous! I called the Manager (Jim McGowan) about the situation, Jim tells me that the increase was because they were charging their "new customers" more for the same unit. I told him what does that have to do with me?? If these "new customers" agreed to pay a higher monthly price for the same unit, that's between the storage place and the "new customer" who agrees to do so. I said Jim, you guys were (Advertising a Special Monthly Rate) for the unit that got my attention in the first place, and then you're going to increase my unit 3 months after because the "new customers" are paying more?? What type of business is this?! (ExtraSpaceStorage) Advertise "Special Deals" as Bait!!?? Once you're in ExtraSpaceStorage they go and decide to change the special rate on the fly and as a paying customer, You only give us 2 options : Option # 1 (Accept the ridiculous increase) Option # 2 (Move out within the month) That's called misleading people with GREED! and it's very bad for business! I came from Cubesmart to ExtraSpaceStorage because of the ((Special Monthly Rate!!!!) and it was closer to me. I was with Cubesmart for 10 Years and I left the place only paying $170.00 for the same size unit, within 10 years! Cubesmart raised my bill yearly at a low rate which is a great thing for us customers that would stay renting the unit for a longer time at the place. The only issues I had with Cubesmart was the drive and the waiting for that one and only manually operated freight elevator, I had my unit on the 4th Floor. I rather sacrifice and deal with those issues to pay a low yearly rate, compared to ExtraSpaceStorage that will increase your unit on the fly according to what their "new customers" are paying. Very disappointed with this location and please be aware of the so-called "Special Monthly Rate Offers" from ExtraSpaceStorage. Now with this COVID-19 we're going through I've been furlough struggling with my bills and I'm getting another increase on my monthly bill of $16.00 in July... Total $193.50! Great way to show your customers that you care for our business and loyalty - (Jim McGowan) Hopefully, when all this COVID-19 situation is over, I can go back and rent from Cubesmart which actually has no ridiculous increase due to "new customers" paying more for the same unit, no hidden fees, no surprises.

This review is only for their rental truck…read more Out of the many rental moving truck companies we have utilized over the years, this one was the easiest to deal with. The person we spoke to was articulate and ensured we received our complete order: boxes, covers, and easy and fast check-in. Moving is hard enough so to encounter a person who is good at his job and made our day easier is a blessing. Tip: They close at 5:00 pm so if you return the truck after hours, just drop the keys into the lock box after you lock up the truck, after returning.

Units on upper floors are only accessible if you have a security code for the elevator. When I decided to move across the country coast to coast, I couldn't think of any other option. It started off in October when we sold our house & had to get rid of half of our house. Genmove did the Junk Removal service to get rid of our headache. As we ended up selling our house early, Genmove picked up our stuff & kept it in storage for 2 months. On getting possession of our new house, we informed Genmove & they expedited the shipment & we got it in 5 days! We just received our stuff. They came to our townhouse a day before the move and efficiently packed everything. On moving day, they protected everything and removed it from the house, making sure not to damage the house in anyway. They have climate controlled storage. when we found our house in Colorado, They brought all of our items out of the warehouse in New Jersey to us. They did a phenomenal job unpacking. They set up everything they had taken apart and they put everything in the spots we wanted. Once again, nothing was damaged and nothing was lost. I highly recommend this company for Moving.

Premises are always clean and well maintained, issues with the gate and elevators are always addressed within hours. PEOPLE is the unpleasant experience at this place, it is common to see trash left by people around the main entrance, damages, and even big drops of paint. Too bad. I wish the price paid for the units would stay the same at least for a full year, but rent increases happen every 6 months. No matter what, I find this location very convenient, being a mile distance from home.

Update* It…read morecontinues to sadden me to report no response from corporate customer care on the broken air conditioner and humidity matter in my unit on the 3rd floor. I removed 7 full moisture absorbers from my unit today and added in 5 big tubs and 15 smaller in tub moisture absorbers. I'm paying for climate controlled and having to spend an additional $200 on moisture absorbers which I shouldn't have to given I'm paying for a climate controlled unit. There definitely seems to be lack of proper property management and corporate leadership at this facility. They seem to be unwilling to replace the air conditioners after 6 months of dealing with this problems that I only was made aware of by my own doing the end of September. I'm trying to resolve this matter to no avail. I'm giving management and leadership 48 hours to contact me to resolve this or I'm going to the investigator News reporter because you are defrauding customers not suppling the services I'm paying for.
