They gave me a…read morequote for minimum 4 hours even though I had little to move. 1 bed, 1 dresser, 2 nightstands, 2 small night stands, 2 small shelves, 1 larger shelf and 2 chairs. 36 boxes that I could lift myself but since I had to pay the 4 hour minimum I let them take care of it. And 7 bins also I could lift myself. BTW I am an older woman with a bad back. No problem I'll pay the 4 hours. They did show up on time. My belongings were moved without a problem. Before they even started, Godwin the lead mover informed me that he would collect the cash for the move plus the tip and he would give it to the guys in the truck. I found this shocking. I also work for Tips. They are not expected and certainly not asked for. I also don't know if the other movers received any of it. As they carried things into the new apartment they took a 5 minute break between every trip just chatting. Still finished in under 4 hours. Shortly before they finished Godwin informed me, because they had to walked approximately 100 ft from the truck to my apartment it would be an extra $290!!!! They didn't actually "carry" anything they were prepared with everything on wheels of some sort. Then to top it off as I paid Godwin had my sign the receipt and write a review as he stared me down. I told every company that we have a small move as we had been moving things little by little by ourselves, only Lynn provided me with the lowest minimum hours and competitive pricing. When I said I would get back to her, I appreciated her persistence in following up. They estimated 2.5 hours of work and Carlos and his team did a great job efficiently moving things, only took 30 more minutes than they estimated. They also didn't have any hidden charge for wrapping material for couch etc. My husband at the receiving address said they were very careful with our newly renovated home, the floor, the wall etc as they moved and assembled furniture. After the move, the owner Diego himself reached out to check in and asked for feedback. As somebody running a business myself and working with business owners, I really appreciate how they run their business, the efficiency, the flexibility and the care. I paid for a full packing, unpacking, disassembled and reassembled furniture long haul move from…read moreJersey City, NJ to Atlanta, GA. This was a NIGHTMARE from the start at my home with the foreman in charge of the move. He had ZERO intentions of honoring the contract quote I'd been given by his office. He started building a list of things he intended to charge me extra for 30 minutes into the move. He started with insisting that I come outside to look at the size of his truck. Which I thought was strange to start a move however after a second & third request from him I relented and went outside. My thinking being I hired a moving company so why wouldn't they come with a truck big enough for the move. So the truck was twice the size of what I needed for the move and more than big enough for my furniture to fit. However he starts to tell about how many cubic feet his truck has & that my furniture should only occupy so much space. At first I questioned him on why we were doing this before he and his other 2 crew members began working. His answer was vague and made no sense until he came into my house and proceeded to tell me that my TV's were too big and I had more items than he expected and he would have to use more boxes. So he starts to build a list of additional charges 30 minutes into the packing process. As he's building the list I showed him the written estimate I had with an itemized list of what I was quoted to compare to his list. He was visibly upset and started haggling with me about everything and going back and forth to his truck to talk to the main office. He basically stopped working to haggle with me for the next 3 hours thus slowing down the process. He tried to overcharge me for cubic feet, larger crates for my TV's and extra boxes, shrink wrap, tape etc.. A complete NIGHTMARE so 5 hours later I told him I'd had enough and I call the company directly in front of him to hold everyone accountable to what we agreed on based on a zoom video call I had with the person who gave me the estimate. In this recorded video call we itemized everything that needed to be moved & itemized the size of the furniture, TV's and the amount of boxes and materials needed for the job! The foreman was rude and disgruntled with me and the company at this point. He clearly intended to charge me an additional $1500 based off of his bogus estimate without EVER producing his copy of the original estimate. That was just the beginning of this nightmare with a rude foreman trying to bait and switch the estimate. The quality of the packing was TERRIBLE they basically threw everything in the boxes in no coordination or regard for my property. To make matters worse they didn't label ONE SINGLE BOX! The appointment was for 8am they showed up an hour late, haggled, took multiple cigarette breaks as a group and finished 8 hours later. As I'm communicating my displeasure with the situation to the office they offered me a discount on the initial payment which they honored & promise to discount the balance for my troubles because I paid cash. When my items arrived in Atlanta there was ONE mover to unload the truck and I was told there would be NO unpacking or reassembling. My new apartment is in an apartment building on the 5th floor and the elevator has sensors so basically EVERY TIME he loaded and unloaded the elevator I had to stand there and hold the door. Not to mention he's working alone and asked me to help him which I refused beyond holding the elevator doors. I paid for movers not to work for and with them. So classic poor service and several of my items were damaged upon arrival. Photos were taken of the damaged items with the promise of reimbursement. I have not heard back from the company and I've already accepted the loss so this is my only recourse. In addition to the extra one thousand dollars the company charged me for poor quality I've had to spend an additional $600 for unpacking, breaking down and removing boxes along with reassembling. Once I started unpacking boxes and moving items out of my garage, I found significant damage. One antique table that belonged to my grandmother has clearly been mishandled. There are two places where there were shreds of wood on the corner. I was unpacking boxes that were supposed to be books they packed, and I got about halfway through one box and discovered that they threw two glass shadowbox frames in with the books. One of them was shattered. Thankfully it was the one I hadn't yet filled with photos. The other one would have been disastrous since it had photos of my dad who recently passed away. Even novice movers know you don't put glass frames at the bottom of a box of books!!!! I'm seriously afraid to see what else got damaged in the numerous boxes I have yet to unpack. It's pathetic.
