Public Storage Karen Imagine storing your personal belongings, paying your unit two weeks before due date for almost two years to become an enemy of liars. I remember when I first completed my papers at public storage Mountainside, NJ. Matt the manager asked me to write a review and my spirit with a loud voice said no, I never did. During the severe raining season my unit was flooded, after I made numerous complaints, I continued paying my unit two weeks before due date. All my child belongings was destroyed and I humbly kept my cool. I contacted Sedgwick Insurance which dispersed a little over two thousand dollars. This is when the problem began and I was introduced to public storage Karen. I explained to the manager that I had to buy over 60 sterilite containers to replace the box. I had to beg to be moved to a new unit and the manager wanted me to pay to move to a new unit, this is where I finally had enough and realized how evil these people were. After finally moving to the new unit, explaining to them I can't put the molded furniture in the new unit (this is after throwing away so many furniture) that my child has breathing issues and asthma . Matt was okay with it and informed me to contact the insurance company for more money in which I did. Sedgwick Insurance informed me that he misinformed me. He later existed me from the old unit and padlocked my old unit with PS (Public Storage) lock. I'm not sure how the contention and disrespect began but I believe he allegedly informed the district manager of my race and quiet demeanor that she felt she can call me, insult me and tell me that I'm giving her a headache and hang up on me. My girlfriends are upset yelling get your brothers, no it's time to react. So many men wanted to assist me in moving my stuff out but if they are falsely attacking me like this, I didn't want to get anyone involved in unnecessary drama. Why I kept my cool throughout this whole process was I experienced this in 2017. I had another Karen attack me, my brother who is a lawyer briefly got involved I told him no. My spirit said to let them finish. In 2017, my 2016 Toyota Camry was taken, my house was gone and my job was contacted. I thought I was crazy for believing in my spirit, I was not. A few months later in 2018, I was blessed with a FREE brand new 2016 Nissan Altima (identical to the Toyota but better) a small house and a new job in one of the best school districts in New Jersey. I watched the same people get into horrific car accidents, dying of illnesses, and life in chaos. The universe has to balance out and we all must pay for the evil we do to people especially those chosen for this task. Throughout this public storage nightmare , I watch my child heal a hundred percent. Exactly when I thanked God for everything, the teacher passed away. My heart broke and I begged God to wake this man up for me because no mother wants to see their child hurting. This teacher honored my child before he passed never ever knowing the hell she went through. So losing the belongings at public storage was nothing compared to losing a good teacher. I know my child understands that God will restore the material things back to her but people don't come back. As the district manager, the manager and public storage now owes me a debt. When you do evil to people, you owe them a debt. I write this not to defame anyone character but to share my truth and warning. I know there will eventually be court proceedings because the harassing phone calls has not ceased. So when storing your property at any storage unit, please do your research. It wasn't until I began preparing for public storage that I found out about previous flooding and complaints. Please do your research. For the district manager I believe this was to reveal who she is to herself and a warning to change. I remember a story I heard in 2003 from Joyce Myers and I see it right here.. "One thing people need to understand about extremely nice kind loving people is their other side is just as extreme, it's the hell that they have survive that makes them gentle don't mistake their self control for weakness, the beast inside them is sleeping NOT dead". Update: After writing this review yesterday, this morning public storage sent me a notice of lien on a unit that no longer belongs to me. This is the plan, so we are going to court and the public will see the excessive harassment. read more

Initiated 10 x 10 storage unit for $280 in April 2022 and by April 2024 they had raised the price without my consent to $570!! This is an outrageous, price gauging unethical business that you should AVOID at all costs! I saw the charge on my credit card and immediately found a 10x 15 storage unit (also drive up, outside) one mile closer to home for $300! The price is locked in too! I am very pleased to rent a space here. Making the reservation online was easy and convenient. Once I got to Public Storage, the person that helped me find my storage unit was very friendly and helpful. The best thing was not having to get out of my car to access the keypad to open the gate. It was accessible from my phone. I would definitely recommend renting here if you are looking for a storage unit. read more

BEWARE - Unetical/Illegal buisness practices - Online Quotes are NOT honored. The billed rate was significantly higher. They also automatically bill you for insurance. i was advised on numerous ocassions that the insurance was cancelled when in fact it was not. It can be cancelled on the website but none of the operators advised such when calling. read more

After learning that my reservation at the Hillside location was not really a reservation and they didn't have a unit for me, I was referred to the Public Storage in Mountainside. I was already angry that I was dealing with the incompetence from Hillside, and hoping that the staff at Mountainside could help me out. I dealt with two ladies there, and they were both extremely pleasant. Sade heard my complaints and was empathetic toward my situation. She was extremely professional and did a great job at finding the right unit for me. She was very helpful every step of the way, and by the time I was done renting the unit, I wasn't thinking about the earlier mishap that I had to deal with it. Sade was great, the place was clean and well organized. I read one of the other reviews about having to get out of your car to enter the code to get through the gate. Yes, that seemed a bit weird, but it wasn't a big issue for me. Perhaps because it was only lightly raining and not snowing. Overall, this was a great experience with Mountainside and I would recommend asking specifically for Sade if you are there. Im sure that everyone is great, but she really stood out as a great example of professionalism. read more

The whole process was to rent a storage space was so easy! I used the internet and then downloaded the app to continue the process. When I got to Mountainside Public Storage, the person working, I believe his name was Matt(?) was so helpful! He answered all my questions and if I needed anything he was extremly accommodating. Even before I moved my things into the storage space, Public Storage called to make sure I knew when they were open, to check what time I was coming and just helped the whole moving process be less stressful! This has been by far the worst storage unit I have ever used. I use this for work and have been to several others in the tri-state area. I don't even know where to begin. The first little thing that bothers me is that you have to get out of your car to enter the code to get into and out of the unit. Then you have to enter your code again to get inside the building. Inside the units there are no lights so you cannot see what you are doing. It makes it very difficult to move stuff around or find anything even when the unit is so organized. You just can't see anything. The bathrooms are awful! It is so gross. There's never any toilet paper, soap, or paper towels. It smells horribly in there and the trash is never emptied. I have to drive two hours to this unit and rather hold it then use the restroom there. There are three carts that are stored in the main building. When I arrive sometimes they are not there. No one puts them back at the end of the day which seems like a simple task to me. And lastly it has snowed twice this past couple of months. The first snowfall was not too bad but there was still snow that needed to be plowed and salted. They didn't plow nor salt and it was so icy. We just had a huge snowstorm and I had to go to the unit. They did the most horrible plow job I have ever seen. There was still snow on the ground and it was covered in ice. They didn't even salt! I slipped seven times and I finally fell on my way out trying to enter the damn code to get out of the facility. I have reached out to management several times. This is completely unacceptable for being a corporation. read more
