We moved from New Jersey to Colorado and used General Moving Carriers. We worked with them before and they did a great job. Nothing was lost and nothing was damaged. They came to our townhouse a day before the move and efficiently packed everything. On moving day, they protected everything and removed it from the house, making sure not to damage the house in anyway. They have climate controlled storage. when we found our house in Colorado, They brought all of our items out of the warehouse in New Jersey to us. They did a phenomenal job unpacking. They set up everything they had taken apart and they put everything in the spots we wanted. Once again, nothing was damaged and nothing was lost. Just completed a very high quality move with General Moving! Super competent foreman managed everything, listened to me, and helped explain what was happening all along so I felt reassured throughout the long day of moving. Excellent workmanship disassembling and reassembling everything. Terrific attitudes and professionalism even under challenging conditions--heat, heavy rains, flooding on the roads, and the heaviest couch in existence getting through two offset doors. They did a 14 hour day with no breaks just so they could get it done. Throughout it all, the movers were positive, upbeat, and enjoyable to work with. I felt so taken care of and understood. I can't believe I never finished my review. The company was very accommodating. The initial review was virtual so it was painless and happened almost immediately. I was able to change my date (moved it up a week) and increase the number of boxes (the day before pickup) with ease. The movers (Roy, Ronny, Ricky, Zaher, Rodrigo & Franky) were all very nice, friendly people. My pickup was on - time which meant so much because I was going through a lot and literally nothing seemed to be going right. And the fellas didn't know but all four of their friendly faces helped that day. The delivery was also pretty timely and as far as I can tell I received all my stuff. I am pleased with the entire process, I would give more than five stars and wish I had written the name of the office staff to shout them out directly. You cannot go wrong with this mover. Oh by the way, the initial company I called told me it would be better to purchase all new items because the price is by weight. Each of the places I called mentioned weight but only the 1st came back something ridiculous. GM was in line with other quotes but I liked the interaction with the staff much better. Excellent Service! We used General Moving Carriers in July for our move from NJ to VA for both storage and moving. Mel did an excellent job of explaining the services provided. The crew who loaded the truck were very professional and arrived at the date/time agreed upon. They were careful with our furniture and boxes and completed the job in one day. The load was delivered to a storage warehouse as agreed. Our close date was moved up by 10 days. We contacted Matt who arranged to have the delivery date moved up as well. When the crew arrived in VA, they worked very hard to unload the truck and place the items in the requested rooms. Before they left, they made sure everything was set up, in the proper location and cleaned up any debris. We would definitely hire them again for our moving needs! read more

We moved into our new home less than an hour ago, and this has probably been the least stressful move I can remember. The challenges: leaving a large house with a steep and awkward driveway and few points of access, and moving to a smaller house with a lot less space to hold our possessions. The team from General Movers were awesome! My experience was eventless and easy. First, my move date changed 4 times, and the team was able to accommodate me. Second, they delivered boxes and supplies to the house, and refunded to me whatever I didn't use. Three, I was moving from a large home to a small apartment in Philly. They provided a fork-lift and lifted my vintage Steinway Grand Piano through an upper floor window. Five: The team was so careful with all my belongings, floors, rugs, etc, nothing even has a scratch; not the piano, my poster bed, armories, china cabinet, dining room sets - nothing. Not a scratch. They only packed for me the large pieces and art work. We did everything ourselves. Moving is such a hellacious activity I wouldn't wish it on my worst enemy. Wish I could not even click on one star. The initial selling pitch was great, the crew came on time and packed everything swiftly. They then ask you to write a bloody review about their company. Really? Canni write one when I get my stuff where ii want it? Smart ploy. At the time of having to deliver it, they broke their promise. They came dayssss later, the driver had such a bad attitude toward my husband who was trying to coordinate a good time for them to drop by since they did not show up when they were supposed to. Their excuse? Oh the same immature one,'our truck broke down'. Yeh right. It gets worse. Our furniture had dents and scratches. They promised to assemble the furniture. That was the worst job ever. I have used General Moving Carriers twice. Both times it was to move my parents antiques from NJ to FL. They did such a great job the first time in 2008, that I decided to use them again in 2018! Lona is very kind and responsive and answered all my questions. When I had to move my dates a few times, they were very accommodating. When my parents antiques arrived, 2 of the pieces were broken, but they took those pieces and had them restored at no charge to me. Wow, that was really great! General moving was surprisingly good, yes I did make sure on my part to make sure I took everything written as I was already burnt once! But they were amazing and quick and very professional. I don't know why the 1 star but these guys were great to me. Guy came out to my home and Guranteed the price so I had no surprises. Jake called the day before and he was really great and professional. Pete was my crew manager and they were like a swift pack of machines. I moved from Marlboro New Jersey to Fort Lauderdale FL. The delivery was difficult because I am in a High-rise on the 16th floor and my building was very difficult to deal with. The delivery crew was different from the New Jersey crew and they were great also, however it did take them a long time to completely the delivery about 8 hours. Not a bid deal I suppose but moving is really hard and I wish we could have arraigned for 2 more men on delivery. There were no surprises and only 1 broken lamp that I was assured is going to be replaced. This is my first move and I was really scared, making the right choice was not easy. I moved several times within Hoboken using another company. Always had some breakage, and my upright piano has a ding for each move. General Moving Carriers moved me from Hoboken to Los Angeles, including a stop in their storage and transfer to shuttle trucks on this end. Not only does my piano not have any new dings, my antique church stained glass window (about 7ft by 3ft) is not broken or even cracked. That's a miracle! The driver called me a few days before he was arriving, and showed up when he said he would. The movers on both sides were terrific - friendly and helpful. Very careful of the laminate floors in my new apartment. The estimator was very knowledgeable about the long-distance moving process, which was new to me. (I did move across country decades ago after law school, but I did that in a few UPS boxes, so not the same.) The estimate was a bit under on supplies and space, and was written in a way that was unclear to me and to the movers, so I ended up paying a bit more. Although I would have hired them if I'd known that amount up front, there's room for a bit of improvement. read more
