I have used this company a number of times and the staff is excellent. The actual movers are polite, easy-going. They know exactly what to do without damaging your furniture. I would higher recommend them. read more

We have been a longtime customer of Genmove with multiple office moves & couple of personal moves. They have always delivered as per expectations at very reasonable cost. When I decided to move across the country coast to coast, I couldn't think of any other option. It started off in October when we sold our house & had to get rid of half of our house. Genmove did the Junk Removal service to get rid of our headache. As we ended up selling our house early, Genmove picked up our stuff & kept it in storage for 2 months. On getting possession of our new house, we informed Genmove & they expedited the shipment & we got it in 5 days! We just received our stuff. Johnny & his crew were excellent & moved the items safely & set them up perfectly. They were very careful & worked really hard. Thanks to Guy & Genmove team in executing our move flawlessly. Highly Recommended. read more

We moved from New Jersey to Colorado and used General Moving Carriers. We worked with them before and they did a great job. Nothing was lost and nothing was damaged. They came to our townhouse a day before the move and efficiently packed everything. On moving day, they protected everything and removed it from the house, making sure not to damage the house in anyway. They have climate controlled storage. when we found our house in Colorado, They brought all of our items out of the warehouse in New Jersey to us. They did a phenomenal job unpacking. They set up everything they had taken apart and they put everything in the spots we wanted. Once again, nothing was damaged and nothing was lost. I highly recommend this company for Moving. read more

These guys were great! used them for our move last weekend and they are PROFESSIONALS! They were efficient, quick, and handled all of our items with care. Would definitely recommend! read more

A good, professional moving company. The movers worked quickly, and carefully. We had a few expensive pieces, and they arrived at our new home safely and without any damage. I would definitely use this moving company again, if I move again! read more

No complaints. Rodrigo and his team of three were excellent professional caring. Pete Matos point of contact excellent as well.

My family has moved many times over the years, and this was the least stressful and positive experience by far. First let me say that General Moving Carriers could not have been more transparent (no surprises) and straightforward. The quote you receive remains constant unless you add or delete items prior to your move. Price is then adjusted. Moved from NJ to FL with a month storage in-between. From start to finish everyone I interacted with was professional, competent, personable and so eager to help. Communication every step of the way was spot on. Rodrigo was the point person and was always available to answer all my questions. The moving crew secured and handled all of our furniture items with care, and nothing was scratched or damaged. Thank you for making a stressful time in our life so much more palatable. John Carr read more

This was my third move with General Moving and the third time that one of life's most stressful events was completed in the most professional and efficient manner imaginable. I was initially referred to you by a friend who had used your services. I downsized with two local moves and this time from the east coast to the west coast. Truthfully, I was worried that I was pushing my luck when I opted to have General Moving do the cross country move. But they did not disappoint. Everything arrived within the timeframe agreed upon and in perfect condition. Courteous and professional service from the office staff, the pack up and move crew and the delivery team. There was one small issue with the final payment process but it was immediately resolved with a quick call to the office (my call was picked up on the first ring by an employee even though it was 9 pm eastern time). Thank you, General Moving, for three great moves. read more

I used General Moving for a local move from S. orange to Milburn I was quite pleased with the professionalism and responsiveness of everyone i spoke to. The estimate was very fair, but the actual cost at the end of the move was about 30% less. The 3-man crew worked quickly and efficiently and got the job done. I was really impressed and quite satisfied with the service. I tipped them well and highly recommend. read more

We were very impressed by this service. Some highlights: 1. They showed up on time and gave me a call before to let me know their ETA 2. The crew was extremely professional-checking in and asking questions to make sure things ran smoothly 3. Everyone worn gloves and masks and abided by social distancing guidelines 4. Nothing broken 5. Worked efficiently and effectively and got the job done a little early. 6. Ronny and his crew did an outstanding job Highly Recommend! read more

Just completed a very high quality move with General Moving! Super competent foreman managed everything, listened to me, and helped explain what was happening all along so I felt reassured throughout the long day of moving. Excellent workmanship disassembling and reassembling everything. Terrific attitudes and professionalism even under challenging conditions--heat, heavy rains, flooding on the roads, and the heaviest couch in existence getting through two offset doors. They did a 14 hour day with no breaks just so they could get it done. Throughout it all, the movers were positive, upbeat, and enjoyable to work with. I felt so taken care of and understood. I really appreciate the amazing job they did and how great they made me feel about it. I am so glad I chose General Moving Carriers for my move! read more

As I am writing this review General Moving Carriers is moving me. AGAIN they are amazing in every way. Showed up right on time. No excuses no stories. Guys are working hard with not even a second break. They are taking care of my home like it was there home. I have zero complaints with price and there services. You have to give them a call. No if ands or buts. I am glad to say I never had to or will have to reach out to anyone else. read more

General Moving Carriers - Best in the business. - Movers Near Me - Maplewood, New Jersey

I can't believe I never finished my review. The company was very accommodating. The initial review was virtual so it was painless and happened almost immediately. I was able to change my date (moved it up a week) and increase the number of boxes (the day before pickup) with ease. The movers (Roy, Ronny, Ricky, Zaher, Rodrigo & Franky) were all very nice, friendly people. My pickup was on - time which meant so much because I was going through a lot and literally nothing seemed to be going right. And the fellas didn't know but all four of their friendly faces helped that day. The delivery was also pretty timely and as far as I can tell I received all my stuff. I am pleased with the entire process, I would give more than five stars and wish I had written the name of the office staff to shout them out directly. You cannot go wrong with this mover. Oh by the way, the initial company I called told me it would be better to purchase all new items because the price is by weight. Each of the places I called mentioned weight but only the 1st came back something ridiculous. GM was in line with other quotes but I liked the interaction with the staff much better. A big THANK YOU to everyone that assisted with getting a few pieces of furniture and 13 boxes from Hackensack, New Jersey to Woodbridge, Virginia. read more

Excellent Service! We used General Moving Carriers in July for our move from NJ to VA for both storage and moving. Mel did an excellent job of explaining the services provided. The crew who loaded the truck were very professional and arrived at the date/time agreed upon. They were careful with our furniture and boxes and completed the job in one day. The load was delivered to a storage warehouse as agreed. Our close date was moved up by 10 days. We contacted Matt who arranged to have the delivery date moved up as well. When the crew arrived in VA, they worked very hard to unload the truck and place the items in the requested rooms. Before they left, they made sure everything was set up, in the proper location and cleaned up any debris. We would definitely hire them again for our moving needs! read more

We moved into our new home less than an hour ago, and this has probably been the least stressful move I can remember. The challenges: leaving a large house with a steep and awkward driveway and few points of access, and moving to a smaller house with a lot less space to hold our possessions. But we were in great hands with Roy, Calvin, Rodrigo, Manny and the other crew, who put us at ease immediately. Everyone on the team was efficient, professional, thoughtful and patient with their anxious customer (me), offering guidance when necessary and finding clever solutions to the puzzles of physical space. Really a great team: I felt lucky to have them, and although I really hope not to need movers again for a long time, this is my dream team. For one of the most stressful experiences of daily life, this is the team you want with you. read more

We were very disappointed with the quality of service. The movers were very polite, but we had a significant amount of property damage and found the office staff very challenging to work with following the move to resolve the claim. read more

We recently moved from South Orange to Winston Salem, and were thrilled that we had contracted with General Moving! Beginning with the virtual estimate, Guy was professional and thorough, and even tho' the items we ended up moving weren't exactly the same --the actual cost ended up being a little less than the estimate. The packers were fabulous, and Frankie and David drove the truck down and unloaded everything safely, quickly and professionally! It was a BIG move and nothing was broken or lost or damaged...all under the expected cost! Moving is never easy and even less so as we're older but this team made it as easy as possible. We highly recommend them! read more

Very professional service! I highly recommend this company. They were punctual and finished quick yet handle my items with care. All the men were respectful and polite! read more

The whole experience was just terrific! The salesperson, office staff and moving crew were all professional, polite and eager to be helpful. They were very careful with our belongings and cleaned up daily (our move of about 5 miles was a 4 1/2 day affair). After we arrived and they helped with some of the unpacking, as planned, they have continued to be helpful, periodically picking up cardboard as we unpacked. I recommend General Moving with no reservations. Richard Weinberg read more

General Moving Carriers has moved my sister many times. I have been with her on at least three of those occasions, the most recent being this past Friday and Saturday, June 1-2. There is a reason she continues to return to General Moving - the teams are beyond excellent. On Friday, we had Roy and Jamar, with Rodrigo added to make a trio on Saturday. The men were experts in every facet of their work - packing, protecting, physical strength (OMG the rolltop desk!). They were efficient, respectful and helpful in any and every imaginable way. And I could say similar things about teams sent in the past. Someday we will move from our house in Center City Philadelphia to a place not yet determined. And if General Moving is willing to do the job, that will be my first choice. Thank you for helping to make this past weekend a lot easier for my sister. Eileen read more

The team from General Movers were awesome! My experience was eventless and easy. First, my move date changed 4 times, and the team was able to accommodate me. Second, they delivered boxes and supplies to the house, and refunded to me whatever I didn't use. Three, I was moving from a large home to a small apartment in Philly. They provided a fork-lift and lifted my vintage Steinway Grand Piano through an upper floor window. Five: The team was so careful with all my belongings, floors, rugs, etc, nothing even has a scratch; not the piano, my poster bed, armories, china cabinet, dining room sets - nothing. Not a scratch. They only packed for me the large pieces and art work. We did everything ourselves. Moving is such a hellacious activity I wouldn't wish it on my worst enemy. But with General Movers, it was a seamless and smooth event. Thank you, Guy, Miguel and team for everything! read more

I used this mover five years ago when I moved from NJ to NYC. This is a company that will do their best to make your move as smooth as possible. And if they get something wrong, the current management will bend over backwards to make it right! read more

Wish I could not even click on one star. The initial selling pitch was great, the crew came on time and packed everything swiftly. They then ask you to write a bloody review about their company. Really? Canni write one when I get my stuff where ii want it? Smart ploy. At the time of having to deliver it, they broke their promise. They came dayssss later, the driver had such a bad attitude toward my husband who was trying to coordinate a good time for them to drop by since they did not show up when they were supposed to. Their excuse? Oh the same immature one,'our truck broke down'. Yeh right. It gets worse. Our furniture had dents and scratches. They promised to assemble the furniture. That was the worst job ever. No part was in place. Above all, they lost two of our mirrors n tried to buy us with money. Bad bad bad company. Please don't even bother! read more

I didn't read the reviews on Yelp before I used these guys to move my mom to Jersey City, but I was very pleased with them. I used general moving for my big cross country move from NJ to CA 2 years ago. I had been bullied before my movers scamming ppl and getting a lot of money! General moving was surprisingly good, yes I did make sure on my part to make sure I took everything written as I was already burnt once! But they were amazing and quick and very professional. I worked with jake and guy and both are very friendly and helpful. They also gave me 1 month free storage and all my furniture came in pristine condition! I would recommend them to anyone! Infact I did to another friend recently and guess what they did a fabulous job again and also gave me a referral check which was a pleasant surprise ! read more

I have used General Moving Carriers twice. Both times it was to move my parents antiques from NJ to FL. They did such a great job the first time in 2008, that I decided to use them again in 2018! Lona is very kind and responsive and answered all my questions. When I had to move my dates a few times, they were very accommodating. When my parents antiques arrived, 2 of the pieces were broken, but they took those pieces and had them restored at no charge to me. Wow, that was really great! This is a great company and everyone I did business with was really on the ball. They really care about their customers and doing a great job. read more

I recommended General Moving Carriers, hands down and no hesitation. The whole process from Guy giving us a contractual estimate, (the cost will not go up, unless we add more things) to the day of the move, the crew, Ronnie Augie, Frankie and Ricky work seamlessly together with great energy and attitude. Flawless transition, period. Thank you everyone! read more

I moved from Florida to California for job relocation. Of course moving to a new city, a huge one at that was already nerve wrecking. Then I had the task of searching for a reputable moving company to move my furniture without them being damaged or stolen. I read the reviews about several companies, called a few and received quotes. These guys are the best choice hands down. read more

We used General Moving Carriers to pack and store contents of our 20+ year lives in South Orange, NJ and then move them to NYC. From the initial contact with Guy Kaufman who wrote up the job to both the loading and unloading crews were incredibly helpful, pleasant to work with, and efficient. I hope we never have to move again but if we did we'd hire them again without hesitation. Could not more highly recommend them. read more

I don't know why the 1 star but these guys were great to me. Guy came out to my home and Guranteed the price so I had no surprises. Jake called the day before and he was really great and professional. Pete was my crew manager and they were like a swift pack of machines. I moved from Marlboro New Jersey to Fort Lauderdale FL. The delivery was difficult because I am in a High-rise on the 16th floor and my building was very difficult to deal with. The delivery crew was different from the New Jersey crew and they were great also, however it did take them a long time to completely the delivery about 8 hours. Not a bid deal I suppose but moving is really hard and I wish we could have arraigned for 2 more men on delivery. There were no surprises and only 1 broken lamp that I was assured is going to be replaced. This is my first move and I was really scared, making the right choice was not easy. Thank you guys so much for all your hard work and thanks to Guy and Jake who coordinated everything for me. Randy S. read more

A family member found these guys on a different one of these rating sites a while ago. I came on here today to write about what an amazing job they did on my recent move. I have to say, I am absolutely shocked by what the other two reviewers wrote. I can not rave enough on how great my crew was, led by Pedro. They were efficient, courteous, and very mindful of my belongings. When they started to fixed a few pieces of furniture that were a bit wobbly since I built them myself before packing them up to move I realized how great they really were. They. Are. Awesome. I would give them 10 stars if it were possible. read more

Save yourself a headache and do not use this moving company. They're arrogant, rude, and over priced. Very low quality customer service and the movers were really slow. Took twice as long than they said it would. When I called customer service they were rude and didn't care at all since they already got paid for the job. I do not recommend this company and will never use them again. read more

What a tremendous job moving all of my furniture to another state. The guys doing the move could not have been nicer! I moved several times within Hoboken using another company. Always had some breakage, and my upright piano has a ding for each move. General Moving Carriers moved me from Hoboken to Los Angeles, including a stop in their storage and transfer to shuttle trucks on this end. Not only does my piano not have any new dings, my antique church stained glass window (about 7ft by 3ft) is not broken or even cracked. That's a miracle! The driver called me a few days before he was arriving, and showed up when he said he would. The movers on both sides were terrific - friendly and helpful. Very careful of the laminate floors in my new apartment. The estimator was very knowledgeable about the long-distance moving process, which was new to me. (I did move across country decades ago after law school, but I did that in a few UPS boxes, so not the same.) The estimate was a bit under on supplies and space, and was written in a way that was unclear to me and to the movers, so I ended up paying a bit more. Although I would have hired them if I'd known that amount up front, there's room for a bit of improvement. read more
