    I recently won a storage unit auction at this Hillside Public Storage. Once I won I realized I was…read moregoing to need more time to clean it out so I decided to rent a space at the unit. I have rented many storage spaces in my time but I did not expect the customer service that I received at this branch. From the first day I spoke with Angie she was very polite and very helpful. The day I won I had to get to the storage unit before they shut. I had some issues with my car on the way there and I did not think I was going to make it, but I spoke with Angie, explained the situation and said I would get there as soon as possible. All she asked was that I call and keep in touch if she knew when I was coming. I did throughout the trip I ended up being 15 minutes late they should have already shot but Angie stayed helped me get everything set up to go and the extra time needed to show me my unit and make sure I had everything I needed. She could have just left even though I made the long drive but she didn't. I've been renting storage units for about 30 years and I've never had someone go so far out of their way to help. Usually I receive a lot of attitude or they won't help in any situations. So this was very unexpected. As I started to unload this unit, it was extremely loaded with everything and anything. I never seen such a mess. Couple days in I realized I was not going to be done in time so I figured I'd go talk to Angie. Before I could get to the office she came to me and she told me, before I even asked that it would be okay if it took me a few extra days to get it cleaned and that she would work with me as long as I kept in touch with her. As we continued to clean for the next couple days we kept in touch and every time she was very helpful and extended my time. One of the days I drove all the way there (40 minute drive), got to the jnit door and it was locked and I thought, "Oh my time is up," but Angie went and unlock the unit and worked it out with me to be able to take over the unit for the month so that I could finish getting everything out. She worked it out so that I could have that unit specifically at a good price. Unlike others who would have given up and said there was nothing they could do. She went out of her way, research what she needed to do and made sure she was able to fix it for me. Her only major concern was helping me as a customer to make sure that I had everything I needed. That's what you want in customer service as a customer and that's what you want working for you to represent you as an employer. At one point, she even wished that she could help me move as she felt bad for me. Unfortunately, she could not. She continued to check in every day making sure I had everything I needed. She's such a pleasant, caring person, very knowledgeable in her position to be able to allow me to take over that unit. I've asked storage places before if it's possible that I just take over the unit that I bought. They just said it was not possible, that there's nothing else they could do for me, but it seems there was something that could be done and Angie did do it. Angie didn't even question it, she knew exactly what to do. Angie saved me so much time, money and effort in moving everything around and making it work. Thanks to her I was able to get everything fixed without being pressured to close the unit before I was done cleaning it and lose everything I had just won. If I had a business where I could employ her, I would truly love having an employee like her. I hope Public Storage appreciates having someone that has the knowledge, compassion and work ethic as she does.

    Warning: do not use this location if you are a sexual minority…read more My husband, who is gender nonconforming and I were discriminated against because of our gender expression, our perceived sexuality and our race. We had rented a Uhaul on the website and this was the pickup location. We innocently walked in completely unprepared for what was about to happen to us. The staff member refused to even look at us, refused to help us after numerous kind attempts requesting assistance and at one point towards the end of the encounter screamed at the top of her lungs in a very threatening manner, "Don't talk at me. Talk to me!" The staff member then screamed even louder, "Get out of my store! Get out of my store!" We had done absolutely nothing wrong, had simply come in to rent a Uhaul and were verbally assaulted and had a gender- and race-based hate crime committed against us. My husband and I, completely shaken exited the facility practically in tears. Luckily, we are strong people, accustomed to societal discrimination and thus went on with our day but I would sincerely warn anyone of doing business with the racist, homophobic and violent staff of this location.

    Ordered 3 U-Boxes to be shipped from Uhaul in Hillside NJ to Atlanta GA. Only 2 of the 3 were…read morecorrectly inventoried and shipped to Atlanta from the Hillside location. Spoke with the manager of the Hillside Uhaul location, who was blamed the moving company we hired through Uhaul for dropping the 3rd Ubox off after they were closed. This was strange since the movers sent me timestamped pictures when they were dropped off at the Hillside location at 3pm. Use this Uhaul location in Hillside, NJ at your own risk.
